Abaribe also accused Tinubu of gradually turning the country into a one-party state—a move the president had vehemently opposed years ago as a major opposition figure, standing against the then-ruling PDP. He criticized Tinubu for failing to lead by example, living in opulence while Nigerians continue to suffer.
He further accused the president of running Nigeria like a monarchy in what he termed a “Kabiesi government,” where anything Tinubu says is deemed right, and anyone who challenges him is charged with treason.
“President Tinubu is now engaging in what he once opposed. He resisted the rampaging effect of the PDP, but now he is mobilising Nigeria into a one-party state. APC is keeping everyone in little silos. A leader should lead by example. If citizens are suffering, the President should identify with them.
“He must cut the cost of governance and stop the flamboyance for citizens to believe in him. You asked the public to cut their coat according to their cloth, yet you went to sew agbada. You cannot ask me to suffer while you live in opulence. It is simply a matter of integrity and trust in governance. State capture occurs when other arms of government become subservient to the executive,” Abaribe added.
BlessedGift: The former Deputy Governor of Abia State, has said the APC should not be deceived by those defecting to the party, describing the ruling party as a “giant with feet of clay.” He added that the APC could face the same fate as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which, despite controlling 28 states out of 36 at one point, was eventually voted out of power.
Abaribe, who referred to himself as a member of a coalition, said opposition members are working together to use the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to push the APC out of power, but they are waiting for the ADC to release its election guidelines.
The federal lawmaker said he sees the opposition becoming the majority in the next election and urged opposition parties to work together to liberate Nigerians from what he described as APC’s poor governance.
He said: “The next election will be APC against the people of Nigeria. Nigerians are hurting—and hurting badly. Those defecting to APC are also hurting and are waiting for us to take action. It is good that defections are happening now. Most Tinubu supporters cannot even go home and declare their support; they risk being stoned. The economy has collapsed, and security is nothing to write home about. APC is absorbing all the problems it will face. At one time, the PDP controlled 28 out of 36 states. Where is PDP today? APC will go the same way. I see the opposition forming the majority in the next election.

I belong to a political party but remain a member of the opposition. The opposition must unite, bury their differences, work harmoniously, and liberate Nigerians from the current state of the country.
“APC may appear as a giant, but it has feet of clay. Tinubu will lose the 2027 election. He never truly won the 2023 election, and everyone knows it. We accepted him because of the court judgment legalising his election. But this time, everyone will be ready. The results won’t be announced at 3 a.m.; the public will be aware of the outcome.”

I know for a fact that soldiers were issued blank bullets when they went to the Lekki toll gate.
Truths9ja: Just In: Rivers APC Chairman Tony Okocha hands Governor Siminalayi Fubara the APC membership card at Government House, Port Harcourt
In a dramatic show of party symbolism, Rivers State APC chairman Tony Okocha presented the APC membership card to Governor Siminalayi Fubara during a meeting at Government House, Port Harcourt. The gesture comes amid heightened tension between the governor and the APC‑led faction, which has repeatedly labeled Fubara’s recent outreach to pro‑Wike lawmakers a “Greek gift” and issued a 48‑hour ultimatum for his resignation or impeachment .
Okocha’s move underscores the party’s attempt to assert its influence over the state’s political landscape, even as the governor faces mounting pressure from the APC and the Rivers State House of Assembly. The meeting, held behind closed doors, is being closely watched for any sign of a political reconciliation or further escalation.
In the Republic of Benin, an attempted military coup was thwarted by the government, after soldiers appeared on national television claiming to have seized power.
But barely 12 hours later, Benin President Patrice Talon announced that the coup attempt was foiled, stating that the country’s armed forces and national guard remained loyal to the republic.
Meanwhile, 14 people have been arrested in connection with the coup attempt.
In the same vein, the coup leader Pascal Tigri reappeared in a video which went viral, stating that they undertook the mission to “free” Benin from the dictatorship of President Talon, before telling France to stay out of their internal affairs.
While ECOWAS called the coup an unconstitutional move, Nigeria sent air force fighter jets and ground troops to take over Benin’s airspace and help dislodge the coup plotters.
As a result, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commended Nigeria’s military for responding “swiftly” to the request by the Government of Benin to save its democracy from coup plotters. Online, it has prompted a wave of reactions, with some questioning why Nigeria is defending democracy in a foreign country while democracy at home is in disarray.
A dramatic session unfolded at the House of Representatives on Tuesday as lawmakers clashed over revelations that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) allegedly failed to remit more than N5.2 trillion in operating surpluses.
The apex bank was also implicated in over N11 trillion in revenue discrepancies uncovered in the administration of the Remita Revenue Collection System.
The uproar began shortly after Bamidele Salam presented the findings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), detailing a litany of financial infractions by the apex bank.
PAC’s investigation, anchored on the Auditor-General’s Report for 2022 and covering the period between March 1, 2015 and April 30, 2016, uncovered shortfalls, unexplained variances, and missing balances amounting to trillions of naira.
Tension heightened when a Rep., Mustapha Tijjani Ghali, rose to propose that the entire matter be withdrawn from the Public Accounts Committee and referred instead to a special ad hoc committee.

Former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Publisher, Dele Momodu, says a last-minute disruption to his planned road trip to Cotonou may have saved him from being caught in the failed coup attempt in Benin Republic.
Explaining that he was originally scheduled to be inside Benin Republic at the exact period the coup scare was unfolding.
He said the unexpected setback that stopped his 5 a.m. departure “was what saved us.”
Momodu narrated that the entire episode felt unreal, noting that he had already mapped out a familiar travel route.
His remarks come amid deepening controversy over the November 15 Ibadan convention, which produced Turaki as National Chairman with the backing of governors such as Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has vowed that he and other founding members of his led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party will not allow individuals who joined the party from other platforms to “kill” it through disobedience to court orders and parallel activities.
Wike, made this known during the party’s 104th National Executive Committee meeting held at his official residence in Abuja.
Wike accused the Turaki-led faction of violating two Federal High Court judgments by conducting what he described as an “illegal convention,” referring to the Ibadan gathering that elected Tanimu Turaki, SAN, and others into the National Working Committee after the closure of Wadata Plaza.
“You went to a State High Court to sue INEC, asking that the convention must take place, and you got an ex parte order to override judgments of the Federal High Court. How do you disobey two final judgments and still claim leadership?” he said.
He faulted the faction for “running from court to court” while disregarding subsisting rulings.
“You had the convention without obeying the court, and now you are back asking a Federal High Court to recognise you. If INEC already recognises you, what exactly are you going to court for?” he asked.
The FCT Minister warned that such actions threaten the survival of the party, stressing that PDP, formed in 1998, cannot be allowed to collapse due to personal interests.
