🙏 Please I need a good Benz rewire around Yaba. I’m having a parasitic drain. My tail left tail light is cracked and water rusted the light circuit.

I’ve replaced the circuit and everything is working fine, but my battery runs down if I park overnight and don’t drive the next morning.

Car model: C300 4matic 2009.
I'll refer you back to Abbey, ask him to call Shola for you. He works on the same street and has been my goto Benz rewire for a while.

That said. how long have you had this battery? Are you sure its not an age problem? These batteries are dry cell and can only last for so long

Please i need help.

I received the passport request letter on aug 7th, i have 30days to send my documents (which is 5th of September).
However, i am getting married on 8th of sept.

I have sent webforms to IRCC but i still haven’t received any response.

What can i do?
1. Should i send my travel documents to IRCC?
2. Should i wait till they respond to my webform?

I am really confused. Please help

2 options,
1. Send your passport and send webform to add your spouse immediately after the wedding. Current COPR will be cancelled and application reopened. Note that shipping fee will be wasted.

2. If in Lagos, you can get your court wedding done before the 30 days expire and raise webform to notify IRCC of the change in status and add spouse.

Hello all,

Please i have something bothering me about my PR application

I currently have a PR application

I am looking to get married before the end of the year but then i am thinking,
1. Should get my PR, go to canada and come back to marry then wait for another 6months for my partner to get the visa to come join me in canada
Or
2. Should I inform IRCC that i want to get married
2.1 if yes, when should i inform them (Before receiving my Passport request or After ??)
2.2 if i inform them, how soon would i need to get married after informing them?
2.3 what documents would i need to submit to add my partner to the PR application
2.4 How long do you think it would take for IRCC to process our visas?
This thing depends entirely on what stage you're on.
Since you said you have an ongoing application I'll assume you've submitted everything and just awaiting a decision.
1. The ball is in your court, it's more expensive though having to fly back and forth, it might take more time and finally distance works negative wonders on ships.
2. Depends, at the current rate, applications are getting processed in 1 to 3 months. Will you be married before it's completed? When PPR is sent they'll ask you to update if there has been a change in your status, marital inclusive. If you're not married by then there's nothing to declare
2.2 Inform IRCC immediately after the wedding if you choose to get married, provided your application is still in progress. Even if it's concluded they'll withdraw the COPR and reopen your application to add your spouse as long as you haven't landed
2.3 there's a bunch of forms captured in the PPR mail alongside spouse passport, spouse medicals, police certificate, birth and marriage certificate
2.4 might take up to 6 month, might be less or more. Average time I've seen lately has been around that. It's faster if all fees are paid and sent with other documents via webform.
Note that marriage proof to IRCC is the court issued marriage certificate. If you're serious about adding your partner, get that done and plan your ceremonies for later in the year so they can process for both of you together; less waiting that way. Imo its best done after you've passed medical biometric and before PPR

Is it advisable to pay the $1450 application fee for spouse addition and attach evidence when sending the webform to update the profile.
For context, principal applicant received RFV 3 days before wedding and a webform was raised to notify IRCC, this has been acknowledged on the tracker but placeholders are yet to be created.
The additional forms have been filled for submission via webform ahead of placeholder creation.
Help plzzz

Thank you. This was very helpful.
Just the info I have been searching for.
Under the section asking for reason.. One is to pick TRAVELLING not residency bah (for EE)?

Also do you know if they work on weekends and public holidays?
I chose residency and that's what it says on the certificate issued.
I don't know If they open on weekends, you can call 08034747802 Inspector Moshood to confirm.
If the payment is confirmed on the portal and an invoice is available, you can go and capture. No need to wait for a message, I got the message to go for capturing 48hrs after I had gotten the PCC.
Then check the portal for the certificate after 12 to 24hrs, I didn't get a mail but I was able to download it there

Has anyone done the online police clearance?
What's the flow after payment please
Did this today.
After the 30k payment, print out the invoice and take it to Alagbon or your preferred location selected.
They'll capture your biometric electronically and you can be on your way.

There was alot of pple waiting and I was pressed for time so I called the neighborhood Inspector. Paid 15k and I was done in about 5 minutes.
Was told to expect soft copy in my mail within 24hrs

Don't we all look for something more than ordinary when we go for German cars?
Fact still remains - ANYBODY TRULY ENJOYING HIS MERCEDES BENZ WITHOUT PROBLEMS HARDLY SELLS, Except money problems or multiple cars....

If you truly want to enjoy a mercedes, source for it abroad, ship, and enjoy.

Of course, you can find a Nigerian used one in pristine condition, but not the older generations riddled with failing modules here and there.

It's a rare gem as you opined, and is that a risk the OP is willing to take?

I give up. To each his own

They're definitely good ones, but that's a story for another day...
Try finding a needle in a haystack..

Why do people buy Japanese cars in large numbers? Their ability to tolerate abuse....

Nigerians are careless to the maintenance culture required for German cars.
Of course we have maintenance freaks, but that is a meager number.
Not necessarily the ability to tolerate abuse coz Mercedes can actually take it too. It's more of an information gap and a perception.
People hear benz and the first though is "its expensive" but I was using Mobil 1 to service my corolla back then and still would if I drive a jap. Did I have my fears when I bought the benz? Certainly! But I went out a a limb to try it out and I don't see myself going back.
Not to knock other brands, they're nice and equally rugged but I want more than ordinary and Mercedes gives me that even in a 15yr old product.

False.
Buy older Japanese cars Nigerian used? No problems.
It'll take minimal efforts to restore back to factory settings, except you bought an over-abused lemon.

Buy a 15 year old German car (Nigerian used) is asking for problems, because something must fail. Why? They're over engineered unnecessarily, and an endless pocket drainer.

Example - I have an 09 cls550 and a 2015 cls500(sourced tokunbo) and it's been a smooth sail for 3 years or so...
An acquaintance has a 2010 variant (sourced locally) and it's been problematic regularly and endless repairs.

Of course they're good Nigerian used Mercedes Benz cars, but for cars that are 15 years old? That's like finding a needle in a haystack...
I agree alot of them can be problematic but that's hinged on the maintenance culture ovrr time. I was going to clock 200k miles with mine before selling and I can bet you the buyer isn't having any regrets and it should be over 200k miles by now.
Point is there are good ones, my current is an E350 that I bought registered too and it's a joy to drive, haven't spent up to 150k on it and that includes servicing. I didn't even need a mechanic to make the buy decision when I went to inspect it and I found a couple of good ones before deciding on the one I bought.
You'll find the gems if you look hard enough

i warned, but he didn't listen.

I'm not being a pessimistic brat, but Nigerians have weird maintenance culture; and German cars with truck loads of electricals is a time bomb to buy ( sourced locally)

It's a major pointer as to why most guys who drive Mercedes source here for it abroad, and ship down...
Sbs, Abs, Eps, coolant levels, tyre pressure don show you shege before?
I repeat - ABORT MISSION.
Granted, alot of people are terrible at maintenance but those cars aren't hard to fish out.
These things are straightforward to fix. If the gear, engine and AC havent been tampered, I'll bite. I installed TPMS in my old one, changed speed sensor to sort out ABS and I was good to go. Craziest part is the parts were cheap. They're rugged, ensure engine isn't smoking and read the DTC, it will actually speak to you. I went from an 05 corolla to the Merc and the experience was so unique that I don't want to drive another brand. Again, don't do it alone if you don't know your cars well, that's the key. Then consider the alternative, 2012 camry Is above that price for mediocre driving...God abeg

Thanks a lot, bro, I am a bit relieved now grin
I have written down all these things you mentioned.
Now one last thing, when I see a mileage of a car reading 120k plus, I lose interest because I have this mindset that the car is about to expire grin Should I be worried about that too?
Also, what do you think is the reasonable price range? I have been seeing some Naija use for like 3.5, 3.8, and 4Million.
And lastly, I read somewhere that upgraded Benz cars often develop electrical issues is this true?
Thanks a lot.

I bought mine at 157k miles and sold it at 199k, it's all about how you use your car. An upgrade shouldnt affect electricals really since it's mostly plug and play. I ran a bit of DIY upgrades on mine and didn't have any electrical issues. A bad car is a bad car, go with one that hasn't been too tampered. I sold mine at 3.7m in February, no check light but ive also seen same car sold at 3.2 and 4m so I'd say around that range isn't bad. This is mine when I bought it registered vs when I sold.
Great deals come and go, just go with someone who knows their onion and don't buy based on just how it looks

Thanks a lot for this update, I want to buy a Benz too but when you I some people's comments here I start to panic again, My plan is to get a c300 2008/2009 model (Naija use) Please what should i look out for? I love this CLS too.
Feel free to get your C300, i enjoyed mine before switching up to E class; there's nothing to fear. The usual suspects are linkage and lower arm, beside that you're good.
Have the registered one checked well, scan it, inspect underbody, run vin history, assess flood damage, look out for electrical bypass, sludge in engine, smoking exhaust etc. There are lots of good ones out there, do your due diligence and enjoy your car.
They're rugged, at least mine was

Please, this police certificate, can it be obtained on someone else's behalf?
Yes it can, the principal will need to do the thumbprinting and send a clear copy for use. I did that for my sister in Netherland

if you have gotten ITA and submitted (AOR). You will only need to update POF and do medicals for her.

If you have not submitted (no AOR) her eca and ielts will be needed as scores need to be recalculated if it falls short of the crs scores. Application rejected.
I thought police certificate will be required too, please confirm

I got my COPR and counterfoil yesterday. I had submitted my passport to the Lagos VFS on the 21st of March and got pickup email on the 25th of April. Passport and COPR were both processed in Accra (Lagos automatically sends there at no extra cost for now cos they don’t have stamps). For those who may be planning to use either Lagos or Accra, you can shorten your timeline (if pressed for time) by using DHL. I say this because my counterfoil was generated since the 14th (same issue date for COPR) but it still took a while for Accra to send back to Lagos.

Has anyone gotten PTA recently from their bank? The only bank I have the minimum of 6 months banking history with is Stanbic and their limit has been reduced to $2k which is painful. I applied for PTA this morning and I still put $4k as the amount I need. I’ll see how it goes. A bit of a mischievous question: can we apply for PTA at multiple banks? Would one bank know if another bank has approved your PTA application? My husband has two main bank accounts with 2 banks and I was thinking he should apply with both.
The CBN limit is still 4k, bank are only reducing to 2k to manage demand. You can apply with 2 different banks but must have a return ticket.
