He was born Lawrence Nomanyagbon Anini; but he re-christened himself ANINI THE LAW. He sent fears and chills down the spine of many a Nigerian – particularly residents of Benin city in the old Bendel State!
To underscore his notoriety, especially the embarrassing registration of his presence in the consciousness of Nigerians right up to the Presidency, his dangerous and awe-inspiring exploits compelled then military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, to ask his Inspector General of Police, IGP, Etim Inyang, the very famous question: “My friend, where is Anini”?
Anini The Law, as he was known then, grew larger than life such that the myth woven around him was so deifying that people actually thought he was a god or some type of spirit being that he was imbued with the qualities of omnipotence, omnipresent and omniscience.

He operated a team of just about four to five members. For a skilled taxi driver who was born in a village just some 20kms from the heart of Benin city, Anini became a Capone in his own right at the motor parks; this, after serving time with some leaders of gangs in the underworld.
He was said to have struck a deal with some policemen to help suppress evidence in a case involving some members of his gang but the deal did not yield the desired result.
This, reports had it, led to his anger against the police for betraying him. It is for this reason that Oyakhire and some other very senior police officers had to be drafted to Benin for his case.  So notorious was Anini that even WIKIPEDIA could not but acknowledge that he once existed.
The Free Encyclopedia wrote of him thus:
“Lawrence Nomanyagbon Anini (c. 1960 – March 29, 1987) was a Nigerian bandit who terrorized Benin City in the 1980s along with his sidekick Monday Osunbor. He was captured and executed for his crimes.
“Life
“Anini was born in a village about 20 miles from Benin City in present day Edo State. He migrated to Benin at an early age, learned to drive and became a skilled taxi driver in a few years. He became known in Benin motor parks as a man who could control the varied competing interest among motor park touts and operators.
He later dived into the criminal business in the city and soon became a driver and transporter for gangs, criminal godfathers and thieves. Later on, he decided to create his own gang and they started out as car hijackers, bus robbers and bank thieves. Gradually, he extended his criminal acts to other towns and cities far north and east of Benin.
The complicity of the police is believed to have triggered Anini’s reign of terror in 1986. In early 1986, two members of his gang were tried and prosecuted against an earlier under-the-table bribe induced agreement with the police to destroy evidence against the gang members.
The incident, and Anini’s view of police betrayal, is believed to have spurred retaliatory actions by Anini. On August, 1986, a fatal bank robbery linked to Anini was reported in which a police officer and a child were killed. That same month, two officers on duty were shot at a barricade while trying to stop Anini’s car. During a span of three months, he was known to have killed 9 police officers. He wrote numerous letters to media houses using political tones of Robin Hood-like words to describe his criminal acts.
On December 3, 1986, he was caught at a house off a main street of Benin City in the company of a girl friend. Anini was shot in the leg, transferred to a military hospital, and had one of his legs amputated. The country’s military leader, Babangida, demanded a speedy trial. Anini was convicted of most of his charges and was executed on March 29, 1987; also his friend Monday Osunbor was sentenced to death.

Dubai's 828-meter Burj Khalifa has less than a year left as the world's tallest building.

China's projected 838-meter (2,749 feet) Sky City broke ground in Changsha in central China on July 20.

Astonishingly, the construction company behind it expects to top out in April 2014 -- a build time of just 10 months.

It took five years to build the Burj Khalifa.

Fast construction claims from Broad Group, the Changsha-based construction company in charge of the build, have elicited strong reactions from China's "netizens," as well as experts.

"The speed is horrifying, how can that be possible?" said one user on Weibo, China's Twitter-like service.

Another criticized the liveability of the homes within, calling the project a "giant stack of trailer homes."

But the building would appear to herald a new age in Chinese construction, one in which tall, fast builds become common.

It's already difficult to keep track of China's tallest building announcements.

After the success of his album launch DKM held last month in Lagos, D’banj hasn’t taken any break but hurled himself deeper into work as he is reported to have completed the video shoot of his huge music collaboration ‘Blame it on the money, featuring Snoop Lion in the US.

BENIN CITY-GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Thursday, said he decided to give N100million to market women in the state because they have been crucial to the sustenance of democracy in the state.
The State Government Wednesday gave N100 million revolving, interest-free and non-refundable grant to market women in the state to boost their trade with a call on them to continue to defend democracy and good governance.

Oshiomhole who spoke at a reception organized for him by market women across the state also asked them to forward names of twenty candidates to government for Board appointments.
According to the governor, “next month, the state government will give the market women N100 million and you people know how best to share it to support your business. This money should be rotated amongst yourselves and you do not have to pay back to the government. 
Also forward twenty names to the Chief of Staff, we will put them in various boards under Edo State government because this government is your own and you must participate in it.
“As our mothers and sisters, individually and collectively you carry our message of hope across the 192 wards, you canvassed for support, enlightened the people on what we are doing right and even with the promise to do more and at the end of the day the people listened, they voted and ACN won 18 over 18. You did it before and you have done it again on the basis of what is good for the Edo people,” he noted.
The Governor noted, “I like having meetings in this hall just to remind us of what has changed, how we can build a new world from the ashes of the old that we can now have a beautiful hall for a secondary school and from Edo North, Edo Central, Edo South we are building schools, so that your children, the child of a market woman will have every reason to look forward to a decent school. 
Never again will the Edo child be taught in a class without roof or even without teachers.
“I am very appreciative and even committed along with members of my cabinet, we are clear that we are here only because you are here. we are a passing phase you are a permanent force, we have shown that a state can work when those in government recognize that the power that they exercise belong to the people and the power is exercised solely on their behalf and no government is legitimate if its actions are not informed by the greatest good for the greatest number of her citizens.
“We have shown that the performance of  a government is not necessarily determined by the amount of oil money we get every month from Abuja. we have shown that we can look inward and reinvent our state, reposition it on the path of sustainable development, we are proud to say that there is no local government that people can not point at what has changed and even what is changing and promise what is still going to change and with you by our side we can not be afraid,” he noted.
The Governor urged the women to “defend the gains of good governance, to defend democracy because it is the only form of government that gives the market woman power to hire and fire, that power you must retain and use it judiciously and to insist that beyond election day the governor and the governed must meet eye ball to eye ball to give account and that is the gain of democracy.
“You must have the confidence to talk to your governor the way you talk to your husband or your son so that never again are we going to have a graveyard silence in Edo state. As Nigeria moves, the Edo woman must be counted on the side of democratic forces,” he added.
Earlier, the Secretary General of the Edo State Market Women Association, Mrs. Blackie Omoregie  said the forum was to congratulate the governor for the victory in the governorship election and commend him for his developmental efforts.
“We like to bring to your notice the inability of  previous  governments to grant interest free-loans to  market women. We shall be most grateful if your administration can rescue us in this direction,” she added

Kingsley Okonkwo started like every other upcoming act in Nigeria - the hard way. In the early 2000s, he met with former partner Presh (Precious John) in a church choir.

They met up with a third member, named the group KC Presh and released their first single 'Ose baba', shot a video for it, receiving mild success.

Partying ways with the third member in 2002, the duo entered the first ever edition of Nigerian Breweries STAR QUEST talent show and won, beating the likes of Asa, Psquare, Klint da Drunk, Mr Raw (formerly known as Nigga Raw). As part of the spoils, KC Presh signed a deal with Kennis Music (the biggest record label in Nigeria at the time) and made a big debut.

During their time at Kennis, KC Presh never attained super status, it always seemed like they were one hit away. They soon parted ways with the label and set up shop on their own with KP Records.

Their first installment was the OJB assisted 'Segemenge' off the album 'Sio Nkpo' which bagged them a Channel O nomination and more fame. But while the likes of D'banj and the Mo'Hits were flying high with chart topping singles and back-to-back hits, KC Presh struggled with their careers.

They tried once again with KCEE's wealthy brother intervening - they restructured, re-launched the label as 'Blingz Record', affiliated with Grafton Records in the South and released a new album 'No Time' with the lead single 'Shokori bobo'. All this however did not result in mega success, in fact the duo's careers' imploded.

How KCEE got his groove back

After several attempts to stage a comeback, the duo eventually split on good terms but they continued to stay in the same house for months. That separation seemed to be the break for KCEE who immediately put in work releasing his debut single 'Now I know'.

He took it from there with bigger hits 'Okpekete' (with Davido), 'Give it to me' (feat Flavour) all under his new label Five Star Music. The signs were there but it was the huge hit 'Limpopo' that shattered all barriers and planted him as a bona fide hit-maker and music star.

Written by R&B singer Harrysong and produced by Del B, the song has turned a once undesired KCEE into a fans' favourite, darling of promoters. That single hit has ushered him into the A list, with an MTN endorsement deal as icing.

The story here is not KCEE's new cars (thanks to his bigger brother, he's always lived a very posh lifestyle) but his struggle and eventual breakthrough.
