The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has issued a stern warning to state governments yet to implement the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage, signaling a possible nationwide confrontation if delays persist.

Speaking in Ilorin on Monday during the union’s 19th quadrennial state conference for 2026, NUT National President, Audu T. Amba, made it clear that the patience of teachers across the country was wearing thin.

Amba, who was represented at the event by the union’s National Social Secretary, Titilope Adebanjo, warned that the union would not hesitate to mobilise its members against non-compliant states.

chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mohammed Jamo, has said he would work towards bringing former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, back into the ruling party if given the opportunity.

Jamo, who serves as the National Ex-Officio of the APC, made the remark on Monday while speaking on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

“I, as a politician and as a stalwart and a leader within the APC Today, wouldn’t want a single individual no matter how politically connected is or not, we want everybody to be in the party. We want even more, even His Excellency Rabiu Kwankwaso, if I have a way to bring him to the APC I will pull him out from that place (ADC),” Jamo said.

His remark comes amid shifting political alignments following Kwankwaso’s recent defection to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

DAILY POST reported that a large crowd gathered in Kano on Monday to witness the former governor formally join the party, where he received his membership card.

The event was attended by top ADC figures, including National Chairman David Mark, former Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, ex-APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun, and former governors Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi.

Kwankwaso’s move to the ADC followed his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party a day earlier.

The former NNPP presidential candidate said his decision was driven by the need for a strategic political realignment in response to Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.

Just to let you know that there is absolute peace in my community now and people are already going back to the place. Our entire family also moved in late November, hence there is strong presence of both military and internal security to ensure calm is maintained to the end.

I see boreholes drilled and given first aid treatment most times, I also gathered that, a chemical was poured inside that it will treat the water from time but nothing changed, also getting worse.

This is all from me.

If you people can help them afford clean drinkable water for proper hygiene then we thank God.

If they machine-drilled to the proper depth and the water is unusable, then it might be a more complex situation.

I have always wish to know why. But I have this feeling that it was poorly drilled and probably no treatment attached.

I drink this river water running but has no taste. Despite the colour like palm wine.

But this borehole is colourless but forming and also hash, taste like salt.

Can you get more information on exactly what kind of borehole it is? If it is a hand-drilled shallow borehole, then that explains it.

On the other hand, if it's a deep machine-drilled borehole, can you get an explanation for why the water is the way you described?

The truth is, it been a year plus of no attacks. The presence of the military is just to ensure they regain total stability and peace. I can assure you that your life will not be tempered or anything.

When it comes to developments, I can assure you again that your safety is guaranteed.

Thanks for the input. From your description, it appears the community currently has an elevated insecurity situation.
For that reason, the team might be unable to execute a project there without putting themselves at increased risk.

Your description of the existing borehole water condition is also interesting. Are you certain it is a machine-drilled borehole and not a hand-drilled well with a hand pump attached? The poor quality of water from it sounds more like the latter.

I will add this community to the list of future potentials in the original post, in hopes the security situation stabilizes down the line.
If that happens, we'll be happy to revisit it, as it sounds like an otherwise good fit for intervention.

This community is the center of tswarev people. After the Fulani sent them away from their houses, they all came to settle in that said place. If I should tell you the distance to which they go in search of water you won't believe. There is a borehole there, but anytime you fetch the water sourced from the borehole, it never a good ideal for anything. If it bathing, it sleepy on body while bathing, when you boil it, it forms like when washing with detergent.

Communal have continuously depended on the river water as source of drinking water. Treated or not they are still firing it down the stomach.
