Nigeria is totally tired of Nigerians

There was no barracks at Ngwa High School when Obasanjo came to Aba as president.

In fact, there was no barracks in the whole of Abia State when Obasanjo was the president.

Additionally, Aba Women riot of 1929 wasn't just done by only the women in Aba. Aba district, during the colonial period stretched beyond the present Aba. Some parts of Rivers and Akwa Ibom States fell under the geographical boundaries of the then Aba.

Yes Aba is the unfortunate headquarters of IPOB but Aba ESN can't stand any onslaught from Nigerian Army for long. Aba grows war weary quickly and that's why we tend to move on quickly from any riot.


Aba doesn't have the endurance to sustain any uprising for long unlike some other places. They start and burn everything burnable within the first 2 days and then normalcy returns by the next two days. So in four days, normalcy must have returned to Aba.

I've lived all my life in Aba. This is what I've observed without attaching much sentiments to my analysis.

I just discussed this with someone yesterday.

The prospect of admitting new students this year looks bleak.

Imagine many schools are still running first semester, 2019/2020 session. So we can say they will still be in 2019/2020 session by May 2021 if the session is allowed to run its course.

Now Post UTME screening for incoming Year one students is being planned. We are going to have JAMB candidates this year. While those that started Year one in 2019 are still in 100 level.

However, I see this in one positive way. Let our universities develop 2 academic years in a single year as it is done in some countries.

We can have Hamarttan and Rainy sessions (as we have Winter and Summer sessions in some countries, using our climatic conditions here as opposed to what they have over there). I think polytechnics run such packages as morning and evening students.

Remove some of the courses we do here in Nigeria. I don't see what we gain by studying over 8 courses in a single semester. We can streamline our programs and get more effective classes without packing courses for students.

With enough needed reforms, we can comfortably accommodate two sets of year One students in a single year.

Let's see if he can replicate what the customs comptroller general has been able to do in customs service.

Similar pattern if appointment were someone outside the service was brought in to lead the agency.
