Have owned that W204 for 4+ years now.
Apart from suspension parts,only significant thing I changed is rear differential for a cheap 25k.
Others na wear and tear items.
I wonder how ppl erroneously think that car is expensive to maintain.

there is a way they bypass the EIS. But then, the vehicle is at risk of theft. They also work on this module in ladipo, get a new key and program to it for about 50k or less.

you're right, that applies if the ESL still opens. It was stuck in lock in my case and i preferred to have it changed altogether, EIS still works fine

Asking the real questions. Probably not, I'd say. Though it's possible the replacement units are sourced from the latter models that didn't have that issue.

i hope for my sake that its permanent , 120k as a one off is quite fine but twice, ill sell it . my new key is a 2012's too, might have to do with the module they replaced it with, just fishing in the dark here

WHEN EIS STRIKES
I think everyone needs a distraction from these endless fights so I'll drop the gist of my recent travails with the W204 C300.
I went out in the morning and returned home, no issues.
Wanted to go get something nearby but when I stuck my key in the ignition, I didn't hear the ESL unlocking. Turned it to start and nothing happened, bros was telling me to remove key from ignition
And so it began. My mech came in to check it out, verdict: Almighty EIS has struck
He tried knocking/tapping it but the ESL wouldn't bulge so he disassembled the steering and took it with him alongside the EIS.
2 days later, he's back with the ESL replaced and a new key, all had been programmed of sort. Then he was able to start the car and take it to his shop to complete other programs and repairs.
Now this is the shocker, given the past experiences i read on this, I was already scared on repair cost but it turned out quite alright, the fix cost roughly 120k.
I'd say any C300 is good to go if this is one of the worst issues it can have, everything else is pretty solid.
When I got it in January, I changed water pump, front shocks,linkage and plugs, besides those, its been a joy to drive.

I need some advice please, I got this camera for my car and i have installed the camera but I have issues with the wires.
Can anyone advise on where to connect which wire?
I reckon the blue wire (backup wire power) goes to the reverse light in the trunk.
Then, I've tapped power with the ACC power wires( red and black coming from the benz adapter) from the radio power cable behind the radio unit and connected the earth to the radio's too( I hope this is right)
Monitor connector is already plugged in too.
I can't place where the other blue wire (backup sign scan)
should go, please help.

I don't think anyone would say that. It's a pretty straightforward wiring job. I think the way it's done is to let it draw power from one of the rear lights or something, so it only comes on when reversing. I'm not sure.


Either way, you should be safe drawing power from the cigarette lighter source. Make sure the entire thing is properly insulated.

You're right but the setup I got isnt wired like that. The power and ground cables are at the radio end of the system not the trunk area. The only wire in the trunk area is the blue wire

I've been planning/procrastinating to do same for more than four months now, so my bros can actually back out properly from the compound when I'm away, mine is a fairly straightforward reverse camera setup (rear view mirror not COMAND). I've lacked proper motivation to get on with it. I don't intend to remove my Sirius Radio - love the simplicity of it, Bluetooth, HDD. Don't care for the Satellite Radio/Navi that rarely works in Naija, when I have Maps.

Tap your camera activation fee your reverse light, and one from ground. The reverse light on your car has 12V live feeding it power.That red ACC wire can be and should be tapped into your cigarette lighter wire. NOTE, in most Mercedes, they use bunch of wires which loops into a socket and the socket plugs into a panel which has metallic connector plates upon which bulbs are inserted.

Hello everyone, I did a bit of DIY on my c300 today. Ordered a hi-def reverse camera and finally got it yesterday. I installed the camera in the license plate lamp slot, ran the wires through the trunk to the cabin and down to the radio head unit. This is where I have a problem. In the tutorial I saw on youtube, the power cables were at the camera end so power could be taken from the fuse box in the trunk but for the camera I got, the power cables are at the video plug end of the setup where the video cord connects to the radio. I've plugged in the video cable and I know how to configure the camera to start being read by command but it can't work yet because the camera needs a constant power source and I don't know where to tap that in the head unit area.
I was considering tapping from under the cigarette lighter, the voltage supplied there is same as recommended for the camera but I'm not too sure.
Then I'm not sure where the blue wire in the photo goes, please advise if you have any thoughts.

P.S. I understand some folks might be tempted to say i shouldn't have tried DIY but this wasn't about cutting cost, I wanted to do it myself coz I've always been interested in stuff like this and even a Merc isnt scared.
