Also I got an email from MCF for UBC stating that if you don't get an email by 22nd of December 2023, the application is rejected.
I hope your other applications come out positive
All the best
Yeah! I also got the mail yesterday. Thank you very much for your response.

I got the application fee waiver on the 14th of December 2023. I sent my application for MCF mcgill on the 1st of December 2023
Congratulations to you.
I sent my application on November 13th and got an update from them on November 21 acknowledging receipt of my documents. They told me that it will undergo pre-screening.
Since then, I have not gotten any response from them despite sending them mail twice.

God will favour us all.

Hello. I applied for the MCF scholarship to mcgill and UBC. I was granted a fee waiver by mcgill and have applied. I'm waiting to hear from UBC though they sent an email update.
Please can anyone tell me what the interview is like?, any potential questions they might ask?
Congratulations to you.

The last update I got from MCF was "acknowledgement of receipt of my application supporting documents with a promise to pre-screen them soon". This was in late November.
I sent a mail yesterday requesting for an update but no feedback yet.

The application deadline for the programme that I am applying for is January 15th 2024.

Please when did you get the application fee waiver from McGill?

Thank you very much.

Fantastic! Well done, bro- rooting for you. Yes, you have a good CGPA (minus your advanced standing GPA) to be considered for the first round. I think MCF should give you a waiver, and your CGPA should get you to McGill. I should stress that, that depend on other factors- like pool of applicants (if they have tons of other competitive applicants), other document submitted by you. Since you've submitted, you have to wait and keep the hope alive. Please email MCF this week to ask about your status!

In summary, if you're granted a waiver, you can submit your application to the department. If the department admits you, then MCF will review your application for the scholarship (winners to be announced by March/April).

For your other question- YES, you can start PhD (again, depends on many factors)- but generally, you're not going back unless you wish to go! Mastercard is quite flexible.

Whao! Thank you very much boss for the detailed response and the words of encouragement. It has energized me greatly. I will update you on any new development. I am very grateful.

Who applied for the Mastercard Scholarship at McGill here? Or any school? Do you have any questions? Ask here; I'm happy to answer them.
Good evening boss.
I applied for MCF scholarship at McGill University, University Of British Columbia, University Of Carlifornia, Berkeley, University Of Cambridge and University Of Edinburgh respectively.

I have submitted application form for University Of Carlifornia and University Of Cambridge respectively. Also, I have filled the application form for MCF scholarship at University Of Edinburgh and McGill University respectively.

Currently awaiting application fee waivers from MCF for McGill and British Columbia respectively.

Please I will like to ask the following questions.
1. I graduated with a CGPA of 4.24 on a scale of 5.0. My CGPA for the fourth and fifth year of my undergraduate studies is 4.64. Please do I stand a chance of passing the first stage seeing that most beneficiaries are first class graduates?

2. Please assist in summarizing what the process looks like from application to getting offer letter based on your personal experience.

3. Can beneficiaries start PhD programme there immediately after graduation or they must return to their country of residence immediately after graduation?

Thank you very much.

That will be very lovely to see.

Makoko is an environmental disaster.

The blue smoke from kerosene usage that politest the air of that location, the use of the water as their toilet and waste disposal on such a scale should not be tolerated due to sentimental reasons......meanwhile some people are feeding of renting out shanties and water allocations for constructing more shanties.

It's also a vast, dirty, depressing eyesore located at the most vantage point possible.

They should be relocated and the waterfront put to better use to improve the Lagos state environment.
Exactly. Thank you for the detailed analysis.
Few love the status quo there as they are gaining from it massively.

seconded the motion for second reading

Honourable colleagues, Mr Speaker; I Honourable headofschool second this motion and urge the house to treat as urgent. Having an area like that does not only disfigure the face of our state but also breeds diseases and criminal activities. I believe if handled with rightly, the area could be cleaned as serve as important recreational area for the state. we could have property developers get down on it to establish massive structures that will fetch the government more money. The residents of Makoko needs to be saved from destroying themselves with this lifestyle, however government should put proper relocation plan in place not just evacuation notice. I support a greater Lagos, eko oni baje o! 💪🙏
Thank you very much for your input.

Politics / Some LP Supporters From The East Should Stop This Hypocrisy by blackfish(m): 7:35pm On Apr 02, 2023
Kenneth Okonkwo messed up with that useless response and deserved to be queried.
What I find annoying is that most people rallying support for him despite his error on Twitter are Easterners.
He hasn't deleted the useless tweet despite knowing the audio recording is fake.

Would people have rallied support if this error came from someone not from the East? E.g Tanko Yinusa, Akin
I detest this greatly.

Nobody should defend Kenneth for this error at all. He deserves to be questioned.

I remain obedient.
The call recording is totally fake.
Politics / Kenneth Okonkwo Is Foolish by blackfish(m): 4:30pm On Apr 02, 2023
He didn't consult anyone before releasing a damaging response to the fake call recording within an hour that it was released.

This man should be stripped of his position in LP.

No amount of debunking the call subsequently will be believed by people again.

To make it worse, he is yet to delete the trash he posted 15hours ago.

It wasn’t even about tinubu but d issue between ajimobi n folarin n d reckless utterances of ajimobi

So come off your tinubu hate
Your foolishness is mind-blowing if not you won't tag anyone with opposing views as Igbo.

If not that you are mentally imbalanced, then you will worry more about who governs your wretched Igbos states, and let Yorubas worry about who governs Yoruba land
It seems you ran away from a mental rehabilitation home as your warped mentality is "anyone that raises an eyebrow against APC is automatically Igbo".

This is all Tinubu's camp need to win Lagos election every four years. Remind Yorubas how Omo Igbos are planning to take over Lagos through the strongest opposition party.

Imagine illiterate MC Oluomo deceiving supposed learned Yorubas that Igbos from Southeast have a secret agenda to take over Lagos and they believe him and turn to wild animals attacking their Igbo neighbors they had been living peacefully with for years.

My own is that every Igbo person ought to learn a lesson from this 2023 election. Any Igbo that refused to learn and apply wisdom is a fool and deserve whatever befalls him in Lagos now or in future
I pray one day the electorates will not be influenced by this trick.

Yes, that's what they do every four years.

They only promote tribal politics.

Like you said, they will still come up with this hypocrisy in 2027.

They are so predictable...

I saw a banner where they tagged Jimi Agbaje an ibo project. Let them continue until MC Oluomo or Seyi Tinubu becomes governorship aspirant; by then they'll understand the true meaning of localised slavery. 'OUR LAGOS'
Tinubu tried to use the same trick in 2019 in Oyo state by tagging Seyi Makinde as Igbo agenda. He told the electorates that Makinde was nominated by an Igbo man named Uche Secondus who happens to be PDP national chairman then.

However, the trick failed.

AD termed PDP gubernatorial candidate in 1999 and 2003 as Igbo agenda in order to win.

AC tagged PDP gubernatorial candidate as Igbo agenda in 2007 in order to win.

ACN tagged PDP gubernatorial candidate as Igbo agenda in 2011 in order to win.

APC tagged PDP gubernatorial candidate as Igbo agenda in 2015 in order to win.

APC tagged PDP gubernatorial candidate as Igbo agenda in 2019 in order to win.

APC tagged LP gubernatorial candidate as Igbo agenda in 2023 in order to win.

Come 2027, APC will still tag the candidate of the leading opposition party as Igbo agenda in order to win.

It is high time this country is dissolved and we go our separate ways via referendum.

Look at the different attacks been unleashed on people because of election.

Intimidation of voters and unavailability of voting materials in many polling units.

The annoying part is that some people are encouraging the thugs on this forum.

A big shame

NB: I am not Igbo before anyone starts attacking me for voicing out.
