Prof Imumolen calls out Arewa, demands transparent debate in wake of Kwankwaso's secret endorsement

Accord presidential candidate, Professor Christopher Imumolen has demanded a free, fair, transparent and an all-inclusive debate even as the Arewa's Elders Forum fine-tunes plans to stage one in Kaduna this week.

Professor Imumolen who is acting on claims made by Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, NNPP's presidential candidate that the foremost northern pressure group had concluded plans to use the debate to endorse a candidate for the 2023 general elections said it was in the interest of Arewa to ensure a high level of transparency as they conduct the proposed debate.

"I am speaking against the background of allegations made by my fellow presidential candidate, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso who recently withdrew from the soon-to-be conducted debate by Arewa House, alleging there was a secret plot to use the event to endorse a candidate," Imumolen said in Kaduna on Monday.

"I want to believe this is not true, even though it obvious that some of my colleagues who are flagbearers of other political parties haven't been included.

"Well, let me say this. If the organisers want Nigerians to see the debate as credible, they must not be seen as shutting out any candidate. Every one who deserves to be at the debate should be invited to present and defend their manifestos.

"Handpicking of a few candidates will not only tacitly give credence to the fears already expressed by Kwankwaso, it will also narrow down the options of our most discerning electorate who tend to make their choices from what they see.

"Besides, no where in the world a presidential debate is made a forum of endorsements for candidates. Arewa Consultative Forum will, therefore, be shooting itself in the foot by trying to do so, and thus showing its hand that it is sectional and biased in it's outlook.

"Now, am sure they can't be expected to be taken seriously by those who had expected them to be apolitical, fair and transparent in the conduct of a debate that has far-reaching implications for the future of our great country," he added.

The business man and philanthropist would further urge Arewa to avoid the mistakes made by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) when they also staged similar debates recently.

"Arewa must do everything in it's power to avoid the mistakes made by both the NBA and the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry when they handpicked a few of the candidates to take part in their versions of the presidential debates during recent conferences in Lagos," he said.

The Director of Strategic Communications of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, Chief Dele Momodu, has debunked stories making the rounds in the media space that the party has suspended its rallies as a result of the rift between the presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Reacting via his verified Instagram handle, Momodu said the stories are falsehood, and that the party is on course with its rallies, and is due to hit Kaduna next.

“Absolute falsehood…unlike the APC which is yet to put its act together, our Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council has taken off at supersonic speed…see you soon in Kaduna by God’s grace,” Momodu said.

The ‘falsehood’ Momodu talked about hinged on reports suggesting that the “PDP may have temporarily suspended its presidential campaign apparently over the protracted rift between the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike.”

The stories held that “It was learnt that the campaign rally was suspended at the instance of Atiku who, party sources said, had drafted three prominent PDP stakeholders to mediate in the standoff between him and the Rivers Governor.

“Atiku was reported to have drafted a former Senate President, David Mark; a former Rivers Governor, Peter Odili and a former Delta Governor, James Ibori as mediators.”

Momodu reiterated that the campaign train of the party, which is in full force, will berth in Kaduna soon.

PDP Holds Massive, Colourful Campaign Rally in Uyo As Atiku Vows To Rescue Nigeria From Poverty, Insecurity

Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has promised to rescue Nigeria from insecurity, poverty, disunity and youth unemployment.

Abubakar, who stated this on Monday during the official kick-off of the PDP presidential campaign at the Nest of Champions stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, said if elected he would restore Nigeria’s education.

He said the protracted strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and poor condition of the nation’s universities and welfare of university teachers will be addressed headlong.

At the rally were former Vice President Namadi Sambo; Vice presidential candidate Governor Ifeanyi Okowa; Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal; Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri; Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki; Taraba Governor Ishaku Darius; Adamawa Governor Fintiri as well as former governors of the PDP as well as leadership of the party.

Also at the flag-off were former presidents of the Senate including Bukola Saraki, David Mark, Adolphus Waraba Fand others.

Speaking, Atiku appealed to Nigerians to give PDP a chance to rescue the country’s economy, security apparatus, and other sectors that have been destroyed by the All Progressives Congress administration since 2015.

He said: “When PDP came to power in 1999, we met Nigeria in a state of poverty, insecurity, hunger, lack of education. We lifted Nigeria from the bottom to the top. We became the biggest economy in Africa, we had peace, we had progress. But when Nigerians said they wanted change, they voted for change in 2015.

“What we have seen is poverty, insecurity, lack of jobs and disunity. Our children are no longer going to school. Is that what we want to continue in?

“So, today, we have inaugurated the flag off of our campaign to rescue Nigeria. To rescue Nigeria from hunger, to rescue Nigeria from poverty, and also bring back the unity that we require in this country.

On his part, the chairman of the PDP Presidential campaign council and host of the day, Governor Udom said only Atiku has the capacity of rebuilding Nigeria.

"All the indices are bad. From the exchange rate of 150 naira to a dollar where we left it in 2015 to over N750 to a dollar now but I can assure you that we are set to fly the rescue mission and the train moves today. All Nigerians are expected to join us.

"If you look around, every Nigerian is eager to leave the country now due to the hard economic situation unlike what we have when PDP was in power. But I can assure you that once we get back to the Villa, things will change," he said.

For Governor Tambuwal who is the DG of the PDP Presidential campaign council, he said the APC is planning to sow a seed of discord in the country with the party's Muslim-Muslim ticket, unlike the PDP's ticket which he said balances the polity of Nigeria.

"The Atiku/Okowa presidential ticket is the only candidature that reflects the true nature of Nigeria. it reflects our diversity and it shows competence, capacity and character," he noted.

Alleged N130million Fraud: NNPC Staff Using Ministry Of Justice Officials To Harass, Blackmail Me - Abuja Developer, Osakwe Petitions Malami

A property developer, Mr Cecil Osakwe, who was charged with alleged N130million fraud by the Nigerian government has accused one Asabe Waziri, a staff of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) of blackmailing him.

In a petition to the Minister of Justice, Abubarkar Malami, he said he was not legally notified or served with the said charge by the judicial workers.

Osakwe through his counsel, Victor Giwa and Associates alleged Waziri has been using Malami’s name to intimidate and harass the judiciary, policemen and other security agencies with a bid to achieve her objective of taking over his property through stalled transaction which a competent court had terminated.

According to him, On the 17th of February, 2022, Hon Justice Musa Othman of the FCT High Court delivered a judgment which terminate the said transaction and ordered him to refund all the payment made by the NNPC staff.

The property developer said he immediately paid Waziri the sum of N150 million being total of all fees as directed by the court. Attached to the petition were photocopies of the cheques for the refund.

The petition read, “It has come to the attention of OUR CLIENT through reports in various media both electronic and newspaper publications about a purported charge and arraignment on ‘trumped up charges’ of obtaining by false pretenses the sum of one hundred and thirty million naira (130,000,000.00), from Ms ASABE WAZIRI, a staff of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

“Although our client was not legally notified or served with the said charge, the charge was later sent to our client through one Police officer, after the media sensation, aimed at defaming our client.

“HONOURABLE Minister Sir, it will interest you to knw that Ms ASABE WAZIRI had threatened our client with the use of your office when the transaction went awry; a threat we took with pinch of salt. However, the latest development now reveals that the threat is being carefully executed using some person in your office, an office that should be highly regarded.

“Following the blasphemous publication and the attempt to use of your office to settle personal scores, we are constrained to bring to your notice these developments which we beleive might not be within your knowledge, as the said Asabe Waziri has been using your name to intimidate and harass the judiciary, policemen and other security agencies with a bid to achieve her dubious objective of taking over a property through stalled transaction with our client which a competent court had terminated. It is therefore pertinent that we present the fact of the case.

“1. Ms Asabe Waziri had approached our client sometimes 2022 February, to purchase 2 units of 2bed room apartment which was priced at 130 Million naira each totaling 260 million naira.

“2. She made various totaling about 140 million naira, after which she was given possession of the flats even while she had not completed her payments.

“3. Shortly, after possession was delivered to her in the same year, Asabe Waziri converted one of the units into a short let apartment in violation of the covenants of the apartment.

“4. Based on the various breaches and her mode of payment our client approached Asabe Waziri to terminate the transaction and offered to refund her money, an offer Asabe bluntly refused, prompting our clinical to approach the FCT High Court Abuja.

“5. On the 17th of February, 2022 the said High Court Coram Hon Justice Musa Othman delivered a judgment which terminate the said transaction and order our Client to refund all the payment made by Asabe Waziri and further orders that Asabe Waziri immediately delivered possession to our client. Attached is judgment.

“6. Immediately, our client refunded to Asabe Waziri the sum of N150 Million being total of all fees as directed by the court. Attached are photocopies of the cheques.

“7. On the 18th of February, after the payment, Asabe Waziri through her counsel ILS Attorneys barrister amd solicitors returned the instrument of payment stating that Asabe Waziri has appealed the judgment in the Court of Appeal. The said letter is attached.

“8. On the 18th of March, 2022 the said judgment was enforced and Asabe Waziri was vacated from the apartment.

“9. Shortly after the said enforcement, Asabe Waziri and her agents started contacting and employing senior police officers to intimidate and harass our client and his lawyer, Giwa Victor Esq coercing them to issue her the title to the property even when the matter is before the court of appeal with appeal number CA/ABJ/2022 for adjudication.

“Sir we were shocked on the 3rd of July, 2022, when the media was awash with the news of the arraignment of our client by the Federal government on the charges of obtaining by false pretenses the sum of N130 Million. This becomes more disturbing that we were not even served with the said charge before news report.

“It will be invidious and odious to speculate that Ms Asabe Waziri in conjunction with her cohorts in the Ministry of Justice are using the Minister of Justice to pursue her personal vendetta against our Client all in a bid to embarrass and damage our client’s hard earned reputation.

“However, we are fully aware that you will not allow your office to be use as an instrument of settling personal scores, we further believe you will take the appropriate steps when such anomalies are brought to your attention.

“We therefore appeal to you that you do not allow Asabe Waziri with her accomplice to abuse the office of the ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION by using it to continue to harass and intimidate honest citizens who are using their hard earned resources to provide the much meeded employment to Nigerians.”

Iyorchia Ayu Calls Tambuwal ‘Hero Of Convention’ As Atiku , Gov Fintiri Visits Him [VIDEO]

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, on Sunday, received a thank you visit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders and stakeholders.

Tambuwal had during the PDP presidential primary on Saturday stood down for Atiku Abubakar, a development, which eventually gave him victory.

Atiku had during the presidential primary defeated the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike.

Those who paid a thank you visit to Tambuwal, according to a short video seen were; Atiku and the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu.

Ayu was accompanied by the former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido; former Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Maina and a former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha.

A video of Atiku’s visit to Tambuwal’s residence, which was shared online, indicated that the former vice president was accompanied by Senator Dino Melaye.

Similarly, another short video clip, which was also shared online, showed Ayu patting Tambuwal’s back and saying” Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are the hero of the convention.”

On his visit to Tambuwal, Atiku, who was accompanied by one of his associates, Senator Dino Melaye, and others, had close discussions, especially, on how to move the Atiku campaigns forward.

IT’S TIME TO REBUILD NIGERIA, TOGETHER!

Dear Esteemed PDP Delegates,

I humbly write to you to draw your attention to something that will spare us further agonies of misgovernance as the elections draw close.
Ahead of our country’s general election, we all observed the soaring number of aspirants. The trend even took a new dimension recently with the overwhelming number of candidates vying for the presidential seat under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties.

However, while the large number of political gladiators in the presidential race may be unprecedented and could be overwhelming for delegates across board, the wheat can be separated from the chaff by the assessment of their evidence-based track record and undefiled antecedent as well as the will power to act.

The paradigm shift from government to governance and from fruitless clichés to realistic and pragmatic development is now on the horizon.

It’s no longer news that the terrifying challenges in the country in all sectors requires a candidate that is indisputably fit to be a flag bearer of the PDP in the imminent presidential race.

Conversely, if the foregoing attributes of a suitable candidate that could sail the boat of Nigeria to the admirable destination is anything to go by, then I can confidently assure you that the search is over at the discovery of a man who is worth his weight in gold, called Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
We are living witnesses to the daunting challenges facing our nation. It is needless to start mentioning them because Nigerians are wearing the shoe and they know where it pinches. Also, the solutions to these challenges are well known and some even documented in blueprints of various Ministries, Departments and (MDAs) of government at all levels. However, the missing link is the political will to ACT!

Amid these irregularities, the PDP, having lost two consecutive presidential elections in the last seven years, now has another opportunity to elect a qualified candidate who knows his onions to face the ruling party in the contest and deliver victory to the main opposition party, hence the popular choice of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR.

Why is Tambuwal Suitably Qualified?

Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal apart from being a trained Lawyer and life member of Body of Benchers, has been an astute public servant and Chief Executive Officer at two separate arms of government: Legislature and Executive. He is a man of unquestionable character throughout his over two-decade political career.

Now that Nigerians are more divided than ever before, the PDP needs someone that is acceptable to all Nigerians across ethno-religious divide to score its political goals. Having travelled all the 360 constituencies of Nigeria as a former Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tambuwal is a true unifier who understands the country’s diversity and can manage it well as demonstrated by the handling of all the appointments at the 7th House of Representative during his stewardship as the Speaker.

Besides, the party needs someone like Tambuwal not only because of his stellar reputation, but capacity, competence and character and all it takes to win an election.

On security; as part of his commitment to strengthening formidable security apparatus in the state included signing into law the Security Challenges (Containment) Order, provision of over 500 vehicles and 765 motorcycles as well as 132 housing as well as information gathering drones to federal security agencies. Not to leave out fueling of the vehicles and regular payment of their allowances.

Tambuwal understands the issues regarding the daunting insecurity in Nigeria and he will work with relevant stakeholders in strategizing and deploying the requisite resources and technology towards tackling this challenge across the country.

Strike actions are now recurring decimal in the academic calendar of our higher institutions, from the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) to the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics ASUP taking turns to downtool, while their counterpart at the Colleges of Education (COEASU) are equally drumming to follow suit.

While this nonchalant attitude by the federal government towards education which is considered the bedrock of national development is highly condemnable, the PDP can be rest assured that the current storm in the nation’s education sector would soon be over when Tambuwal clinches the party’s presidential ticket and goes to win at the general elections.
The answer is simple! Proper funding and adequate allocation has been the major challenge of these higher institutions and that would definitely not be a problem under the watch of Tambuwal, who is currently allocating 29% of the Sokoto State budget to education, surpassing the UNESCO’s recommendation of 26%. The gesture had earned him several UNESCO awards of Excellence in the funding of Education.

Obviously, the enormous task of the presidency and the huge challenges in various sectors in the country require a vibrant leader who would not be running the affairs of the country from the hospital, thus the leading PDP presidential aspirant (Tambuwal) is the right choice being a bridge builder between the younger and older generation. Specifically, at 56 he is not too young to run and not too old to lead.

Tambuwal’s fiscal policies in Sokoto State are topnotch. He revived the industrial and commercial sector, got the federal government’s nod as the best performing state following the disbursement of N123.34bn grants to states. The federal government also applauded the governor’s leadership style on ease of doing business in Nigeria, being the second best performing state across the country.

Also, his track record on Transparency and Accountability has proven the fact that he is capable of tackling the endemic corrupt practices in the country. This is evident in the recent World Bank record rating Sokoto as the most transparent state in Nigeria for its commitment to the States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability programme after the implementation of the Bank’s $22million grant.

Tambuwal administration initiated automation of Internally Generated Revenue IGR, paving the way for no-cash policy and blocking loopholes. He also edged out ghost workers through his Payroll Harmonization and Modernization initiative. These feats could also be expanded to rescue the current sinking economy of Nigeria from total collapse, if the symbol of good governance (Tambuwal) is given the opportunity.

On worker’s welfare, Sokoto state was amongst the first states in Nigeria to comply with the N30,000 minimum wage and ensures prompt payment of salaries in the state, at same time the government has cleared blacklog of gratuity of over 2.5 billion and 1.2 billion in 2016 and 2017 respectively and still sustains the monthly payment of 100 million.

On 35% Affirmative Action, Sokoto state scored high with 3 Female Commissioners, 3 Permanent Secretaries, 7 DGs, 4 Special Advisers, 69 Councilors and many Directors and Heads of Departments.

In addition to his qualities, he symbolizes Good governance and from his background he understands the workings of the Judiciary, Legislature and the Executive arms of government. He is widely accepted across ethno-religious divide and possesses the right Temperament; these are important factors to Nigeria’s stability and prosperity.

This is a passionate appeal to party faithful and delegates nationwide to take advantage of this opportunity to right all the wrongs and vote with conscience as we can’t afford to get it wrong this time.

I plead with us to vote with nobility remembering that we have no other country than Nigeria and we are all in this ship together. It is important to note; the choice you make at the primaries will determine if the ship successfully sails to shore or sinks in the deep seas.

Nigeria’s fate is pinned on you to present a credible and detribalized candidate. We are counting on your patriotism to vote right and ensure your votes count.

With our aggravated challenges, bringing our country back from the brink is an economic, moral, political and social imperative. Nigeria is at a crossroad and needs to take effective decisions on its next political and governance steps and we believe that the Mutawallen Sokoto is capable to deliver!

Preparations for a gale of mass defection from the ruling All Progrossives Congress APC is believed to reached top gear with growing member discontent as the party’s governorship primaries draws near.

The looming wind of defection that stares the Niger APC in the face with the potential of completely crippling the party in the state as it involves critical stakeholders.

The aggrieved officials set to dump the APC for the New Nigeria Peoples Party include many members of the National and State Assemblies and ¹government Council Chairmen and several other party stalwarts.

The aggrieved party stalwarts are worried by revelations of undemocratically orchestrated plans to tinker with the existing genuine delegates list to favour one of the governorship aspirants.

A source within the decamping party big wigs said the way the list of delegates was being tempered with by a clique of desperate people who are at best inconsequential in the party would not be tolerated or accommodated.

He said since remaining in the APC is not sacrosanct, they have finalized arrangements to shift to the NNPP anytime before the primaries.

A letter to Governor Abubakar Sani on the illegalities happening within the party

Dear Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, what you are getting praises is about to be destroyed by the state party chairman, the secretary and organizing secretary, they’re busy changing delegates names.

Delegates already know themselves, if by any chance anyone’s name has been changed and was unable to cast his vote, know that there will be serious crisis.

Your name has been praised by your stand as the only governor who has not anointed anyone but is providing a level playing ground to all aspirants. I’ll partner Ndigbo to industrialise Nigeria – Tambuwal

A presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, on Saturday, said if elected President in the 2023 general election, his administration would partner with the Ndigbo to industrialise Nigeria.
Tambuwal said the partnership would focus more on skill acquisition programmes to engage Nigerians, especially, the youths, irrespective of tribe, ethnic and religious placement to douse the agitations and other criminal activities across the country.
The Sokoto governor stated this when he addressed the Anambra PDP delegates at the national convention in Awka, Anambra State.
He noted that the major cause of the agitations such as Boko Haram, banditry, gunmen, and other security threats befalling the country was a result of idleness on the side of the youths and the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government’s failure to engage them on meaningful ventures

He said, “If I am elected as President, I will exhibit what I am currently doing in Sokoto State as governor. In my state today, the government under my watch pays school fees for indigenes and non-indigenes in all the public schools from primary to secondary school in the state and that is the policy I will maintain in the education sector if I am elected.”
Tambuwal said that among those vying for the highest office in the land, he was about the most qualified having been a lawyer and speaker of the House of Representatives who handled matters at federal level and governor of a state, adding that such qualifications were not common among other aspirants.
“I also have the competence, capacity, character, and the right temperament to handle national issues. The issues in Nigeria require somebody who is calm and has a large network of friends across the nation

“I am a pan-Nigerian. I know the challenges of Anambra State, so I can represent you well-heeled,” he added.

He challenged Nigerians to aspire to have a modern President, the person of himself, who can do the job and not President of 1984, stressing that the difference between the PDP government and the APC was the ability to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, in which the PDP governors had been doing.

“As delegates, we must be very conscious of the candidate we will choose because our action will have a direct consequence on the lives of those alive and those yet unborn. It’s a very sacred responsibility which we must emphasise with every sense of patriotism, commitment and sincerity.

Senator Amosun Raises Eye Brows As He Declares To Contest For Presidential Election

The immediate Past Governor of Ogun State and incumbent lawmaker representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Ibikunle Amosun declaration to contest to become the Presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has continue to raise brows in some quarters and also unsettled some political heavyweights ahead of the party’s presidential primary election of the party.

While Amosun remain a major contender in the race, it is very glaring that the APC candidates has more pretenders than contenders, given unfolding developments ahead of the party’s primary election.

Despite the array of politicians in the race, most of them with huge financial war chest, the former two term governor believes that he stands a better chance of picking the ticket of the ruling party because he has what it takes to turn around the fortunes of Nigeria. While it has been a season of promises by presidential aspirants, who have been criss-crossing the country, consulting with delegates and other stakeholders ahead of the primaries, many who listened to Amosun’s presentation during his formal declaration for the Office of the President on May 5, had no option than to agree that he has one of the best programmes for an average Nigerian.

The former Ogun State governor, who addressed APC faithful as well as supporters, who thronged the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, not only declared his readiness for the job but unveiled an eight-point agenda, which according to him, will transform the country within the shortest possible time. Noting that his wealth of experience in both the public and private sectors has prepared him well to lead Nigeria, the former governor reeled out his campaign manifesto to include improving the nation security architecture in order to tackle insecurity, creating enabling environment for businesses to thrive and grow the economy, and provision of infrastructural facilities for the teeming Nigerian populace.

While some belief that Amosun is using the presidential contest to negotiate his return to the Senate. They also claimed he had already secretly purchased the senatorial form to return to the Senate and even attended the screening for senatorial aspirants last weekend. There are members of another political school that claimed that the former governor will soon collapse his structures in order to form an alliance with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, another presidential aspirant on APC platform.

However, Amosun has not only dismissed these claims, but declared that he is in the race to secure the APC presidential ticket.

He maintained that alignment with any other presidential aspirant is not part of his plan.

According to his media aide, Bola Adeyemi, Amosun urged Nigerians to the disregard the report that he attended the screening exercise for senatorial aspirants. He said he was never at the screening exercise because he didn’t purchase nomination and expression of interest forms for the senatorial election. The statement read in part: “The attention of Senator Ibikunle Amosun has been drawn to two news stories trending in the social media.

The first falsely claims that Senator Amosun has been cleared to contest for the Senate. “The second claims that Senator Amosun is set to align with a named presidential aspirant for the presidential contest. The two news stories are false.

Not stopping at that, some faceless group under the APC told the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, that the former Governor of the State has “documented history of violence”.

With the unstoppable barrage of negativity thrown at him, its obvious that Ibikunle Amosun still remains a man to beat in the forthcoming presidential primary election as he has also played a key role in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration’s economic transformation policy which gives him an advantage over other presidential aspirants.

“You know where I stand on this matter and it’s clear that I’m with my brother Governor Tambuwal” those were the words of the Edo state PDP chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, to delegates of the party when Governor Tambuwal met with the state delegates in Benin, the Edo state capital.

“In this case, the PDP said all Presidential aspirants irrespective of where they are from can go to the field and canvass for votes and whoever wins will now be the flag bearer of our party. There is a lot of wisdom in what has been done and that’s why you can see that our party has been stable.
"The main objective for PDP is to win the election, how can we win the election and who is that candidate that can deliver victory to our party,”
He said party leaders and delegates must watch out for indices such as electability of the candidate and how the candidate can be appreciated, valued and trusted by all the tendencies such as, regional, religious, tribal and age.


In Imo, Mr Tambuwal said that the insecurity in the South-East was a result of the exclusion of the people of the zone from the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(rtd).

According to him, the people of the zone feel cheated that Buhari left them in the scheme of things in his regime.

He said, “Buhari has shortchanged the South-East. I was the one who advised Saraki to choose Ike Enweremadu to become his deputy in 2015. There is a complete case of exclusion of the people of South East. The head of the ten most important parastatals are not from South-East, including the CBN governor.

“None of the service chiefs is from the South-East. The president, the vice president, the Senate president, the deputy senate president, the speaker of the House of Representatives and his deputy is from the South-East. Under my watch that can’t happen. Every part of this country will be carried along.
“South-East and Imo State in particular can’t be excluded. The PDP will win back Imo when I become president. Igbo people are industrial. You will find a partner in me. Interacting with delegates in Edo, Tambuwal warned members of his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to cast their votes on the basis of primordial sentiments during the forthcoming non-elective convention of the main opposition party in Abuja.

The presidential aspirant stated that he was in full support of restructuring of the country, and he would endeavour to ensure it took place, while stressing that under his watch, no part of Nigeria would be left behind.

He equally assured PDP members that he would make good use of his many years of experience to give financial autonomy to the judiciary, legislature and the local government councils, thereby performing much better than President Muhammadu Buhari of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tambuwal Engages Bayelsa Delegates, Says Only A Pan-Nigerian Candidate Like Him Can Return PDP To Power


Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, a leading Presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] has urged the delegates of the PDP in Bayelsa to be open minded and not be senitmental when they cast their vote to elect the presidential flagbearer of the party come May 28 in Abuja.

Mr Tambuwal who arrived Yenagoa on Tuesday afternoon first went into a closed-door meeting with the state governor, Doye Diri, before heading to the party secetariate where he was received by mamonth crowd who deflied the heavy rain to welcome the governor who they described as one of their own.

Engagng the delegates, Mr Tambuwal said the party must get it right by voting someone with a pan Nigerian mind set, right temoprament, character and competence to run a dynamic Nigeria.

In his words; "When you are looking for the best, don't be sentimental. When Prsident Obasanjo created NDDC, he was not from the Niger-Delta. ?But it was out of his pan Nigerianess. When President Yar Adua was president, he created ministry of Niger-Delta, he was not from the Niger-Delta but out of his pan nigeria outlook. I'm a pan-Nigerian and I have network of friends across the length and breathe of this country. i understand the issue and iu can assemble the team that can work and move this country forward. It's about team work. No man is an island. It has to be collective.

"Support a candidate that understands the issue of Nigeria, someone who understands federal character, who understand the complexiting of Nigeria. Eleect someone who has been tested with position such as Speaker of the House of Representative and ran the house transparently; someone who understand issues across each state.

"For example, if and when we emerge as President of Nigeria, I will partner with the government of Bayelsa to establish a deep sea port in Bayelsa. This will decongest the port in Lagos and Port Hacourt. This will bring jobs opportunity, development and focus on Bayelsa.

"We must develop aquatic life in Bayelsa state. We must come up with a proper and practable master plan for proper clean up of oil spilage on our communities and not the 419 one they have been brandishing everywhere."

Governor Tambuwal equally promise to run an inclusive government if he emerge as the party's flagbearer.

Responding, the acting PDP chairman said the state is aware of Governor Tambuwal's pedigree as a Speaker and now as Governor as well as Chairman of the PDP Governors' Forum.

He promise the former Speaker the bloc votes of the delegates as his candidature resornates well with majority of the delegates in state.

Lagos Council Chairman in 21-plot school land theft mess

The Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government area of Lagos State, Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, will soon appear before the Ikeja High Court over alleged dirty role he was said to have played in supposed usurpation of 3.3 acres(21 plots) of land at Adam Yakubu Memorial High School situated at Iloro in the council area.

A Muslim society, Anwaru-ul-Islam Movement of Nigeria, through its lawyer, Emmanuel Tosin Ogundeji has dragged some alleged usurpers of the said land before the Ikeja High Court.

The accused include, Taofiki Ogabi and Afogunlowo Shitta. Both in the suit number: 684562022 will have their days in court in their individual capacities and that of their families for allegedly encroaching on the land in 2021.

The Muslim group in its averment said, it procured the land in several acres from Ogunji Adebari and Asunmoge families in 1945 where one of its schools, Adam Yakubu Memorial High School is situated.

Investigation by our correspondent revealed that the elephant in the house who Anwaru-ul-Islam currently has not named as defendant in the suit is Egunjobi.

The Agege Council boss, according to inside sources, was the architect of the land theft and only enlisted the supports of Ogabi and Shitta to perpetrate the alleged land grabbing.

His omission from the charges before the court was said to be "deliberate and strategic" with report that the he has been reported to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Ministry of lands.

It was further gathered that the Agege Chairman, who is an Abeokuta-high-chief sold part of his own share of the spoils, a plot and half for a total sum of N56m.

CURFEW: BISHOP KUKAH COMMENDS TAMBUWAL'S ACTION, DEBUNKS ATTACK ON RESIDENCE

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Dioceses, Most Reverend Matthew Kukah has commended the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for his prompt declaration of 24-hours curfew to calm the ongoing protests in the state.

The protesters had earlier attacked the Holy Family Catholic Cathedral at Bello Road and St. Kevin's Catholic Church, Gidan Dere, destroying windows and a community bus parked within the premises.

Although, no life was lost during the protest. The development however prompted Governor Tambuwal to swiftly declare a 24-hours curfew in the city. He also cancelled his consultative visits.

Recall that the governor was billed to visit six states for the ongoing consultations over his presidential bid. He however canceled the visits to ensure normalcy is restored to the state. "The peace of the state is more important than my aspiration" he noted.

Reacting, Most Reverend Kukah, in a statement signed by the Director of Social Communications of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Reverend Father Christopher A. Omotosho, commended Gov. Tambuwal for the proactive measures taken.

"In a reaction, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Dioceses, Most Reverend Mathew Kukah commended the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal for acting promptly by declaring the 24-hours curfew to stem the protests" He said.

He also commended the security agencies for their prompt intervention in preventing further spread of the protest.

Bishop Kukah, in the statement, also debunked the rumored attack on his residence. "Contrary to information in circulation, we wish to disclaim that there was attack on any sort on the residence of Bishop Matheny Hassan Kukah". He said.

The Bishop therefore appealed to Christians to be law abiding and pray for normalcy to return to the state.

"All masses in Sokoto metropolis have been suspended until the curfew is lifted" the statement added.

There has never been a time when Nigerlites have to be extravigilant concerning their political future than now as the merchants of toxic politics have all but perfected their permutations to “Install” the Governor of the State in 2023.

This is being done, despite assurances at various engagements by the Governor, that he has no candidate and would allow the will of the people to prevail.

These political merchants have ignored him, and they are who they are today not for any discernable contributions to the society but because of their proximity to government machinery.

This suffocating grip is now being modulated to take over and muzzle any opposition in the party. Consequently, this would give them further ample access to levers of government for continued banditry on the finances of the state.

This group of buccaneers making sure they do not lose their vice grip on Governor Abubakar Sani Bello who came onboard full of desire to change the development narrative of the state, have made sure their personal aggrandizement became the nucleus of governance.
Today, Niger State is a pitiable recipient of all their failings, Nigerlites have to stand up collectively against another round of arrested development and submit in clear terms by resisting this move. It is ill- conceived, fraudulent, arrogant, selfish and has no basis in democratic realities of today.

Nigerlites, would you stand aloof and allow this group to further impoverish and mortgage, the future of the State?.
How do you expect individuals who have fed fat on our patrimony will now also want to become architects of our fate. Can we remain unconcerned that this macabre dance, that is not people factored to further aid the bleeding of the state and cover the nefarious activities of the past.

A roll call of these characters will show that they do not deserve any form of honour anywhere in the state.

How can an individual who got a contract to build a massive house of Assembly Complex, with constant variations has not completed it four years on. The same goes for another who got a multi-billion naira turn around water contract in Bida, Minna and Kontagora since inception of this regime without completion. The people in these areas are still gasping for water. The renovation of Minna sports gymnasium awarded Six years ago has not been completed hampering the development of sports in the state.

Niger State unlike Gombe, Bauchi and Kaduna states who are cardinal reference points of development have succeeded because they don’t have hawks surrounding their administration. They have always appointed commissioners, local Government Chairmen and other Political appointees. They control administrative affairs in Ministries where their men are despite direct control on the finances and personnel, there is no visible landmark or objective contribution that can be attributed to them anywhere in the state. It is this objectionable condition they want to perpetrate sentencing us to stone age existence and pittance.

Do I have to mention the individual who got a rural electrification project that is yet to be completed 17 years on what of the serial betrayer who was given an ambassadorial posting, only to dump the party to contest governorship election with another party. Now he is back to the party, directing and projecting.

They are now bold to make claims in billions for payment as the present regime draws to an end. We demand they provide incontrovertible evidence of projects executed to back up their claims.

Nigerlites, are this kind of people who you want to trust? Is it not clear that what they want is to have another individual at their beck and call. Nigerlites are not considered in their political equation but driven by primitive sense of accumulation.

Now is the time to let them know that the circumstances that gave the APC ascendency in 2015 has all but gone. New realities have taken over, new actors are on the scene, various political tendencies have emerged, voting demographics have changed, Peoples perspectives are now sky high. This is why we must not allow this cabal to hold us back.

The time for change has finally come, Resist impositions, Let them have their say, but with our united front they will not have their way.

So should we fold our hands and watch our state being mortgaged by those who don’t even reside in the state?

The news of the meeting held on Tuesday where they finalised the decision to mortgage our state at the sum of 4Billion naira by has already gone public. What is disheartening about this is that these are same people who God has given capacity to help the state move forward but are the very people who are trying be all means to bring the it down.

For someone who has enjoined juicy contracts in the govt running into tens of billions but all that is not enough yet still want to hand over the state to a man who has no public service experience, who himself is surrounded by huge debts. What has Niger state done to you people apart from enriching you that you insist on bringing it down to zero.

It is disappointing that they took us for granted, they see us as chickens who have no say of their own, they just come and brag about money and assume all of us will run to them because of money, we are wiser now.

They will collect your money and the good people of Niger state will not vote for you.

Socialite and Serial Entrepreneur, Wale Jana pays investors 150 million naira and sues Nnamdi Chife for 160 million naira for defamation

Wale Jana is the CEO of Sapphire Group, a company that specializes in the production of perfumes, wrist watches, eyeglasses, jewelries, accessories and more recently the introduction of Sapphire Hills, which he birthed in 2022. Speaking about his new venture into the Real Estate line he shares, “We noticed that there were not many known faces in the real estate business. There are few well known brands and we wanted to change that with our strategy of merging homes with nature. Any piece of real estate Sapphire is selling will always be picturesque with either mountains or an ocean view. The strategy is to blend home with nature.”

Over the years since his inception, he has tirelessly pushed his brands beyond heights imagined and possibilities unthought but this nonetheless has also brought him some backlash as a result of controversies relating to unpaid investors and several defamations from different persons but nonetheless he has scaled over all of this and risen much higher as a brand. Addressing the situation of things with his investors he stated, “We had a challenge with our investors which are made up of people who invested in our business.

The funds were used to produce perfumes, watches, eyewear and jewelry and also to cover overhead and capital projects. The funds were short term and unfortunately we couldn’t meet up with payments because of the pandemic. It’s been very daunting and challenging but we have been making progress. So far we have paid over 150 million and we will continue to make payments.”

As Wale Jana continues to make payments to several investors who had invested in his business the rage of defamations hasn’t held back as he was recently called out by a Nnamdi Chife for being a scam artist. To this effect, Wale has further sued him for 160 million naira for defamation and looking further to have his name and honor cleared.

2023: Tambuwal Appoints Senator Tuned Ogbeha As Presidential Campaign Chairman

Frontline Presidential aspirant under the People Democratic Party, PDP, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, has appointed Senator Senator Tunde Ogbeha as the Chairman of his Presidential Campaign.

The appointment takes immediate effect.

Senator Ogbeha is expected to deploy his vast experience in administration, public policy and politics to the Campaign and will chair meetings of the Tambuwal Campaign Council. He will help set up priorities and give direction to the Campaign.

Senator Tunde Ogbeha is a retired general from Kogi State Nigeria who was administrator of Akwa Ibom State and then of Bendel State during the military rule of General Ibrahim Babangida. After the return to democracy in 1999 he was the elected senator representing Kogi West constituency of Kogi State from May 1999 to May 2007.

Tunde Ogbeha who had earlier served as a Ambassador is an alumnus of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru.

After leaving the Senate in 2007, Ogbeha became Chairman of the Confluence Cable Network, Kogi State's first private broadcasting station. He also became a member of the board of Falcon Securities, a stock brokerage firm and was appointed in 2009 by President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua to the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, representing the non-oil-producing North Central region.
