Celebrities › Farooq Oreagba: Ojude Oba Sensation Details Cancer Battle, Shares How He Survive by Blessing28s(op): 4:00pm On Jun 24, 2024
The name Farooq Oreagba has stayed on everyone’s lips like lip gloss on a lady during harmattan. Fame came calling as the King of Steeze made a grand entrance at Ojude Oba, defying cancer and living life to its fullest.

The Ojude Oba, a festival held to pay homage to the monarch of the land, the Awujale of Ijebuland, had people coming in their thousands with gorgeous matching attires. However, Farooq caught everyone’s eye as he maintained composure in every frame, which launched him into fame and fandom.

The Ijebu Ode icon, who became the physical representation of the Gen Z slang “steeze,” detailed his cancer experience and how it has changed his approach to life in an Arise interview, stating, “Being diagnosed with cancer was the best thing to ever happen to me.”

The investment banker and Managing Director of NG Clearing Limited said, “From the moment I was diagnosed with cancer in February 2014 it’s an incurable form of cancer, so, your priorities change. You don’t know how much time you’ve got, you line up your list of priorities. For me, family first because I don’t know how long I’m going to be around, but by God’s Grace, I’m 10 years and counting, and I’m not about to since I’ve been crowned King of Steeze – I’m not about to just go like that anytime soon.”

Celebrities › "Only 2% Are Christians" -- Reno Omokri Explains Why India Is More Prosperous Th by Blessing28s(op): 8:54am On Jun 24, 2024
My greatest education is not my British education. Rather, it is travel. One country that blew my mind is India. Few countries have as much self confidence as India has.

In India, they painstakingly renamed all their towns and cities from the names the British gave them. Bombay was restored to Mumbai, Calcutta reverted to Kolkata, Bangalore changed to Bengaluru, and so on. And you do not see brides getting married in white dresses. Indian brides generally marry in red. Red is their traditional marital colour.
And the only books that they translated into Hindi were science books. Only 2% of their population is Christian. They retained their ancient religion, Hinduism. Today, they are more prosperous than the tithe payers of Africa and their Daddy GOs.

Another culture shock you get from India is that you can spend a week there and not find anyone named John, Michael, James, George, or even sillier names, like Cletus, Remigius, Urbanus, or any other -us ending name. If it is not Deepak, it will be Rahul, Tribhuvan, Sanjay, Pradeep or Rajiv. If you cannot pronounce their names, that is your headache! And we can learn from that in Nigeria.

Romance › Reasons A Man May Not Marry You Even After Years Of Dating by Blessing28s(op): 12:55pm On Jun 22, 2024
Dating someone for many years can often lead to expectations of marriage, but sometimes that anticipated proposal never comes.

Understanding the reasons behind this can provide clarity and help manage expectations. Here are several potential reasons why a man might not marry you, even after a long-term relationship.

1. Fear of Commitment

One of the most common reasons is a fear of commitment. Despite being in a long-term relationship, the idea of marriage can be intimidating for some men. Emotional barriers which can stem from past experiences or witnessing negative relationships can create a fear of commitment. He might worry about the potential for divorce or losing his independence. Commitment issues can also stem from deeper psychological factors, such as attachment styles or personal insecurities.

2. Comfort in the Status Quo

Many men may feel content with the current state of the relationship and see no need to change it by getting married. If he feels the relationship is already fulfilling and stable, he may not see the need for a formal commitment. Also, some people are resistant to change and may fear that marriage will alter the dynamics of the relationship.

3. Financial Concerns

Financial stability and concerns about the costs associated with marriage can be significant barriers. The financial burden of a wedding, combined with potential future financial responsibilities, can be daunting. Also, he might prioritize his career or financial goals and feel that marriage could interfere with these priorities.

Crime › Nnamdi Kanu Seeks Out-of-court Settlement After 3 Years In Detention, Here's Wha by Blessing28s(op): 11:12am On Jun 20, 2024
The leader of the secessionist group Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is seeking to negotiate with the Nigerian government to drop the treasonable felony charges against him.

Mr. Kanu, who has been detained since 2021, faces trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja over his separatist campaigns aimed at creating the Biafra Republic from Nigeria.

At the court hearing on Wednesday, 19th June, Mr Kanu’s lawyer, Alloy Ejimakor, notified the judge, Binta Nyako, that his client was seeking to dialogue with the government to drop the charges.

With reference to section 17 of the Federal High Court Act, Mr Ejimakor stated, “In any proceeding, the court may promote reconciliation among parties thereto and encourage and facilitate the amicable settlement thereof.”

Barrister Ejimakor also moved an application objecting to the court’s jurisdiction to try the IPOB leader, who appears in court from the State Security Service (SSS) custody in Abuja. He said that his client would pursue an out-of-court settlement route if the court rejected his application challenging the court’s jurisdiction.

He also stated that he had a discussion with prosecuting counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), concerning the proposition. However, according to the defense lawyer, the prosecutor told him to leave the discussion for another time.

Prosecution, Judge Reacts

The federal government's prosecuting lawyer, Mr. Awomolo, informed the court that he did not have the authority to negotiate with the defendant on behalf of the government and that he asked him to approach the Attorney General of the Federation to discuss the issue.

Crime › Mobhad: How Singer's Family Went From Demanding Autopsy To Rejecting It by Blessing28s(op): 3:31pm On Jun 19, 2024
After the last autopsy result saga, the family of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, have come out to reject the autopsy results, demanding an independent post-mortem and toxicology analysis to uncover the true cause of his death.

Mohbad, who died on September 12 at the age of 27 under controversial circumstances, had his remains exhumed by the police for an autopsy on September 21 in order to determine the cause of his sudden death after outrage from fans.

However, the autopsy results were deemed inconclusive by Sunday Osiyemi, a pathologist at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). Osiyemi attributed the inconclusiveness to factors such as body decomposition and potential reactions to medications Mohbad had received before his death.

Challenge to Autopsy Authenticity

Premium Times reported that the Aloba family led by Mohbad's father, Joseph Aloba, and their legal team headed by Wahab during a virtual press conference challenged the Lagos State Government to confirm the authenticity of the autopsy expressing dissatisfaction with the inconclusive autopsy results and demanded a thorough investigation.

The family raised concerns about the location where the autopsy was conducted, seeking clarification and transparency.

Events › Ojude Oba: All You Need To Know About Ijebu’s Magnificent Festival by Blessing28s(op): 2:52pm On Jun 19, 2024
In recent times, pictures of beautiful Ijebu men and women clad in gorgeous “asoebi” in large numbers have set the internet ablaze, and this year is no different. However, beyond the style, aura, and vibrant colors, the Ojude Oba Festival symbolises a rich cultural heritage.

What Ojude Oba about

The literal meaning of Ojude Oba is the King’s forecourt or frontage or the Majestic Outing. It is celebrated annually by the yoruba’s of Ijebu land on the third day of sallah ‘Ileya’ celebration to pay homage to the reigning monarch of the land, Awujale of Ijebuland.

Here’s how it came to be
The Ojude Oba festival began as a small gathering of Muslim converts in Ijebu-Ode over 100 years ago. These early Muslims paid homage to the Awujale of Ijebu-land, expressing gratitude for the freedom to practice their faith.

The roots of this festival trace back to 1878 during the reign of Awujale Ademuyewo Afidipotemole. Alli, a slave who later became known as Alli-Tubogun, started openly practicing Islam with his master’s blessing, facing no barriers or fears of persecution. His efforts, supported by his master, led to the growth of Islam in the region. By 1880, Islam had gained numerous followers, and local mosques were established throughout Ijebu-Ode.

Business › NCC: 7 Reasons Why Your Data Depletes Speedily And How To Stop It by Blessing28s(op): 1:31pm On Jun 18, 2024
Amid rising complaints from mobile subscribers in Nigeria about the swift depletion of their data bundles, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has provided an explanation.

The NCC has identified seven key factors contributing to this issue and offered advice on how subscribers can maximize their data usage.

According to the NCC, the following factors and apps are major contributors to the rapid depletion of mobile data:

1. Background Data Usage: Many apps run in the background, consuming data even when not actively used. Examples include social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter; messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram; and email apps like Gmail and Outlook.

2. Automatic Updates: Apps, operating systems, and other software often update automatically, using significant amounts of data. Examples include updates from Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and system updates for Android and iOS.

3. GPS and Location Services: Apps requiring continuous GPS tracking, such as Google Maps, Waze, and fitness apps like Strava, consume a lot of data.

Education › We Aspire, The Youth Initiative Nurturing Global Leaders by Blessing28s(op): 3:16pm On Jun 17, 2024
If you dream it, you can achieve it. Safe to say, your dreams are valid. This is a mantra that We Aspire Youth Mentorship Initiative stands for, and strongly so.

Just like Mary asked, the people of Akure, who weren’t familiar with the initiative’s vision, inquired of Angel Ifeoluwa in 2015, saying, “How can these things be?” They obviously needed substantial evidence to embrace it.

However, after almost a decade of impacting lives, the vision birthed by Dr. Ifeoluwa no longer needs pitching. Its light burst forth despite encountering the darkness of the “Doubting Thomas” syndrome. We Aspire Youth Mentorship Initiative is no longer crawling or walking but now flying, as seeds carried by the wind and germinating on good soils all over the world.

What's the We Aspire Youth Mentorship Initiative all about?

We Aspire Youth Mentorship Initiative is a non-governmental organization born out of the drive to birth global leaders for sustainability. Our vision is to innovate pragmatic solutions to educational system challenges in Nigeria and beyond.

Politics › Aper Aku Writes Gov. Alia From The Great Beyond by Blessing28s(op): 3:31pm On Jun 16, 2024
Our ancestors said I should tell you that they are glad to see that you have now removed the previous regalia and are now ruffling feathers and busting balls in suit and traditional attire rather than liturgical vestments.

I personally do not feel comfortable interfering in the affairs of your leadership. But I have been itching to write you since the 29th of May 2023 when you were sworn in as executive governor of Benue State. A state l once served as governor. I feared as your admirers cheered you to the high heavens, including the irritating pretentious men and women who called themselves sons and daughters of Benue State without the required moral credentials, and the external enemies who for a long time, have been disguising as friends of the state. I was extramondane here and since have been wondering how best to message you.

Let me start by saying that your friend and once a senior colleague, Rev. Father Orshio Adasu finally figured out the workaround I am using to send this message to you. So he and the likes of Wantaregh Paul Unongo, though yet to be committed to the mother earth, and several others of your ancestors all say l should tell you they wish you well.

They said I should tell you that they are glad to see that you are wagging fingers, ruffling feathers and busting administrative balls in the streets of Makurdi town and other parts of the hamlets in the state.

In the words of Adasu, "For some of us who were in the vineyard and later in politics like you now find yourself, we understand you and the shepherd's enthusiasm in your head. Your adoration for a “social reform” in every sphere of the state is not something we expect you to abandon in a hurry looking at the pathetic status of the state in this 21st century generation of states in the federal republic of Nigeria; Benue State at some point seemed to have stopped moving both democratically and economically. Having said that, I write to say, be wary, be wary, be wary of, my son/soul brother.

I can see that you are having minor problems understanding the political landscape in Benue State. I could help you out.

Family › No Father’s Day Recognition Or Celebration: United Nation’s Systemic Gender Bias by Blessing28s(op): 8:03am On Jun 16, 2024
Dear United Nations,

I write to you today with a sense of outrage, disappointment, and frustration. Despite your lofty pledges to achieve a just and equal world, you have consistently ignored days dedicated to celebrating men. This blatant disregard for half of the global population is a stark reminder of the systemic gender bias that pervades your institution.

You proudly proclaim your commitment to gender equality, yet you hypocritically ignore the unseen sacrifices of fathers, husbands, and sons. You claim to champion the rights of the marginalized, but men are seemingly invisible to you. Your silence is deafening. It perpetuates a harmful narrative that men are not worthy of recognition or celebration. This not only harms men but also has far-reaching consequences for families, communities, and society as a whole.

You celebrate numerous days dedicated to women, including:
– International Women’s Day (March cool
– International Girls’ Day (October 11)
– International Day of the Girl Child (October 11)
– Women’s History Month (March)
– International Women’s Day of Peace and Disarmament (May 24)

These celebrations are important and necessary, but they also highlight the stark contrast in recognition and celebration of men. There are no UN-recognized days dedicated to celebrating men or boys, a disparity that perpetuates harmful gender stereotypes and discrimination.

Politics › Survey Shows How Nigerians Rate Biden, Trump Ahead US Election by Blessing28s(op): 4:22pm On Jun 15, 2024
Ahead of the US presidential election, there is no statistical difference between the ratings of President Joe Biden and ex-President Donald Trump, in Nigeria, Ghana and six other nations.

This is according to a survey in 34 countries by Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about issues.

It was conducted before Trump’s conviction in a state criminal trial in New York.

The center made its findings known in a statement on Saturday.

The survey revealed that internationally, Biden is viewed more positively than his rival, including in Kenya and South Africa.

However, people in Hungary and Tunisia give Trump more positive reviews than Biden, although neither leader gets especially high marks there.

Romance › How To Revive A Dying Relationship by Blessing28s(op): 10:45am On Jun 15, 2024
Relationships, like living organisms, require constant nurturing and care to thrive.

When signs of decline appear—be it dwindling communication, frequent arguments, or emotional disconnection—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and unsure about the future. Yet, many relationships can be saved with commitment, effort, and the right strategies.

Here are some practical steps to help revive a dying relationship:

1. Open and Honest Communication
One of the most common reasons relationships falter is poor communication. Partners may stop expressing their needs, feelings, or concerns, leading to misunderstandings and resentment. To remedy this:

Initiate Conversations: Start by having an open discussion about what each of you is feeling. Use “I” statements to express your feelings without blaming your partner (e.g., “I feel neglected when you spend a lot of time at work” instead of “You never spend time with me”).

Active Listening: Pay full attention when your partner speaks, showing empathy and understanding. Avoid interrupting or planning your response while they are talking.

Regular Check-ins: Schedule regular times to discuss the relationship and any issues that may arise. This can help prevent small problems from escalating.

2. Rebuild Trust

Trust is the foundation of any strong relationship. If trust has been broken, rebuilding it takes time and consistent effort.

Be Transparent: Share your thoughts, feelings, and daily activities openly. Transparency helps rebuild trust by showing your partner that you have nothing to hide.

Consistency and Reliability: Follow through on promises and commitments. Being dependable reassures your partner that they can count on you.

Forgiveness and Patience: Forgiving past mistakes and being patient with each other during the rebuilding process is crucial. Trust doesn’t return overnight, but with effort, it can be restored.

Romance › Reasons Ladies Say No To Their Partner’s Proposal by Blessing28s(op): 9:20am On Jun 15, 2024
A marriage proposal is often seen as a pivotal moment in a romantic relationship, symbolizing commitment and a shared future. However, not all proposals lead to an immediate “yes.”

Understanding why women may say no to their partner’s proposal involves exploring the complexities of relationships, individual aspirations, and timing.

Here’s an in-depth look at some common reasons behind this decision:

1. Timing and Readiness

Timing plays a crucial role in accepting a marriage proposal. A woman may say no if she feels she or the relationship is not yet ready for such a significant commitment.
She may prioritize personal goals, career aspirations, or self-discovery before committing to marriage. Also, she may feel that the relationship needs more time to mature or overcome certain challenges before taking the next step.

2. Lack of Emotional Readiness
Committing to marriage requires emotional readiness and alignment. A lady may say no if she feels uncertain about her emotions or the depth of her connection with her partner.
She may have doubts about the long-term compatibility or emotional intimacy in the relationship. Issues such as past relationship experiences or concerns about future challenges can lead to apprehension about marriage.

3. Differing Relationship Expectations

Differences in relationship expectations can influence a woman’s decision regarding marriage. Misalignment in future aspirations, such as family planning, lifestyle choices, or career paths, can create hesitation. Differences in cultural backgrounds or religious beliefs may impact perspectives on marriage and future commitments.

Politics › Democracy Day: “hunger Dey” – Nigerians Tackle Tinubu by Blessing28s(op): 5:37pm On Jun 12, 2024
It’s been 25 years since Nigeria’s 4th Republic began, 25 years since the last transition from military rule to democratic rule. However, 24 years of celebrating our strive for democracy.

On the 29th of May, 1999, former President Olusegun Obasanjo (OBJ) assumed office as the newly elected president, marking a significant transition to a government system based on this simple ideology as established by Abraham Lincoln: the government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

In enshrining the pillars of democracy, Nigeria has consistently made government changes through elections over the years. However, whether the rule of law is respected, free and fair elections are carried out, or the rights of the people are upheld remains questionable, especially in light of the last general elections with their many lapses.

Being a day of deep reflection, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his Democracy Day speech, stated, “Democracy is not a foreign or abstract concept devoid of real-life meaning for us, neither can we afford to reduce or minimize it to being nothing but the mere holding of periodic elections where one candidate and party outdo the other. While elections attract democratic attention, they are but one aspect of democracy.

Career › SPOTLIGHT: Meet Ukan Kurugh, The Activist Fighting Human Rights Violation In Ben by Blessing28s(op): 8:16am On Jun 12, 2024
In the English language, a “conditional statement”is one that begins with a hypothesis, and follows with a conclusion. Often, we think of these statements as “if/then” statements.

For example: “If you think that you must have the whole resources at your disposal before you start impacting on the people, then you might be wrong.”

“If you find the above example so interesting, then you are probably not alone.”

“If you are wondering why I am explaining a conditional statement in an article about a human rights activist in Benue State, then you might find the answer in the next paragraph.”

I am bringing this up because of the humanitarian lifestyle that Ukan Kurugh has been rolling out in Benue State for quite some time now and the strong If-statements that have been making him to wag stronger.

Ukan Kurugh who has no legal background other than holding a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Benue State University, Makurdi has a passion for humanism in Benue State that seems to surpass any other interest.

Benue State apart from the economic disgruntlement and farmer-herders crises, is one of the states in Central Nigeria with a very high rate of human rights violation. These violations cut across significant areas of concern including but not limited to child abuse, man slaughter, burglary, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

Despite the establishment of a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in the state in January 2023, there have been significant delays in its activation due to a lack of necessary resources, which has hindered support for victims of these violations.

For instance, according to the National Human Rights Commission, over 98% of human rights violations reported in Benue State are related to sexual assaults and related abuses. According to an online Punch Newspaper report on February 8th, 2023, Benue State recorded about 4,000 cases of Gender-Based Violence in the year.

Politics › Nigerians’ Plight: Why L Refused To Write President Tinubu by Blessing28s(op): 4:12pm On Jun 11, 2024
Let me start by saying that when plunder is allowed to reign for a significant period of time restitution requires greater sacrifices and when the drumbeats of self-centeredness, half-truth and apathy finally fade, the beautiful melodies of unity and progress rise painting a brighter future where honesty, dialogue, and shared dreams find the best climate to infiltrate and expand for national prosperity.

Dear reader, this is a plea for national reflection. It is an urgent call to move from apathy to action, confronting corruption and embracing unity of purpose for nation building.

I have been in Nigeria for several years now and since my adulthood I have seen and heard many people leaving Nigeria to other climes which have been put in order by human beings just like Nigerians. Some of the people ran away because they were starving while some were smuggled out by greed.

It is disheartening but not quite important to dwell on the issue of the stunning population of those our brothers and sisters who are well representing our country in those countries as one the lesser developed, lesser civilized and most conscienceless bunches of human population on earth. If not so, why did they run instead of standing and developing their land? Oh, maybe they thought that even the tiniest hope is not there but l can tell them there is a big hope for Nigeria.

Nigeria seems to have been in serious trouble for some time now and I don’t think the country has any proper justification for that. Let me quickly mention that it irritates me when I hear people bring up the most inattentive argument saying the West, whom they are still running to, contributed mostly in complicating Nigeria’s destiny. They bring such arguments citing colonial exploitation as how the European colonial powers exploited Africa’s natural and human resources for their own benefit, extracting valuable minerals, agricultural products, and labor. They harp on the exploitation often mentioning forced labor, unfair trade practices, and the imposition of cash crop economies that disrupted local food production and traditional economies.

Following a labour force shortage, Germany has further opened its doors by easing visa rules to allow foreign workers to enter the country.

Germany announced the launch of an online portal for citizens of other countries including Nigeria seeking to relocate and work in the country as part of its strategy to address the labour shortage with skilled foreign workers. This announcement was made on June 1st, 2024, on Germany’s Federal Foreign Office Consular Services Portal.

Here’s all you need to know

The German government has launched a portal for Nigerians to apply for an Opportunity Card, which offers skilled Nigerians the chance to relocate and work in Germany.

The Opportunity Card is designed to attract skilled workers from non-European Union (EU) countries, including Nigeria. It serves as a residence permit that allows individuals from third countries—nations outside the EU—to enter Germany to seek employment.

The card is valid for up to one year and can be extended if the individual finds qualified employment, allowing them to obtain a subsequent residence permit for further job searching or employment.

Celebrities › Grass To Grace Series (25): Sabinus’ Rise From Earning N10k Per Show To Global by Blessing28s(op): 11:23am On Jun 11, 2024
Oga Sabinus is no strange name in the entertainment industry. One look at his face and your lungs start quaking from laughter.

Comedian, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu aka Mr. Funny has no intention to waste your time cause his investor moves filled with doom would make you holler in no distance time. His signature dress code: blue shirt holding a bulging stomach, black trousers, fake Nike shoes, and not properly done tie sufficiently does the job of cracking you up, let alone his acts.

The rich and famous comedian and actor from Obiakpor local government area of Rivers state seems to have it all, but his life wasn’t all rosy in the beginning.

The Tough and Rough Start
Although the 29-year-old self-acclaimed Mayor of PH City has the substance to back up his name, the fame, however, didn’t come easy.

Recounting his days of little beginning, he notes that initially when he started as a standup comedian, he was paid nothing and later received as low as 10,000 for shows.

Sabinus couldn’t afford a good device to shoot his skits when he started, as he made use of an Infinix smartphone which made viewers complain of blurry videos. Having no one to guide him, he navigated the success route alone. His requests for assistance from top South-South celebrities were met with rejection and excommunication, yes, he got blocked, but that didn’t stop the young man who was as hungry as a lion for success.

Sabinus who wasn’t born with a silver spoon spoke of his determination to succeed in an interview.

He said, “I am not from a rich family and my dad doesn’t have a dime. There was no time my father had enough. But I always tell myself that since my dad doesn’t have, I will have. That is why I strive to be successful and to change my family narrative.”

How it all started

Mr Funny discovered his gift very early in life, being funny was inborn. It was his childhood dream to become a comedian, although he never saw it as an avenue to make money but to simply make people laugh.

Celebrities › 10 Red Flags You Shouldn’t Ignore In A Relationship by Blessing28s(op): 6:04pm On Jun 08, 2024
Building a healthy and fulfilling relationship requires mutual respect, trust, and understanding. However, certain warning signs, or “red flags,” can indicate underlying issues that may lead to long-term problems.

Recognizing these red flags early can help you make informed decisions about the future of your relationship.

If you notice any of these warning signs, it’s important to address them early and have honest conversations with your partner. In some cases, seeking the guidance of a therapist or counselor can help navigate these issues. Ultimately, prioritizing your happiness and safety is paramount in any relationship.

Here are 10 red flags to watch out for:
1. Lack of Communication

Effective communication is the foundation of any healthy relationship. If your partner consistently avoids discussing important issues, shuts down during disagreements, or dismisses your feelings, it may indicate a lack of willingness to work through problems together. Healthy relationships thrive on open, honest, and respectful dialogue.

2. Controlling Behaviour

A partner who attempts to control your actions, decisions, or interactions with others can undermine your independence and self-esteem. This behavior can manifest as excessive jealousy, dictating what you wear, who you see, or how you spend your time. Healthy relationships are built on mutual respect and autonomy, not control and manipulation.

3. Disrespect and Criticism

Constant criticism, belittling comments, or outright disrespect are significant red flags. A partner who consistently undermines your self-worth, makes you feel inferior, or dismisses your achievements is not providing the support and encouragement that a healthy relationship requires. Mutual respect is essential for a strong partnership.

4. Lack of Trust

Trust is a cornerstone of any relationship. If your partner is frequently suspicious, accuses you of dishonesty without cause, or invades your privacy by checking your phone or emails, it can erode the foundation of trust. A healthy relationship requires faith in each other’s integrity and intentions.

5. Emotional or Physical Abuse

Any form of abuse, whether emotional, physical, or psychological, is a glaring red flag. Emotional abuse can include manipulation, gaslighting, and coercion, while physical abuse involves any form of violence. These behaviors are unacceptable and harmful. If you experience abuse, seek help and consider leaving the relationship for your safety and well-being.

6. Avoidance of Commitment

If your partner is unwilling to discuss the future, avoids defining the relationship, or consistently evades conversations about commitment, it may indicate a lack of serious intent. While some people take longer to commit, a consistent pattern of avoidance can suggest deeper issues with emotional availability.

Crime › Binance: US Congressmen Seek Biden’s Intervention…here’s What You Need To Know by Blessing28s(op): 6:36pm On Jun 06, 2024
Sixteen Republican congressmen seek US President Joe Biden’s intervention in the Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan case, even as the Federal government insists on Binance’s appearance in court.

The Federal government of Nigeria on Wednesday maintained that Gambaryan had a case to answer in court, despite US lawmakers accusing Nigeria of taking him “hostage” and urging President Joe Biden to help secure his release.

The letter stated that Gambaryan had been unlawfully detained in Abuja since April. It read, “The charges against Mr. Gambaryan are baseless and constitute a coercion tactic by the Nigerian government to extort his employer, Binance,” the lawmakers wrote in the June 4 letter, a copy of which was seen by Bloomberg. “Following these charges, Mr. Gambaryan qualifies as a ‘U.S. citizen wrongfully detained by a foreign government.”

“The faceoff between Africa’s most populous country and the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange burst into view in February, when Nigerian authorities detained Gambaryan and a colleague—who subsequently escaped—during a visit to discuss the company’s compliance issues with the country.

“After two rounds of meetings, which were described as starting professionally and then becoming increasingly hostile, the government of Nigeria took Mr. Gambaryan hostage,” the lawmakers wrote.

This issue of illegal detainment was, however, denied by Nigerian information minister Mohammed Idris.

Idris, in a telephone interview with a news medium, stated, “Nobody is being kept outside our laws and nobody’s life is in danger.” “They have committed a crime,” he added.

Here’s What to know

Nigeria’s financial officials claimed that Binance, which was very popular with Nigerians, had contributed to the local currency’s 68 percent fall against the dollar since foreign exchange rules were eased last year.

Politics › Has Tinubu Re-introduced Fuel Subsidy? Here’s What We Know by Blessing28s(op): 6:27pm On Jun 06, 2024
A debate on whether the subsidy was truly removed or if it is propaganda of the Tinubu administration has ensued after documents showed ₦5.4 trillion proposed subsidy payment surfaced.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who spoke on the issue, expressed his disappointment, stating, “Nigeria is not a working nation.” Recall that on the one-year anniversary of the Tinubu administration, he requested that the government “come clean on the actual position of the subsidy policy.”

Atiku stated, “Like millions of Nigerians, I was shocked to learn through media reports that the government is still supporting downstream consumption.

“Now we know that expenditure on fuel subsidy may reach ₦5.4 trillion in 2024, compared to the ₦3.6 trillion spent in 2023, the same year that Tinubu claimed to have abolished the fuel subsidy.

“I wish to restate that Nigeria is not working, and what we have had in a little over a year is a cocktail of trial-and-error economic policies. Paying subsidies and lying about it is nothing to brag about. Nigerians deserve better than this deception.”

Also joining the conversation, @PIDOMNIGERIA on X stated, “Tinubu is paying 100% subsidy for fuel, yet fuel is still selling between 850/900 naira. Who is taking the balance? Who is subsidizing who?” He further stated, “Pidom is vindicated finally. I saw the classified document where Tinubu personally approved the full payment of fuel subsidy.”

Has Tinubu re-introduced fuel subsidy? Here’s what we know

Tinubu has not reintroduced the subsidy.

In a press statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the news of the government paying for the subsidy despite its stance against it, as declared by President Tinubu on 29th May 2023, was debunked.

Events › World Environment Day: Here’s Why It’s Significant by Blessing28s(op): 12:19am On Jun 06, 2024
Imagine a world without trees, a world where all waters have been polluted, a world taken over by floods as in the days of Noah, a world where the air is unbreathable. In that world, one thing is sure: death is inevitable. These events are linked to one thing: the environment.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in 1973 established June 5th as World Environment Day, the commemoration of which serves as a global platform for environmental outreach.

The theme for 2024 is “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience,” which addresses the issues we currently face in our environment.

In a message on X (formerly Twitter), Wright said, “The state of the planet affects us all – both now and in the future. No matter who and where you are, everyone alive right now has a critical role to play for the future of land.”

Here’s why the World Environment Day is significant

World Environment Day is significant for several reasons:

1. Awareness: WED helps to raise global awareness about environmental issues such as pollution, deforestation, climate change, and biodiversity loss. B

Okoye Ifeanyi Peter, a 200-level student of mass communication at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has won the maiden edition of CrispNG’s maiden campus journalism award.

Peter won the award, which comes with a cash prize of N10,000, with his story on the prevalence of cohabitation across Nigerian tertiary institutions and its attendant dangers for students.

His entry was selected considering its thematic relevance, originality, and depth of field work.

Peter, 19, hails from Anambra state in Nigeria’s south-east, but he’s based in Umuahia, Abia state.

The journalism prize was introduced by CrispNG, a youth-focused media organisation, in February 2024, to motivate students bracing the odds to horn their journalistic skills and prepare them for realities after school.

The maiden edition of the award was sponsored by Okeke Chibueze, the CEO of Gold Leaf ICT centre, also a graduate of UNN.

“I really want to commend the writer’s effort in putting this report together,” Blessing Chukwuneke, CrispNG’s senior correspondent who vetted the articles, said on Peter’s story.

She added: “Other students also did well. I am proud to see the efforts of these student journalists who are combining their studies with the rigours of journalism. I am proud of all of them. My advice to them is that they should keep writing and develop themselves the more.”

Education › Toyin Abraham: The Actress Under Fire For Supporting Tinubu by Blessing28s(op): 11:18am On Jun 05, 2024
Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has come under fire as tweeps question her involvement in the 2023 general election.

Recall that she fervently campaigned for the current president, Bola Tinubu, stating that he had wonderful plans for Nigeria. In one of her tweets, she stated, “For the first time, I met the incoming president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and he shared some of his ideas, visions, and strategies to solve the challenges before us as a nation.”

A X user @stfukhaleed on Tuesday, 4th June tweeted, “One day Toyin Abraham will tell us the great plans Bola Tinubu shared with her.”

This led to a series of backlashes from X users, even verbally attacking her family. Toyin, who threatened to deal with them, was seen in a live video crying about being bullied. She lamented about her family being cursed, saying that tweeps crossed the line.

She said, “Of course, I was told and promised good governance and happiness for everyone, and I believed.

“If things didn’t go well, why do I have to be the one to suffer for it? Because I remember I voted for Jonathan and I was bullied, but I didn’t blame anyone after everyone chose Buhari. So please, why would they be cursing and trolling me every time?

“I have faced my life and career because I am not a politician and I’m not in government. I have learnt my lesson never ever to be open with my choice again.”

Things to know about Toyin Abraham:
