Let’s say someone walks into a showroom and they want to quickly tell which hp is 1 or 1.5. They should pull out this list or start calculating?

I don’t know if you do business but there are some of us that want to make this very simple for our customers.
You cannot say the method I gave them is wrong because it’s correct.

My aim is to make it simpler for people. I don’t know your aim. Someone who has a job or is busy doesn’t have the time or Interest to go in-depth because of AC.

You could have simply created your own post or even at least sound like to have respect for people.

I attached a picture of the outdoor unit of an LG 2hp. Look at the top corner where they wrote Model- it is 11 character long. Every character means something.
But the 5th and 6th character is what tells you the horsepower. This one says 18 which means 2hp. 12 means 1.5hp. 9 means 1hp. You can also get this information from the carton and on the right side of indoor unit. Leave a comment if you have another question

As an AC dealer, people ask me this question a lot.
I sell different brands of ACs and I am not ambassador for anyone so I’m not promoting any AC in particular.

This gives me the room to tell people the truth. The first thing I like to tell people is that phrase “best brand” is relative. What is best for you might not be best for another person. This means that if you can afford to go a hisense AC then that’s the best brand for you.
There are people who like using midea products no matter what you tell them. Then midea is the best brand for them.

This best brand is also dependent on functionality. What do I mean? Hisense AC doesn’t have a standing inverter AC. So if you want a standing inverter AC, hisense is not the best brand for you.
That’s why I said best brand is relative. All ACs are good but the best for you depends on you.

It’s good to ask questions before buying an AC so you can be 100% satisfied with your purchase.

I think it’s very important to read articles before commenting. But then your name says it all.
From experience as a dealer I can never belittle my clients because of the questions they ask me. With wisdom I’ll respond to their questions and make sure they understand.

As an AC dealer, this was one of the most interesting question I’ve had to answer. People have also asked me “how long does an inverter AC last without light?” and others like that.

I just want to clarify here and now that an Inverter AC only works when there is a form of light. It can be from PHCN, generator or solar energy. But there has to be light before the AC can work.

I understand why some people get it mixed up anyway. That word “Inverter”.

An Inverter AC is simply an AC that can help you save energy. When you use an inverter AC, you can conserve up to 70% energy unlike the regular ones. So it works best for prepaid meter and solar energy system. That’s what it simply means.

If I may ask, does these also apply to other brands of inverter Air conditioner as most are just "inverter" and not "Dual inverter".

In a normal setting, when you go to buy an AC and you tell them you want an inverter AC they’re supposed to bring exactly what you asked for.
But sometimes mistakes can happen and it is important to for you know the difference so that you can tell by just looking at the carton that you are getting what you paid for.

There is no where it is written on the carton that it’s an Inverter AC whether is LG, Hisense, midea, etc.

So how would you know?
Right there on the carton of an Inverter AC, there is a white sticker on it that tells you the type of refrigerant the AC uses. An inverter AC uses R410A while a NonInverter AC uses R22. If you want to buy a low voltage AC also specify because they also use R410A.

This is the only way you can tell the difference between both of them by looking at the carton.

The general reason people collect receipts is to have an evidence of what they have paid for and this is very logical. To take it a step further, having your receipt after purchasing a home appliance like an AC for instance, will save you future stress.

I sell air inverter and NonInverter conditioners in Lagos at the best prices. So, recently a client who bought an AC last year, called us to come check out her AC because it was not cooling as good as before.
All she had to do was send a picture of her receipt, phone number and home address. When the engineers checked it, turned out that their current was too low and the AC switched to low voltage mode. It wasn’t a problem, after a few days the current was fixed and her AC started functioning at optimal capacity.

This is one reason collecting your receipts is important. It gives you access to warranty.

Well, the price of AC has come down. The elections made the market uncertain. Also, ACs are cheaper in Lagos because competition is much here.

Buying an Airconditioner is like buying the perfect trousers that fit. The principles are the same thing. When you’re buying new trousers, you want the one that’s your perfect size, you want the one that’s according to your budget, you want the one that you know is easy to maintain etc.

So when buying an Air conditioner, answers these questions first:

1) What is the size of the room you want to cool?
The space you want to should determine the horse power (hp) to buy. If it’s a big sitting room with a dining space, you could be looking at 2hp or a standing AC. If it’s a smaller space like a room or a smaller sitting room, you can be going for a 1hp or 1.5hp.

2) What kind of Meter do you use?
Sometimes people make a mistake of buying a NonInverter AC because it costs less without asking if it can serve them. If you use a prepaid meter, where the energy you consume reads per hour, it’s best you buy an inverter AC because it consumes an average of 0.8-0.9kw/h so you can save money on light bills. If you don’t use a prepaid meter, feel free to go for the non inverter AC since it has no consequences on your meter.

3) Where can I get it at the best package? Getting the best package when buying an AC is where you can get the best deal in price, installation services, and follow come installation kit for your AC. Most times when the dealer sends you an installer, they’re sending you someone who knows the work and not someone who will do an installation that will bring problems soon. To get the best deal on price, try to find a wholesaler who sells in bulk but can also sell in retail quantities.

During hot seasons most of us use of our Air conditioners to reverse the heat by 100%.

The Air conditioner does it’s job but have you ever wondered how it works?
