All businesses and Companies registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and have defaulted in filing their Annual returns with CAC for the past ten years will be struck out from the CAC Public Register in the next two months.

The implications of this will include but not limited to:
1. The name might be available for another entity to apply to register and use.
2. Restricted access to funds lodged in the banks and assets/properties owned or bought with that name as they will be taken over by the Government.
3. To access the funds or assets seized, it can only be done through Court Order.
4. The entity can no longer transact business with that name.

What to do?
Check up whether your annual returns with CAC are up to date and if not kindly clear the backlog.

One of the secondary schools in Akwa Ibom,( Community Secondary School, Uruk Ata II , Etim Ekpo LGA) is collecting Two thousand naira (N2000) each from the JS3 students about to/writing the Junior School Certificate Examinations (JSCE) otherwise called Junior WAEC. The school says the money is for taking care of Exam Conditions.

My cousin who is one of the candidates sent me an SMS demanding for money. I called one of the PTA exco members to confirm the reason for the payment. He affirmed that it's the amount he is also paying for his daughter. He said he didn't want to be seen as confronting the Principal though he knew the money was illegal.

If the State Government doesn't rise now against this,( it is possible other schools are collecting more than this) the much publicised free education will be thwarted by some corrupt principals and teachers.
