A bloody clash was averted on Saturday by the police in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, following failed attempts by a former militant leader and Niger Delta activist, Asari Dokubo, to hold an expanded inaugural meeting in support of Biafra.

It was gathered that the Chairman of Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Central Zone, Kennedy Olorogun, got wind of the Biafran meeting and mobilized his executive council members and other youths to the venue of the gathering.

Olorogun was said to be angry that Dokubo chose Bayelsa, a homogeneous Ijaw state, to hold such meeting and ordered the founder of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF) to leave the state or face the wrath of the youths.

It was learnt that Dokubo, who recently declared his support for the actualisation of Biafra, gathered over 300 persons from across the states in the South-East and South-South to hold the meeting.

The meeting was reportedly convened under the auspices of the Biafra National Council (BNC) and not the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Confirming the development, Olorogun said over 300 persons including Dokubo were already gathered at a hotel in Yenagoa when he led Ijaw youths to the place.

He said quarrel ensued between him and Dokubo when he told the former militant leader that the meeting would not hold in Ijawland.

“When we got the information, we stormed the venue of the meeting to stop them.

“They tried to resist us but we told them we were prepared for them because we will not allow any part of Bayelsa to be used for a meeting calling for the actualisation of Biafra.

“I wonder why Dokubo decided to bring such meeting to Bayelsa. But we stopped them.

Founder of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has debunked a viral social media report that he prophesied doom in Aso Rock on October 1st.

According to anaedonline,The fiery priest, who made this known in a statement made available to pressmen, disclosed that it is the handiwork of his enemies.

Recall that the story titled; Mbaka releases dangerous to prophesy, says God is angry with Buhari” was published on Friday, 9th of August.

Debunking the statement, Mbaka opined: “Please fellow children of God, help me to tell the world that, I Rev Fr Mbaka Ejike Camillus never prophesied anything about 1st October.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has ordered traveling officers and men to wear plain clothes [mufti] while traveling across Nigeria.

This is as Buratai accused the Force Headquarters of making “inciting and inflammatory comments” following soldiers’ killing of three policemen and a civilian in Taraba after they had effected the arrest of a notorious kidnap kingpin, Alhaji Hamisu Bala Wadume, who is now on the run.

Buratai’s order which leaked to the media on Monday was contained in a circular with reference number: AHQDAIOPS/G3/240/232, and copied to Army formations nationwide.

According to New Telegraph, the letter signed by Brig. Gen. F. Omoigui, on behalf of the COAS, was entitled: “Need for troops to be circumspect in dealing with members of the Nigeria Police.”

Buratai directed soldiers on internal security (IS) operations across the country to be circumspect, alerting of the likelihood of aggression towards troops by police personnel.

He said Police statements and reactions had the potential of forcing the rank and file of its personnel to “exhibit aggressive tendencies against NA (Nigerian Army) personnel.”.

Buratai, in the circular, told soldiers to travel in mufti to avoid possible attacks by policemen, which he argued, may be occasioned by the Police’s comments on both social and traditional media.

Soldiers of the 93 Battalion had shot d**d the IRT operatives – Inspector Mark Ediale, Sergeant Usman Danzumi, and Sergeant Dahiru Musa.

The Army claimed they were shot after being mistaken for “suspected kidnappers”.

Firing back, Force spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, in a strongly-worded statement, said: “The most important question arising from the Nigerian Army Press Release is: Where is Alhaji Hamisu Bala Wadume? Alhaji Hamisu Bala Wadume is a millionaire kidnapper arrested by the Police but paradoxically treated as a ‘‘kidnap victim’’ by the Soldiers and subsequently ‘rescued’ by them. Where is he? Where is the rescued kidnapper?

“Secondly, the Press Release was silent on the source of the alleged distress report or identity of the complainant, on the strength of whose report, the Army claimed had informed their decision to engage in the purported chase and rescue operation. Needless to state that in the true spirit of transparency and accountability, the Nigerian Army ought to have arrested the purported distress caller – if any – for obviously and deliberately furnishing them with false and misleading information. Besides, such arrest should in fact be made public!

Pastor Isaac Pada of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Lugbe, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has raised the alarm over the disappearance of his wife and four children.

Pada told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja that the incident happened at Lugbe on July 30, while he had gone to work.

He explained that his wife, Precious and four children, Pearl, 8, Pathnel, 6, Pamebelo, 3 and Peace, 7 months were at home at the time he left for work.

Pada said when he returned home at about 8.22 pm on the same day, his wife and the children had gone missing.

“Every effort I have made to reach my wife has yielded no result as her phone is switched off and her family members and relatives I contacted said they did not know her whereabouts.

Only N2,160,000 is all that is standing between a boy born without manhood and his chance of having one.

Seven-year-old Temitope Apanisile, who hails from Ekiti State, has been battling with bladder problems since birth.

He cannot control his urine and has been on dapper since birth.

His father, Olawale, took him to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, where he was operated twice, but the problem persisted. After raising money for the boy, through The Nation, he took him to SCI International Hospital, India, for the third surgery.

Temitope’s manhood is now out a little, but he requires another surgery to complete the process.

A letter by the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Himanshu Shekhar, said the boy must do another surgery to complete the process and normalise the manhood to control urine.

Temitope is expected back in India on October 21 for the last phase of the surgery.



He was diagnosed with extrophy and epispadias and is to be treated for Final Bladder Neck Repair.

The father said: “I don’t have any means to meet the financial demands. My son needs N2,160,000 to do the surgery in India, which covers room charges for the specified period, surgeon’s fees, OT charges, anaesthetist charges, stay of one attendant, patient’s diet, medicines, consumables, pre-anaesthetic check-up and pick up and drop from the airport.”

Apamisile, who was at The Nation head office at Matori, Lagos, yesterday said the surgery would enable his son comfortably pass urine and he would no longer use the dapper, which he has been using since birth.

He said: “If I don’t get support from people, it is likely the boy has 25 per cent chance of surviving.

“In the last seven years, over N10 million has been spent on his bladder. He has suffered right from when he was a baby till now. His mother has left me, abandoning him. She has remarried.

“I’m appealing to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other Nigerians to save my son. I have spent my life savings on him. I’ve sold my house, sold my belongings. I am a bricklayer but I had to stop working to take care of him. Tope is intelligent. I don’t want him to die. I am begging everybody to help me so that he will live.”

According to reports, President Buhari has said that his government through its National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), has in three years, lifted no fewer than 5 million Nigerians out of extreme poverty.

The president made this known at the opening of the Global Youth Employment Forum of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Abuja today Thursday August 1st.

Represented at the occasion by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, President Buhari commended the ILO for committing itself to youth employment. He also disclosed that the Federal government has since its incception in 2015, created over 2 million direct and indirect job opportunities.



“We note at this point that the issue of youth unemployment has assumed a global significant, and on the front burner of development discourse. The government of Nigeria understands the need to focus attention on youth empowerment by creating the enabling environment for job opportunities and capacity building. The present administration from the onset, made the investment in our people, one of the key goals of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, which is the national development blueprint from the period of 2017 to 2020.

“The implementation of the plan also has the flagship programme such as the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP). It has yielded some measurable outcomes in the form of increased school enrolment and the creation of more jobs. One of the key components of the NSIP is the N-Power programme and its sub-components has led to the creation of job opportunities in different sectors of the economy for young persons.

“For example, in the past three years, the programme has yielded over 2 million direct and indirect employment opportunities and has lifted over 5 million Nigerians out of extreme poverty. In addition to this achievement, some sectors of the economy with high propensity for massive job creation and employment generation were specifically target by the government for various forms of suppor” he said

Immediate past Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has accused the incumbent Governor, Emeka Ihedioha of going all out to destroy his legacy in the state.

Okorocha was reacting to the take over of the Eastern Palm University, Ogboko by the state government.

In a statement issued in Owerri by his media aide, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha said that the committee had no right to scrap the universities and polytechnics he established while he was the governor of the state.

The statement said going by the nomenclature and task given to the Committee, which is Committee on the review of Newly Established Tertiary Institutions”, the Chairman, Prof. Njoku exceeded the job of the Committee by announcing the immediate takeover of the Eastern Palm University and scrapping all the tertiary institutions built by Okorocha.

A 3-year-old boy from south-west China was miraculously saved after he fell from a six-storey building.

The child was filmed desperately clinging onto a balcony of a building in Chongqing city’s Jiulongpo district on Monday afternoon, July 29.

Fortunately, residents noticed him and rallied around to save him. Some of the neighbours stood under him and waited to catch him if he falls.

The child eventually got tired of holding on and he lost his grip and fell. Thankfully, the neighbours spread two large blankets below him and caught him before he could hit the ground. The child escaped unhurt.

It has now been revealed that the boy had been home alone and woke up from a nap to find out his grandmother wasn’t home. According to Shangyou News, she had gone out to get groceries but the child didn’t know this so he began looking for her. His search led him to climb on top of a sink on his balcony and tumbled over the glass railing, leaving him clinging on for his dear life.

Video filmed by neighbour Mr Liu shows the child kicking his legs and desperately trying to pull himself up.

A security guard of the residential district told video news site Pear that the child had been holding on for nearly four minutes before letting go.

The grandmother later arrived and took the boy home and his parents later took him to hospital.

President Buhari’s Chief of Staff (CoS) Abba Kyari in his testimony at the Presidential tribunal on Tuesday July 30, alleged that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar wasn’t born a Nigerian.

Abba Kyari was one of the three witnesses called in by President Buhari’s legal team led by Wole Olanipekun (SAN) after they tendered 26 sets of documents. Giving his testimony after the PDP and Atiku closed their case on July 19 after calling in 62 witnesses, the CoS said Jada area of Adamawa State was still part of Northern Cameroon and referred to as French Cameroons as at November 25, 1946 when Atiku claimed that he was born.

CoS Abba Kyari maintained that Atiku’s parents also qualified to be Cameroonians and further added that every child born in Jada and to Jada parents were automatically citizens of Cameroon by the French policy of assimilation and before the 1961 plebiscite was conducted.

However under cross-examination by Atiku’s lead counsel Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), Kyari confirmed that Atiku was vice president for eight years and also contested to be the presidential candidate of the APC in 2014. The CoS who said he is from Borno but not a Cameroonian also admitted not knowing Atiku’s grandfather and father even though he is 67 years old.

The hearing was adjourned till today July 31, at the conclusion of Kyari’s testimony.

THE JOURNEY TO TECHNOLOGICAL GROWTH AND INNOVATIONS IN THE PETROLEUM UPSTREAM SECTOR BEGINS.

It is with utmost humility and a great sense of responsibility that I write to express my profound gratitude on my appointment as the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Upstream) under the Chairmanship of Senator Bassey Akpan of Akwa Ibom North.

The Upstream Petroleum Sector is a value chain which comprises of oil exploration, drilling, production and development. As a first term and the only YPP Senator, it is deeply humbling to be accorded the privilege of being the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee that is saddled with the task of overseeing the upstream sector of the Oil industry which is the mainstay of Nigeria’s economy. I am indeed, most thankful and full of praises to Almighty God for granting me this rare opportunity to contribute to the growth of our Nation’s economy.

I cannot fail to mention and appreciate the Senate President; His Excellency, Senator Ahmad Lawan for finding me worthy of this appointment irrespective of the fact that I am a first term Senator. This goes a long way in showing the confidence reposed on me and the prayers of my constituents. With an unswerving resolve to honor that trust, I humbly accept the appointment and pledge to bring my wealth of experience in the Oil Sector to bear in the discharge of my duties. I also thank the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo Agege for his unstinted cooperation and support which is a clear indication of his trust in my capacity.

The task ahead is an enormous one, nonetheless, I have no doubts that it is embraceable and surmountable. I am also fully aware that the Nigerian Petroleum Upstream Sector always comes with a number of challenges, and a key success factor is always the willingness of all parties involved to cooperate, address these challenges and leave a positive mark.

As we gallantly march into the next legislative phase, my goal is to enhance and help strengthen infrastructure, accountancy and drive innovation in Crude oil drilling/production, refining, exportation, trading as well as interface with multi national companies involved in Oil trade. With the cooperation of the NNPC and other related agencies, I cannot help but brim with confidence that working together; we can achieve a better tomorrow and innovations in the Upstream Sector.

Conclusively, I thank my family, friends and supporters who have shown enormous support through their good words and unwavering confidence in me. I urge all hands to remain on deck as we work towards achieving unprecedented milestones in the Petroleum Upstream sector.

I want to reassure all my supporters that my priority will always be to work for the betterment of public interest through robust, effective and detailed legislation and oversight to ensure that my people derive the dividends of democracy.

The police in Lagos State have arrested two tenants suspected to have killed their landlord, dumped his body in a well and stole his car.

The tragic incident occurred on 24th July, 2019 at about 5.00am, at Iba area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

A statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, on Sunday said policemen from Iba Police Station, on stop and search duty at First gate, Agboroko area, Iba flagged down a Toyota Camry which was driven in a reckless and suspicious manner, by “two suspects namely Daniel Isaac ‘m’ 38 years old and Emmanuel Chukwu ‘m’ 36 years old.

Further investigation revealed that the first suspect, Daniel Isaac killed his Landlord, Don Able ‘m’ 50 years old from Rivers State and dumped the corpse in a well, inside his compound at Owodun Street Area, Ikotun. The suspect was escaping with the robbed vehicle of the deceased along with his accomplice Emmanuel Chukwu, when they were intercepted.

“Their intentions were to go and sell the car. They confessed to the Commission of the Crime. Homicide detectives from State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba are investigating the case. Suspect will be charged to Court,” he said.

He also stated that in a related development on July 24 at about 11.15a.m., the Satellite Police Station received an information from a credible source.

The statement quoted the source as saying that a bag containing a suspicious item was smuggled into a bus at a motor park for transportation to Onitsha in Anambra by some unknown persons.

Based on the information, the Divisional Police Officer, DSP Chike Oti, was said to have deployed his surveillance team to motor parks at Maza Maza area to recover the bag.

Upon searching the bag, 50 rounds of 38mm live ammunition hidden inside a sack containing ‘garri’ was recovered.

A near-mishap was recorded today at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, as a plane ‘crash-landed’ today at the facility.



The travelers reportedly survived the incident due to the expertise of the female pilot, but the plane lost its tyres after crash-landing. It was further gathered that the emergency rescue came 52 minutes after the incident occurred.

As we arrived Lagos on @flyairpeace , the pilot (she was a woman, I was so proud) announced that we will be landing at international tarmac because of visibility issues. The sleep wey bin dey my eyes, auto cleared.

Some minutes later, seems the plane started nose diving on a fast track. And she in her expertise applied control. Then… Next… It picked up a speed and bang!!! bang!!!!!

We dropped from the sky to the hard ground. And the ceiling of the plan dropped. Children crying. People screaming Blood of Jesus! Some screaming my Mummy. It was hard! My life flashed before me….

Then the pilot informed that she can’t estimate the damage, however, that the plane lost its both tyres. That she had signaled for an evacuation. She kept working hard, though unsuccessfully, to calm agitated

They said they are awaiting tow truck to tow us from international tarmac to local
.
I got my bag, had my inhaler handy… And we awaited emergency rescue.

TheY came 52 MINUTES Later (Nigeria’s emergency response time)… We for don burn finish if not for God! . . . .
Praise God for Us… He averted what could have been a tragic plane crash.

It was gathered that one hausa man was asked to remove dirty water from a soakaway pit, But he ignorantly took the generator set with him inside the pit and switched it on, then tragedy occurred!..

An estimated three thousand two hundred and one persons were affected directly by flood and windstorm in 21 communities of 6 local governments Areas of Zamfara State.

This was revealed to the Nation by the Executive Secretary, Zamfara State Emergency Management Agency ZEMA, Eng. Sunusi Muhammad Kwatarkwashi.

Kwatarkwashi disclosed that 4 persons were killed by the disaster including a policeman and an army officer from the 6th of June to 17th July this year.

Type of disaster on properties of the people according to him include building collapse, roofs blown up and ransacking of residents from their residential houses and other major and minor disaster.

According to reports, at least 4 persons suffered varying degrees of injuries when an unnamed quarry site suddenly caved in on workers in Ibadan on Monday afternoon.

The unnamed quarry site located around Camp Area, Gbopa, Ologuneru, Ido local government, Ibadan, Oyo state capital city is said to be manned by unknown workers.

Eye witness reports say the workers had reported for duties with trucks scrapping ‘filler sand’ when heap of sand collapsed on the workers suddenly. Passersby who noticed the scene quickly stormed the site in rescue effort while those rescued were said to have been rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, in a patrol van belonging to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).



It was gathered that the site which had become a beehive of activities for local miners and some traders was thrown into mourning when the alarm of the incident went round.

An officer of the FRSC, Oyo State Command, who was at the scene also noted that the patrol van had to support the rescue effort when a distress call was placed on the officers on patrol within the vicinity by conveying the injured victims from the scene to the UCH for treatment.
