Honestly.....noise is not right all the time. All he needed to do was to allow the case proceed under Nyako, just for the motion for reclusion to be presented formally. The woman was ready to grant it today, based on the request of the chief judge...chikena!! The woman he was busy abusing today was the only judge who fought against Federal government under Buhari to grant him bail the other time. All others denied him bail. This same woman faced a lot of subjugation due to that judgement....lol gr8child: Lol. There's nothing as painful as listening to an ignorant person who likes to shout. |

Guy, check am yourself naah haba!! He asked that the chief judge be recused from his case formally, which he did. But this is purely and administrative matter. The chief judge is the administrative head of that part of the judiciary. All he has asked for is the call for reclusion to be formally presented via a motion(not a petition or a mere pronouncement by Kanu). If Kanu then ask everyone to recuse from handling his case does he then recuse the chief judge of the high court of Nigeria from all administrative functions too? If he takes the case to the East, would it not come under the same chief judge to assign the case and deal with all other administrative matters related to the case? Sometimes, wisdom and tact are often far more potent weapons when fighting for a cause or struggles. I read a lot of books on freedom fighting in the East and Southern african countries and saw the triumph of pragmatism, wisdom, tact and levelheadedness over recalcitrant and vituperative anger and violence.....do you think Mandela was in the top 10 of leadership of ANC? Do you think Kenneth Kaunda was even ranked among the fiercest or the strongest of freedom fighters in Zambia? Julius Nyerere was a kid in the freedom war of Tanzania but was most tactful and most intelligent. Kenyatta was a deserter to the cause of the Kenyan independence struggle and was seen as a sell ouy to the Mau Maus but he was considered the most pragmatic and tactful while using the laws of the British to fight them. Robert Mugabe was the 3rd in ranking to be leader of independent Zimbabwe, guess what? while others died in jails for their rantings and vituperations, he was pragmatic and tactful to understand to use the law and its processes against the colonialists. This Kanu dude is too arrogant to undertand that he is digging himself deeper to the claws of the laws of the land. If he claims the Chief judge too should recluse himself, then it only upon the retirement of the chief judge that his case can have any hint of being assigned, talkmore of being heard, because as it is, only the chief judge can reassign the case, even if the motion is heard and Nyarko is persuaded to call off the indefinute adjournment of the case Guy na mumu...he was even shouting his own lawyers down......he go tey for jail. 2tpick: "The same chief justice writing this stupid memo, I have recused him before. He sat on appeal, I took him to NJC and recused him. Why is he insisting on this one? He wants to embarrass your lordship by asking her to sit on this case.”
So does it mean Kanu forgot the procedures this time around? the chief judge wey dey give nyako directive didn't remember such when he himself was recused. I think it's Nigeria's judicial system that is on trial |

Read the report again. Nyako reclused herself but the Chief judge retuned the file to her requesting that Kanus prayer be filed via a motion that will be discussed by the court....simple. All he needed to do was to allow the proceedings to continue and the motion filed formally. He insisted that so long as the woman had reclused herself based on his oral request, she had no jurisdiction again. But the procedure for such is that the Chief judge will determine if that was appropriate or not and the Chief judge said No. So Nyako and Kanu had to work together to formalise the request as per the chief judge's request. Even the woman is tired of the case but she just had to follow the Chief judge's request. In the video clips, you could hear his lawyers trying to control him from his meaningless vituperations and rantings that were digging him in deeper into trouble. Due to his stupidity, he did not know that he had formally sacked his lawyers by a pronouncement to the judge when she asked him of he was willing to take over from his lawyers. The guy is too dumb abeg. And he actually claimed he is educated. Any alaigbo considering this one as a leader has missed road long time ago. Either his advisers are not telling him the truth because of their gains from the continuation of the case or Kanu himself is stupidly recalcitrant to objective reasoning. Tranquillity360: Who said he haven't done that and Nyako insists to continue the trial.

He will likely learn to be humble and seek for the case to be reopened so he can file for the motion of change of judge formally or die in prison. Lol....this eejjiiet is still posting gibberish here after being found out several times to lack the basic knowledge of Economics. The mumu that stated GDP-PPP and also said the best way to measure GDP is through local currency only, devoid of normalisation and international baselining....should be sitting at the back of his village square reading from superior thinkers and never have to dabble into this topic again. Go back to your paymasters and inform them you have been found out. Olodo!! casualobserver: I have already said this many times, But let me indulge you but this will be my last post in this e Obasanjo inherited an economy where oil price was $15 a barrel on the day of his inauguration, it steadily rose to end the year 1999 at $25 a barrel. So in his first 6 months in office he was fortunate through no action of his own to see more than a 60% rise in oil revenues. 2: by the time he left office in 2007 oil continued that steady rise throughout hiis administration Such that by the time he left office, oil was $67 a barrel more than 300% increase.
No president since 1999 has been so lucky to preside over a 300% increase in oil revenues consistent throughout his tenure. Therefore there was corresponding growth as a result.
Buhari on the other hand inherited an economy with crude oil at $64 (pic 3) on May 2015 and it went steadily downwards from there. Don’t forget prior to his assumption of office Oil had been $100+ and has been falling. Our economic fortunes were already plummeting under Jonathan. The resulting downturn was what led to Buhari’s victory in the 1st place. To compound matters for Buhari, our production fell from 2.3m to 1m by the time he left office in 2023. As at the time Buhari left office, the price of crude was $75. Not only was the price lower than his predecessor GEJ but the amount available to sell was half.
Any economy is always a comparison with the past. OBJ presided over an economy for 8 years where the price was double triple or quadruple of what Babangida or Abacha ever saw for 15 years. So without doing anything or any sound economic policies, providence blessed him with a buoyant economy and he didn’t do anything with the money except pay off some of our loans. Banagida built a new city Abuja, 3rd mainland bridge, shiroro dam with a lower price of crude. They were in power for the same number of years.
Since we judge economic growth based on where the economy was before, The benchmark for Buhari was an economy where oil was $100 under Jonathan so his timing was cursed and he was always going to struggle. His economy was never going to be good. That said as a poor economic manager, he didn’t help himself either in many ways.
You may find some telling you oil price went to $100 under Buhari. They are just being mischievous. While it is true, it was very brief and like I said we were producing half the oil as under Jonathan or Obasanjo.
Since you are only interested in comparing Buhari to OBJ. The summary is under OBJ, our oil Income was an average of 300% of what he met, while under Buhari, the oil revenue he had throughout his tenure was less than his predecessor. As price of oil goes so goes the Nigerian economy because we import everything! |

Would he have said so if the GDP was rising? I am sure he would have joined his fellow dimwits to dance and drum to all radio stations in Nigeria in high praises of his paymasters if the GDP was improving. GDP may not be a problem but it is a major indicator of how well an economy is doing but it is a reflection of how potentially buoyant the productive capabilities and the resilience of such an economy is. Reducing GDP is a major symptom of an impeding economic recession. And for once, you may be right, GDP is not Nigerias biggest problem, the biggest challenge Nigeria has is having buffoons line you in the majority, because wherever you have such, they end up voting one of them to be the leader(Bubari/Tinubu) and that usually would be the beginning of retrogression of such a society. casualobserver: Sometimes one comes across something so ludicrous you break your rules. You must be a simpleton to accept that buying Jamb forms for 50 students out of the miilions that need them, compared to the bilions allocated to that office,is considered "doing". No wonder they get away with all sorts in that country called Nigeria. The first thing you should have asked is how much budget that office received from Presidency and for what purpose exactly? The next would then be how much of that is being used for this program and how did they come up with the 50 students? I wont be surprised if the total cost of the Jamb forms is less than N3m but the amount of money spent on the publicity and event organising to create awareness of this "buying of Jamb forms" be more than N450m. Buy forms for N3m, use N450m to announce it. Someone is using your tax money to fuel his political ambition and settling his community at the expense of others and here you are supporting such.... Lol......thank goodness. I did not expect casualobserver(thought he would be wise to avoidbbeing exposed) to swallow the bait but he did. Now let me educate you a little, paragraph by paragraph and I will strive to avoid highlighting your level of semi-literacy so that the message can sink home better without noise. Paragraph 1: Ignored(rantings devoid of reasoning) Paragraph 2: (This is where the actual buffoonery started up) GDP figures are not determined and provided solely by countries. They are obtained from national sources but aggregated, converted, deflated, PPP(ed) and normalised by a body called International Comparison Program(ICP) to eliminate inaccuracies and bias using a method called "Balassa-Samuelson Model" before being accepted by international bodies. So it is not enough to gather national statistics, convert it to forex, deflate it, PPPed and start shouting to the world that this is your GDP and start boasting that you are the one that gave them the figure. ICP will review, and adjust it before any international audience will even look at it. Most times, the information you see on the websites of bodies like IMF/WTO/WordBank/AU/EU/CIA, etc., would have gone through the ICP normalisation before they can even touch it. The normalisation process by ICP is what this boy completely missed out. Giving out GDPs is not as simple as gathering local figures and releasing it as your numbers and everyone will accept it. It is a much complex exercise and that is why it is not usually calculated very year. What they do is to have a baseline year and make adjustments on a yearly basis based on incrementals (depending on which approach is being used for calculation: Income/Expenditure/Consumption approaches). Most other after the baseline year are projections/forecasts. Paragraph 2: ...continuation..." The world bank came out only 2 days ago to say in dollar terms our economy is still the largest in Africa and close to $600b. They are the experts! ". I laughed so hilariously at this point and it really re-emphasised my initial belief that this dude does not have the closest idea of how GDPs are calculated. Using someone's assumption of what a GDP is when even the Worldbank as a body has a much lower figure on their official website is called the fallacy of "cum hoc hergo propter hoc"..... assuming something is true because it was said by another person. Only simpletons will believe that sensational headline when the official World Bank website has it as $363.85bn as at January 2025 and forecast it to grow by 3.5% in 2025, so how will someone mention $600bn at a news conference and you decided to go to town with such?? Simpleton...is that you? Paragraph 2.......there is nothing like GDP-PPP. That is just a process for normalizing the GDP with the purchasing power parity after deflating it(by ICP). I knew you didn't have the fundamentals on this, you probably went somewhere to copy and regurgitate here. Paragraph 3......gibberish. Not worth wasting my time. Paragraph 4.......even more gibberish, that is far below my level to read at all Your attention? I don't think you have the faintest idea of your reputation here. You are classed in the same band as helinues, yarimo, etc,(irritants) that are only useful for their intrinsic entertainment value and acceptance of the reality of how degenerated Nigerian education system has become , nothing more. When I have a few minutes to spare here, I come to Nairaland to read comments from buffoons like you for laughter sake....nothing more abeg! I also hope no one is reading your posts and assuming you know what you are writing as you claimed to want to educate others....anybody that uses your knowledge for their economics subject will fail woefully. On any serious forum that is aimed at educating people, you would have been downvoted and banned for staining important bpdy of knowledge with your idiocy. Like I said to you earlier, go back to your little cousin in JS2 doing elementary economics to enlighten you better. He or she might save you from further embarrasment casualobserver: Your fundamental problem is you lack English comprehension. There is where your problems in life starts and ends. It’s why you can’t get a good job with your degree, it’s why you fail interviews. I have said it many times here on Nairaland many Nigerians speak English but do not understand English. You coming here thinking you are smart by telling us GDP is production, before nko? That’s not the subject of discussion. And if you want to get technical GDP is production, sevicies, consumption, govt spending net exports etc etc all calculated and added. So even the actual GDP you really don’t know how it is calculated.
our GDP is calculated in Naira. It is not calculated in dollars. We are the ones who calculate our GDP and who tell the world what our GDP is and we do it in Naira! No country tells another country what it’s GDP is. For the sake of Camparing countries, a base currency is used, in this case the dollar but it is acknowledged that it is not a very accurate way of comparing countries that is why you have other measures such as Real GDP adjusted for inflation, nominal GDP, GDP-PPP etc because what 1 dollar may buy in one country may vastly differ from what 1 dollar can buy in another. What you pay a graduate in one country is certainly not what we pay poorly educated graduates like you in Nigeria. These figures are just a guide. The world bank came out only 2 days ago to say in dollar terms our economy is still the largest in Africa and close to $600b. They are the experts!
I am simply telling you and your poorly educated crew that to convert our GDP to dollars you use the prevailing dollar exchange rate. Nigeria has only had 2 years of negative GDP since 1999! It is only when you convert the GDP to dollars that there is a fall, that is why I tell you village eediots that the exchange rate is why when you look at our economy in dollars, it appears worse than it is.
£10,000 a year will get you a luxury 4 bed house in the best area in Nigeria, it won’t get you a studio apartment in the worst part of London, . You will live like a King in Nigeria on £30,000 a year but ask those who have japad, they are living hand to mouth, paycheck to paycheckin debt on credit cards on a salary of £30k a year. That is why while dollar based GDP figures tell a story, they don’t tell the whole story. It is just a guide and a way to compare countries since there is no better way. There are not an accurate guide.
The true reflection of a country’s economy is the GDP figures in its local currency! You will never see the French, British or Germans talk about their GDP in dollars.

Lol....you are waiting for answers from Casualobserver? You go grow old where you dey. He is empty. Expect more insults and abuses instead. He is basically doing his job of spurring out nonsense ti dilute sensibke disucssions here. He gets paid from the USAID money too. tctrills: You spent the time insulting me and repeating your excuses. But I will not do the same. Oil represents less than 20% of our GDP so why did the GDP fall by much more. Also, the shortage caused by falling oil prices was replaced by crazy borrowing so why did that not reflect on the GDP? Answer these 2 questions and try not to deflect with insults. |

Lol....this dude called Casualobserver is a typical pointer to what is wrong with the Nigerian education system and society. Reading what he has written below shows he either 1. Did not go to school, contrary to what he wants all to believe or.... 2. Went to school but joined bad gang ang never attended classes and was futher advised to withdraw or he dropped out of school voluntarily or..... 3. Went to a school where they only collect school fees and promote them automatically without testing the students or.... 4. If he got WAEC/SSCE, someone wrote the exam for him or.... 5. He is just simply dumb. He keeps proving it to all that he does not know or have the faintest idea of how GDP is calculated. casualobserver: Like I said you are daft and evidence that an educated man in Nigeria only means a man was able to remember what he was taught in an exam. In nigeria education is no proof that a man is able to think critically.
You will know a man who can’t think because he can’t engage without mentioning tribe , party or religion.
Even though it is clear you are a village eeediot, I am responding as I do because I know for every village eediot that responds there are many who read without commenting and who I can share my knowledge with.
That said, I repeat.
The price of Oil is the major determinant in the economy of Nigeria and it is not in the hands of any president. There is no policy or magic any Nigerian president can conjure that will affect the price of crude. He is a bystander.
What you can judge a Nigerian president by is how did you manage the excess in times of excess and what did you do to cushion the impact in times of low prices. On both counts all presidents 1999-2023 performed badly. That the economy seemed to be ok 1999-2015 hid the mismanagement of the regimes, NOI warned us she even said despite the high oil we were already borrowing to pay salaries. That subsidies were maintained and heavy borrowings and money printing was sustained 2015-2023 hid the mismanagement of that regime, again the finance minister at the time warned us that subsidy had to go and we were borrowing to pay salaries. In both cases we have been living a lie and had been living on borrowed time
1999-2015 because they did not invest the excess for a rainy day either via infrastructure or reserves or the 2015-2023 regime because they carried on like we had money we didn’t have, refused to remove subsidy, continued to use the scarce forex to import petrol, and most importantly supervised over a fall in output from 2m barrels to 1m.
As far as you are concerned my interaction with you is now over. Have a good day! |

Lol...guy, you are too wicked. Why are you exposing that brother so much. Now everyone knows he is an illiterate. tctrills: Again you can only insult because you are ignorant. Your gov gives you excuses and you are not intelligent enough to understand that it's all a bunch of garbage. If we ask you to explain academically how removal of subsidy negatively affects gdp you will be silent. But you are ready to take the APC excuse without questions. Use your education. Your good parents sent you to school for a reason. |

Lol....go back to school bro or better still ask your little cousin in JS1 doing elementary economics to enlighten you before you come online to disgrace your family. You dont have the faintest idea of how GDPs are calculated. casualobserver: You are daft! Oil price during Buhari’s regime was always lower than what he met. Growth is a relative concept! Oil during Buhari’s period was always lower than Jonathan so for a country dependent on oil for forex and for an economy that is dollar based GDP was always going to be lower. I am not saying Buhari manages the economy well, but compared to OBJ and GEJ he did more with the little he had than OBJ-GEJ did with the much they had. You can point to roads, rail etc that Buhari did.
The point is NIgerias GDP is largely dependent on the inflow of forex from OIL. Forex inflow determined exchange rate, exchange rate determines dollar calculation of our GDP. At no point in Buhari’s regime was the OIl price 80% of the level under GEJ.
Below is the oil price for the period
There is a difference between oil price spiking to $100 for a week and Oil being steadily at above $100 for years |
