PoliticsTinubu Promised Renewed Hope With Nothing To Sustain It - Onaiyekan by Bobloco(op): 3:08am On Jul 12, 2025
......Nigerians hopeless, hungry than before

He said, “15 to 20 years ago, Nigeria was poor but not hungry. Today, unfortunately, Nigerians are hungry.”

Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, has urged the nation’s leaders to tackle hunger and poverty, saying economic statistics alone do not reflect the harsh reality faced by many Nigerians.

Mr Onaiyekan said this in a homily at Rev. Fr. Maurice Emelu’s 20th priestly ordination and 50th birthday celebration at the Church of Immaculate Conception, Umuchima in Ideato South Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo.

He said, “15 to 20 years ago, Nigeria was poor but not hungry. Today, unfortunately, Nigerians are hungry.”

Mr Onaiyekan said that rather than focus on the big statistics that Nigeria’s economy was doing well, “leaders should focus on alleviating hunger and poverty in the land”.

He said, “This promise of a better future and, therefore, we should accept the difficulties around us is not acceptable.

“Our politicians are talking of renewed hope, with little or nothing to sustain such hope, which for many has turned into hopelessness.

“There is a growing burden of poverty in our nation, a tragic irony in a nation richly blessed by God. President Bola Tinubu should not just listen to his advisers, but should come down and eat with the poor to feel their pains.”

Mr Onaiyekan advocated renewed collaboration between the church and government to improve public services for all.

In a speech, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, said Nigeria was currently passing through a difficult period.

Mr Obi, who joined other dignitaries to serve food to the guests present, expressed a desire for a Nigeria where collective well-being was prioritised.

“This is the way we want our society to be, a society where people care for the needy. We want more of Fr. Maurice and individuals who care for the poor,” he said.

Just keep kwayet if you don't have anything meaningful to say. How can you see an injustice and not speak about it? If PDP had zoned the presidential ticket to the south will we have a Tinubu presidency? Atiku has been clog in the wheel of any meaningful political progress in Nigeria since 2015. He should rest IJN
Kindly spare us the selective outrage. Where was all this righteous indignation in 2015 when Tinubu and his allies deliberately sabotaged the South’s chance at an unbroken 8-year presidency by teaming up to remove Jonathan? Whose "turn" was it then? Or do turns only matter when it favors your camp?

You can't rewrite history just to suit your current narrative. If injustice truly bothers you, start by holding everyone including Tinubu accountable. Until then, miss us with the fake moral high ground. Your hypocrisy is showing.
PoliticsTinubu’s Govt Lied; New Visa Policy About Nigeria’s Security Crisis: U.S. Govt by Bobloco(op): 10:21pm On Jul 11, 2025
The U.S Mission claimed that the visa reduction for Nigerians was not linked to any nation’s stance on third-country deportees.

The U.S. Mission Nigeria has claimed that new visa restrictions against Nigerians are not linked with President Bola Tinubu’s participation at the 2025 BRICS summit last week nor Nigeria’s refusal to accept deported Venezuelan convicts and illegals.

The foreign mission in a statement on Friday stated that the single entry three-month visa policy was activated as a security measure to “safeguard U.S. immigration systems,” adding that the policy might be reconsidered if Nigeria can fortify its weak immigration systems to meet global standards.

The statement comes a day after Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar said Nigeria declined an offer from Washington to accommodate Venezuelan prisoners and illegals. President Donald Trump first floated the idea of offloading illegal immigrants to third-party nations and had begun approaching nations such as Libya and Sudan with deportation offers.

Mr Tuggar suggested that U.S. additional 10 per cent tariffs on nations in alliance with BRICS might not have been the only factor considered in reducing the validity of U.S. non-immigrant visas for Nigerians.

The minister said Nigeria has enough problems of its own and is unable to accommodate criminals and illegals from other nations.

The minister’s statement ignited debates on social media where netizens claimed Washington cannot accept Nigeria’s rejection of Venezuelan prisoners and retaliated by restricting their access to the U.S.

But the American Mission in Nigeria denied the allegation.

“This reduction is not the result of any nation’s stance on third-country deportees, introduction of e-visa policies, or affiliations with groups like BRICS,” stated the U.S. Mission in Nigeria. “The reduction in validity is part of an ongoing global review of the use of U.S. visas by other countries using technical and security benchmarks to safeguard U.S. immigration systems.”

It is nobody's turn rather it is the turn of Nigerians to reclaim their country from the grip of a regime built on deception, forged credentials, identity fraud, and an insatiable lust for power. What we are witnessing is not leadership, but a blatant attempt at state capture. Under this administration, Nigerians have endured nothing but hunger, hardship, insecurity, and economic collapse. .....replies Presidency

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has thrown its weight behind Vice President Kashim Shettima’s remark that the President does not have the power to remove an elected Governor.

DAILY POST reports that the VP had on Thursday while recounting how former President Goodluck Jonathan tried to remove him as governor of Borno State, said the President lacks the power to remove an elected Governor.

His remark came amid the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.

The Presidency had in a statement earlier on Friday said the VP’s remark had no link to the Rivers State crisis. But ADC described the rebuttal was “a mere attempt at political correctness”.

In a statement released by Interim National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party emphasized that the truth must not be lost in the fog of political correctness, highlighting that the VP needs to stand by his forthright and courageous statement.

According to the ADC, the statement affirmed that President Tinubu doesn’t have the constitutional power to remove an elected councilor, not to talk of a sitting governor.

Part of the statement reads, “For avoidance of doubts, the breakdown of law and order that the presidency has deployed as pretext to overthrow democratic order in Rivers State is nothing compared with the rampaging scourge of Boko Haram that abducted more than 200 school girls in Chibok, Borno state, slaughtered school boys in Buni Yadi, Yobe State and challenged the very sovereignty of Nigeria.

“Yet, in declaring a state of emergency in the affected states under these dire circumstances, President Jonathan recognized the limits of his constitutional powers and he respected it
.

“This was the truth that the Vice President reminded us of at the Book Launch of former Attorney General, Mohammed Bello Adoke on Thursday. It was not faux pas, it was not Freudian slip, it was the truth anchored on the facts of history

“In this regard, the ADC therefore calls on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately restore democratic governance in Rivers State, cease all illegal interference in the affairs of the state, and halt the unconstitutional actions that have upended democratic rule in that state.

“We further demand that the President tenders an unreserved apology to the Nigerian people for this abuse of power and the blatant disregard for constitutional order that has played out under his watch

PoliticsMark, Others Assure ADC State Chairmen Of Role In Anti-Tinubu Coalition by Bobloco(op): 2:09am On Jul 11, 2025
The National Working Committee of the African Democratic Congress, led by Interim National Chairman Senator David Mark, has assured the party’s state chairmen of their full inclusion in the opposition coalition seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

This assurance was given during a meeting held on Thursday at the Abuja residence of the interim chairman.

The meeting brought together the ADC NWC, state chairmen, and selected stakeholders.

Recall that on July 2, 2023, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Dumebi Kachikwu, alongside some state chairmen, accused Mark and interim National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, of being imposed on the party, alleging they planned to oust some state chairmen.

However, speaking after the meeting, the party’s Interim National Spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, reaffirmed the leadership’s commitment to working closely with the state chapters.

He stated, “We have invited all the state chairmen to this meeting to reassure them that we don’t have any intention to push them away. Thirty-seven state chairmen, including that of the FCT, were present.

“The purpose is to dispel all kinds of falsehood and rumours circulating around the country—that we have come to take over this party and push them aside.

"We don’t have any such intention. We are here to work with them as partners to build a stronger political party. “They are assured and will leave Abuja today more confident than they were yesterday that they are partners in this coalition-building process.”

Reacting to the comments made by Kachikwu, who had rejected the coalition and criticised the emergence of the new party leadership, Abdullahi said, “A presidential candidate is not an officer of the party. He is just a member. We are on solid legal ground, and if anyone has evidence that we violated our constitution, we are open to being challenge. No ADC member has disagreed with the process so far.”

Also speaking, ADC Forum Chairman and Kogi State Chairman, Kingsley Ogga, said they had been part of the coalition discussions from the beginning.

We have been on this process for almost three years. We have been carried along on what they planned to do and how they intended to do it.

“We sat down together, deliberated together—that is how we reached this point. Everyone was carried along, and we support what is coming up now,” he said.

Other key figures present at the meeting included former Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, and former PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, among others

PoliticsADC: Coup Allegation Part Of Plot To Silence Opposition by Bobloco(op): 12:53am On Jul 11, 2025
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned a statement credited to the Presidency alleging that opposition parties are plotting to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration before the 2027 general election.

Reacting to a post by presidential adviser Bayo Onanuga, the ADC described the claim as “reckless and malicious,” warning that it may be a pretext to suppress dissent and intimidate political opponents.

Onanuga had written on X (formerly Twitter) that “haters of Nigeria’s progress are banding together to overthrow an administration that has been the most focused, most transformative in our history.” He referenced former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who warned that Tinubu’s reforms would not be easy and should not be misrepresented.

In a statement issued Wednesday in Abuja, ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi said Onanuga’s post was a “textbook example of a political dog whistle,” intended to criminalise opposition activities under the guise of national security.

“The ADC is not interested in truncating democracy. We are committed to rescuing Nigeria through democratic means, not by force. We don’t have bullets; we only have the ballot,” Abdullahi said.

He warned that such baseless allegations could signal a broader campaign of repression against opposition leaders and erode the foundations of Nigeria’s democracy.

“We wonder why the APC is so jittery. This is the first opposition party to assume power in Nigeria, yet now finds the existence of opposition unacceptable,” he added.

The ADC urged President Tinubu to caution his aides against making inflammatory statements that could further heat the polity.

“The president must resist the temptation to cry wolf where there is none. It only betrays a sense of panic and undermines his democratic credentials,” the party said.

The coalition also called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and resist any efforts to delegitimise the opposition. It urged the international community to monitor the political environment and hold the government accountable for any actions that threaten democratic freedoms.

“The ADC remains committed to building a better Nigeria through peace, participation, and the power of the people,” the statement added.

PoliticsFG Urges APC States To Amplify Renewed Hope Agenda At Grassroots by Bobloco(op): 12:43am On Jul 11, 2025
The Federal Government has called on commissioners of information in All Progressives Congress (APC)-controlled states to intensify efforts in communicating the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda at the sub-national level.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the call on Thursday in Minna, Niger State, at the opening of a two-day Conference of Commissioners for Information in APC States, organized by the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF). The theme of the event was “Strategic Communication and Policy Alignment.”

Idris said President Tinubu has been implementing a well-defined Eight-Point Agenda aimed at economic revitalization, national development, and inclusive growth.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented Nigerians with a well-thought-out Eight-Point Renewed Hope Agenda, and that agenda is being implemented with discipline, prudence, and a strong commitment to national development,” the minister stated.

He cited the removal of fuel subsidy as a bold but necessary reform, adding that it has helped redirect funds toward major infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Superhighway, Kaduna-Kano Standard Gauge Railway, and others.

Idris emphasized that increased federal allocations to states have enabled them to implement transformative projects across critical sectors like education, health, and agriculture. He urged commissioners to ensure that citizens understand and benefit from these reforms.

“You are the voice and face of government in your states. You must return with renewed energy, facts, and strategies to communicate government efforts effectively,” Idris told the commissioners.

He also encouraged the use of platforms like the National Orientation Agency (NOA), data-driven campaigns, and engagement with grassroots stakeholders, including traditional rulers, youth groups, and market associations.

“President Tinubu is keeping faith with Nigerians. It is now your duty to translate that faith into action and renewed hope at the grassroots,” he added.

Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Bago, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Gawu, applauded the PGF for organizing the event, noting that effective communication is key to public trust.

“In our present context, governance is not only measured by policies or infrastructure, but by how effectively they are conveyed to the people. Strategic communication is the oxygen of sustainable leadership,” Bago said.

Highlighting the progress across APC-governed states, he said they are delivering measurable, people-focused results in areas such as digital transformation, education, health, and infrastructure.

Earlier, Director General of the Progressives Governors Forum, Folorunso Aluko, underscored the critical role of information managers in shaping public narratives.

He announced a proposed FG-PGF Media Policy and Strategy Synergy — a framework to harmonize communication between the Federal Ministry of Information and APC states. The initiative includes a joint media coordination platform, a national communication calendar, a shared media content repository, and a rapid-response mechanism.

“This is not just procedural; it is transformative,” Aluko said, stressing the importance of coordinated messaging in delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda to all Nigerians.

After paying N15 trillion to Chagoury’s company for Lagos-Calabar road, Tinubu secures additional N1.2 trillion loan for same highway

The ministry said the highway reflected a commitment to long-term resilience and efficiency.

The federal government has announced a $747 million loan facility secured to finance Phase 1 Section 1 of the Lagos-Calabar highway.

In a statement on Tuesday, the director of information and public relations at the ministry of finance, Mohammed Manga, said the loan was arranged by Deutsche Bank, stating it was the first syndicated road infrastructure loan of its size in the country.

“The facility is a strong signal of global investor confidence in the country’s reform trajectory and infrastructure pipeline,” the statement said.

It added, “Deutsche Bank acted as Global Coordinator, Initial Mandated Lead Arranger and Bookrunner and participated in the syndicate, alongside other regional and international lenders.”

The ministry further said the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC) provided partial political and commercial risk insurance.

According to the ministry, the syndicate includes support from development finance institutions, export credit agencies and international commercial banks—notably First Abu Dhabi Bank, also acting as agent across all facilities and Intercreditor Agent, whose involvement underscores its strong and growing support for Nigeria.

“Other lenders involved are the African Export-Import Bank (“Afrexim”), the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (“ADEX”), the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (“EBID”), Nexent Bank N.V. (formerly known as Credit Europe Bank N.V.) and Zenith Bank (through its UK, Paris and Nigeria offices). The project is structured as an EPC+F (Engineering, Procurement, Construction + Financing) contract awarded to Hitech Construction Company, one of Nigeria’s leading infrastructure firms,” the statement continued.

Noting that the loan structure aimed at a strategic partnership between the government and the private sector, seamlessly aligning technical execution with financing solutions, the ministry said the highway reflected a commitment to long-term resilience and efficiency.

The new loan announcement came months after the federal government awarded the coastal highway to Hitech Construction Company Ltd, a company owned by President Bola Tinubu’s ally Gilbert Chagoury, for over N15 trillion, drawing criticism from Nigerians over the procurement process.

Speaking on the deal, minister of works, Dave Umahi, said the mega project was awarded to Mr Chagoury’s company based on its experience in concrete paving and its successful bid for subsequent project sections.

Mr Umahi noted the contract’s procurement process followed due process, adding the company Mr Chagoury had previously handled the reconstruction of the Oworonshoki-Apapa Road, which demonstrated its capability in concrete road construction.

PoliticsTinubu Will Be Removed By Votes Not Bullets – ADC Replies Presidency by Bobloco(op): 7:21am On Jul 10, 2025
...... over ‘overthrow’ comment

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, on Wednesday said President Bola Tinubu will be removed through the ballot and not bullets.

It dismissed insinuations that the coalition is interested in truncating democracy in Nigeria.

ADC’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, accused Tinubu of laying the foundation for a clampdown on opposition leaders.

He made the remark in response to a tweet by Tinubu’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, who alleged that the opposition was planning to overthrow the President.

Onanuga had said the coalition had ganged up to overthrow Tinubu’s administration.

Rubbishing Onanuga’s comment, Abdullahi described his remark as reckless and unsubstantiated.

In a statement he signed, Abdullahi said Onanuga’s comment shows that Tinubu’s administration is out to intimidate and repress opposition political leaders in Nigeria.

He noted that ADC would explore Democratic means to ensure Tinubu’s removal from office and not by overthrowing him.

The statement reads partly: “ADC condemned the tweet made by an aide of President Bola Tinubu, Onanuga, which alleges that the opposition is planning to overthrow the Tinubu government before 2027.

“If anything, it potentially lays the grounds for systematic clampdown on opposition leaders.

“The ADC is not interested in truncating democracy, we are solely committed to saving the nation from the irredeemable incompetence of this government. We are not soldiers, we are politicians.

“We don’t have bullets; we only have the ballots. When the time comes, we will only present our solutions and an alternative vision of the future to the Nigerian people and leave them to make their choice.”

Don’t fight, insult anyone, only amplify inflation, poverty under Tinubu: Aregbesola

Mr Aregbesola urged ADC supporters and members to articulate their position clearly and confidently.

A former governor of Osun State and interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, has urged supporters of the coalition party not to fight or insult anyone but continue to amplify unprecedented high cost of living, poverty and economic hardships under President Bola Tinubu.

A protege of Mr Tinubu turned political adversary, Mr Aregbesola made this call in a statement in a post on Friday, shortly after supporters and members of the ADC received him in Lagos.

He said, “The task before us is immense, and I reminded everyone that we do not need to fight, insult, or attack anyone. When others resort to abuse or name-calling, we must rise above it. Instead, ask them one simple question: Are Nigerians better off today than they were before? Challenge them with facts – on food inflation, the economy, the rising cost of living, and the deepening poverty affecting millions. Let our debates remain focused on the issues that matter.”

Mr Aregbesola urged ADC supporters and members to articulate their “position clearly and confidently. Explain why our new political home, the ADC, represents a credible and necessary alternative for Nigeria’s progress and long-term sustainability.”

On Tuesday, the coalition of opposition politicians announced adoption of the ADC as the party to challenge Mr Tinubu in 2027.

The coalition, which includes former vice president Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Anambra State governor Peter Obi and former Senate President David Mark, announced Messrs Mark and Aregbesola, as its national chairman and national secretary, respectively.

PoliticsADC Coalition, Alliance Of Displaced Politicians — Presidency by Bobloco(op): 6:39am On Jul 04, 2025
ABUJA — Following the takeover of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, by leading opposition figures, the Presidency, yesterday, mocked the newly-formed opposition coalition, describing it as a hollow alliance of displaced politicians.

Also, the All Progressives Congress, APC, described the ADC as a coalition of self-obsessed merchants of vendetta, saying it remains unperturbed by the development.

Similarly, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr. Nyesom Wike slammed the anti-Tinubu coalition, describing them as a gang of failed and expired politicians.

This came as the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi has given his full support for the coalition, aimed at ending President Bola Tinubu’s rule in 2027.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, clarified that it has not officially joined any coalition, but remains open to collaborating with ‘like-minded citizens’ to challenge the APC in the 2027 general elections.

Also, the Senator Nenadi Usman-led Labour Party, LP, has urged Nigerians to discountenance a purported 48-hour ultimatum given to the party’s leader, Peter Obi, to resign or face expulsion.
Meantime, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the ADC, Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu, yesterday, gave conditions to support the coalition.

It will be recalled that members of the anti-Tinubu coalition formally took over the structure of ADC as its political platform for the 2027 general elections.

The coalition, however, selected former Senate President, Senator David Mark and former Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, to lead the ADC as its Interim National Chairman and Secretary respectively.

However, reacting to the takeover, the Presidency dismissed comparisons between the ADC and the 2013 merger that birthed the APC, describing it as a desperate and self-serving power grab.

Political desperados

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, described its promoters as political “desperados” driven not by ideology or national interest but by personal ambition and bitterness towards President Tinubu.

Dare, in a statement posted on his verified X handle (@SunsayDareSD), stated that most of the figures now aligning with the ADC had long distanced themselves from the APC some even before the 2023 general elections.

He wrote: “Rotimi Amaechi’s soul left the APC in 2022 after he lost the presidential primary to President Tinubu. Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney-General, has also not hidden his detachment from the APC since the president emerged, especially after his failed bid to govern Kebbi State.

“These are not people of principle or vision. They are desperate men and women who cannot bear political obscurity. Their only bond is animosity towards President Tinubu, not a shared ideology or developmental blueprint for the country.

“A political party built on nothing more than shared resentment cannot move Nigeria forward. Nigerians must not be misled. This is a coalition of convenience that will only set the country back by decades.”

The presidential aide urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, describing the ADC-led movement as a fragile platform that offers no real alternative and is destined to unravel in due course.

“What we are seeing is not a credible force for change, but a gathering of the politically displaced, seeking relevance by any means possible,” he stated.

We’re undisturbed, APC reacts
APC spokesman, Felix Morka, yesterday, said: “While coalition members remain preoccupied swimming in mud and throwing bricks, our great party and President Tinubu remain undisturbed and focused on using all available bricks to building a stronger, enduring and more prosperous nation for this and future generations of Nigerians.

“ADC is a gasping whimper, not the roar that its promoters loudly touted.

“In reality, it was an unveiling of a coalition of hoaxers and self-obsessed merchants of vendetta, a roll call of Nigeria’s me-or-nothing politicians, who equate their selfish interest with the interest of Nigerians, who cannot bear to be out of the corridors of power and patronage, who are desperate to grab power for themselves by guile and subterfuge, who lay claim to an immoral birthright to power, even while draped in odious record of betrayal of public trust, and rapacious public service.

“From beginning to end, Senator Mark said nothing about the purpose of the so-called coalition other than a loud declaration of desperation for power. What value does the coalition bring to Nigerians? Why should any Nigerian be concerned about the coalition of a bunch of egotistical maniacs for whom power and patronage are the oxygen on which their lives depend?

“One would have expected that, after months of vacillating between the devil and the deep blue sea, in search of a host platform, Senator Mark and his co-travelers would take Nigerians seriously enough by telling them what their coalition would do differently regarding the administration’s bold economic and sectoral policy reforms.

“What key alternative policy approaches would the coalition implement, and with what prospects of success compared to the high value and transformative impact of the administration’s reform policies? What exactly is the philosophical or ideological leaning of the coalition or its new party, aside from desperation for power at all cost, by all means necessary and unnecessary?

“They must think Nigerians to be gullible and uncritical. Quite to the contrary, Nigerians are highly perceptive and discerning and will not be taken in by the coalition’s grand folly.

“This desperation is the reason for their willful blindness to the massive structural transformation of our country’s economy that has earned the praise and admiration of local and global economic experts, and now delivering improved living conditions and benefits to our people,” APC stated.

ADC, a coalition of failed politicians — Wike

On his part, the FCT Minister, Mr. Wike said the coalition leaders have nothing to offer to Nigerians.

He said: “I heard David Mark say they want to rescue Nigeria. That Nigerians are not happy, but the man was Senate President for eight years and Nigerians were happy?

“There was no single project in Otukpo. Not one. He was flying with a helicopter to Otukpo. Nigerians were not angry then but they are angry now.

“Rotimi Amaechi was a minister. He took Chinese loans and made Nigeria to be so much indebted to China.

“When you were in power Nigerians were happy but the moment you are no longer in power, Nigerians are no longer happy.

“I saw Sirika. What happened to Air Nigeria? Nigerians were happy then?

“When they went to APC in 2013 and took over power, Nigerians were happy but no longer happy today?
“Was it under Tinubu’s government that banditry came? What is he doing? To solve the problems he met.
“I read what Abubakar Malami wrote. It was so shameful. He was Attorney-General of the Federation. What did he do? What was his contribution to resolving the security challenges?

“Aminu Tambuwal was speaker for four years. What did he do to make Nigerians not to be angry? He was governor for eight years. What did he do? What kind of politics are we playing?”

He also said that with the exit of Rotimi Amaechi and others from the PDP, buccaneers and vampires have now left the opposition party.

Speaking during a media chat in Abuja, Wike said: “I spoke with the leadership of the PDP on Wednesday. I told them to use this opportunity. The buccaneers have left. The vampires who never meant well for the party have left.

“Look at all the areas that we lost. I saw Inna Ciroma on TV two days ago talking. Ask her since 1999, have we won Yobe? No. So, what are they saying? PDP has mainly been sustained by the South-South and then the South-East.

“I saw Emeka Ihedioha. What happened? Because Sam Anyanwu was not removed as Secretary, he now left. So, that is why Nigerians are angry? Those are personal issues that you could not contend with; that somebody out-manoeuvred you, then you will go and say Nigerians are angry? Just say you have been defeated in that place. Don’t push it to Nigerians. Let us take the issue of Nigeria very seriously.

“What is the threat posed by the ADC? You said with Atiku and Peter Obi, what do you mean by that? Why not say that Wike was not there with them? So, you think they are stronger than me? Why don’t you say, with Wike not there means the coalition has failed.”

Only a formidable coalition can salvage Nigeria — Peter Obi
But Mr. Peter Obi explained that it is a fact that no single group can change Nigeria alone, hence the need for people to come together to pursue the goal.

Obi, who took to his verified X handle, wrote, “Yesterday (Wednesday), the coalition members formally adopted the ADC, for the 2027 general elections with Senator Mark serving as the National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola serving as the National Secretary.

“Our commitment is to sacrifice and work together towards the 2027 general elections, ensuring that Nigeria gets a competent, capable, and compassionate leadership that will prioritise the nation’s future by putting the welfare of Nigerians first.

“This decision was not made lightly. It comes from deep reflection on where we are as a country and what must be done to move forward.

“No one group can change Nigeria alone. To dismantle the structures that keep our people in poverty and insecurity, we must build bridges, not walls even when those bridges are uneasy. A new Nigeria is possible.”

Abure-led LP gives Obi 48 hours to leave party
But the Julius Abure-led faction of the LP has given Obi 48 hours within which to formally resign from the party or risk expulsion.

The faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, in a statement, said: “We are aware of several nocturnal meetings between Peter Obi and some of our members, lobbying them to join him in his new party. We’re also aware that a number of them have refused to defect with him.

“Labour Party has consistently said it is not part of the coalition and therefore, any of our members who is part of the coalition is given within 48 hours to formally resign his membership of the party.

“Labour Party is not available for people with dual agenda, people with deceptive persona. The party will not avail itself to individuals who have one leg in one party and another leg elsewhere.

“These people are opportunistic politicians who are only interested in re-launching themselves into the circle of power, people who are desperate to continue holding on to power.

“The new Nigeria of our dream can only be realized through the Labour Party and the party is willing to lead Nigerians along that trajectory.”

Ultimatum to Obi mischievous — LP
In a swift response, the Senator Nenadi Usman-led LP, yesterday, urged Nigerians to disregard a purported 48-hour ultimatum given to the party’s leader, Peter Obi, to resign or face expulsion.

In a statement by Ken Eluma Asogwa, the Senior Special Assistant (Media), to the acting National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, dismissed the ultimatum given by the Abure-led faction, as mischievous.

The statement reads: “The attention of the Labour Party has been drawn to misleading reports and commentaries suggesting that Mr. Peter Obi has been issued a 48-hour ultimatum to resign from the party following his participation in the recent coalition talks and the unveiling of the ADC, in Abuja.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the leadership of the Labour Party, on May 26, 2025, publicly declared its full support for Mr. Obi’s involvement in the coalition efforts aimed at creating a robust political alternative to rescue Nigeria from the disastrous misrule of the APC. That position has not changed.

“We wish to reaffirm that Mr. Obi’s participation in the coalition activities, including the ADC unveiling, was done with the full knowledge, approval, and support of the Labour Party leadership.

“The individuals claiming to have issued an ultimatum to Mr. Obi are political jesters with no legitimate standing in the Labour Party.

“They are neither recognised by the party nor by the law, having long been sacked by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, the highest court in the land and suspended from the party for their serial acts of indiscipline and anti-party activities.”

We’re open to ‘like-minded’ allies —PDP
Meanwhile, the PDP, yesterday, clarified that it has not officially joined any coalition, but remains open to collaborating with ‘like-minded citizens’ to challenge the APC in the 2027 general elections.

The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba said it is currently focused on internal consolidation, unifying its ranks, and preparing for its forthcoming national convention.

The statement reads: “For the avoidance of doubt, the NWC states in clear terms that the PDP has not taken any official position on the issue of coalition.

“Our party is currently working conscientiously towards a successful national convention, which will further revamp and re-position the PDP for the task ahead.

“Nevertheless, as a major opposition party with a very strong presence and bond with Nigerians across the country, the PDP restates that it remains open to working with other well-meaning, like-minded citizens in the collective effort to rescue our nation from the stranglehold of the rudderless and insensitive APC-led administration.”

PDP politicians leaving party carcass to Wike, cronies – Dele Momodu
Similarly, a chieftain of the PDP, Mr. Dele Momodu, has said that some top members of the party have decided to leave the party for the FCT Minister, Wike, to join the new opposition coalition.

Momodu, who was featured on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, said: “Without any doubt, people are leaving the carcass of PDP to Wike and his cronies, that’s all. It was a prophecy foretold.

“The ruling party does not want competition in 2027, so, what they are doing now is to send their moles into any major formidable party.”

Momodu said that not even the coalition that brought Mohammadu Buhari to power in 2015 was as powerful as the new coalition.

“I have never seen that kind of coalition, even when we were doing coalition for Buhari in 2014 and 2015, it was not this powerful and impactful.

“What I saw on Wednesday rekindled my hope in Nigeria that Nigerians will not sit down and allow one man to hijack the country,” Momodu said.

Kachikwu gives conditions to accept ADC-coalition
Meanwhile, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the ADC, Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu has challenged the promoters of the anti-Tinubu coalition to be courageous enough to announce that the party will field a southern presidential candidate in the next election.

Kachikwu, who gave fresh conditions to back the Senator David Mark-led interim ADC coalition, said he was ready to accept the coalition if his conditions were met.

Addressing journalists yesterday in Abuja, Kachikwu said: “I challenge the coalition to make a pronouncement and be bold and say that the presidential candidate of the coalition in 2027 will come from the South; then we will welcome them.

“These people are being sponsored against us Nigerians, they are all friends, they attend the same meetings, weddings, and parties, they are all old friends. We are all victims of an unjust system, Atiku and Tinubu are not my problem, their generation is my problem.”

Asked if the political positions had already been shared among top members of the coalition, the publisher responded negatively, adding that coalition members already knew what would likely happen, but they wouldn’t let it divide them.

“I believe that, in principle, they know what is likely to happen, and they’ve decided they’ve promised that they will not allow that to divide them, right. That for me is joyful. I’m excited,” he said

Here we go with those with half knowledge about president Tinubu's trip to Saint Lucia.

Saint Lucia might be a small country but they are wealthy. Also they amongnst the Caribbean countries like ECOWAS with high volume GDP in combination. Nigeria is not only eyeing trade and economy partner with saint Lucia but other Caribbean countries around
Nobody is questioning international diplomacy, what we’re questioning is misplaced priorities. President Tinubu is granting scholarships to Saint Lucian students to study in Nigeria, while public schools in Abuja have been shut for months due to teachers unpaid salaries. He’s promising to send Nigerian doctors to Saint Lucia when our hospitals are short-staffed, under-equipped, and patients are dying due to lack of care.

Saint Lucia might be small and wealthy, sure, but leadership is about fixing your house before decorating someone else’s. Nigerians didn’t elect a global ambassador; we elected a president to solve our problems. Jet-setting doesn’t equal progress when your country is burning. Let's not confuse PR stunts with meaningful governance.

PoliticsWhat Is This With Tinubu And The Country Called Saint Lucia? by Bobloco(op): 9:19pm On Jul 03, 2025
In a series of baffling decisions that have left many Nigerians scratching their heads, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s growing interest in the Caribbean nation of Saint Lucia is raising serious questions and concerns.

It all started with the announcement that the Nigerian government, under Tinubu’s directive, had granted scholarships to Saint Lucian students to come and study in Nigeria. The irony? Public schools in Abuja the capital and Tinubu’s own seat of power have been shut for months due to unpaid teachers' salaries. Students in the Federal Capital Territory have been left idle, with no end in sight

Before the dust from that controversy could settle, another move followed: the planned export of Nigerian doctors to Saint Lucia. This comes at a time when Nigeria’s healthcare system is severely overstretched. Across the country, public hospitals are plagued by a chronic shortage of medical personnel. Long queues, overwhelmed doctors, and under-equipped facilities have become the norm. Patients are often left unattended for hours, sometimes days due to the glaring lack of qualified hands.

The question on many lips is simple: why is President Tinubu prioritizing Saint Lucia over urgent domestic crises?

Critics argue that these moves signal a disturbing detachment from the real issues affecting everyday Nigerians. While diplomatic relations and international cooperation are vital in a globalized world, they cannot and should not come at the expense of citizens' basic rights to education and healthcare.

For a nation grappling with underfunded schools, a brain-drained health sector, and widespread economic hardship, the optics of sending doctors to saint Lucia and offering scholarships to foreign nationals are troubling. Nigerians are asking: What exactly is the nature of this newfound relationship with Saint Lucia? And more importantly, who does it benefit?

Until these questions are answered and urgent domestic problems addressed, Tinubu's Saint Lucia diplomacy may continue to be seen not as visionary, but as misplaced priority.

Politics2027: Mark’s ADC Plots Atiku’s Candidacy – Kachikwu by Bobloco(op): 4:14pm On Jul 03, 2025
:

The African Democratic Congress 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, said the faction of the party led by former Senate President David Mark was deliberately structured to produce former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the 2027 presidential flag bearer.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Kachikwu said the group told him during their meeting that their main interest was reclaiming power.

He dared the coalition leaders to prove him wrong by publicly declaring that the 2027 presidential ticket would be zoned to the South.

Dumebi stated, “The Coalition was engineered and designed to produce Atiku Abubakar as the standard flag bearer. If not, I challenge them to make a statement that the ADC 2027 Presidential ticket is for Southerners.

“All they were saying during my meeting with them was that they wanted to take their power back.”

To start with, are you or your family currently living in an abject poverty?

Answering that question will let me know how to respond to you properly
This is exactly the problem, instead of engaging with facts or addressing the failures I pointed out, you're asking irrelevant personal questions. Whether I live in poverty or not doesn't change the reality that millions of Nigerians do, under the same government you're defending. Stop trying to dodge accountability with emotional baiting, address the issues or keep quiet.
