The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially announced the release of the 2024 Batch 'B' Stream 2 call-up letters for prospective corps members. The announcement was made via a series of posts on the corps’ official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday.

The orientation camp for this stream is scheduled to commence on August 28, 2024, and will run until September 17, 2024.

In the announcement it was stated that some prospective corps members assigned to Lagos will be attending their orientation in Ogun and Osun states. Similarly, those posted to Zamfara may have their orientation in Kebbi and Sokoto states, among other arrangements.

To ensure a smooth registration process, the NYSC has urged all prospective corps members to print and sign an addendum, which is to be submitted during the registration at the orientation camp.

This announcement follows the earlier release of call-up letters for Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 in July, where the orientation camp was held from Wednesday, June 26, to Monday, July 1, 2024, with the swearing-in ceremony taking place on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

In the heart of the Umunze community in Anambra State lies a vast expanse of land that was once a hopeful whisper of development. Now, bushes have overgrown that portion of land meant for the establishment of a school for delinquent children as the project remains uncompleted.

On July 8, 2024, prompted by widespread outcry from Ogun State residents about the deplorable state of roads in the
state, Governor Dapo Abiodun visited the Alagbole-Ayawoele-Ajuwon and Akute Roads to witness firsthand their
condition.

He declared that these roads would see active construction within three weeks. According to him, "We have set a firm two-week deadline for the completion of the Denro-Ishasi Road project, and within two weeks, maximum three weeks, there will be active construction along Alagbole-Ayawoele-Ajuwon and Akute roads."

President Bola Tinubu has signed the minimum wage bill into law, raising the National Minimum Wage from ₦33,000 to ₦70,000. This action concludes months of discussions among government officials, labour unions, and the private sector.

The bill was signed on Monday at the State House in Abuja, shortly after the National Assembly passed the Minimum Wage Act, 2019. A delegation from the National Assembly, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and several House of Representatives members, were present.

Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, emphasized that this move fulfills a campaign promise. "President Tinubu's signing of the minimum wage bill demonstrates his commitment to a people-centric governance model," he stated.
