If care is not taken, Ukraine might become history one day. It's president thinks we've gone to far to back off from this war. They've lost almost everything to Russia which they can't recover again, imagine loosing almost part of your country to another country.

Zellensky messed up big time. Putin is doing what any other sensible ruler will do, he's protecting his people from external aggression.
I think most people support Ukraine because humans are generally wired to support whoever we think is the underdog in a fight, but the truth is that Ukraine has always been one of the countries with the strongest military in Europe. Even with billions of dollars in military aid, intelligence, armaments etc from more than 20 NATO countries, they're still having their asses handed to them.

Zellensky should've respected the Minsk Agreement, but instead he chose to allow the West use his country as a battleground between NATO and Russia

There is more at risk, you only talking about few interests that wouldn't do much to US GDP.
Trump is talking about a risk of nuclear war or full blown war with Russia, something that outweighs any form of Us interest in this war.

Normalizing relations with Russia is far more beneficial to US than strengthening it's ties with Ukraine.
This is not time for emotions, this is politics, it's not for boys.
