Politics › Enough Of Tinubu’s ‘Bolekaja’ Economic Policy Prescriptions – Atiku by Bobloco(op): 1:08am On Nov 05, 2024 |
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said Nigerians have had enough of President Bola Tinubu’s trial-and-error policies which has plunged the nation into its present predicament.
The Ex-Vice President advised the President and his team to admit its failures and be humble enough to realize that they cannot tax Nigerians out of the current economic quagmire.
Atiku said this in a statement he signed in Abuja on Monday.
He was responding to a statement credited to the Presidency claiming that an Atiku Presidency could have plunged Nigeria into deeper economic crisis than currently being experienced.
The Turakin Adamawa said, “I have taken note of the initial responses highlighting the striking disparity between President Tinubu’s faltering economic policies and the alternatives I have proposed.
“It is exciting to witness such a vigorous debate on these critical matters, and I sincerely hope that this discourse will ultimately benefit Nigeria and its citizens.
“Like many fellow Nigerians, I firmly believe that we find ourselves in this current economic turmoil due to the Tinubu administration’s hasty ascent to power, devoid of a coherent plan.
“In stark contrast, my team not only devised a comprehensive Recovery Plan, but also welcomed significant input from Nigerians, ensuring that our approach was inclusive and well-considered.
“Isn’t it fascinating how the so-called “tested” Tinubu administration’s only policy response seems to be a national prayer led by the First Lady and the NSA? Just mere 24 hours after I proposed my alternative solutions! What a bold strategy!
“In my humble interpretation of the scriptures, prayer indeed serves as a noble path to follow. However, the sacred texts also counsel us to engage in diligent labour and hard work.
“It is therefore uncharitable for Tinubu’s team to claim that my proposals remain untested. What remains unproven is the erratic, trial-and-error nature of the policies so far implemented by this administration, which elucidates our present predicament.
“Let us not forget that under our economic stewardship between 1999-2003, Nigeria soared to the pinnacle of Africa’s economies, while their administration has relegated us to a disheartening fourth position.
“The average GDP rate under the Obasanjo administration that I served in was 6.59% and peaked at 15% in 2002; 7.98% under the late Yar’Adua administration and 4.8% under Jonathan compared to the dismal 2.8% of the so-called “tested” Tinubu era. Enough of the pains of the shambolic “bolekaja” economic policy prescriptions!
“We cannot hope to tax our way out of the economic quagmire wrought by these misguided experimental policies of a novice administration. Numerous nations, such as the United Arab Emirates,
Qatar, and Monaco (an EU territory with a zero-income tax policy), among many others, have emerged as economic powerhouses by fostering growth through lower taxation. Why then are we fixated on inflicting further hardship upon an already struggling populace?
“One can only speculate that Tinubu’s government is anchored to a mere Tea-plan, which can only lead to a T-pain.
“Furthermore, let me emphasize that the citizens who cast their votes in the 2023 presidential election are well aware that I did not lose; rather, we find ourselves in this predicament because the election was criminally stolen from the Nigerian people.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/11/enough-of-tinubus-bolekaja-economic-policy-prescriptions-atiku/ |

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has stated that there is no going back on President Bola Tinubu’s reforms in the forex as well as the oil and gas sector.
Edun made the disclosure when he received the newly assigned minister of state for finance, Doris Uzoka Anite at the Ministry’s headquarters, on Monday.
Edun said, “Nigeria now have a foreign exchange rate that is market based and also a deregulated oil market pricing which are two reforms that are long overdue over many decades that President Tinubu is currently implementing.
“Therefore as co-ordinating minister of economy, we stand on a threshold of a new dawn to implement these reforms and increase productivity, create jobs and reducing poverty and we are glad to have a minister of state that will help in actualizing the President’s reforms.”
He added that consultation and collaboration is key to achieving these key reforms both from public and private sector, adding that ongoing economic policies are showing sustainability and sign of success.
In her response, the minister of state for finance, reiterated her commitment to work with stakeholders in both private and public sectors to ensure economic growth is materialized https://dailytrust.com/no-going-back-on-forex-subsidy-reforms-finance-minister/

Politics › Ondo Election: You’ve Destroyed Akeredolu’s Legacy – Ajayi Slams Aiyedatiwa by Bobloco(op): 12:46pm On Nov 04, 2024 |
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 16, 2024, Ondo State governorship election, Agboola Ajayi, has accused the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, of destroying the legacy of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu as it concerns the Amotekun security outfit.
He made the allegations during the Ondo State Governorship election debate put together by Channels Television on Sunday.
DAILY POST reports that the governorship election in the state will be held on November 16, 2024 with the two former Deputy Governors as main contenders.
According to the PDP candidate, security in the state has deteriorated under Aiyedatiwa who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC.
“What we have put in now in Ondo State (Amotekun) under the late governor, not just us but the entire South-West region, we looked at what was happening then, kidnapping here and there, and said what can we do?
“I must give it to our late boss, he had the courage and boldness to say we must establish Amotekun which is more or less a state police arrangement. But unfortunately these days, that legacy is almost destroyed by the incumbent governor,” Ajayi said.
Ajayi was the deputy governor to Akeredolu during the late governor’s first term in office.
He said that he contributed to the formation of the security corps.
According to him, Aiyedatiwa does not know the pain they went through to ensure the establishment of Amotekun and for this reason, does not care about improving the outfit.
The APC candidate promised that if elected, he would strengthen the security with modern security gadgets and equipment so that they could favourably compete with any security outfit in the world. https://dailypost.ng/2024/11/04/ondo-election-youve-destroyed-akeredolus-legacy-ajayi-slams-aiyedatiwa/
