Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Olasijibomi Ogundele, founder of Sujimoto Luxury Construction, wanted for alleged money laundering and fund diversion.

The announcement on September 5, 2025, escalates a crackdown on real estate fraud in Lagos, where Ogundele is accused of diverting client funds for personal use, following his 2024 arrest in a $325,000 scam.

Public reactions on social media highlight skepticism about enforcement and systemic corruption in Nigeria's elite, potentially reshaping trust in the property market.

Ogundele, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, is known for developing some of Lagos’ most exclusive high-end properties, especially in Ikoyi and Banana Island, with projects worth billions of naira.

Although the EFCC has not revealed the specific amount allegedly laundered or diverted, the declaration underscores the Commission’s intensified crackdown on high-profile private sector figures suspected of using real estate and luxury investments to launder illicit funds.

The anti-graft agency has consistently reiterated its commitment to tackling money laundering across all sectors, including politics, the civil service, and Nigeria’s booming luxury property market, which has been identified as a major conduit for concealing proceeds of corruption.

I’m not the begging type as I have a lot of things going on for myself. My sister joined her husband in Canada last year courtesy of her husband. Outside of the little 50k, 100k there that this man used to send to me (I don’t know how much he gives my parent — In law, by the way ), he’s never thought of establishing me in business or find a way for me to join my sister in Canada.

Even most times you have to remind him before he send the pittance he sent to me. Last week, I told him to find a way for me to join my sister in Canada, and he said he’s still paying for the debt he took for my sister to join him and he want to send her to school also. Meanwhile I didn’t know this. Okay then I can wait. After then I told him to find me a bulk sum so I can start some business. He asked how much and I said 5M naira would be enough, he cut the phone, called him back and send him msg on WhatsApp which he read and didn’t reply. I called my sister and told her what her husband did and she said she will talk to him.

My friend told me that, the school he is teaching, are looking for a physics teacher and he wants me to help him ask around, because since when the physics teacher in that school resigns, it has been months and still they have not found his replacement.

I asked him how much the school pays so that when I ask around I will tell the person everything, and my friend told me that the school will pay 85k per month.

I graduated from uni since 2019 and I have never done any kind of job, and this my friend is asking me to help him look for someone for his school to employ, I was suprised but I didnt say anything to him, after 3days I told him that I have gotten someone for the job and he told me to tell the guy to come to the school with his CV for interview. I didnt tell my friend that I will be the guy.
Today in the morning, I prepared and went to the school with my CV, on getting there I called my friend and he came and ask me where is the person, I told him its me, He said to me, why will you come for the interview while you know you cant teach physics, I told him in this era of AI, I can teach any subject.

All I want from him is to cover for me and never tell the principal that I did not study physics in school, he said no he cant do that for me.

I am very angry and want to cut ties with that friend of mine forever.
