NOT BY CHARIOTS

“And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.”
(1 Kings 18: 46)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Elijah ran on foot and overtook Ahab on the way to Jezreel. Elijah was on foot, while Ahab rode in his chariot. In Bible times, chariots were often attached to horses; but whereas a horse would move fast on its own, it becomes slower when it is attached to a chariot. A chariot served the purpose of providing comfort for Ahab; it was his comfort zone, and it reduced his speed.

Friend, sometimes, a ‘chariot’ might limit your speed. Your comfort zone has a capacity to slow you down. If care is not taken, the things that God has given you to make your life comfortable might slow down the progress that God destined for you. You may have prayed to God for ‘chariots’, but just maybe He is yet to give you ‘chariots’ because He doesn’t want your pace to reduce.

God may not have allowed you to get all the comfort you desire, He may not have allowed your dream job or dream car to become your possession because He wants your prayer life, devotion, competence, work ethics, behaviour, attitudes, mindset, etc to remain upwardly positive. He may have withheld some comfort because of the progress and improvement He wants you to make.

Elijah had no chariot, he ran on foot, and he overtook Ahab who rode on a chariot. God says, despite the ‘chariots’ you don’t have, you will overtake those who are riding on their ‘chariots’. You may not have the comforts, connections, supports, etc that others have, but God says, you will do better than them.

Focus on God and forget the chariots you don’t have.

Psalm 20 vs. 7 says: “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”

Prayer : Lord, the comfort I lack will not limit me; I must hit my target, in Jesus’ name! Amen

IT'S WORKING

“...Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.”
(1 Kings 18: 44)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Elijah’s servant saw a little cloud out of the sea. Elijah prayed for the rain to fall, but after his prayers, all that came out was a little cloud. What showed up did not look like what Elijah prayed for. A heavy rain should naturally come with heavy cloud, but the servant saw a little cloud.

After the little cloud, the rain fell, and it came in abundance. After what looked too little to make a difference, there was a difference. The initial signs seemed insignificant, but the result was amazing and undeniable. That little cloud led to the heavy abundant rain. It was little, but it was all a part of the bigger picture.

Friend, you may have prayed for an ‘abundance of rain’, yet all you see is a ‘little cloud’; God says, your ‘little cloud’ will lead to abundance. The signs may be small, but the result will be amazing and outstanding. Your initial gains may be little, but bigger gains are on the way. Your ‘small’ job is a platform for bigger jobs you desire. The small profit of today is a harbinger for tomorrow's huge profit.

The little you see is a sign of bigger things to come. The little favours will lead to bigger favours; the small open doors will lead to bigger open doors; the small signs of improvement will lead to amazing results you can't explain or imagine.

Celebrate every little sign that God has shown you; celebrate every sign that suggests that your story is about to change. Something bigger is coming.

Job 8 vs. 7 says: “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.”

Prayer: Lord, every little sign of my progress will culminate in great progress, in Jesus’ name! Amen

HEAVEN IS SPEAKING

“And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.”
(1 Kings 18: 41)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Elijah declared that there is a sound of abundance of rain. The word ‘sound’ as used in that scripture comes from the Hebrew word ‘Kole Kole’, which means ‘a calling out loud’. So Elijah said there was a calling out loud for the abundance of rain. Elijah was yet to pray, so he was not the one calling for the abundance of rain.

God declared that rain was about to fall; and if Elijah heard a calling out loud that didn’t come from him or Ahab, the only person who was making the call was God. Heaven was calling out loud for the abundance of rain; heaven was making a demand for the fulfillment of what God already promised; heaven was literally speaking to make the rain happen.

Friend, for every word God has spoken concerning you, heaven is about to speak for you. Heaven is about to call for the fulfillment of unfulfilled prophecies on your life; heaven is calling for abundance in your finances; heaven is speaking for you in places where you may not ordinarily be able to speak for yourself; heaven is making a call for a physical manifestation that will warm your heart and make you smile.

God made the promise of rain in verse 1 of our Scripture Reading, but in our Focal Scripture, He was in a hurry to fulfill His promise. God is in a hurry to fulfill every word He has spoken concerning you; He is in a hurry to make mighty things happen in your life; He is in a hurry to give you testimonies that sound like lies.

When heaven speaks on your matter, the kings of this world will lose their sleep. When God speaks on your matter, everything will happen fast and at the same time.

Prayer : Lord, for every unfulfilled promise on my life, let heaven speak for me, in Jesus’ name! Amen

FACE YOUR KNEES

“...And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,” (1 Kings 18: 42)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

While Elijah prayed for the abundance of rain, he put his face between his knees. Elijah went to pray, he went to seek God’s face and God’s intervention, he went to pray for what God would do, and he didn’t face the cloud to see if the rain was coming; he put his face between his knees. His eyes were on God and on his expectations.

Sometimes, the devil doesn’t necessarily want you to stop praying, but he wants you to keep watching your realities and circumstances as you pray. He wants you to see that your expectations from God are still unfulfilled. He wants you to see that you are still on your knees, yet without results. He wants you to focus on what is happening around you.

Friend, God says, put your face between your knees. Put your face in the direction of your expectations from God; put your face in the direction of what you want God to do for you; put your face away from the unpleasant realities around you and face the endless possibilities that God is able to make happen. Face God and look away from men.

If you focus on the bad economy, poor leadership, failed promises, poor chances for success, difficult policies/protocols, etc, you will lose sight of what God can do for you, and you may even lose patience with God. If you stay on your knees, yet looking at your environment, you may even stop praying.

Pray on with your face between your knees, look unto God, focus on Jesus, believe in what God can do above what you see around you, and like Elijah, your expectations will be fulfilled.

Psalm 20: 7 says: “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”

Prayer : Lord, I choose to put my face in between my knees, in Jesus’ name! Amen

MAKE THINGS HAPPEN

“So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,”
(1 Kings 18: 42)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Whilst Ahab went to eat and drink in anticipation of the abundance of rain, Elijah went to pray for the abundance of rain. Ahab went to sit back until God’s word is made manifest, but Elijah went into prayer to facilitate the fulfillment of God’s word. Ahab sat down to watch things happen, but Elijah prayed for things to happen.

Friend, God says, make things happen. Make prayers that will cause God to turn things around. Bring forth ideas that will take your world by storm. Push God to intervene in your family, career, business, city, nation, etc. Let your presence make the difference in your team; let your competence bridge the gap between expectations and fulfillment of expectations.

It may be convenient to sit back and watch things happen, but it is more fulfilling, rewarding and prestigious to make things happen. Inactivity is a highway to irrelevance. You may not be the only one to benefit from whatever you can make happen, but God says, make things happen on behalf of others.

In the game of life, those who make things happen are players, while those who watch things happen are spectators. If you remain a spectator, you will only see the movie of life without being a principal actor. If you sit prayerlessly to watch things happen, even the devil will make things happen to your detriment.

Don’t be counted among docile spectators who sit back while others do the work, prayers, brainstorming, etc. Play your part to make things happen. You won’t be remembered for things you watched while they happened; you'll be remembered for what you made happen.

Prayer : Lord, give me grace to make things happen, in Jesus’ Name! Amen

THE PLACE OF TESTIMONY

“And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.”
(1 Kings 18: 40)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In Judges 5 vs. 21, Deborah sang a song about how the river Kishon swept away the enemies that came against Israel. She testified about how river Kishon worked for her good and worked against her enemies; she spoke of how she had a testimony out of Kishon. Kishon was a place where she received a testimony.

In our Focal Scripture, Elijah slew the prophets of Baal at Brook Kishon. He gained victory over his enemies in the same place where Deborah gained victory. He got a testimony at the same place where Deborah gained hers. Elijah was not a spectator at the place of testimony; he also got his own testimony.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you will not be a spectator at the place of testimony. As others testify, you too will testify; as others speak of their breakthroughs, you too shall have your own breakthroughs; as others speak of the open doors they have received from the Lord, you too will speak of your own open doors; as others make progress, you too will make progress; as others have reasons to speak of what God has done, you won’t be left out.

Deborah and Elijah did not live in the same dispensation; so Deborah got her own testimony at some point, while Elijah got his at another time. Don’t lose faith when it seems that people around you have received testimonies ahead of you; your own is coming, and as they testified, so shall you also testify.

Are there testimonies that people around you have received and you desperately desire to have same? God says, your own is coming; just like Elijah got his testimony at Brook Kishon, you will get yours.

Prayer : Lord, at the place of testimony, I shall not be left behind, in Jesus’ name! Amen

STRENGTHEN YOUR POSITIVES

“Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.”
(Matthew 15: 28)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Before the woman of Tyre and Sidon got her miracle, Jesus made mention of her great faith. This woman was a Gentile, she was from an ungodly nation, her environment was a pagan environment, even Jesus Himself classified her among the ‘dogs’, but in the end, the same Jesus acknowledged her great faith.

Between being called a dog and getting her miracle, there was great faith. Despite the negativity she was associated with, she had a positive attribute of faith. Despite what didn’t work, there was something in her that worked; the positive thing in her was the connection that brought her miracle.

Friend, God says, build your positives. Increase in your areas of strength; despite what is not working around you, make sure there is something in you that works; despite the negatives in your environment, grow the positives in you. Build up your skills, abilities, work ethics, discipline, commitment, dedication, prayer life, consecration, devotion, etc. Let your positives eclipse the negatives.

Your next level is a function of what is working in your life. What matters most is what is working. What matters most is not your excuses but your results; what matters most is not your setbacks but your comebacks; what matters most is not your misfortunes but the giant strides that eventually followed.

No matter what is not working, ensure that something is working. Even if only one thing in your life is working, it’s an open door for divine intervention. If there is something left, there is something God can bless.

Isaiah 35: 3 says: “Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.”

Prayer : Lord, help me to build up the positives in me, in Jesus’ name! Amen

UNDER THE TABLE

“And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.” (Matthew 15: 27)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus told the woman of Tyre and Sidon that the children’s bread would not be cast to dogs, she insisted that dogs can at least eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table. She put herself in the position of a dog under the table, and insisted on having what falls from the table. Being under the table was the pathway for a 'dog' to eat the crumbs.

We live in a dispensation where everyone wants to sit at the table but no one wants to go under the table; we prefer to be masters but not servants. We often wish to be in charge but not under anyone; we prefer to be bosses but not subordinates. Sometimes, we just can’t go under the table.

Friend, when you are not on the ‘table’, dare to stay under. Stay under someone who is a carrier of grace. Be humble enough to be a servant wherever you find yourself. When you don’t have the finances you need yet, be humble enough to seek and accept the assistance of those who have in abundance. When life does not give you the option of being at the top, make the most of being under.

The crumbs that fall from a table while a meal is on, come from the same meal that is eaten on the table. The crumbs might be small, but they are same as what you have on the table. If you are humble enough to stay around the table, God will cause you to have what those on the table are enjoying. If you dare to be a good servant, God will cause you to have what your masters have.

Like that woman of Tyre and Sidon, stay around the table, hang around the tables you desire to sit on, even if your only option is to be under. One day, what is on the table will come to you.

Prayer : Lord, give me the humility to be under the ‘table’ when I can’t be on the table, in Jesus’ name! Amen

EARLY MANIFESTATIONS

“But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.” (Matthew 15: 26)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus spoke of the impropriety of giving the children’s bread to dogs. By Jesus’ statement, the children referred to the Israelis, while dogs referred to Gentiles. Gentiles were not meant to be direct recipients of Jesus’ ministry (see Acts 1 vs. cool. It was not yet their turn to enjoy the miracles which the Jews had begun to enjoy.

The woman of Tyre and Sidon received a huge miracle at a time when Gentiles weren't receiving miracles. She got her miracle ahead of others. What others desired to experience began with her. She was considered ahead of others, and she was considered first among Gentiles. She got her portion ahead of others.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you will receive your portion ahead of others. You will get your divine package ahead of others. While others are still praying, you shall have your answers; while others are still expecting, your own expectations will become your reality. The great future that others hope for shall become your reality. The delayed expectations of others shall not be your portion. You shall be considered first, and you shall have your portion before others have theirs.

Her encounter with Jesus gave her access to an early package, ahead of the scheduled time for Gentiles to receive miracles. As you continually encounter the Lord, He will position you for early packages that will confuse and confound your contemporaries.

Look beyond the time frame for the expectation of others and expect your own expectations to be fulfilled ahead of time.

Psalm 90 vs. 14 sums it up: “O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.”

Prayer : Lord, my expectations shall be fulfilled earlier than others, in Jesus’ name! Amen

CONNECTED TO SOURCE

“But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.” (Matthew 15: 26)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When the woman of Tyre and Sidon besought Jesus on behalf of her daughter, Jesus declared that it is not right to take the children’s bread and give to dogs. In Jesus’ metaphor, the children referred to the house of Israel, while the dogs referred to Gentiles. In Acts 1 vs. 8, Jesus spoke of how the Gentiles would be reached by His disciples. The Gentiles were meant to be reached by men who were directly impacted upon by Jesus.

In the case of the woman of Tyre and Sidon, instead of getting her miracle through people who were ministered to by Jesus, she got her miracle from Jesus Himself. Instead of being a secondary recipient, she was a primary recipient. Instead of getting her miracle through a middle man, she got it from the Master. She got results directly from the source.

Friend, God says, you will enjoy the blessing of getting your desires directly from the source. God will connect you to the source of everything you need. God will connect you to the source of the information you need. He will connect you to the source of the jobs you need. He will connect you to the source of the finances you need. God will connect you to the source of the resources, favours, open doors, etc you need.

The woman of Tyre and Sidon knew the source of her expected miracle, and she enjoyed the miracle of getting connected to the source. Sometimes, we know the source but we are just not connected. God will connect you to every source that has your results.

God is the Source Himself, and when you are connected to the Chief Source, He will connect you to any human or physical source you need.

Prayer : Lord, I shall get my expectations from the source, in Jesus name.. Amen

BE A WORSHIPPER

“Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.”
(Matthew 15: 25)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When the woman of Tyre and Sidon first met Jesus, she came with a request on behalf of her daughter who was vexed with a devil. She came to the Lord with requests and nothing more, but Jesus didn’t respond to her requests. She placed her request ahead of everything else, and she didn't get any response.

Eventually, she came and worshipped Jesus, after which He responded to her. Her worship was the bridge between her request and result. Her worship unlocked the resources of heaven in her favour; her worship opened the door for her miracle. She switched from request to worship, and her request was granted.

Friend, if you place your requests from God ahead of your worship to God, beware, you may not get the attention you desperately desire from God. When you pay more attention to what you desire from God over and above God’s desire for your worship, you may end up with delayed expectations. The doors of heaven may not readily open to you if you are all request with no worship.

Be a worshipper. Worship God despite the requests He has not yet granted. Worship God with the fruit of your lips; worship God with your service; worship God even if you have requests bugging you down; worship God despite what you don’t have.

The gifts you desire can never be more important than the Giver. Never ignore the Giver because of the gifts He hasn’t given you. Focus on God, make Him the center of your worship, and He will make you the center of His miracles.

Romans 12 vs. 1 says: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

Prayer : Lord, I choose to worship You no matter what I desire from You, in Jesus’ name! Amen

BROKEN PROTOCOLS

“But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
(Matthew 15: 24)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus announced to the woman from Tyre and Sidon that He was sent specifically to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Jesus implied that He was not sent to the Gentiles. His mission was with the Jews. If He had healing, deliverance, miracles, etc, the only expected recipients were Jews: Gentiles had no portion.

Though the woman was not a Jew, she later got what she wanted from Jesus. Jesus' hand was turned in the direction of a Gentile woman who needed divine intervention, and she got it. The terms and condition of Jesus’ mission on earth were suspended to favour a Gentile woman; the law shut her out, but protocols were broken for her sake.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: protocols will be broken for your sake. Laws will be suspended in order to deliver your God-ordained results to you. Established procedures and protocols will be set aside to favour you. God will cause some men to give you what was not originally packaged for you; God will cause you to walk into open doors you were earlier disqualified from. Protocols are about to be broken for your sake.

When men say you have been shut out, grace will give you access; when they say you are not qualified, God will qualify you; when they say the law is against you, God’s word will speak for you. Every roadblock/protocol stopping your achievements in life will give way by the power of grace. Even if the law says no, grace will say yes!

Look beyond the protocols of men and look into the grace of God that is able to break every protocol for your sake. If Jehovah is involved, every protocol that is standing before you shall be broken into pieces.

Prayer : Lord, break every protocol that is standing against me, in Jesus’ name! Amen

DON'T STOP

“But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.”
(Matthew 15: 23)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams Of Joy Devotional today.

The people who wanted Jesus to send away the woman of Tyre and Sidon were His disciples. These men should have known how serious it was for someone to be afflicted by demons; they should have encouraged Jesus to come to her rescue. People who should have acted as supporters suddenly acted as haters/antagonists.

When Jesus’ disciples spoke against the interest of the woman, she didn’t walk away. She kept following Jesus. The fact that some people didn’t like seeing her around didn't cause her to go into hiding. She didn’t abandon her mission because a few unexpected haters were around. She did what she had to do despite the haters around her.

Friend, God says, don’t let your haters stop you. Don’t abandon your mission because of the opinion of men who are unhappy with you. Don’t allow the wickedness of the wicked to stop you from achieving the things you set out to achieve. Don’t allow the words that men have spoken against you to redefine you or make you slow down in your race.

Jesus’ disciples probably didn’t have people at home who were tormented by demons. Sometimes, your haters just don’t have the same issues you have, they may not be chasing the same results as you, they may not have the same values as you, and you will be making a mistake if you take them too seriously.

The haters (disciples) were still there when the woman of Tyre and Sidon got what she wanted from Jesus. Their presence didn’t change anything. God says, ignore your haters; their presence won’t change anything.

Micah 7 vs. 8 says: “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.”

Prayer : Lord, I won’t allow my haters to stop me, in Jesus name! Amen

“…And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.”
(Matthew 15: 23)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus’ disciples told Him to send away the woman from Tyre and Sidon. An innocent woman came to Jesus for divine intervention, but some people spoke words to stop her miracle. Some people used words to create a roadblock for the woman; they wanted to talk her out of her next level.

Eventually, the woman of Tyre and Sidon got her miracle despite the words of the disciples. Despite the words that were spoken to create a roadblock for her, she hit her target and got her desired results. The words of men didn't stop her from getting results. Men spoke against her, yet she got what she wanted.

Friend, God says, the words of men won't stop what is coming to you. When men speak ill of you, hoping to make a mess of your chances and stop your lifting, God won’t let them succeed. God will cause every evil word that is spoken against you to fail; God will embarrass those who speak against you in the secret and in the open. Every evil word spoken against you will come to nothing.

Immediately the disciples spoke against the woman from Tyre and Sidon, Jesus helped her. God will silence those that are speaking against you by doing things for you that will shut them up. God will embarrass your naysayers by bringing you miracles and testimonies that will be too outstanding to be ignored.

You may not always have an answer for everyone who speaks against you, but God will answer them on your behalf. The evil words of men will not stop you. Heaven will silence the naysayers.

Isaiah 44 vs. 25 says: “That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;”

Prayer : Lord, give me miracles that will silence the naysayers against me, in Jesus’ name! Amen

JOY BECKONS

“But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away...”
(Matthew 15: 23)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus’ disciples told Him to send away the woman of Tyre and Sidon. They spoke against her; they took a stand against Jesus’ intervention which was yet to happen; by demanding for her to be sent away, they opposed the healing and restoration of her daughter who was afflicted by demons.

Jesus later healed the young girl. He brought a miracle in the future. So there was something in the future of that woman of Tyre and Sidon. There was something special and supernatural in her future, and they opposed her. The opposition she faced was indicative of what was coming to her in the future.

Friend, the opposition you face today is indicative of the greatness that awaits you in the future. When the devil fights against you, it may not be because of what you have already seen God do in your life; it just might be because of what God is yet to do for you and in you.

When men gang up against you, it is a signal that something great is coming your way. If the enemy’s attacks become fierce, just know that you are closer to the greatness that the enemy has probably seen.

Don’t sulk because your haters have stepped up their attacks against you; just maybe God has also stepped up His package for you. The devil would probably not bother much with you if there was nothing much ahead of you; your haters would have given up on you if they saw nothing coming your way.

Between the challenge and the solution of the woman of Tyre and Sidon, there was opposition. The opposition against you is a sign; soon, the greatness in your future will manifest.

Psalm 30 vs. 5 says: “...weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

Prayer : Lord, may every opposition against me unveil a greater future for me, in Jesus’ name! Amen

RAISED BECAUSE OF HATERS

“23. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24. But he answered...”
(Matthew 15: 23-24)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus’ disciples told Him to send away the woman from Tyre and Sidon. She needed Jesus’ intervention, and when it was not forthcoming, the disciples wanted her to go away. They said she should go away because she was yet to be remembered.

When they spoke like haters to that woman, Jesus answered the woman. The answer that Jesus gave to the woman came immediately after the disciples spoke unfavourably and distastefully about her. What they said against her elicited what Jesus did for her.

Friend, are there haters speaking against you? Are there people mocking you because of what you do not have yet? God says, every word spoken against you by haters will trigger a chain of testimonies that sound like lies. When they mock you because of what you don’t have, God will arise to give you a testimony that will shut them up. When they laugh at you, their laughter will drive God into action on your behalf.

Celebrate every hater that has spoken or is speaking against you; their words and their gossip are raw materials for your next level; as they talk about you or laugh at you, God will remember you for good; the more they mock you for what you don’t have, the more God will make arrangements for you to have it.

Focus on God who is able to raise you above those who are speaking against you. Their words will cause God to raise you to the next level.

1 Samuel 2 vs. 3 says: “Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.”

Prayer : Lord, may the words of my haters cause You to raise me to the next level, in Jesus’ name! Amen

FORGET THE HATERS

“But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.”
(Matthew 15: 23)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus' disciples told Him to send the woman of Tyre and Sidon away. This woman needed Jesus' intervention, but because Jesus was yet to intervene, the disciples asked that she be sent away. Because of what she was yet to get from Jesus, the disciples ridiculed her and judged her harshly.

There are haters who ridicule us because of the answers we are yet to get from God. If you care to check, you would see haters who are laughing at you because of achievements you are yet to record, the cars you don’t have, the child you don’t have or the one you have that is yet unsuccessful, etc.

After they mocked her, she got Jesus’ attention. The disciples wrote the conclusion of her story when Jesus was still writing the introduction. They judged her harshly, but Jesus showed her kindness. They wrote her off, but Jesus gave her a rare chance. Jesus later gave her a miracle that shut them up for good.

Friend, tell your haters to stop judging you harshly. Tell those who mock you because of what you don’t have to keep calm and wait for Jesus to respond. Those who have written you off have no idea of what Jesus has in store for you; those who have condemned you have no idea that Jesus is on your case. When men write their conclusions, God will embarrass them by opening new chapters for you.

Also be fair when judging others- you might have to eat your words when you judge harshly. No matter what you see and you feel like judging, remember, God has the final say.

1 Corinthians 2 vs 16 says: “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”

Prayer : Lord, I choose to ignore those who judge me harshly; I won’t judge any man harshly, in Jesus’ name!Amen

KEEP FOLLOWING

“But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.”
(Matthew 15: 23)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, despite the entreaties of the woman from Tyre and Sidon, Jesus didn't speak a word to her. She had a challenge that needed divine intervention, she met Jesus face to face, but He didn't give her any reply. She desperately wanted an answer to a puzzle she couldn’t solve, but Jesus didn’t give her an answer.

Despite the fact that she did not immediately get an answer from Jesus, she kept following Him. She did not immediately get what she was looking for from Jesus, but she kept following Jesus. She kept following even when she was still empty handed. She followed even when her following was yet to pay off. She followed when nothing worked.

Friend, have you ever done everything to get Jesus’ attention, yet it seems He is not in a hurry to respond to you? Have you ever cried, prayed, sowed seeds and waited on God for answers you desperately need, yet He is curiously silent on your case?

Glean some wisdom: when you have no answers despite your repeated prayers, keep following Jesus. When you can't see the results of your fasting, prayers, seed sowing, etc, keep following Jesus. When it seems that Jesus is yet to give you attention despite all you’ve done to get His attention, keep following Him. Follow Jesus even if He seems to have left you empty handed.

The woman of Tyre and Sidon didn't follow Jesus in vain; she later got the results she wanted. If you keep following Jesus, in a matter of time, you will get what you're looking for. Follow Jesus and He will answer you.

Job 13 vs. 15 says: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.”

Prayer :Lord, even if You don’t answer me, I will still follow You, in Jesus’ name! Amen

SPIRITUAL UNDERTONES

“...a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying ...my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.”
(Matthew 15: 22)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

The woman in our Focal Scripture told Jesus that her daughter was vexed with a demon. Her daughter was suffering as a result of evil spirits. Her daughter was afflicted by demons. The young girl suffered physically because of a spiritual affliction within her. It was a spiritual problem that manifested physically.

Some physical, health, marital, etc challenges are manifestations of spiritual afflictions by the devil and demons. An enterprise may crumble because the enemy afflicted it and caused it to go down; what may appear purely physical may have a spiritual undertone.

Friend, God says, fight every demonic activity responsible for the physical challenges in and around you. Pray against every satanic projection causing harm to different areas of your life. Pray against every monitoring spirit that is causing you repeated negativities.

Pray against every negative controversial issue that can't be physically explained. Pray against the hand of the enemy in your family, children, marriage, career, business, ministry, academics, health, finances, nation, etc.

That woman who met Jesus was sensitive enough to know that her daughter’s problem was spiritual. If she didn’t know, maybe she would keep running around, seeking physical solutions to a spiritual problem. If you don't discern the spiritual undertones behind your physical challenge, you might invest in physical solutions that won't make any difference.

Look beyond every physical challenge and ask God to open your eyes to the spiritual undertone. Then, pray against it and seek divine intervention until the challenge disappears.

Prayer : Lord, help me to discern and defeat the spiritual forces behind my physical challenges, in Jesus name! Amen

BELIEVE IN YOUR FUTURE

“...a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David...”
(Matthew 15: 22)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the woman whose daughter was afflicted by demons called Jesus “thou Son of David”. When the Israelites called Jesus the son of David, they implied that He was the Messiah and that He was coming back to sit on the throne of David.

When they called Him “Son of David”, they were making reference to the future. So when that Gentile woman addressed Jesus as the “Son of David’, she simply believed in, and confessed a future she had not seen.

Friend, believe God for the future you are yet to see. Believe God for the greater heights you have not yet attained. Believe God for the amazing results you are yet to see with your eyes; believe God for the promises in His word that will be fulfilled in the future; believe God for your future possessions; even when the future seems far from you, believe that it will soon become your reality; believe in the future.

The woman of Tyre and Sidon later met the Jesus she believed in. The future she believed in later became her reality. God says, if you believe in your future, it will become your reality. If you believe God for the impossibilities you desire in your future, soon, they will become possible. Your belief is your link to a great future.

Speak into the future. Even if the future looks bleak, declare that it will end in praise and in your favour. Even if the future you desire makes no sense to people around you, keep speaking it until it becomes your reality.

1 Corinthians 2 vs. 9 says: “...Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

Prayer : Lord, I believe You for the future I am yet to see; cause it to become my reality, in Jesus’ name! Amen

GROW YOUR FAITH

“...a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.”
(Matthew 15: 22)

When the woman in our Focal Scripture met Jesus, she sought divine intervention. She spoke like one who believed that Jesus could rescue her daughter from bondage. She believed that Jesus was more powerful than the challenge her daughter faced. She believed in Jesus before she met Him.

This woman from Tyre and Sidon met Jesus, and that was the end of her daughter’s challenge. She met who she believed in. It started as a belief, but her belief later became her reality. Her belief became her future/result. Her belief altered the course of her generation. Her belief connected her to higher results that her location could not offer.

Friend, grow your faith and belief in God. Grow your confidence in what God can do; go beyond what your location can offer and expect the unbelievable and unimaginable from God. Believe God for the impossible; believe God for what you are yet to see; believe God for what hasn't happened for people around you; believe God for bigger things.

The woman of Tyre and Sidon later got what she believed. God says, your faith will connect you to uncommon results. Your belief will become your future; what you believe God for will soon become your testimony/reality; your faith will alter the course of your future; your faith in God will open the doors that have been shut against you.

Stop complaining and start believing God for more. If Jehovah is involved, your faith will become your reality; your faith will activate uncommon results.

Hebrew 11 vs. 6 says: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Prayer : Lord, may my faith bring me uncommon results, in Jesus’ name! Amen
