BEFORE YOU SLEEP: Don't be afraid to become a STUDENT again. God always assigns experienced people to walk us through confusion, difficulty and new terrain. Let them help you. Goodnight. |
BE DIFFERENT “...a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David...” (Matthew 15: 22) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. When the woman of Tyre and Sidon met Jesus, she called Him “Lord, thou son of David”. She lived in a pagan, gentile territory, but she had a deep revelation about Jesus. Her location didn't limit her knowledge of God. Her location didn't feed her. There was a godless environment around her, but she believed in and connected to a God higher than her location. Friend, when you allow your location to feed you, you will be like your location, but when you allow God to feed you, you will be higher than your location. If you allow God to pour His word into you, you might still be in a godless environment, yet your life will speak of God’s mercies and intervention. When you connect to God’s word despite what happens around you, your Exceeding Expansion will continue against all odds. That woman could have been excused if all she knew was what people in her location knew; but she went further by knowing the Lord. She knew what her location didn't know. Don’t allow your location to limit your knowledge; don’t be limited by limitations in your location. Know what people around you don’t know; know God more than the people around you; be better than people around you; be better than your location; if people in your location are ungodly, be godly; if they have no hope/faith, hold fast to your own hope/faith. Knowing what her location did not know connected the woman to a result her location could not offer. Break away from the confines of your location, and you shall have what your location can't offer. Romans 12 vs. 2 says: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind...” Prayer : Lord, my location will not feed me; I am fed by Your word, in Jesus’ name! Amen |
BEFORE YOU SLEEP: Opinions aren't facts. They are personal perspectives. Don't let the opinions of small minded, judgemental people become your life's point of reference. If you allow your life to be governed by people's opinion of you, you will be NO ONE going NOWHERE to do NOTHING. Goodnight. |
A CHANNEL OF GRACE “And, behold, a woman of Canaan... cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.” (Matthew 15: 2) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. When the woman of Tyre and Sidon met Jesus, she didn't come because of her own problem; she came because of her daughter’s problem. Her daughter was tormented by a demon. Her daughter was under attack; her daughter was a victim of the enemy; her daughter needed divine intervention. This woman did not ask Jesus to have mercy on her daughter. She said, “Have mercy on me”. She sought for mercy that would flow to her daughter who was afflicted; she sought to receive and convey the mercies of Jesus to her daughter; she sought to be the channel through which someone connected to her will receive from God. Friend, God says, go beyond what you can receive for yourself and seek what you can receive for people connected to you. Be the channel through which God's grace will be poured into your home. Be the conduit through which God's grace and divine intervention will reach those connected to you. Instead of being a tank, be a channel. Children are the future generation. So, that woman sought for mercy for her future generation. Beyond seeking the grace of God that you will enjoy, seek the divine intervention, mercy and grace of God that your future generations can enjoy. Attract generational blessings to generations coming after you. It began with an encounter with Jesus, and that encounter was the platform for that woman to become a conduit of God’s grace and mercy in her family and generation. Seek a fresh encounter with God everyday, and you will remain a channel of grace. 1 Peter 4: 10 says: “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” Prayer : Lord, make me a channel of Your grace, in Jesus’ name! Amen |

XBEFORE YOU SLEEP : LIFE : 1. Remember you must live before you die . You can't wait for permission to live. They will hate, talk down on you, disapprove of you but hey, what does it matter - LIVE HAPPILY, they are not your God. 2. Don't just live. Live well. Live Right. Leave a legacy you can be proud of. 3. Why wait till tomorrow to start giving life to your dreams. Do it now. Life becomes really interesting when you invest yourself in your passion. 4. There is certainly Life after death. How are you preparing for it? 5. Why wait till someone dies to tell them what they mean to you. Pick up your phone, call or send them messages and let them know what they mean to you. 6. Is there someone you offended ? Have you perfected the art and act of taking people for granted? You imagine you don't need them again ? Be Careful and wise- Life happens: Life might bring you together someday and you just might need that person again. FOLLOW PEACE WITH ALL MEN! Goodnight. |
NOT BY CROWD “And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David...” (Matthew 15: 22) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. In bible times, Jesus was often followed by a multitude; but when He went to Tyre and Sidon, there was no multitude, yet the woman recognized Him. There was no crowd to suggest that it was Jesus, yet that woman recognized Him. Sometimes, we are more conscious of Jesus when there is a crowd. Sometimes, we are more conscious of pleasing the Lord when people are watching, failing to do same when no one is watching. Sometimes, who we are when people are watching is not who we are when no one is watching. Sometimes, we find zeal and passion for God and for prayer when people are watching, and lose same when no one is watching. Friend, even when there is no crowd, recognize and honour Jesus. Live your life in recognition of Jesus even if no one recognizes and honours Him around you. Live for God even if there is no crowd to recognize His presence in your life. Be prayerful even if no one is watching; be committed to Jesus even if no one notices your commitment/ dedication. The presence of Jesus in your life is not about the crowd. It’s about Him. It’s not about who is watching; it’s about who He is in your life. If you are driven by the crowd, you will miss the point of Jesus’ presence and what He can do for you and in you when no one is around. If you measure the presence of Jesus according to the crowd, you are missing the mark. Look beyond the crowd and see Jesus wherever you are. Even if no one is watching you, know that Jesus is watching. Even if no one recognizes Jesus around you, know that He is there. Prayer : Lord, even when there is no crowd, I choose to see and honour You, in Jesus’ name! Amen |
BEFORE YOU SLEEP: Sometimes, there's a delayed reaction when the need arises to forgive others : 1. You're blindsided by the infraction. 2. It's not not that you don't want to forgive, it's just that you dont know how to feel about what they did. 3. It seems easier to just ignore the whole thing and break all contact. 4. You are processing how their decision has changed your future 5. You feel like you need a moment...NO, a few weeks ( months or years) to talk to GOD about it. 6. You have no earthly idea what to say to them or how to say it without going off. 7. The whole thing makes you lose confidence in people. When this is the case, begin the forgiveness process with these words,"JESUS, THANK YOU FOR FORGIVING ME OVER AND OVER AGAIN. IF YOU DID IT FOR ME, I CAN DO IT FOR OTHERS. I RECEIVE THE GRACE IN JESUS NAME" Goodnight. |
SHORTENED JOURNEY “And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.” (Matthew 15: 22) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. Our Focal Scripture speaks of when Jesus moved to the coast of Tyre and Sidon, and met a woman whose daughter was tormented by a demon. In Bible times, when people needed Jesus’ intervention, they often went to where He was, or sent emissaries; but this woman literally met Jesus at her doorstep. Who she was looking for came looking for her. Her journey to her solution was shortened. Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: your journey will be shortened. Your race to the top will be shortened. Grace will deliver your expected results to you at your doorsteps. The things you should be chasing after will miraculously start chasing after you. The people you need to meet for help will suddenly come looking for you. The results you need to work for will come to you without much effort. Grace will shorten your journey. By reason of God’s grace, your journey to the completion of your projects has been shortened. The journey to your accomplishments, miracles, etc has been shortened. The things that should take time will no longer take time. It may have taken time for others but it won’t take time in your own case. Others may have worked for it but it's coming to you. Jesus didn't come to Tyre and Sidon with pomp and pageantry. The things that are coming to you may not come with noise, others may not know that it is coming to you, but God says, it is coming and your journey to it has been shortened. Look beyond your efforts and ask God to open your eyes to see what is coming to you. Ask God to bring you what you are looking for. Ask God to shorten your journey to your goals and achievements. Prayer :Lord, let Your grace shorten my journey, in Jesus’ name! Amen |

BE LIKE JESUS “21. Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. 22. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts...” (Matthew 15: 21-22) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. Before Jesus had an encounter with the woman in our Focal Scripture, He left the multitude that was with Him; the woman also left the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. Tyre and Sidon was a pagan territory; it was synonymous with ungodliness; so that woman departed from ungodliness before she met Jesus. She left the crowd; her action was similar to Jesus’ action. After she left her multitude, the woman encountered Jesus. She did something similar to what Jesus did, and Jesus seemed to draw closer to her for that reason. What was found in Jesus (departure from crowd/multitude) was found in her, she had a common denominator with Jesus, and a divine action and intervention was inevitable. Friend, when Jesus can find in you what He has in Him, a divine encounter is inevitable. God is a holy/faithful God, and when He finds holiness/faithfulness in you, your divine encounter and divine intervention is a done deal. When God finds consecration, dedication, consistency, commitment, etc in you, it’s only a matter of time before He visits you as He has promised. Increase your commonality with Jesus. Do what Jesus would do; forgive as Jesus forgave; pray as Jesus prayed; be sacrificial like Jesus; show love, mercy, kindness, humility, compassion, patience, temperance, contentment, etc like Jesus did; let the life of Christ be in you, and let His word dwell richly in you, and He will reach out to you mightily. If it is not in Jesus, then it shouldn’t be in you. Let Jesus find Himself in you and your divine intervention will be inevitable. Philippians 2: 5 says: “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” Prayer :Lord, let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me, in Jesus’ name!Amen |
BEFORE YOU SLEEP: Giants can crumble like a pack of cards...Goliath fell for David's stone. Big Issues can fall for you... Ask David! The strength of your giant might just be in the negative words it speaks...If you can ignore the negative words going on on your head, you will soar.... Ask David! Dont keep quiet when you should say something... Ask David! Don't ever forget your past testimonies; If God did it before, He will do it again...Ask David! Championship isn't about age; its about Grace...Ask David! You will soon accomplish what your Predecessors and contemporaries all put together cannot achieve...Ask David! What you have in your hand right now can bring down a Giant; dont disregard it...Ask David! Those ahead of you might despise, disregard and dishonour you; but hey, dont give up or give in, there is something you carry...Ask David! There is a CAUSE why you are where you are right now, make the most of it...Ask David! Your Victory in life isn't just for you but for the destinies that are tied to you as well...Ask David! Dont be in a hurry to fight with what you arent used to; the armour of Saul might be sophisticated but it's got an impediment potential. Keep it simple...Ask David! The reason for that Giant (obstacle) in front of you is to make your story sweeter...Ask David! Dont expect everyone to celebrate your victory; The Sauls of this life may consider you a major threat...Ask David! Most times, close friends and family members may not even believe in your dreams...Ask David! David collected five stones and eventually used one; Keep gathering values, you may never know the one that will bring down a giant...Ask David! Goodnight. |

GET PERSONAL “Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.” (Matthew 15: 21) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. In our Focal Scripture, Jesus departed from a multitude and went to Tyre and Sidon, where He met a woman whose daughter was tormented by demons. Jesus often performed miracles in the midst of the crowd, but this woman didn't get hers in the midst of the crowd. She got it in a personal encounter with Jesus. Friend, get personal in your walk with Jesus. Know Jesus for yourself. Spend time personally in communion with God. Go beyond the collective experience you have received from God and seek a more personal experience. Go beyond what others have told you about God and ask God for more personal encounters that will turn your life around. Go beyond what God told everyone and ask God to speak to you personally. There is a new depth and dimension of God that you may never experience until you personalize your walk with Him. There are revelations that will only come to you in the course of a deeper walk with God. There are new levels, insights, creative and uncommon miracles, etc that will come to you when you draw near unto God on your own. Seek God on your own; fast and pray on your own, and stop waiting for when a general, collective fast will be proclaimed. Go beyond collective gatherings and seek God personally in your private moments with Him. Deepen your personal commitment to Jesus. Ask God to increase your hunger and thirst for Him. Chase after God even if people around you are not chasing after Him. Ask God for more personal encounters. Remember, the woman from Tyre and Sidon didn't locate Jesus in the crowd; she found Him on her own. The things you seek from God may not come to you from a collective anointing. There is a new depth you will find when you get personal with Jesus. Prayer : Lord, draw me close to You, in Jesus’ name! Amen |
EXCEEDING EXPANSION “And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drave before those other cattle, and said, This is David's spoil.” (1 Samuel 30: 20) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams Of Joy Devotional today. When David enquired of the Lord concerning the Amalekites who took his wives, children and possessions, he only asked God if he should pursue and overtake them. God’s response to David was to pursue, overtake and recover all. David was trying to recover what he lost. He was on a journey of recovery. After the battle, David took spoils from the Amalekites. He not only recovered what he had; he came back with more than what he lost. Enemies came against him, and it became a platform for him to possess what he never had. The attack of enemies against David became a platform for Exceeding Expansion. Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: every attack of the enemy shall become a platform for your Exceeding Expansion. For every conspiracy against you, God will cause you to have more than you ever lost. For every meeting that is held against you, God will cause you to gain new grounds. For every attempt that men have made to pull you down, God will cause you to increase. David’s increase came at the expense of those who came against him; he increased at the expense of his enemies. God says, you will increase at the expense of your enemies. When they fight you, just keep calm, they will soon lose their possessions and positions to you. When the battles against you become fierce, just know that another Exceeding Expansion is about to happen. David was backed up with God’s word as he chased after the Amalekites, and he ended up richer than he was before the attack. Hold on to God’s word, and for every battle against you, you will come out richer. Prayer : Lord, may every battle against me lead to my exceeding expansion, in Jesus’ name!Amen |
BEFORE YOU SLEEP : "But God knew what would happen, and his pre-arranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed...."(Acts 2 vs 23a) Sometimes, God's "pre-arranged plan" for your life cannot begin until : * Your heart has been broken * Your kindness has been abused * You've been stabbed in the back * Those you've been there for have abandoned you * Your Friends prove to be enemies * The Life you use to know has been obliterated. Relax, your life is about to begin on a higher level. It's only a RESET! Goodnight. |

ENEMIES WILL CRUMBLE “And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day...” (1 Samuel 30: 17) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. The Amalekites were enemies that came against David. Without provocation, they launched an attack against David and his men. They were enemies, they were God haters, their stock in trade was to work against God’s people, and David soon became a target of their wickedness. When God told David to chase after the Amalekites, David rose and slew them until a few of them ran for their lives. They rose against him, but through God, they were subdued under him. They came against him, but they crumbled under his strength. They were haters and they paid for their wickedness. Friend, God says, every hater that has arisen against you will pay for his/her wickedness. When enemies arise against you, God will cause them to be subdued under you. God will bring down those who have arisen against you; God will demote those who have conspired to rise against you; for every man that has come against you for no just cause, God will cause them to be repaid with the wickedness they planned for you. The Amalekites were already celebrating before David caught and slew them. They were celebrating victory when the tables turned and they ended in defeat. Your enemies may have already begun to celebrate their victory over you, but while they celebrate, God will turn the tables and they will end in defeat. Ask God to gird you with strength and make you stronger than those who have arisen against you. Ask God to subdue your haters and enemies under you. Psalm 18 vs. 39-40 says: “For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.” Prayer : Lord, subdue every hater that has arisen against me, in Jesus’ name!Amen |
BEFORE YOU SLEEP: If you are going to be a FRIEND, understand that TRUE FRIENDSHIP is demanding: * You may have to run in to save your friend when others are running out to save themselves * You may be called upon to carry an emotional load when you yourself are feeling a little overwhelmed. * You will need encouraging and negotiating skills to talk your friend off the ledges of life. * You must possess a balance of Honesty and Sympathy so that you never sugar-coat the truth but you always dip it in love. * You should be ride or die to the point that people are afraid to mention your friend's name in a negative light around you. * You must be aware that when two persons are siblings by choice(friends), they will at times get on each other's nerves, but that's okay because TRUE FRIENDSHIPS ARE NEVER FRAGILE! Goodnight. |

PRESS ON “But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint...” (1 Samuel 30: 10) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. When David set out to pursue after the Amalekites, he began the journey with six hundred men; but along the way, two hundred men opted out of the journey. Two hundred men gave up on an achievement they initially committed to. Two hundred men abandoned David. When the two hundred men gave up, David pressed on and pursued the Amalekites until he recovered all that they stole from him. He didn't stop because others stopped. He didn't abandon his mission because some of his supporters developed cold feet. He didn't stop because of people who could no longer support him; David pressed on. Friend, God says, when men abandon you, press on until you hit your target. When people who promised to assist you develop cold feet, don’t give up the fight; just press on. Press on even if the economy is no longer in your support; press on even if your financiers are no longer willing or able to finance you; push on even when you have less to run your race with. Just press on. David pressed on, and despite those who abandoned the journey, despite working with fewer human resources than he began with, he completed his journey and got the results he needed. God says, no matter who abandons your journey, you will hit your target and possess your possessions if you dare to press on. Hold on to God’s word and God will cause you to succeed and excel despite those who have abandoned or are planning to abandon you. If Jehovah is involved, even if the whole world walks out on you, it won’t stop your resounding results. Psalm 125 vs. 1 says: “They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.” Prayer : Lord, even if the whole world walks away from me, I shall still succeed, in Jesus’ name!Amen |

RUN WITH THE WORD “But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.” (1 Samuel 30: 10) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. When David and his men came to Brook Besor, two hundred of his men were so faint that they remained at the Brook. God already promised that they would recover all, but some men who should play a part in the recovery opted out. David’s pursuit suffered a setback. When the 200 men gave up, David proceeded with the 400 men and recovered everything they lost. Despite the discouragement, he went on with God's mandate to recover all. The situation became bad, but he pressed on. He didn’t run with the situation; he ran with the word. God says, run with the word. Run with God’s word concerning you; focus on God's promises on your life no matter what goes wrong; run with God’s word even when the men you are running with opt out of the race; hold on to God’s word even when the economy runs dry; focus on God’s word no matter the negativity around you. David pursued the Amalekites despite the two hundred men who gave up, and he recovered all. He focused on God’s word and promise, and he hit his target despite the unfavourable circumstance on his way. Focus on God’s word, and you will prevail despite the disappointments on your way. Focus on God’s word, and it will bring you victory against all odds. What is that word that God has spoken to you? What is the situation around you that wants to take your eyes off the word that God has spoken? If Jehovah is involved, no circumstance will prevail over God’s word. Hold on to God’s word, and it will cause every negative circumstance to be of no effect. Psalm 18 vs. 30 says: “As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried...” Prayer :Lord, I hold on to Your word; no circumstance will prevail over Your word, in Jesus’ name! Amen |
FEEL THE GOOD NEWS “So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.” (1 Samuel 30: 9) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. As David and his men pursued after the Amalekites, they came to the Brook Besor. Besor was on their way to the recovery of what they lost. Besor was a landmark they crossed as they went after their enemies. ‘Besor’ means ‘good news’. So David and his men encountered ‘good news’ in their journey. Their journey was blessed with good news. Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: your journey shall be blessed with good news. Your efforts and investments shall be blessed with good news. Your family shall receive good news. Your career, business, finances, marriage, etc shall witness good news that you did not plan for. God shall cause good news to erupt all around you. God will plant good news for you everywhere you go. After David and his men came to Besor, they recovered their wives, children and possessions. After the sign of good news, they got another level of good news. God says, you shall move from good news to good news. As you celebrate your current good news, God will cause more good news to come your way. The good news you see is a sign of more good news to come. You may not have seen the ultimate testimony you expect from God, but be grateful for the good news that already came your way. Celebrate the 'small' miracles as you await the big one. Celebrate the signs of good news that you see before the good news comes. Feel your good news before it manifests. When Jehovah is involved, you won’t just stop at having a sign of good news; you will witness substantial good news that will warm your heart and make you smile. Proverbs 15 vs. 30 says: “The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.” Prayer : Lord, I receive my good news, in Jesus’ name! Amen |
RECOVER ALL “And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” (1 Samuel 30: ![]() That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. When the Amalekites invaded Ziklag, they took David’s wives, children and possessions. They also took the wives, children and possessions of David’s men. Enemies took possession of David’s belongings. The things that belonged to David were in the hands of enemies. God commanded David to pursue the Amalekites, and he overtook them and recovered what they stole from him. He took back his possessions which were in the hands of the enemy; the destinies of his wives and children were in the hands of the enemy, and he rescued them. Friend, God says, you shall recover everything that is yours that is in the hands of the enemy. You shall recover every possession of yours that the enemy stole; you shall recover every position belonging to you that another man is occupying; you shall recover lost grounds in your health; you shall recover everything the enemy took away from your family, marriage, career, business, ministry, academics, finances, etc. David did not sit back and his possessions came back; he fought the enemies and took back his possessions. Prayer is a potent force that will help you recover everything the enemy has stolen from you. Some strong men may not be willing to release your possessions peacefully, but prayers will turn their hands and turn the tables. Don’t allow the enemy to hold on to your possessions; arise in prayers and buy back what you lost. No matter what you lost to the enemy, there shall be full recovery. Whatever God has given you to possess is yours to possess, nothing missing and nothing broken. Prayer : Lord, I recover everything the enemy stole from me; no enemy will possess my possession, in Jesus’ name!Amen |
