My Car Engine oil leaks, this has been an issue and i need a very experienced and professional Honda Mechanic to help me fix it.

Any advise please?
There is certainly a leak somewhere beneath your hood, it could be the sump , a loose oil filter or broken gaskets and oil seals it depends on where the leak is most prominent let a good honda specialist visually inspect properly, or better still when you park the car overnight try to look around under the engine the next morning you should be able to see where the leakage is coming from, and subsequently arrange for a fix.

Siena:
Really? Change your engine oil 12 times per annum? I'm yet to see any manufacturer recommend monthly oil changes. I have also never seen carbon monoxide in the atmosphere dictate oil change intervals. Short trips, where the engine may not achieve the optimum operating temperature WILL cause oil to get contaminated earlier, due to condensation in the cylinder bores and intake manifold.

If you're citing carbon monoxide in the atmosphere as a factor to consider with regards to oil change intervals, how about carbon monoxide within the engine itself, as a result of blow-by in combustion?

Again, where do you get this information? Replacing your oil every 1,875 miles? Some drivers cover about 2,000 miles per month. They'll probably end up with 14 oil and filter changes per annum. Based upon your analogy, these drivers may end up spending similar, or more money on lube services, than they do on fuel.

Use a good quality oil (Synthetic / Long Life) and the most you'll need to carry out oil and filter changes will be once every 6 months.
And for those who do not use synthetic oil?

@ Sienna changing your oil on monthly basis is dependent on you driving pattern, if you are one of those long distance drivers who cover more than 5,000 kilometers monthly in their travels then you would understand the essence of this write up.

Car TalkHead To Head The Volkswagen Tiguain Vs The Honda CRV by blessedjohny4u(op): 9:14pm On Mar 19, 2016
Hmm, its relatively difficult to distinguish which brand is superior to the other given the outstanding performance of these two products, the Volkswagen Tiguain and the Honda CRV are two different concepts that have made resounding statements amongst a poll of today,s cross over vehicles, known for their well spaced and cozy interiors, excellent drivabilty experience and superb off road abilities, there is little or nothing to really distinguish this two Trojans of the road.

In the weight of all these seemingly astonishing qualities we have
to find a way to set apart these two super heavy weight light SUV,S pound for pound just to establish plain text car facts about these vehicles and to further constitute a basis for options when faced with the dilemma of selecting one out of these two vehicles.

INTERIOR AND DESIGN

This aspect practically tells two different stories of the Tiguain and the CRV, while the former is known for its simplicity and easy to handle features, the latter gets a swipe for being too complex for an easy every day user, the Tiguain is equipped with adequate interior space capable of seating around five adults at a go with an additional 470 litres of booth space, an extra cushion to this is the ability to slide the rear seat either forward or backward in order to provide enough leg room for the occupants of the rear seat.

On the other hand the CRV is considered even more spacious, with much more comfortable seats and wide range of adjustments and positions for the rear seats, taller passenger can as well feel at home even on long distance trips, the CRV is equipped with 589 litres of luggage space which is expandable to a considerable 1,648 litres to accommodate more baggage's

FINAL SCORE; The Honda seem to be more superior in this aspect given its more superior boot size and seat adjustments.

ENGINE CHOICE

There are several choices of engines for both brands, the Honda CRV is equipped with three choices of engines the 2,0 petrol, 2.2 and 1.6 litre diesel engines, the diesel options are much more favoured when it involves fuel economy and maximum low torque, while the 2.0 petrol engine is clear cut for smooth and quiet drive all the way.

The tiguain on the other hand is spoilt with a lot of engine choices down the line, most notably diesel engines with the most potent version the 2.0 TDI which combines an amazing 184hp with 50 mpg

FINAL SCORE: The Tiguain gets the upper hand in this instance given its array of choice.

DRIVE

Both cars offers virtually the same driving experience, with little or no difference , for the tiguain the the handling has more emphasis on safety rather than performance while the CRV has its strong points on the whole experience rather that just one particular aspect the CRV offers some bit of comfort, predictability and handling .

FINAL SCORE: On the back drop these comparison its fit to give the CRV a fairly upper hand in these case just because it has got some bit of everything.

STYLING

Styling is an integral part of the story, while the Tiguain maintains its golf like looks and perfect styling, the
Honda CRV appears a lot more refined and stylish given its much longer history in the SUV market segment, the with a lot more refinement and design to the latest edition of the CRV its safe to conclude that it appear much more appealing than the Tiguain which is expected to be a lot more refined , re-modified and restructured when a new model comes underway,

FINAL SCORE : On current par the CRV looks a lot more appealing give its stylish looks and and aesthetics

FINAL VERDICT: On the backdrop of the above reviews the CRV look to be more on top in the area of design , comfort , while performance remains a case to be seen, on this conclusion the CRV slightly edges the Tiguain on current standings and should make a slightly smarter choice for buyers looking at these two variables.

Car TalkWhen To Do Oil Change For Your Car by blessedjohny4u(op): 9:59pm On Mar 14, 2016
The engine oil in your car engine is the life and blood line of your engine without it may things would go wrong , maybe this is an understatement to say , i cannot imagine an engine that would run for at least 10 minutes without having engine oil in .

I am compelled to write this post given the rather recurrent disparity of when appropriate to do a regular Oil and fitter change for your car engine as a precautionary measure most manufacturers of today's cars emphatically states when its best appropriate to do a routine oil change for their various brands be it a Honda, Toyota, Mercedes or Nissan every cars there cars spec has its own service interval.

When to do an oil change for your car requires few consideration
these considerations will determine when best you can carry out an oi change for your car regardless if the your car has attained the required mileage for this, these factor includes your driving pattern, Kind of oil you use , engine type and age of the car

For most Japanese made cars and indeed every cars on the road the appropriate interval of when to do do oil change is pegged at every 7,000 kilometers regardless of your any factor most technicians stick to this time circle which is a common practice.

DRIVING PATTERN

Your driving pattern tells a lot about when to do an oil change for your car this is so because many motorist are cut everyday of the week either in stop and go traffic or on the highways, these are two different scenarios that affects the time interval of when to do your oil change, if you are the type that is always cut up in traffic or you live very close to a noisy and polluted areas its best best to do your service one every month or at ;least every 5,000 kilometers ,reason because while in traffic your engine takes in carbon monoxide from the pollution created by other vehicles and from a considerable hot environment, these factors contributes in breaking down the compounds of your engine oil much faster therefore rendering it less efficient as the days go by, when caught up in stop and go traffic regularly always ensure to do your oil change every single month or at best every 5,000 kilometers.

OIL TYPE
Engine oil type goes a long way in determining when to do oil change for your car, be it synthetic oil or regular once , for synthetic oil service intervals or oil change tends to take a bit longer to because of the quality of the oil , but if you car uses a regular oil its best to to do your oil change quite sooner than expected , my best bet here is to do oil change for synthetic oil at the stipulated 7,000 km while your regular or non synthetic oil change should be adhered strictly at 5,000 km.

ENGINE TYPE

Engine type goes a long way in determining when you do oil change, there are several engine types out there , be it high performance engines and regular engines, high performance engines are those engines that are built with an extra purpose in mind these engines are specifically found in cars with higher specifications and limited ans sports editions and are thought to perform at a higher capacity than the normal engines, if your car is driven by a high performance engine its imperative that you do an oil change at manufacturers specified time-frame or on the safe side of every 3,000 km given the complex nature of your car.

AGE OF CAR

The age of your car also determines when to do your oil change, engines of older cars require these regular oil change to stay fit because of the compulsory wear and tear which they might have passed through over the years, as the the car gets older a regular oil change of at least 3,000 km is required to keep the engine up to date

Regardless of the above mentioned facts its best to stick to your car manufacturers manual for when to do oil change but a close consideration must be factored on the first point , yes most cars even go as far as 7 to 8,000 kilometers before an oil change for new cars and small trucks and SUV,S the ideal service interval should always be at 5,000 km, while older once can stick to the 3,000 mark for maintenance purpose.

Engine Misfire

The Engine of any Mechanical Device be it automobile or any other is solely responsible for its functionality, Engines are designed to function effectively as long as proper combustion takes place, for this combustion to be said to have taken place there has has to be an exact ratio of fuel and air mixture, if by para venture the air fuel ration isn't accurate enough that brings us to the issue on ground engine misfire, what is engine misfire?

An engine misfire simply is a situation where an
engine fuel ratio mixture is interrupted either by defective components or other related factors,
Engine misfires most times constitute a great deal of problems to car owners most notably fuel consumption,.

CAUSES OF ENGINE MISFIRE
Engine misfire could be caused by several components in an engine ranging from ignition components to fuel supply components and all of that but to streamline these causative factors we ll take a close look at three of these likely components

SPARK PLUGS

spark plug

The spark plugs can easily be seen as the primary ignition component in an automobile engine come to think of it if other components are found to be in place and the spark plug is missing certainly combustion will not take place, a defective spark plug has all the tendency to trigger engine misfire, this small but vital component which links the ignition system to the engine proper becomes defective when the center electrode, copper core or the suppressor is unable to supply enough spark through the ground electrode to the piston, this will certain render the affected piston ineffective which ultimately leads to misfire

When faced with engine misfire issues one of the first components to inspect should certainly be the spark plug.

OXYGEN SENSORS
Image result for function of an oxygen sensor
oxygen sensor

To a layman this could sound ridiculous but in actual sense a defective oxygen sensor could trigger engine misfire, with the advent of technology in cars of today every function of the modern day car is monitored using a sensor, an oxygen sensor is a form of sensor that monitors the amount of fuel mixture, this small but vital components usually located along the exhaust manifold has the tendency to go bad and when it does the resultant effect usually progresses to engine misfire, as earlier stated the primary function of an oxygen sensor is to monitor the fuel mixture if it runs rich or lean, lets assume the fuel mixture is stable and the engine running proper, a faulty oxygen sensor could send a lean signal to the on board computer to dump more fuel in the combustion chamber which can ultimately lead to engine misfire or vise versa.

Several reasons why an oxygen sensor can go bad is as a result of age , mishandling by technicians or maybe electrical problems.

FAULTY AIRFLOW METER
Image result for air flow meter function
airflow meter

The airflow meter or air intake sensor as its popularly known these days is an engine component that primarily measures and monitors the quantity and speed of air that goes into the engine ,a defective air flow meter has the tendencies of causing an engine to misfire, this component can either go bad or certainly wear out on its own.

STUCK IDLE CONTROL VALVE
Image result for where is the idle control valve located
idle controlvalve

The basic function of an idle control valve is to regulate the or maintain a balance idle speed for engine this small component is usually found very close to the throttle body can easily cause an engine to misfire if it gets stuck with dirt which is usually the case, to correct this annomality all that is needed is to carefully remove this compomemt, and clean up using a carburetor spray or cleaner as the case may be this should do the trick (for diys, though)

ELECTRICAL ISSUES
Cars of today are more of wires and sensors than actuators, faulty electrical short circuit or bad fuses can also trigger engine misfire most of these fuel management systems are all interconnected by wires and cables if these cables snap or have loose connectors these could easily trigger engine misfire which can only be corrected through physical inspection or diagnosis

Other related issues that could lead to engine misfire are clogged up fuel filter, blocked fuel line, bad fuel pump or even a faulty E.C.M (rain box)

What ever the case might be it is advised to allow your techman carry out a proper diagnosis when faced with engine misfire, because of its environmental and financial hazards/

@kashif running a scan on that vehicle would have been the first thing to do this would have given you more insights as to why your transmission fluid got burn because that doesn't just happen.

As for rebuilding your transmission, YES IT CAN WORK. but under one condition. DO YOU HAVE O.E.M REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE? if you do then carry on.

Car TalkAll About The Torque Converter by blessedjohny4u(op): 7:20am On Jul 08, 2015
Image result for torque converter

To most owners of an automatic transmission car its all about hopping into your car, starting the engine and shifting the gear lever, the rest they say is automated, no clutching no revving as opposed to the manual transmission, quite interesting though.

Yes the clutch might be absent in the automatic transmission, but the whole system of propelling the car is done via the same old process.

A torque converter is to an automatic transmission what a clutch is to a manual transmission, both devices carry out the same process in seemingly different ways, NOW YOU KNOW YOUR AUTO TRANNY IS NOT ALL AUTO ANYWAYS!

In simple language a torque converter is a mechanical device responsible for transferring rotating power generated by an engine to a transmission via hydraulic process.

Instead of the clutch fitted in a manual transmission, the torque converter is fitted in the automatic transmission all to achieve the same result.

While the clutch achieves its motive by physically connecting to the transmission shaft via the use of gears, the torque converter achieves its motive using a hydraulic process.

HOW DOES THE TORQUE CONVERTER WORK?

The torque converter is made up of three main components

1The impeller

2. The turbine

3. The Stator

Image result for torque converter

The impeller or pump which is directly connected to the engine spins at the same speed as the engine, the impeller when spinning by virtue of its design(with fins inside) directs hydraulic fluids to the turbine(connected to the transmission) which allows it to spins at an opposite direction at almost a similar speed, a practical example is achieved when two standing fans are brought together in the same room facing each other, one of the fans is powered on to spin, the resultant effect is that the other facing it would spin at a different direction at almost the same speed, this is achieved using the air generated by the powered fan, in the case of the torque converter this is achieved using the hydraulic fluid enclosed within it. in a nutshell the impeller which spins the turbine using the hydraulic fluid allows the transmission to rotate and ultimately drives the car without any physical contact of both components this is because the turbine is directly connected to the transmission.

Image result for torque converter

Image result for torque converter

THE STATOR

The stator which is the third component in the torque converter is responsible for the reverse movement of the hydraulic fluid from the direction of the turbine to that of the impeller.

When the hydraulic fluid from the impeller is directed to the turbine it goes back to the direction of the impeller through the stator.

SIGNS OF A FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER

Sometime your automatic transmission car might begin to act up and you might wonder what the problem is, a torque converter when faulty can affect the way your car might generally run , here are some few tail signs that you might have a faulty torque converter

OVERHEATING

Yes overheating is a common sigh of a faulty torque converter this is always attributed to low fluid level or malfunctioning solenoids

TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE

Transmission slippage is also a sign of a malfunctioning torque converter, this occurs when little or no fluids is passed to the transmission this could cause gears to slip and will result to a loss of acceleration.

INCREASED STALL SPEED

When the torque converters goes bad it takes the transmission longer time to engage the engine, leading to higher than normal stall speed.

MESSY FLUID

When you check your transmission fluid and discover that there are particles of large black materials this means that the transmission or torque converter clutches are bad.

SHUDDERING

When it feels like you are running over bumps or rough roads at 30 to 50 mph when driving then its time to have a look at your torque a converter, a faulty torque converter can make you feel like you are running on a rough road when in actual sense you are not.

STRANGE REVVING SOUND

A strange revving or clicking sound is also a potential sign of a faulty torque converter.

Image result for torque converter

CAUSES OF TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEMS

Torque converter problems could vary from

DAMAGED TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCHES

Damaged torque converter clutches are a common problem, automatic transmissions also are equiped with clutches like the manual transmission these clutches are usually located throughout the transmission, these clutches go bad when they become jammed due to distortions or if the are burnt.

When this happens the vehicle stays stuck in gear.

DAMAGED NEEDLE BEARING

Needle bearings are the components that separate the turbine, impeller, and the stator, the resultant effects of them going bad is a rattling sound from the transmission

DAMAGED TORQUE CONVERTER SEAL

Car TalkRe: Help - Vibrations From The Suspension And Body Of My Mazda MPV by blessedjohny4u: 3:46pm On Jun 27, 2015

Hi All,

Please I need your sound inputs into this issue. I drive a Mazda MPV 2004. Since I bought it early this year, I have experienced vibrations from the suspension being transferred to the car body and steering, especially in the following situations:
1. Moving on rough/uneven roads
2. Moving on expansion joints on bridges (the front column/dashboard jolts up when this happens)

The whole car vibrates when the above situations occur, even up to the rear view mirror, seats.

Also, lately, I have also experienced some grinding noise from the front tire area, some gritting sound in the steering wheel and some sound when turning the steering.

I have changed the linkages, front shocks, lower arms as advised by my mechanic in July this year, I did a wheel balancing and alignment early this year but the situation still persists.

I would like your candid and professional advice. Thanks.
Consider replacing the engine mounts as well.
