Picture shows A battered Tokunbo (an indication of domestic abuse on the part of Hon Dino Malaye) Tokunbo Melaye's family have responded to Dino Malaye's Claims which went viral a few days ago. On the 18th of December, Mr. Gbenga (Dino) Melaye released a statement through a certain Toyin Akande (Esq), addressing the divorce proceedings filed by Tokunbo Melaye (nee Fabiyi). Mr. Akande is purportedly a lawyer and a family friend. Tokunbo, who was Mr. Melaye’s wife for over a decade is not aware of any family friend or lawyer who bears this name. The statement that was released on Mr. Melaye’s behalf was filled with malicious falsehoods aimed at deflecting attention from the very serious allegations of physical assault, psychological abuse and emotional trauma that Dino Melaye has inflicted on Tokunbo over the last decade. Our preference as a family has always been for this issue to have been maintained as a private matter because of the three wonderful children that Tokunbo and Dino had together. Since Mr. Melaye has chosen to publicly malign Tokunbo’s image, and to impugn her character, we are constrained to respond to his recent statement, so that our silence is not construed to be consent. We are aware that Mr. Melaye is a master of manipulation, and is extremely adept at using the press to his own advantage. For far too long, his deceptions have been allowed to go unchallenged by the Nigerian press. For over a decade, Mr. Melaye has muzzled Tokunbo’s voice. But truth is a persistent flame that cannot be forever extinguished. Tokunbo is not one of the numerous women of easy virtue that are Mr. Melaye’s stock in trade. Neither is she one of the government officials that Mr. Melaye regularly harangues for his own gain. Tokunbo is a loving mother of three lovely children, and she was until September 25th, 2013 a dutiful wife to Mr. Melaye. But during the contest on the streets of the Argentinian capital, he realised the number 59 bus had no chance so he did not bother to ramp up his performance to full sprint mode. Bolt, who won the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay golds in two consecutive Olympics - Beijing 2008 and London 2012 - said he has set his sights on winning a third time in Rio in 2016. by: toyinaspirekomolafe..com The first wife of the former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo has broken it in spectacular style with a tell-all autobiography, Bitter-Sweet: My Life with Obasanjo. The author paints a portrait of her husband as a vindictive "master of decoy", a "violent and unrepentant wife-basher", and a man whose "womanising knows no bounds". It couldn't come at a worse time for the 72-year-old Mr Obasanjo who has been busily building a new profile for himself as a pan-African statesman second only to Kofi Annan. What ensues is an almost slapstick riot of affairs and breathless high politics punctuated with domestic violence and desperation. And it's one in which Mama Iyabo is happy to name names. In the early 1970s her particular nemesis was an older married woman called Mowo Sofowora. One evening, she recalls: "I was eavesdropping on the phone downstairs while Obasanjo was in the bedroom. They had spoken for about 30 minutes when she then said she was having a headache. I had heard enough, so I butted in: 'It's that headache that will kill you, shameless married woman dating a younger man'. On hearing my voice, Obasanjo charged downstairs to beat me and we had one of the many fights that had come to define our marriage." On another occasion Oluremi Obasanjo, now pregnant, was surprised to hear a nurse at the hospital announcing that Mrs Obasanjo was coming in with her sick children. "Lo and behold, she [Mowo] soon appeared with Busola and Segun, my children. I removed my head tie ... and lunged at her. 'Mowo, Oko ni o gba, o le gba omo mi,' I screamed, meaning: 'You may snatch my husband you can't snatch my kids.' I slapped and punched her. It was a spectacle. The hospital was turned upside down. I ran after the car that brought her, smashed the side glass." Surprisingly she reserves no particular ire for Stella Adebe-Obasanjo, who would go on to be the general's third and most notorious wife, eventually dying while undergoing liposuction in Spain. She describes Stella as just another in "the stable of Obasanjo's many ponies. Her problem was that she was too showy and lacked self respect. During our tempest, she would telephone me to announce that she was in complete control of my husband." In addition to the string of affairs, including one with a wife of another Big Man, the Nigerian dictator Sani Abacha, she reveals an extraordinary fallout with Murtala Muhammed, the brigadier he would later succeed in 1976 as military ruler of Nigeria. Muhammed's mistake was to reprimand him over his treatment of his wife: "Obasanjo was enraged that Muhammed was telling him how to take care of his wife. So, he grabbed Muhammed by the collar, in the presence of other officers, and challenged him to a duel." The final word of course should go to Mama Iyabo, who says that it's about time more people followed her lead: "The public deserves to know a lot more about the experiences of public figures beyond the advertised public appearances they see. If my work has succeeded in doing so, we should look at it as expanding the democratic frontiers of free flow of information. Nigeria and Nigerians need to shed the culture of undue secrecy about public figures and public affairs." Gripping and racy, it is a story you may not put down until you get to the last page. It is a worthy addition to the growing literature of adventures in power.

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, on Monday kicked against the Presidency’s threat to charge some members of the All Progressives Congress with treason. The President, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, had on Sunday said that those “threatening fire and brimstone” and calling for his removal should be ready to face charges for treason. Almost immediately, the Special Assistant to the President on New Media, Reno Omokri, as if to affirm’s the Presidency’s position, went on Twitter to describe members of the APC as ‘desperadoes’. Omokri tweeted, “The desperadoes in the APC are advised to focus on selling themselves to Nigerians rather than raising false alarm. Whether the APC likes it or not, the President will continue to revive the railways, power and the economy, even in their states. “President Jonathan was elected by the Nigerian electorate and the APC cannot get from the back door what the electorate denied them. The APC’s era of politics with bitterness is long gone. We are in an era of politics without ‘betterness’ which President Jonathan personifies.” Responding to the comments, Fani-Kayode, a member of the APC and an ardent critic of Jonathan on social media, says he is waiting to be charged with treason as threatened by the Presidency. “GEJ has threatened the leaders of the APC with treason for calling on the National Assembly to impeach him (Jonathan). I dare the President to carry out his threat,” he wrote in a message posted on Twitter. But another critic of the President, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and Deputy National Secretary of the APC, Mallam Nasir EL-Rufai, has yet to respond to the threat. Meanwhile, some Nigerians have urged Jonathan not to plunge the nation into a fresh crisis by clamping down on the critics of his administration. They argued that calls for the removal of the President in a democracy, where citizens have the constitutional right to do so, should not result in charges for treason. Writing on Abati’s website, www.reubenabti.com.ng, one Magaji described the threat as a subtle way of intimidating the masses and preventing them from expressing their opinion about the Jonathan administration. “No meaningful Nigerian will believe that Jonathan is running a peoples government. What is the illegality of impeachment that warrants a threat with treason? Perhaps you are ignorant of Nigeria’s supreme law – the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “Jonathan is one of the worst presidents we ever have in the history of this nation. Come 2015, he will surely see the result of his leadership. “It is time for the President to stop treating people as second class citizens. We are all equal in eyes of the law and the privilege of ruling this nation is not a license to oppress,” Magaji wrote. In another message posted on Twitter, Dare Taiwo warned that a clampdown on people calling for the impeachment of the President will amount to a repression of the freedom of speech. Arguing that comments attributed to the Presidency were increasingly becoming pedestrian, Taiwo said, “Treason? Do you (Presidency) know how many times the Tea Party and Rush Limbaugh (conservative American radio talk show host and political commentator) have called for the impeachment of American President, Barack Obama? “Get enlightened! You need to stop responding to asinine comments. Comments like this make you guys in Aso Rock sound pedestrian.” Also, Muhuyi Magaji said it was wrong on the part of Jonathan or his advisers to equate calls for his impeachment with treason. He advised the President to study the democratic history and the constitution of the country well before allowing himself to be misled into fulfilling his threat. “Impeachment Is not equal to treason. Not even during the stormy days of the Olusegun Obasanjo administration did the Presidency equate the several calls for Impeachment and removal from office as treason,” Magaji said. In a single tweet to Abati, one Aminu Ayama, laments that his interpretation of the Presidency’s threat is that “treason is translated into going against the wish of the President under the current so-called democratic leadership.” Source: PunchNG http://toyinaspirekomolafe..com

I actually got the news since yesterday but was waiting for evidence. ASUU strike is over and we all can go back to school. Here is a report according to SAHARA REPORTERS The Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) has officially suspended it five months old industrial action action starting from today. The union took the decision after a marathon meeting in Minna, Niger State. The decision to end the protracted industrial action was taken after ASUU signed a new agreement with the federal government on December 11 2013. ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Fagge told SaharaReporters shortly before commencing a press conference in Minna that ASUU has concluded its National Executive Council meeting and accordingly decided to suspend the strike. http://toyinaspirekomolafe..com/2013/12/ASUU-strike-officially-ends.html |
Bianca Ojukwu in a new interview with SunNews addressed the claims by some members of her late husband’s family that he did not actually marry her. She said: I think that is laughable because my marriage first and foremost, which took place at Our Lady’s Queen of Nigeria Catholic Church in Abuja, was a celebrated ceremony with ‘who is who in Nigeria’ in attendance. The reception was at the Hilton. In fact, it had a glittering galaxy of Nigerians, most of them are still alive today. And what is interesting about this ridiculous assertion is that those that are making the assertion or asking me to bring proof of my marriage with their brother were present at the wedding in Abuja, and present at the wine-carrying at Ngwo, and even dressed in the uniform depicting their family outing. All the pictures are there to prove it, the video is there to prove it, you can look at the pictures yourself. Look at this picture, you can see Senator Pius Anyim, you can see Governor Rochas Okorocha, all of them came to Ngwo. So, for people to wake up and start suffering from selective amnesia just because there are cases in court where property and who gets what is concerned is ridiculous. The fact remains that I was married to their brother at the registry, at the church and traditionally in my father’s compound. I remain the only woman that Ikemba married or went through these three forms of marriages with, I’m the only one, and it is on record. Therefore, for them to wake up and decide that what happened never happened, I believe it is really unfortunate for them because there is no iota of truth in that assertion and it does not depict them in favorable light because they were there. http://toyinaspirekomolafe..com/

Remember Dino Malaye? The politician who is said to be responsible for Actress Bisi Ibidapo's 1 year old daughter. Though he has denied paternity of the child, the little girl and the mum are doing very well. Well the latest is culled from Stella Dimokokorkus's blog. Please read and be amazed: Things have fallen apart in the home of controversial Kogi state ex law maker Dino Melaye, his 10year old marriage has crashed like a pack of cards and Tokunbo his wife and mother of his three kids has taken to her heels filing for divorce in the process. According to STELLADIMOKOKORKUS.COM sources ''the drama between Dino and his wife will take a full week to narrate. They had a lot of problems and each time they had an argument be sure that his wife would end up in hospital being treated for injuries of all kinds. She was a punching bag. Aside from allegedly sleeping with his house girl, which was one of the major problems, there are also confirmed whispers that sometimes when Tokunbo went to work he removed her pix from the house walls and brought in different women in their matrimonial bed telling them his wife had died, and even getting the domestic staff to say their madam was resting with the Lord''. The insiders continue - ''for the past 9yrs, Dino has been beating his wife to the point that there are police records stating some reported instances, she was five months pregnant with her second son when the beatings began, and it got worse. she was rushed to Zanlin hospital in 2005 at exactly 10pm, and was treated for injuries on head. He hit her with an iron rod. In October 2010, she was rushed to Wuse general hospital by the police themselves after she ran in her bloodied nightgown with deep cuts on her arms. The report says Dino used a plank to flog her aiming for the head but she used her arms to protect herself and ended up with deep deep cuts that needed emergency room attention. On September 25, 2013 Tokunbo and Dino had an argument and he pulled a silver pistol to her head and was seconds away from pulling the rigger when his ringing phone distracted him. She took off leaving behind her shoes. She has filed for divorce and wants custody of the kids but she has not been allowed to see them or have any contact with them. THE DAY DINO ALLEGEDLY PULLED A GUN ON HIS WIFE TOKUNBO Insiders say on that September 25th morning, the altercation which led to Dino pulling out his gun had to do with a dressing gown in the wardrobe belonging to Dino. His wife attempted to put it on and the law maker refused telling her that all the dressing gowns and perfumes he had were gifts from his girlfriends and he did not buy them with money. Tokunbo allegedly retorted by saying she could as well accept gift from male friends and Dino exploded accusing his wife of referring to her ex boyfriend and asking her to leave his house. He pointed a gun to her head and the drama ended with the wife running to the police station to report to the commissioner of police and escorted back to the house with five policemen who came to search for the gun with a warrant of arrest. Dino was invited to the police headquarters and the same warrant of arrest later surfaced online claiming he had been arrested because of the Stella Oduah corruption case he was previously arrested for. ''Stella, can you believe that Dino sacked three of his domestic staff because they were updating Madam on the whereabouts and well being of her three children but were later quoted as being nine domestic staff sacked for being security risks?Dino has over 10 cars but if he has small issues with his wife,he seizes all the car keys and forces her to either trek or take public transport.if she returns home anyway after 7pm,she must sleep outside the gate till he returns home by 1am his usual time and when he gets back, just know that there is fire on the mountain''. Different versions on why the marriage crashed has also emerged from the camp of Dino. The first version is that ''he caught her twice with her ex, he warned her the first time but divorced her when he caught her again'' The second whispers is that ''he caught her whispering on the phone with her ex and he asked her why she was talking to him and she shouted at him that she would not only speak with him but would f#*k him as well''. The third version is that ''Tokunbo allegedly collected money from Stella oduah and planted cocaine in the house and then went to report to police to search the house. Some say it was cocaine she planted, others say it was guns'' Concerned friends of both couple are running helper skelter to ensure that they settle well and the kids returned to their mother who is presently living alone. FIDA, an international body for female lawyers has also been brought into the matter to fight for the rights of the estranged Mrs Melaye who in her divorce petition is asking for full custody of the three children who have been seized from her. In an interview with First Weekly, Yetunde Akilapa, an actress who was sent to jail for wrong accusation of theft and was later discharged and acquitted in court for lack of evidence opens up on her tragic experience. There is a rumour that you were set up by your friends, how true is this? Yes, it’s true. Some of my friends set me up. Why did they do that to you? Let me narrate everything to you from the beginning. I am into business, I sell weave-ons. I learnt hairdressing before joining acting, it was just that I had no time for the business because of my acting career. I used to have a salon at Bariga area of Lagos State, but I left the place for a friend, Titi, who is a cousin to my boyfriend, Wale. The only thing I didn’t give her was the weave-ons in the shop. I told her to sell them, and that she should give the money to my younger sister, who lives near the shop. However, she refused to deliver the money she made from the sales to my sister. I later went there to pick up all my things in the shop and requested for my money. To my surprise, she claimed that there was no money with her because a lot of people owed her. An argument ensued between her and my sister, which resulted into a fight during which she stabbed my sister. I reported the matter to the police, who arrested and detained her. Her cousin, who was my boyfriend, and others were against me over the action and pleaded with me to withdraw the case from the police, which I later did. So, how did the set up happen? There was a woman I met at Next Salon at Akoka, Lagos, who liked what I sell. I told her I could do home delivery. We exchanged numbers and she gave me her address. She stays at Fola Agoro, which is near my place at Bariga all in Lagos. Most times when she calls me to deliver some weave-ons for her at home, I would either at locations or busy with something else. I later tried to call her on the phone, but it was not going through. One day, I decided to visit her at home. On getting to the place she gave as her residence, the place was quiet as I didn’t see anyone outside. It is a block of six flats at Fola Agoro. I knocked a door and someone came out to attend to me. Bu,t when I asked to see the woman, who told me she is called Mama Ayo, the lady that attended to me claimed there was nobody like that in the place. The woman thereafter called other tenants and accused me of being an informant because she said they had robbed the house in December 2012, and this incident happened in March. Before I could say Jack Robinson, they started shouting at me. I told them I was an actress, but nobody listened to me. They ransacked me and found a bunch of keys on me, which has about 15-20 keys. They claimed they were master keys I used for robbery. Even when an actress friend of mine, Queen Oluwa, called my phone when I was there, they claimed she was trying to know how successful my surveillance was. They later took me to the police station and I was detained. My boyfriend and his cousin later got to know about my ordeal They later testified at the police station that I was an actress and a bail was to be arranged for me to get out of the station. They were always outside, whenever they came and I thought they were discussing how I would get out of the station. On a particular day, when of my accusers came to the police station as directed by the police, he was surprised that I slept over at the station. He told my sister that he had informed the police that I should be released since it was confirmed that I was an actress and not a thief. He later signed a document with the police that I should be released. I was happy that the matter had been resolved, but unknown to me, this was the beginning of a big problem. The police later came to tell me that my house would be searched in the afternoon. I asked them to tell me the reason for that, but they did not tell me anything. During this time, Wale and Titi were in the DPO’s office, and I thought that they were negotiating my release. The police that searched my house reported back to the DPO and presented the receipts to him. At the DPO’s office, a guy interrogated me and introduced himself as a PM. I thought he was a Production Manager, but unknown to me, he was a journalist from PM News. It was later I got to know about this. He was the one that reported in the media that I was sent to Kirikiri Prison for robbery. After leaving the DPO’s office, I was told that I would be charged to court. Three days after, I was charged to court. My friends were behaving as if they were behind me. Even when my sister helped in securing a lawyer for me, my friends said he was a not a good one and offered to get me a good lawyer. I didn’t agree to that, maybe I would have rot in jail if I had not rejected their offer. . But how did you come about the 100 bunch of keys? This was the handiwork of the journalist that broke the story. When I even asked Titi about the media report, she rained abuses on the PM News guy that he was a stupid person. Titi told me that she knew the guy was a journalist and that she was giving me signal at the DPO office not to respond to his questions, but that I didn’t notice. Even my bosses (Ogogo and Yinka Quadri) were annoyed with me that I didn’t inform them about the whole matter. I told them I never thought it would turn out to be what it became. They stood solidly behind me despite everything. Let me tell you something, Titi dated the DPO because of my matter. I later got to know the whole truth of the matter later. I would have rot in jail but God helped me out. She was jealous of how I get money to do some things. Do you still relate with Titi? Never, such a person should not be mingled with at all because she is a dangerous person http://toyinaspirekomolafe..com/2013/12/actress-tells-her-story-of-how-she-went.html |
