NO MORE DRYNESS

“...when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;”
(1 Samuel 30: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture tells of how the Amalekites invaded Ziklag through the south, and wrecked havoc. The south of Ziklag was a dry area. So the enemies of David invaded his abode through the place of dryness. Dryness was the entry point of the enemy against David.

Friend, God says, beware of dryness. Spiritual dryness is an entry point for the enemy against you; spiritual dryness is a platform for the enemy to burn your destiny down to ashes; prayerlessness makes it easy for the devil to mess up your destiny; a disconnection from God’s word helps the enemy to disconnect you from your possessions in Christ. Your spiritual dryness makes you an easy prey in the hands of the enemy.

When dryness opened the door to the enemy, the future of David (children) went into captivity. Spiritual dryness doesn’t only at endangering your present; it also endangers your future. When you sleep spiritually, you are giving the enemy freedom to mess up your future and potentials.

If there was no dry area for the Amalekites to make their entry into Ziklag, maybe there wouldn’t have been an invasion. There are battles you will avoid as a Christian if you are truly alive in the Spirit. There are losses, setbacks, disappointments, pains, etc that may never come your way once you shut the door on spiritual dryness.

Don’t be spiritually dry and turn around to blame the devil for attacking you. Take your victory in your hands; say no to spiritual dryness.

Romans 13 vs. 11 says: “...knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

Prayer :Lord, wake me up from every spiritual slumber, in Jesus’ name!Amen

REASSERT YOURSELF

“25. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.”
(John 4: 25-26)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

While speaking with Jesus, the woman of Samaria said that Christ would come, and speak of all things. She seemed not to recognize that she was speaking to the Christ she was expecting. She inferred that Jesus was not Christ; she seemed not to recognize who Jesus truly was.

Jesus was not apologetic about who He was. He reminded the woman of Samaria that He was the Christ. When His personality was not clear to the woman of Samaria, He made no mistakes about giving a clear reminder. When faced with someone who was confused about who He was, Jesus reasserted Himself.

Friend, when people and circumstances question your personality, re-assert yourself and remind them of who you are. Remind the enemy that you are a chosen generation; remind yourself and those who are in doubt about who you are, that you are fearfully and wonderfully made; remind yourself that you are a success not a failure; remind yourself that you are a victor and not a victim. Remind yourself and people around you of whom God says you are.

There is no wisdom or humility in accepting the verdict of men concerning you when such verdict reduces you below who you are. Men may willfully refuse to acknowledge who you are and who God has made you; God says, don't accept their wrong definition of you.

Don’t allow men to fill your mind with any definition of you that doesn’t represent you. You are not what they say you are; you are who God says you are. Say who you are without apologies.

Psalm 49 vs. 20 says: “Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.”

Prayer : Lord, I choose to reassert myself; I am who You say I am, in Jesus’ name!Amen

WHEN REALITY BECKONS

“15. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. 16. Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband...”
(John 4: 15-16)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus had already promised that He could give living water that was superior to the physical water at the well. The reality also was that He had nothing physical with which to draw water. The woman of Samaria challenged Jesus to do what He said He would do.

When she made her demand, Jesus asked her to go and call her husband. Jesus had nothing physical with which to draw water, and He entered into divine revelation to ask a question that silenced the Samaritan woman. Jesus faced a reality check, there was a challenge for Him to do what He said He could do, and He delved into divine revelation.

There are times when our confessions and realities are miles apart. Sometimes, after believing God for the impossible, the enemy reminds us of impossibilities that can't be wished away. Sometimes, our faith seems like a fantasy that may never become a reality.

Friend, when reality beckons, switch into the realm of divine revelation. When circumstances make it seem like your faith and belief will fetch you nothing, and when your faith is miles apart from your reality, ask God to open your spiritual eyes to see what others haven't seen. Ask God for a divine revelation that will shut up the naysayers.

Jesus dismantled a reality that was against Him through a divine revelation. Ask God for a divine revelation that will silence every reality that is against you.

Isaiah 50 vs. 7 says: “For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.”

Prayer : Lord, when I’m faced with uncomfortable realities, grant me divine revelations that will bail me out, in Jesus’ name!Amen

SPIRITUAL SOLUTIONS

“13. Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14. But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst …”
(John 4: 13-14)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus announced that anyone who drinks water from the well will thirst again. Thirst is a physical urge/challenge; water is the physical solution to thirst. So Jesus affirmed the futility of solving a physical problem with a physical solution. Jesus proffered spiritual solutions for physical problems.

Friend, if you apply physical solutions to your physical problems, the problems may remain or reoccur. If your response to health challenges is purely physical, you might end up in the cycle of challenges; if your go completely physical whilst dealing with marital, financial, academic, career, business, etc challenges, there is a tendency for repeat challenges.

Instead of fighting physical battles with purely physical strategies, try the spiritual option. Deal with physical challenges through prayer and God’s word. Instead of relying only on drugs, rely on God for healing.

Instead of counting only on advice, go for divine revelations. Use spiritual warfare to deal with physical roadblocks. Instead of adopting a physical approach in dealing with life’s issues, try the spiritual option and the results will amaze you.

Apart from saying that whosoever drinks water from the well will thirst again, Jesus said that whosoever drinks the living waters won't thirst again. Physical solutions to physical challenges won't stop challenges from returning; but spiritual solutions will work wonders.

Any challenge that remained after you tried a physical solution is only making a call for a divine solution.

Prayer : Lord, grant me spiritual solutions for my physical challenges, in Jesus’ name!Amen

REACH YOUR GENERATION

“Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:”
(John 4: 13)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

After Jesus’ encounter with the woman of Samaria, the entire city of Samaria believed in Him. Their encounter with Jesus led to their of salvation. It began with one woman who encountered Jesus, but in a matter of time, the entire city turned to Jesus. One person’s encounter was a platform for a citywide impact.

Friend, hear this: your encounter with Jesus is a platform for multitudes to come to Jesus. Your relationship with God is God’s platform to reach the unreached people around you. If God can have a robust and deep encounter with you, be sure that a community around you is about to turn over to Jesus. Whatever encounter you have with Jesus has a potential of turning multitudes to Jesus.

Jesus didn't go after everyone in Samaria; He reached one woman, and the woman invited the multitude to come to Jesus. Jesus will not physically speak to everyone, and He is counting on you to speak for Him. He saved you so that you can partner with Him to ensure that multitudes are saved.

If all that your relationship with God means to you is what you can get from God, you're living below your potentials, and you're missing the point of why Jesus died and rose again. There is a community around you that needs to be reached; God is counting on you to be like that woman of Samaria whose testimony can turn an entire city around.

Remember, it all began with an encounter, and that encounter brought results for the Master. Look inwards today: what results have your encounters with God brought to God? What results have accrued to God after all you have heard Him say or do?

Prayer : Lord, may my encounter with You win multitudes for You, in Jesus’ name!Amen

NOT BY HISTORY

“9. Then saith the woman... the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10. Jesus answered... If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.”
(John 4: 9-10)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

While Jesus spoke with the woman of Samaria, she reminded Him that Jews had no dealings with Samaritans. Jews and Samaritans had a history of not doing things together in bible times. They shared a negative history that was about to hinder Jesus’ impact on the woman of Samaria.

When history was thrown up, Jesus spoke about living waters. History was about to hinder Jesus, and He conquered it by speaking of what God was about to do. That history was in the past; the living waters were in the future. So Jesus dealt with history by speaking of the future.

Friend, when a negative history wants to stop you, remind the devil of what God is about to do. Remind every negative history against you that your case is different; when history forms a roadblock, remind it that Jesus’ promise concerning your life is guaranteed. Remind the enemy that whatever didn’t work in the past won't stop what is about to work in your future. Defeat every negative history by confessing God's word about your future.

Jesus spoke about living waters, and the woman of Samaria spoke no more about the history of Jews and Samaritans. History bowed to the promise of the future. God's promise concerning your future will conquer every negative history that is standing before you. What God has said is more potent than what men are saying.

Focus on what God has said concerning your future and forget about any negative history that says it is impossible. If God be for you, no negative history shall prevail against you.

Prayer : Lord, no negative history shall prevail over me or my future, in Jesus’ name!@Amen

SERVE A DIVINE PURPOSE

“There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.”
(John 4: 7)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus demanded water from the woman of Samaria. Jesus had nothing with which to draw water; the woman of Samaria had something with which to draw water. She was in a position where she could provide what Jesus needed. She had a physical resource, and Jesus demanded that she use it to fulfill a divine purpose.

Friend, God says, use your resources to serve a divine purpose. Use your position in life to advance the course of God’s kingdom. Use your career to make Jesus proud. Use your business to fulfill a divine purpose that will make Jesus glad. Use your skills to do something for the Lord. Use what you have in your hands to fulfill what is in the heart of the Lord.

Jesus had options if He wanted water; He only gave the woman of Samaria a chance to give water to God. When God wants you to do something for Him, it’s not because He doesn’t have options; it’s because He wants to use your effort and sacrifice to bless you. If your finances are called into action in the house of God, it’s a platform for your increase.

If the woman of Samaria refused to grant Jesus’ request, Jesus had nothing to lose, but it was the woman of Samaria who would lose a chance for a divine encounter. If you fail to use your physical platform to serve a divine purpose, take note, God has nothing to lose, but you would eventually be the biggest loser.

Use what you have to serve God; don’t walk away when God makes a demand on what you have; use you physical platform to fulfill a divine purpose.

Proverbs 11 vs. 25 says: “The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.”

Prayer : Lord, my physical platform must serve a divine purpose, in Jesus’ name!Amen

MAKE A DEMAND

“There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.” (John 4: 7)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus told the woman of Samaria to give Him water to drink. Jews and Samaritans had no dealings with each other. Jesus was a Jew while the woman was of Samaria, and it was probably expected that there would be nothing between them, but Jesus still asked the woman for water.

Despite the circumstance that should make Jesus refrain from asking for water from that woman, He demanded for water from her. The coast was not clear, but He made a demand. There was an impediment that should stop Him from getting water from that woman, but He demanded for water. He made a demand when He saw a road block.

Friend, when you encounter road blocks in the journey of life, make a demand. Speak to that result you want to see in your life; give a command concerning the progress you wish to see in your life; speak a word concerning that door that is yet to be opened unto you; knock on the doors of heaven and make a demand concerning the miracles that are yet to manifest. For everything you want to see, make demands in prayers.

When you make demands through your communion with God, you are simply asking God to bring the full weight of His divinity to bear on your issue. When you make demands in the place of prayer, you are simply unlocking earthly doors with heavenly keys. When you speak a word concerning what you want to see, you are simply sending your words on an errand to come back with results.

The coast was not clear when Jesus made a demand, but after His demand, a line of communication was opened against all odds. He made a demand that cleared the coast. Make demands under God, the coast will be clear and you will make progress.

Prayer : Lord, I choose to make demands; may my demands break my road blocks, in Jesus’ name!Amen

THEIR ERROR, YOUR GAIN

“There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.”
(John 4: 7)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

The woman of Samaria was notorious for her immoral lifestyle. During her conversation with Jesus, Jesus revealed that she has had five husbands, and was currently living with a man she was not married to. The Samaritan woman was living in error; her lifestyle had no comeliness to be admired.

When she eventually encountered Jesus, she gathered the entire city with ease. Her notoriety was an asset that made it easy for Jesus to meet the multitude He could not ordinarily invite on His own. What she did wrong became Jesus’ platform for impact. What she did wrong connected Jesus to the result He desired.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: the mistakes of others will make room for you to hit your target with ease. What others do wrong will make your good deeds more outstanding and attractive. The incompetence of others will make men come for you because of your competence; the poor work ethics of others will make men to opt for you above others; as men mess up their businesses and careers, you will be distinguished.

God will cause the wrong doing of others to work in your favour; their errors will be your asset; their imperfection will work for your own perfection; their poor performance will make your own good performance more obvious; the mediocrity that sinks others will make your own excellence more outstanding.

Don’t feel too bad when people around you are not quite doing as well as they should. Their mistakes will be a platform for your miracle. What they are doing wrong will be an ingredient that will make your results more outstanding.

Job 22: 29 says: "When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up..."

Prayer :Lord, the wrongdoing of others will help to distinguish me more and more, in Jesus’ name!Amen

THE RIGHT TARGET

“There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.” (John 4: 7)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture introduces a Samaritan woman who later had an encounter with Jesus. The woman of Samaria later invited the entire city to come and hear Jesus. Jesus met her and also met the entire city through her. Meeting her made Jesus’ assignment easier. She was the right target that made Jesus gain results with ease.

Friend, when you hit the right target, your results will come with ease. There are opportunities that will give you results faster than others; there are people you would meet and they will make your journey to greatness easier and sweatless; there are people you would meet and they would connect you easily to what you need to achieve; there are targets you hit and you will be distinguished with amazing results.

Ask God to lead you to that right target that will bring your results with ease; ask God to show you that man that will help you transit to the next level; ask God to divinely direct you to the opportunity that will take you to the next level; ask God to bring the destiny helper that will make your work easier and more productive; ask God to open your eyes to that right effort that will work wonders.

Jesus met only one Samaritan, and through her, the mission of meeting the entire city became easy. He hit the right target and that target became His link to more results. God says, as you hit the right target, your[sub][/sub] results will connect you to bigger results. You need only one strategic opportunity to become distinguished with distinctions. You need only one right move to rise higher.

Ask God to show you that one target that is your link to greatness. Ask God to lead you to make the right move that will bring your results with ease.

Prayer : Lord, lead me to the right target that will distinguish me, in Jesus’ name!Amen

IT'S COMING TO YOU

“6. Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well... 7. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water...”
(John 4: 6-7)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture speaks of when Jesus rested at Jacob’s well because He was weary. Jesus eventually met a Samaritan woman at the well. His encounter with that woman opened the door for the salvation of the entire city. Jesus’ meeting with the Samaritan woman was obviously by divine arrangement. The meeting brought amazing results.

Because Jesus was tired, He stopped at the well. Weakness stopped Him, but it didn’t stop the woman from coming to Him. Jesus’ weakness didn't stop the amazing result that eventually came His way. What stopped Jesus didn't also stop what was coming to Him. The weakness that stopped Jesus’ journey didn't stop what was coming to Him.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: whatever stopped you cannot stop what is coming to you. The weakness and disadvantage that stopped you will not stop what is coming to you. You may think your location, family background, qualifications, etc is a limitation, but God says, it may stop you, but it won’t stop what is coming to you. You may be barred from certain opportunities, but it will still come to you. You were stopped so that it/they can come to you.

Whatever wants to stop you- policies, people, haters, rivals, economy, etc- will not stop what God packaged for you from coming to you. When your strength fails, God will cause your package to be delivered by grace. Whatever looks like a stop in your movement in destiny is a time out that won't change anything.

Focus on God and don’t rule yourself out of success when you are weak or disadvantaged. When God is involved, He will command your package to come to you.

Prayer : Lord, whether I’m weak or strong, cause my package to come to me, in Jesus’ name!Amen

STOP AT THE WELL

“Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.”
(John 4: 6)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In the course of Jesus’ journey to Galilee, He was wearied by His journey and He went and sat on Jacob’s well. Jesus was tired and He found succor in a well. The well seemed to soothe Jesus’ weariness. Whatever impact Jesus’ journey had on Him seemed to find solution when He sat at the well.

Friend, regardless of what life throws at you, always stop at the well. When the battles and challenges of life weaken and batter you, stop at the well. When unanswered prayers want to discourage you, stop at the well. When you are knocked out by the conspiracies of men, look for the ‘well’ and stop there.

A well is a water source; in Ephesians 5 vs. 26, water is compared to God’s word. When life wearies and knocks you out, turn to God’s word and it will give you hope. When men turn against you, turn to God’s word and it will give you an escape route. When problems seem unending, embrace God’s word and it will help you end the trouble; when faced with battles you can’t fight by yourself, turn to God’s word and in it, you will find victory over the enemy.

When you peep into God’s word, you will see light at the end of the tunnel, you will see that all hope is not lost, you will discover that God being on your side is more than everyone against you, you will see that your troubles have an end, you will see that your limitations can't stop you, and you'll see that whatever can weary you isn't strong enough to stop you.

Whatever happens, never forget to stop at the well. Whatever you face, never forget what God’s word says concerning you. When you have no other place to stop, stop at the well.

Prayer : Lord, I choose to turn to Your word when I am wearied by life’s journey, in Jesus’ name!Amen

WALK IN NEWNESS

“6. Now Jacob's well was there... 7. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.”
(John 4: 6-7)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

According to Biblical history, Jacob’s well was supplied from an underground spring. Other wells may have had stagnant water, but Jacob’s well had a supply of flowing water. Because the water from Jacob’s well was fresh, it was easy for people to drink from it from generation to generation. The newness of the water from Jacob’s well made it relevant from generation to generation.

Friend, when the ‘waters’ of your life are stagnant, people will have no need to drink from you. When your life and work lack creativity, people may not have any need for you. When your business is bereft of newness and new strategies, people will get used to how you do things and just maybe, your client base will gradually thin down with time; when your career lacks newness, you just might become irrelevant.

The key to lasting relevance is newness and freshness. Face each new day with new thinking; add a dose of fresh ideas and fresh efforts to your endeavour; bring in new innovations to every area of your life; make your work new and attractive each day; add new knowledge to whatever old knowledge you have; strive to remain new as you grow older.

People will get bored with you if all they see today and tomorrow is same as what they saw in you yesterday. A life bereft of improvement and newness is on a highway to stagnation and irrelevance. If you have nothing new to offer, people will move on to those who have something new to offer.

Ask God to load you with newness, and cause you to be a better version of yourself each new day. Seek to remain new in every area of your life.

Prayer : Lord, in every area of my life, grant me newness and freshness; I won’t be stagnant, in Jesus’ name!Amen
