UnclePati:Learn the act of decency especially on a public forum like this. |
I recently visited Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's facebook page and I discovered that almost all the contents on that page are full of insults and tribal bigotry. The painful part is that most of his followers believe that Kanu can never be wrong. I noticed anyone that drops an opposing comment to Kanu's view is usually bullied, cursed and threatened. I hate injustice according to what Kanu said he is fighting against but it must be fought in a decent manner. |

Good morning everyone. I am writing this article in order to express the plight the people of Iwoye Ketu/Jabata ,a political ward in Imeko Afon LGA of Ogun State are facing. Iwoye Ketu is a border town very close to Benin Republic. This town has suffered what i term "unfathomable neglect by the FG and OGSG ".The political ward currently has no tarred road, bank, ATM and Police Station in this 21st century. As a result of absence of Police station, a part of the political ward operates a parallel Police system. I appeal to Ogun State Government to spread the development majorly been experienced in Abeokuta and its environs to other parts of the state and also call on FMARD to show urgent concern to the plight facing the people of Iwoye Ketu and Imeko Afon LGA as a whole. God bless Iwoye Ketu, Imeko Afon, Ogun State, Nigeria and Africa. Picture 1- The king of the village Picture 2 and 3- The untarred road that links Iwoye Ketu to Imeko town( The LGA headquarter). Picture 4: The welcome signpost at the border of the village.

The rainy season is upon us. So, it is not uncommon to find people walking with umbrellas to avoid getting wet . But in Iwoye-Ketu, a border community in Imeko/Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State, people don’t bother carrying an umbrella “just in case”. The use of umbrella is a taboo in this community and the consequences could be dire. The tradition dates back hundreds of years when its first settlers discovered the land. Since then, the belief has been passed down from one generation to the other. Most of the community members were born into the cumbersome tradition; groomed in it and have become accustomed to it despite western education. In the absence of umbrellas, residents are accustomed to the use of polythene bags, rain coats, boots, trays, hoods and traditional woven hats (akete), depending on their suitability to the sun or rain. The community, which is mostly inhabited by Yoruba people, has a mixture of other tribes including Egun, Hausa, Igbo, Fulani, Igede and Ohoi. The indigenes and settlers are highly industrious with farming as their major occupation. History has it that one man named Olumu, believed to be one of the many sons of Oduduwa and a great hunter, had journeyed from Ile-Ife and after passing many towns finally settled in the place that is today known as Iwoye-Ketu. He was accompanied by his family members and other well-wishers that with him. Olumu was said to have migrated to Iwoye Ketu with three major items: a crown, a staff called "Opa Ogbo" and his deity called "Orisa Oluwa". The deity according to the tradition was said to have forbidden Olumu and his descendants from using umbrellas during their stay on earth. Our curiosity to ascertain the veracity of the taboo led Bounce News to visit the community. Though the head of Iwoye- Ketu kingdom, Oba Joek Ademolaw was not available to comment, Bounce News, met a man whose voice on such issue could not be discarded. Chief Olasunkanmi Oke, the Otun Bale of Jabata, Iwoyeland described the use of umbrella within the community as an affront on the Orisa Oluwa deity. His words: “The use of umbrella as a cover, during the rainy or dry season or any occasion for that matter is forbidden in the community. “The use of umbrella is not just a big offence, but an abomination and effrontery against one of our revered deities.” Joel Ademola Asipa, another elder in the community, corroborated Oke 's claim that the use of umbrella is forbidden in the town. He said the norm is still in vogue. Ashipa said for as long as the town exists, the taboo will subsist. He also admitted that attempts made in the past to break the taboo came with great consequences. “There was a particular time wild animals invaded the town and when Orisa Oluwa was consulted, it said an individual in the community that has gone against its wish by using an umbrella. Ashipa added that Orisa Oluwa has been the protector of the town and is known to have ward off lots of evil things from the people. The umbrella is the logo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and politicians from the opposition parties, have not missed the opportunity to use the taboo to their benefit during political campaigns. Oludare Ogundiran Joseph, a PDP stalwart confirmed the situation, saying his party can’t come to Iwoye-Ketu during its campaign and spread its symbol. Joseph, a former elected councilor said as a result, his party members have to explain to residents that they are not dishonouring tradition. During Bounce News’ visit to the community, there was a heavy downpour and it was observed that the tradition was followed to the letter. Some elders of the community still visit the shrine of Orisa Oluwa to perform the required annual rites. The shrine is considered to be the holiest place and essential core of the community. Our correspondent’s visit to the shrine showed that the place is undergoing renovation. Uniquely, rearing or the presence of pigs in the community for any reason is also a taboo. Orisa Oluwa forbids pig farming because pigs are dirty. Our correspondent did not sight a pig during his visit to the community. Historically, Iwoye-Ketu produced the first, second and fifth Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland. Aare Ona Kakanfo is similar to a field marshal and is conferred upon the greatest soldier and tactician of that era. WATCH VIDEO HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKVq82kPr7g |

It is a known fact that Ogun APC initially agreed to cede its governorship to Ogun West I.e Yewaland due to the fact that no Yewa person has ever ruled the state since its creation 43years ago until Tinubu factor set in. When Tinubu saw that Ogun APC had decided to zone its ticket to Ogun West, he presented Solomon Adeola Yayi though a Yewa man but based in Lagos completely to Ibikunle Amosun in order to have the ticket given to him. Amosun totally rejected the idea of giving Yayi the ticket because of the premise that he was an Ogun-based man. That was why Amosun sacked some Ogun NLC leaders in 2016 for trying to back up Yayi. He also said he knows those that will never be Ogun state governor It is a known fact also that Yayi contested for APC Ogun West ticket in 2015 but lost out and he ran back to Lagos to contest for Lagos West senatorial district election which he won Tinubu felt disappointed in Amosun and lured Osoba Olusegun who had defected from APC to SDP prior to 2015 elections back to the APC in order to have a strong force against Amosun in Ogun APC. With the support of Osoba, Tinubu and Oshiomole , a Remoland indigene in person of Dapo Abiodun who contested Ogun East senatorial district election in 2015 but lost to Buruji Kashamu got the APC ticket fraudulently ahead of Amosun anointed candidate in person of Abdulkabir Akinlade , a native of Ipokia in Ogun West Also Amosun loyalists that won Ogun APC house of Assembly tickets were denied of their ticket in the long run and were replaced with Osoba candidates Due to this development, Amosun told all his loyalist that got cheated by APC to defect to APM and contest. Who is to be blamed? What did Osinbanjo do as VP when Ile Ife natives and northerners clashed but only Ile Ife natives and their king were paraded as suspect in police headquarters, Abuja? Stop pettiness |

dustmalik:Show me where I ever supported any public official for saying e.g 50 Igbos killed or 100 Tivs killed During the Benue herdsmen crisis, Governor Orton never said 100 TIVs or Idomas where killed. Rather he will say 100 people were killed in Guma or Logo local government |
El Rufai was interviewed yesterday regarding the recent killing of 66 people in Kaduna and the first sentence he made in reply to the interviewer's question was "66 Fulanis were killed ................." Is El Rufai right or wrong to say "66 Fulanis were killed" instead of "66 people were killed" judging the fact that such statement from a governor can cause reprisal attacks which will further aggravate the situation? I watched the interview on Channels TV yesterday night |
