freegaza: Konduga is 10km from Maiduguri.... The attack has been going on since 1am up till this time...I am hearing the explosion in University of Maiduguri right now... It shall be well
BH diversion / enveloping tactics.

The military must win the Konduga battle with little or no change to the number of troops they previously had before the attack once they verify that BH has troops at Jere that are ready to strike.

They might give the Konduga defenders long range and mass antipersonnel firepowers

The military should scatter and hide 5 man squads of 3000 strong using long range silent sniper guns , 2km-5km outside Maiduguri to attack BH supplies, planning officers at the rear and heavy weapon operators

These 600 units of snipers operating behind BH lines should be able to wreck disaster fear and diversion when BH attacks Maiduguri. It will also force BH to divert some fighters to protect their rear thereby weakening their attacking numbers sent against Maiduguri.

Military should exploit the terrain to their advantage.

Above all , he's corrupt, clannish and divisive. I'm not an anti-gej for no just reason, but for the reasons i've mentioned. Like when Senator Kantin Bello was asked on what how is apc manifesto goin to b then? He rhetorically said to d reporters that "apc manifesto shall be not repeating the mistake gej is making." learning from gej's poor style of leadership and showing nigerians a better way is a manifesto itself.
I might make a far better president if i deviate from gej's style and embrace a more profitable style like hugo chavez and ghadafi's (even thou the latter was a dictator) or, other leaders that have achieved alot for their countries all over the world.

Diversion tactics

Draw the army to Konduga in order to reduce the number of troops defending Maiduguri and then attack Maiduguri.

How to beat BH plan

During the day, pretend to send reinforcements to Konduga while some will hide btw both towns. At night withdraw the ones that went to Konduga back to Maiduguri in vehicles bearing hospital symbols.

Repeat this process everyday as the battle rages in order to create the false impression that you are reinforcing the troops at Konduga. This will cause BH to plan wrongly which will cost them Maiduguri.

The hidden troops between both towns, will attack BH officers directing the attack against Maiduguri only at night with silent weapons in order to create panick when they find out that they are leaderless.

All this should be done only when battle starts

Warning

Send spies ahead to search out for ambush BTW both towns during each movement

Jonathan should take his TAN jobs and shove it where the sun does not shine.
Unknown to many Nigerians, APC and PDP economists have no clue on how to address this issue of unemployment.

Soludo had an idea on policies that can influence job and wealth creation. If we could remember, his 25billion naira bank capitalization, created an investment pool, lead to more bank branching resulting to more jobs and made available micro-credit for start up business.
The only two mistakes he made in micro-credit was failure to create long term low interest rate loans and collateral accounts(Non withdrawable deposit account a person can use as collateral to borrow money which will help to eliminate the practice of confiscating clients properties in the event of default i.e in the event of failure to pay)

Am yet to see anyone yet to rival him at federal, state or LG level.

Nigerian economists must start thinking out of their textbook knowledge after carefully studying our economy both formal and informal.

Fellow NL members

Sometimes we must set aside our political differences and tell our heroes the truth even if I costs us our friendship

I just read a topic on NL where GEJ was lambasting the idea of training graduates without providing jobs for them which prompted me to write this in order to encourage us to suggest new ways we can address unemployment issues.

Let us note that tomorrow no man knows the position he might find himself

MY VIEW IS BELOW AND YOUR INSULTS ARE WELCOMED

" The truth of the matter is that our economists have failed us in suggesting to us new ways of solving unemployment.

Most of them still keep stressing on skills acquisition and agriculture without asking themselves why these two paths chosen have not curtail rising unemployment.

The truth is that these economists have made GEJ, Fashola, Akpabio and other outstanding leaders look clueless and dumb in the face of unemployment.

It is time our economists keep away their books and study our economy to see how best it can be developed. Text book knowledge has failed us the way it has failed us in our struggle against BH.

Without wisdom , the most honest leaders are bound to fail eg Ojukwu and Buhari are good examples who though honest failed us because of lack of understanding.

The gospel truth is that our economists are the most clueless who have never proposed one new out of textbook economic theory we the citizens and leaders can apply to stop rising unemployment."

angela98: I think constant and stable electricity supply is one of the key factors to expansion and growth of businesses which could attract the needs for employment of new workers. Where businesses continued to rely on external sources of power supply to run their businesses, with the high prices of fuel and diesel, it makes the chances of achieving profit very slim. At the end its the workers and job seekers that suffers. Because the organization is trying to generate profit after so much outgoings on fuel and diesel, they began to cut corners and costs to generate profit..eg. the organization will feel no need to employ new workers. they would pay poor wages, short - staff, over labour of worker i.e one worker doing supposed six workers job, exploitation of workers rights, rogue trading, production and distribution of poor quality goods, no quality control, no employment benefits for workers like job security, accident and injury insurance, limited or no proper health and safety measures for workers..
Your theory is partially right

Ghana has a constant supply of electricity. Why hasn't it lead to massive employment to the point where Nigerians will troop there for employment

Unemployment is a global problem because of the faulty 20th century notion that job creation is the responsibility of government.

This has caused many people not to play their role in job creation

Note

Jobs don't fall from heaven, people create jobs.

iwonbaoko: Debt to GDP ratio is used as a CRUDE and I emphasize the word Crude to measure the ability of COUNTRIES to borrow.
It does not say anything about what the EXPENSES of the BORROWER are or how EFFICIENT the borrower is in extracting REVENUE from that GDP base.
Too this measure is used mainly for countries that have full tax raising powers from the said GDP base. To talk about Lagos State's GDP is an exercise in self deception. While the GDP may be real the state government is limited in its power to extract revenues from that GDP base for constitutional reasons e.g VAT accrues directly to the Federation account as do all the Excise duties from manufacturing and duties from the ports etc. In short the GDP is not available to Lagos State Government to exploit . This is no different from talking about the GDP of Akwa Ibom or any major oil producer. The GDP is high but the state does not OWN it and so to use that as a basis for borrowing is wrong.
What seems more sensible is the very basis
formula

Revenue Minus Expenses

Lagos state does not have any surpluses and that is why the fact that the FG withheld approval immediately stalled the Construction. From that perspective I would argue that Lagos state was in a better position to borrow under Tinubu's regime than now unless the government can find creative ways of increasing revenues. Lagos too is still vulnerable to shortfalls from the federation account though maybe less than others
Your comments show that you have a little understanding of public finance/economics when compared to most NL members

I want to see your perceptive in order to improve my view of life

First and foremost

Job creation is the responsibility of the government, unemployed and employed people.

Solutions

1) Education
a= Better understanding of personal financial management and its impact on socioeconomic prosperity. It should be introduced as a subject for primary 1- 500 level students to help people see how they can become another dangote. This will see the rise of more dangotes

b= Science engineering and technological education especially as it focus on
i~ How things work
ii~ How things are produced
iii~ How the sales of i and ii can generate wealth.
Basic Engineering-Technology should be introduced as a subject covering points i ii and iii for primary 1- 500level students . This will see the springing up of so many Innosons and bill gates in different engineering business fields

2) Low interest long term microfinance loans should be encouraged by govt banks businesses churches individuals etc Imagine loaning a widow 1000 000 naira to pay you 37000 naira monthly for 5yrs(60months). She will have enough profit left with her to expand her business thereby creating more jobs.
Then check the multiplier effect when we have millions of Nigerians enjoying this ideal.

3) Reorientation of the working class and self-employed class that they must strive to create profitable jobs and more profitable jobs respectively because it is part of their civic responsibility. Those who succeed, should be financially encouraged like dangote until they get to a point where they can apply for macro credits

4) Tax exemptions, breaks, waivers etc should be introduced

I have many more suggestions

First what do you have to say concerning these points

DVanguard: I agree with you that they need to start small before the get big. But you did not know that starting a research institute as lots of things that you need to put into consideration in terms materials and equipment's along side with funds that sometimes might come up with uncompleted research or failed projects.
You talked about heat seeking missile, it might cost $80000 but how much do the facility that produce that missile cost. Do you have the technological know how. Do you have the necessary materials to put things in place. If you are an Engineer then that is part of what we are talking about, half baked graduates. These facilities require lots of research and fund, with commitment. For now Nigeria is not close and i dont think we can be close.
To mass produce, is what am talking about, you don't have a steel company, your power supply is terrible, what infrastructure do you have that is working. Now to create that yourself as a state, can you understand the cost involved, planning etc.
It doesn't cost so much money when you start small

Aeronautic workshops cost billions today but started small in the beginning by the wright brothers

Most products you used today were discovered in one small unknown workshops/labs

Rockefeller built his first refinery with $4000 but died building refineries worth billions

Do not be frightened by today's huge cost but be encouraged by yesterday's small cost

DVanguard: This is the most gullible suggestion have ever come across, seeking for investor for research purpose. Why will i invest into your research institute if you are not known for something in that field. Do you think investors just invest for investing sake.
Let us assume the investors agree to invests, how much do you thing it takes to set up a research institute of reputable standard that will draw up investors.

Hospital Charges should be used to run hospitals (are u serious). Do the know the staff strength of any government hospital in Nigeria. The charges or money generated is not enough to pay even the junior workers not to talk of senior staffs and overhead of the hospitals. If Nigeria hospitals are giving full autonomy i don't think most people will get health services. The Health sector in Nigeria is heavily subsidies even in the face of corruption. You talked about creating a special account like insurance, who pays the insurance people for every service rendered to the people or patient. Do you think the money will fall from heaven.

You are very funny, Germans trains their military with simulated video and equipment. Do you know how much it cost to set up such facility. Do you think when it comes to military intelligence you make it known to your future enemy or friend country.

It seems you don't understand the cost of all this facilities and programs. it cost Germans and Americans millions of dollars over the years on research before they are achieve. Wake up from the dream land gee.

Point of correction

Some of the most reputable research institutions started small. As they succeeded, they expanded and advanced further using investors money.

Real and computer simulated videos are cheaper that is why Advance Nations use them to train their citizens

Do you know that a heat seeking missile cost $80 000 that is why only US soldiers that have high scores using simulated videos are allowed to train with the real missile

But in the event you are not pretending.

2.Serious universities have budgets in excess of $200MILLION (in the American currencies).

3.Norway's second largest university.....has a budget of $800million....(Norway is the second largest producer of oil....and has a population of 11 million people....so of course they can afford that....plus Norway has industries).

My point is....if you want free education it is either you have the cash and the low population to sustain it,or Lagos starts producing oil at the amount Saudi and Norway do at current prices....or you raise fees.

Because pretty soon, our uni grads will lose out to better trained foreign graduates....all because the kudi isn't enough.

Unless you have N10 trillion to donate to Nigeria's universities.
LASU has a budget less than 15billion according to you
OK

If Fashola desires to see LASU graduate high quality graduates , he should take the following steps

1) Introduced real and computer simulated videos as teaching and learning materials to save training cost and perfect their skills before they are allowed to use real life learning materials

2) LASU should encourage marketable projects at University , Faculty and departmental levels. He should use his influence to market the projects to FG Companies and the international community eg Nigerian Army needs drones. LASU students can be asked to contribute 5000 naira each which will be used to develop a drone that will be sold to the military. If LASU students are 10 000 in numbers, the project money will amount to 50million which is sufficient to build a medium size drone. If successful, it can be sold to the army at 4 times the cost which is 200million of which the money can be re-invested into the research lab/workshop and further other research works like ebola vaccine

So,you are proposing to spend 1/4 of the state revenue on JUST one world class hospital? And we have not yet started talking about maintenance costs either....or fuel costs.Or the health budget for the other health centers, salaries, etc.

Ya think?

Oil producer Norway's second largest university has an annual budget of $800 million. LASU spends N14MILLION per annum.

Want to know why?

Which leads to the ACTUAL point of my original comment....which you think is a defense of your pal Fashola.(It isn't.

P.S....You better read the article. RICH KID,.POOR KID: THE FALLACY OF EDUCATION SUBSIDIES IN NIGERIA....answers the education issue well
Research and medical services are two different things.
Why research focuses on finding new things, medical services focuses on addressing medical challenge using existing knowledge.
And if Fashola seeks to make the hospital research oriented, all he needs to do is to invite investors to invest in a research project with the agreement of sharing the gains of success.

How do you think Indians handle their Maintenance cost
Guy, hospital charges paid by people will be used to pay for it.
He can even create a scheme whereby people can have a special account with Insurance companies connected to the hospital so that if they have any medical challenge these insurance companies can foot their bills

I repeat

For non pure , applied and medical sciences, real and computer simulated videos can reduced the use of real lab/workshop learning materials thereby reducing cost of education. This can also help to perfect their skills before they are allowed to make use of real life learning materials.

Note

US use simulated video to train their troops before they handle real weapons.

Germany use simulated videos to train their pilots before they handle real planes

This help them to save training cost and equipping cost

You are computer literate

Ponder on what I just said below

Remember

There are many paths to success. It is your duty to find out these paths, their certainty and cost before picking a path
