Good riddance. I assumed it was only MTV Base Naija this would affect. The company made a killing from 1981 to 2005. 2004 thereabout was the shift to reality TV. They lost relevance immediately after.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, MTV expanded worldwide and shaped youth culture through its music rotation, reality shows, celebrity interviews, and award ceremonies.

The brand later evolved into multiple sub-channels such as MTV Hits, MTV Music, and genre-specific retro channels celebrating music from the 80s and 90s.

However, the rise of YouTube, streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, and short-form video apps such as TikTok drastically reduced the relevance of traditional music television.

Over the past decade, MTV shifted increasingly toward reality programming, while its dedicated music channels struggled with dwindling audiences and declining advertising revenue.

Paramount’s decision to shut down MTV’s remaining international music channels marks the most significant contraction of the network since its founding—signalling the end of linear music TV as global audiences move almost entirely to digital, on-demand formats.

Ghana police arrest woman caught assaulting man in viral video

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a woman seen in a viral video physically assaulting a man.

The arrest was carried out by the IGP's Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team on Wednesday, November 27, 2025.

The suspect, Esther Nana Afia Sarfowaa, was apprehended at Subriso in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency of the Ashanti Region.

A second suspect, Stephen Ofori, was also arrested at Nkawie in connection with the incident.

Police say three other individuals linked to the assault remain at large, and efforts are ongoing to bring them into custody.

American Woman Says She Was Deported to a Country She Has Never Visited

A Maryland woman says she is still reeling after being deported to a country she claims she has no connection to — and has never stepped foot in.

Rabbiatu Kuyateh, 58, originally fled Sierra Leone during its civil war nearly three decades ago.

Earlier this month, she was unexpectedly removed to Ghana after being detained during what was supposed to be her routine annual immigration check-in.

A disturbing video circulating on social media appears to show Kuyateh being dragged across the floor by individuals she believes are Ghanaian government personnel.

In the footage, people in green uniforms pull her on her stomach and load her onto a bus bound for Sierra Leone, where she is now staying at an undisclosed location.

Speaking to NBC4, Kuyateh said she tried to resist as she was forcefully handled. “That’s when they dragged me.
