If you are a literate you would know what i'm saying is the truth.

Subsidizing petrol is going to be in trillion and it will just keep that sector underdeveloped, with Nigeria dwindling revenues from crude oil, debt servicing, mismanagement of funds here and there. There's no way Nigeria won't go bankrupt and unable to pay even common salaries.

You won't know the benefits of removing fuel subsidy now, give it 3 years more you will understand. For Nigeria to move away from one place, Subsidy on petrol need to go.

When other refineries come on board and Dangote refineries is working at full capacity you will see the figures Nigeria will be churning out.
What is being looted from our treasury is much more than what is required to subsidize petrol. So why hasn't the country gone bankrupt?

Why must there be excuses when it benefits the poor?

Yes we know how corrupt they are but subsidising fuel and dollars plus other existing Subsidy on Electricity is going to cost trillions of naira plus other debts that Nigeria need to service and low revenues and other cankerworm of corruption at all level of government and sectors, it is just a matter of time before Nigeria enter bankruptcy.
If you are not benefiting from the loot, don't make excuses by claiming that subsidizing petrol will bankrupt Nigeria
PoliticsRe: FG Proposes Zero Percent VAT On Food, Education, Healthcare by Bobloco: 6:32pm On Nov 19, 2024
Emmanuel900:
You think it is so easy without Subsidy?

And where will you get the money from to subsidize fuel and dollars without Nigeria going bankrupt when Nigeria is already neck deep in debts ?
There's no money for subsidies, but there's money to loot and engage in frivolous and extravagant spending, such as acquiring a new presidential aircraft, buying a new all-black armored Cadillac Escalade SUV, and discarding the Mercedes Benz Maybach S-Class that Buhari used. There's money to buy a new presidential yacht and to fund senseless trips abroad, visiting hospitals in the UK and France for medical check-ups, yet they failed to build a world-class hospital in Lagos despite claims that they built the state from scratch.

PoliticsRe: Atiku's Aide Defends OBJ - Tinubu Cannot Tie The Shoelace Of The Ebora by Bobloco:
Tinubu cannot be mentioned in the same sentence as "Ebora of Owu" when integrity, competence, and capacity are discussed.

Tinubu is a notorious narcotics trafficker who forfeited over $400,000 in drug proceeds to the U.S. government. He is a certificate forger who claimed to have attended a school four years before it was established, and a buccaneering power grabber engaging in criminal state capture.

Today, Tinubu is president. Let him first surpass Buhari's achievements. Unfortunately, he cannot achieve that because the past eighteen months have shown that he is in a race to become the worst president Nigeria has ever had.

As Paul Ibe said, Tinubu cannot tie the shoelaces of the Ebora. Them no be mates.

I think he wants his second term unlike OBJ who was on his knees begging his VP for a second term. Egg heads would not give you the votes you need to secure that second term you need.
That's why I said he is not smart enough to differentiate between governance and politics.

Because he prioritizes politics over governance, he may secure a second term but will fail woefully in every sector of the Nigerian economy. His name will be written in infamy as the worst president Nigeria has ever had.

One thing I give Tinubu kudos for is the emphasis he uses in appointing ministers. He was not like OBJ who appointed technocrats and almost lost the ticket to run 2003

I think Tinubu is more smart and savvy when it comes to politics.
Tinubu is not smart enough to differentiate between governance and politics. In governance, you present technocrats to get things done. At some point, Tinubu's agents and BATerians touted that he was going to engage eggheads and the best brains, but unfortunately, that didn't happen.

The results are here for all to see; Tinubu is now reputed to be the worst president Nigeria has ever had.

PoliticsStop Reporting Police Misconduct On Social Media, IG Tells Nigerians by Bobloco(op): 3:40pm On Nov 19, 2024
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has urged Nigerians to refrain from using social media to report the conduct of police officers and instead direct such complaints to the Police Complaints Response Unit.

Speaking at the PPROs/Police Communication Experts’ Conference in Asaba, Delta State, on Monday, the IG emphasised that the use of social media to address grievances often leads to misinformation and undermines the integrity of the police force.

“We appeal to the public not to resort to social media when reporting the conduct of police officers but rather use the Police Complaints Response Unit,” Egbetokun said, stressing that such platforms provide a more structured and accountable process for addressing complaints.

He acknowledged the role social media plays in shaping public opinion but warned that unverified information could create false perceptions.

The IGP highlighted the importance of promoting transparency and accountability within the police force, and noted that the police consider the media a critical partner in this effort.

“I’m glad to address the PPROs/Police Communication Experts’ Conference. I thank the governor for hosting this conference. This conference is part of police reform, aimed at building trust and respect, which will, in turn, help us gain public trust,” he added.

Meanwhile, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, who opened the conference, also shared his insights on the challenges of policing in states like Delta and Lagos, pointing out the importance of countering misinformation and fostering effective communication between the police and the public.

“I want to thank the IGP for his good work,” Oborevwori said.

“As an officer who served in Lagos as CP, he is capable of policing Nigeria. Delta and Lagos States are very tough states to police; therefore, any officer who served in Delta or Lagos as CP will police Nigeria well,”
he added.

Both the IG and the governor underscored the need for public engagement, highlighting the role of Police Public Relations Officers in addressing misconceptions and showcasing the positive work of the police.

PoliticsTinubu Seeks Senate’s Approval Of Fresh ₦‎1.767 Trillion External Borrowing by Bobloco(op): 2:17pm On Nov 19, 2024
Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has written to the National Assembly to approve a fresh N1.767 trillion as a new external borrowing plan in the 2024 appropriation act.

According to the president, the loan is based on an exchange rate of N800 to $1.

Tinubu’s request was read by the speaker, Tajudeen Abbass, during plenary on Tuesday.

Accordingly, if approved, the loan will be used to part-finance the budget deficit of N9.7 trillion for the 2024 budget.

The president has also forwarded the MTEF/FSP 2025-2027 to parliament and the National Social Investment Programme establishment amendment bill to make the social register the primary tool for the implementation of the federal government’s social welfare programmes.

Last Thursday, the Federal Executive Council, FEC, approved a $2.2 billion external borrowing plan as part of the Federal Government’s 2024 Appropriation Act financing program.

With the latest move to get an additional $2.2 billion fresh borrowing plan, DAILY POST reports that Nigeria’s external debt may increase to $45.1 billion by the end of 2024.

This is as the Central Bank of Nigeria recently said the Federal Government spent $3.58 billion servicing the country’s foreign debt in the first nine months of 2024.

CBN’s data on international payment statistics showed that the amount represents a 39.77 per cent increase from the $2.56 billion spent during the same period in 2023.

According to the report, while the highest monthly debt servicing payment in 2024 occurred in May, amounting to $854.37m, the highest monthly expenditure in 2023 was $641.70m, recorded in July.

External debt for the states and the Federal Capital Territory also climbed from $4.61bn to $4.89bn within the period under review.

In another letter, the President asked the Senate for an Amendment to the National Social Investment Agency Act to make the social register the main source of data for all investment programmes.

India implemented the exact same policies Nigeria is carrying out. India removed fuel subsidies and increased taxes among other measures. Go on ChatGPT and tell it to compare Tinubu’s policies with Modi’s.

I did, and it’s virtually a carbon copy.
Yes, both removed subsidies, but their approaches differ.

Tinubu removed fuel subsidies by making a thoughtless and senseless statement: "Subsidy is gone," right on his swearing-in podium.

In contrast, Modi did not make such a reckless statement. Instead, he gradually removed fuel subsidies in India, transitioning to market-linked pricing to curb fiscal deficits and promote efficiency in the energy sector
