PoliticsMany Injured As Hoodlums Disrupt LP-ADC Defection Event In Lagos by Bobloco(op): 10:05am On Feb 01
Activities marking the defection of members of the Labour Party, LP, in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, were violently disrupted on Saturday after unidentified hoodlums invaded the venue.

The event, jointly organised by LP and ADC to publicly acknowledge the movement of party members, was first scheduled to hold at the LP secretariat in Idimu.

However, chaos erupted when more than 100 suspected thugs reportedly stormed the premises, forcing party members and officials to flee.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers, some armed with knives, canes and other dangerous objects, assaulted individuals they encountered during the invasion.

The assailants were also heard chanting hostile slogans, declaring that LP and ADC were not welcome in Lagos State.

Several party members sustained injuries in the process, while party property, including furniture and flags, was vandalised.

Despite the disruption, officials of both parties quickly relocated the programme to an alternative venue, the Eco Centre Event Hall in Egbeda, in a bid to continue the ceremony.

Speaking on the incident, the LP Chairman in Alimosho, Mr Olanrewaju Olushola, popularly known as Heritage, condemned the attack, describing it as unprovoked and alarming, especially with the 2027 general elections approaching.

“What is most painful is that most of my members sustained varying degrees of wounds. This is in spite of the hoodlums going into our party secretariat in Alimosho and destroying our furniture and flags,” he said.

Olushola clarified that the defection itself had already taken place, stressing that Saturday’s gathering was merely a symbolic ceremony to inform the public of their decision.

According to him, nearly all LP members in Alimosho, including the party’s leadership structure, had collectively agreed to move to the ADC.

Also speaking, the party’s Alimosho Secretary, Mr Moses Akujuobi, explained that plans for an open defection ceremony had earlier been halted by the police, who cited the absence of formal approval.

He said the organisers had reached out to the Area M Commander, ACP Abaniwonda, who reportedly informed them that only the Commissioner of Police could authorise political events in the state.

“Incidentally, we could not reach the CP, but we informed the DSS, after which we went ahead since it wasn’t a rally but a quiet ceremony,” Akujuobi said.

He added that the situation became more tense upon arrival at the initial venue.

“When we got to the venue this morning, we were shocked to see police vans with heavily armed policemen. They informed us that we cannot hold the event and referred us to the police commissioner.

“While we were at it, the hoodlums besieged the place and began to beat people, leading to our deserting the venue,” he explained.

Akujuobi said party officials subsequently contacted members by phone to proceed to the second venue in Egbeda, where the programme resumed briefly.

“We, however, began to contact our members through phones to move to the second venue, which is the Eco Event Centre, and everyone witnessed what took place here.

“The hoodlums got wind of our second venue and equally attacked us, beating up our members again,” he added.

He noted that the decision to defect to the ADC was driven by internal leadership challenges within the Labour Party and protracted legal disputes affecting the party.

Shortly after the hoodlums vacated the second venue, several police vans carrying armed officers reportedly arrived at the location.

PoliticsADC Warns Delays In Electoral Bill Threaten 2027 Elections by Bobloco(op): 6:15pm On Jan 31
The African Democratic Congress, has called on the National Assembly to urgently pass the Electoral Bill 2025, warning that continued delays could undermine critical electoral reforms and threaten the credibility of the 2027 elections.

ADC Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, in a statement on Saturday, said the party accused the APC-led Senate of delaying the bill and warned against weakening or stalling key reforms like electronic voter accreditation and results transmission.

On Thursday, the Senate inaugurated a seven-member ad hoc committee to review, harmonise, and streamline senators’ contributions to the proposed amendments to the Electoral Act, as part of renewed efforts to fortify Nigeria’s electoral framework ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The move followed a three-hour closed-door executive session during which lawmakers examined the Electoral Act (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill currently under consideration by the National Assembly.

Announcing the development, Senate President Godswill Akpabio said the committee will consolidate lawmakers’ positions and resolve outstanding issues in the amendment process. The panel is headed by Niyi Adegbonmire, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters.

Reacting, the ADC expressed strong concern over what it described as ongoing delays by the National Assembly on the 2025 Electoral Bill, warning that the slow pace suggests the APC-led legislature may be stalling key amendments meant to curb election rigging.

ADC stated, “The ADC also notes that some of the proposed amendments have introduced new compliance and eligibility requirements that need to be properly understood and met by political parties. Failure to allow sufficient time to understand the provisions of the new law, beyond what is publicly available as proposals, has serious consequences for both political parties and the INEC. Lack of clarity regarding the electoral guidelines would not only serve as booby traps for opposition political parties but also make it difficult for the INEC to prepare adequately and set clear guidelines within the stipulated time.

“For example, the provision requiring INEC to publish election notices not later than 360 days before the general election remains extant. The implication is that even now, there is very little room for maneuver.

“The ADC therefore calls on the National Assembly to promptly pass the bill. Any further delays pose a serious risk to the integrity of the 2027 general elections and undermine the integrity of the entire electoral process well in advance. Nigeria cannot afford the cost of another acrimonious or dubious election.

“The ADC also urges civil society organisations, international partners, and all political parties committed to accountable democratic governance to pressure the National Assembly to act swiftly, as Nigerians cannot afford another election cycle without these critical safeguards in place.”

PoliticsNo Southern Candidate Better To Govern Nigeria Than Tinubu – Ganduje by Bobloco(op): 3:46pm On Jan 31
Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, has insisted that no politician from Southern Nigeria is better suited to lead the country beyond 2027 than President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Ganduje made the assertion in Abuja while hosting a delegation of youth leaders from Northern Nigeria, representing all 19 northern states.

During the meeting, he rejected claims that the North would resist Tinubu’s re-election bid, describing such speculation as misguided.

“There is no better candidate to govern Nigeria beyond 2027 from the southern Nigeria than Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Ganduje stated.

He cautioned critics against assuming that Northern voters would shift their support to another candidate in the next presidential election.

“Pertaining to the next election in 2027, those that are nursing or thinking otherwise that the north will vote another candidate other than Asiwaju are making a big mistake,” he warned.

According to Ganduje, Tinubu possesses rare political credentials that distinguish him from others, adding that Nigeria is fortunate to have a president whose entire life has been shaped by political engagement and democratic struggle.

“This is the first time Nigeria as a nation is lucky to have a politician as president; his constituency is politics, his upbringing is politics because he believes in the unity of this country,” he said.

The former Kano State governor also recalled Tinubu’s role in Nigeria’s pro-democracy movement, emphasizing his sacrifices during the military era.

“In fact, he struggled; he was even in exile for democracy to survive in Nigeria. So, there is no better person to be elected in 2027 than Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Ganduje added.

He further referred to an earlier political agreement reached ahead of the election of former President Muhammadu Buhari, which, according to him, ensured that power would return to the South after eight years in office.

“Asiwaju has only been there for less than four years now, and we have seen the measures, the reforms that he undertook,” Ganduje said. “The reforms that he introduced in order to improve the social economic development of this country.”

PoliticsOkpebholo Orders LG Chairmen To Erect 360 Campaign Billboards For Tinubu’s Re-el by Bobloco(op): 12:51pm On Jan 31
Okpebholo orders LG chairmen to erect 360 campaign billboards for Tinubu’s re-election

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has directed the 18 Local Government chairmen to erect 360 campaign billboards for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection across the State.

DAILY POST reports that Governor Okpebholo gave the order on Friday, January 30, 2026, during the inauguration of the Edo State chapter of the National Renewed Hope Initiative.

The National Renewed Hope Initiative is established to drive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda for Nigerians.

Okpebholo said 20 billboards would be erected by each of the Council chairman in their various local government area.

He said the erection of the billboard across the 18 Local Government areas is to ensure that the Renewed Hope message of President Tinubu reaches grassroots communities, religious institutions, churches, and mosques.

The governor, who commended President Tinubu for reforms in key sectors such as petroleum, security, education, and the economy, opined that it is impossible to replace a performing President.

He noted that the President’s bold and courageous reforms are already transforming Nigeria.

He, however, urged Edo people to support the President’s return to Aso Rock for a second term.

Okpebholo expressed confidence that Edo citizens across all demographics, including the elderly and youths, are ready to mobilise massively for the President.

“It is not just about the agenda; it is about the capacity to mobilise. The Edo people are prepared. Nobody can beat Asiwaju’s record in governance. We cannot replace a man who is performing.

“With 30 APC governors nationwide, President Tinubu’s re-election campaign is already strengthened. The victory in 2027 is assured.

“I want local government chairmen across the 18 LGAs to erect at least 20 billboards each and ensure the Renewed Hope message reaches grassroots communities, religious institutions, churches, and mosques.

“The religious groups must hear this message. Churches and mosques must be involved. Religious groups will be inaugurated soon.

“I promised Mr President 2.5 million votes. Our party chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, added to it, and the women’s leader also added, and now we have 3.9 million votes. Edo people must deliver on this promise,” he said.

Earlier, in his welcome address the Edo State Coordinator of the National Renewed Hope Initiative, Mr Sylvester Aigboboh, inaugurated the Senatorial, Local Government Areas and Youth Coordinators for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election.

Aigboboh who applauded President Tinubu’s bold reforms, stated that they are attracting investors and renewing hope among Nigerians.

He noted that the gains from the removal of fuel subsidy are beginning to manifest.

He, however, charged the ambassadors to intensify grassroots mobilisation and promote the policies and achievements of President Tinubu’s administration.

The State Coordinator of the National Renewed Hope Initiative posited that the inauguration marked the formal activation of a people-driven movement aimed at strengthening party outreach, promoting good governance, and consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He described the appointments of the ambassadors as a call to duty, urging the coordinators to serve as effective bridges between government, party leadership, and the grassroots, while fostering unity and inclusiveness within the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“The objective of this group is to foster inclusiveness, galvanise grassroots support, and consolidate the gains towards President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027,” he said, urging members to remain loyal in service to the party and nation”, he added.

The appointed three senatorial leaders of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors are Joshua Uwagboe, Hon. Odinose Okojie, and Hon. Abdul Lawani for Edo South, Central and North senatorial districts respectively.

The appointees thanked Governor Okpebholo for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to take the campaign message to the grassroots to ensure President Tinubu’s re-election.

Eighteen others were inaugurated to coordinate activities across the 18 local government areas, while three youth coordinators were also appointed from the three senatorial districts.

PoliticsAgain, Donald Duke Dumps PDP, Formally Joins ADC by Bobloco(op): 7:09pm On Jan 30
Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has once again resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), formally pitching his tent with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Duke registered as an ADC member in Ward 5 of Calabar Municipality, where he collected his party membership card, marking his official entry into the opposition party.

His move comes amid recent internal concerns within the ADC in Cross River State. Former ADC governorship candidate, Dr Effiong Nyong, had written to the party’s National Chairman, protesting the inclusion of some individuals from the state in the ADC’s 50 Wise Men and Women Policy Manifesto Committee.

Nyong faulted a statement by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, which listed persons who, according to him, neither resigned from the PDP nor made contributions to the ADC, calling for their removal.

Political observers believe Duke’s swift formal registration may be linked to the controversy, as the former governor had earlier been named among prominent figures associated with the party.

Recall that Duke previously left the PDP for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), where he emerged as the party’s presidential candidate under controversial circumstances.

Meanwhile, ADC leaders in Bakassi Local Government Area have intensified calls on Cross Riverians to identify with the party, describing it as a credible alternative ahead of future elections.

Rising from a stakeholders’ meeting involving chapter executives, ward chairmen, and secretaries, party leaders accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of misrule and urged Nigerians to reclaim the country.

In a statement signed by the Bakassi Chapter Chairman, Emmanuel Asuquo, and Secretary, Eko Boco, the party reaffirmed its loyalty to the ADC national leadership, pledging support for the National Chairman, Senator David Mark, and National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, while urging undecided citizens to join the party’s “transformative agenda.”

PoliticsUK Court Names Tinubu, Osinbajo, Aluko In Diezani Alison-Madueke Corruption Trai by Bobloco(op): 11:53am On Jan 30
UK Court Names Tinubu, Osinbajo, and Aluko in Diezani Alison-Madueke Corruption Trial

A UK court has mentioned President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and oil businessman Kolawole Aluko during proceedings in the corruption trial of former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The names were raised as prosecutors presented documents and digital records before the Southwark Crown Court in London. The materials were introduced as part of evidence in the ongoing case against Alison-Madueke.

Prosecutors told the court that the evidence includes transcripts of audio recordings, WhatsApp messages, emails, and written correspondence. These items were said to have been recovered during searches carried out by the National Crime Agency and the Metropolitan Police at properties linked to the former minister.

The prosecution said the documents revealed several allegations connected to individuals within Nigeria’s political and business circles. They stressed that the materials were being tendered in support of their case and would be examined by the court.

During the hearing, oil executive Olatimbo Ayinde was mentioned in relation to claims that associates of businessman Kola Aluko benefited from their closeness to him. Ayinde was described as a known ally of President Tinubu.

The court also heard about a dispute involving Ayinde and billionaire businessman Femi Otedola. Prosecutors referred to a letter allegedly written to former President Muhammadu Buhari, in which Ayinde raised fears about her personal safety following the disagreement.

Another issue brought before the court involved Dumebi Kachikwu, a politician and businessman. Prosecutors alleged that he acted as a middleman in financial dealings connected to his brother, Ibe Kachikwu, who previously served as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and as Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

The court was told that large sums of money were moved through these arrangements. These included claims of luxury spending, such as the purchase of an expensive wristwatch from Harrods and payments linked to medical bills.

Prosecutors also referred to correspondence written by Festus Keyamo, now Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development. At the time, he acted as a lawyer in the matter. The letter reportedly described some of the payments as being related to land transactions.

Further evidence presented included records of telephone communications said to involve President Tinubu and former Vice President Osinbajo. Prosecutors also mentioned meeting records connected to Osinbajo’s former chief of staff, Adeola Ipaye. Parts of these communications were said to have been transcribed.

The prosecution maintained that all the documents and recordings formed part of its evidentiary case and would support the charges against Alison-Madueke.

Alison-Madueke is standing trial on five counts of accepting bribes and one count of conspiracy to commit bribery. She has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Earlier in the trial, jurors were told that the former minister lived a lavish lifestyle while in the United Kingdom. The court heard that she used a personal shopper service at Harrods, which is reserved for customers who spend more than £10,000 each year.

Prosecutors claimed that over £2 million was spent on her behalf at the luxury store. Some of the purchases were allegedly made using cards linked to Kolawole Aluko and his company, Tenka Limited.

The court also heard that about £4.6 million was used to renovate properties in London and Buckinghamshire said to be connected to her.

Aluko, who was named in the Panama Papers, has previously faced investigations over claims that he helped move millions of dollars out of Nigeria as kickbacks for Alison-Madueke. Prosecutors said he held oil contracts with state-owned companies while seeking additional deals.

Meanwhile, Alison-Madueke’s physical appearance in court has drawn attention. She was seen leaving the court without a walking stick on Thursday, accompanied by a driver or bodyguard. This contrasted with earlier days when she arrived with a walking aid.

She was also recorded leaving the court briskly and without assistance on Wednesday. On Monday and Tuesday, she had been observed using a walking stick when entering and exiting the court premises.

Prosecutors earlier told the court that Alison-Madueke accepted £100,000 in cash while in office, along with other benefits. These allegedly included private jet flights, chauffeur-driven cars, and luxury items from brands such as Louis Vuitton and Harrods.

The trial continues as the defence is expected to respond to the evidence presented by the prosecution

PoliticsOver 160 Church Members Held By Kidnappers In Kaduna, Kogi by Bobloco(op): 6:50am On Jan 30
No fewer than 160 members of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) are currently in captivity across Kaduna and Kogi states, with their families facing crippling ransom demands, the leadership of the Church has revealed.

The disclosure comes as the Church raised alarm over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, following the recent abduction of worshippers in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In a statement issued by the ECWA President, Rev. Job Bagat, the Church disclosed that “about 100 members from the Kwassam District Church Council, 30 from the Saminaka District Church Council in Kaduna State, and another 30 from the Kabba District Church Council in Kogi State were already being held by kidnappers before the latest incident in Kajuru.”

ECWA described the situation as deeply distressing and reflective of the growing insecurity confronting communities across the country.

The Church expressed profound concern over what it described as persistent and targeted attacks against Christian communities, clergy and ordinary citizens, noting that such acts constitute a direct assault on constitutional rights to life, worship and security.

According to the statement, “ECWA pastors, church workers and members in several states have suffered killings, abductions, displacement and destruction of livelihoods, leaving many communities traumatised and abandoned.”

ECWA specifically condemned the abduction of worshippers on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area, describing it as “sacrilegious and barbaric. The armed invasion of churches during worship, which was confirmed by the Nigeria Police Force, is sacrilegious and barbaric, further deepening fear and national anguish,” the statement said.

Rev. Bagat noted that the Kajuru attack was part of a broader pattern of violence threatening several ECWA District Church Councils, including Katari and Gidan Waya in Kaduna State; Katsina South in Katsina State; Patigi, Omu-Aran and Ora-Ago in Kwara State; Kabba District in Kogi State; Gwol and Mangu in Plateau State; and Shiroro in Niger State.

While acknowledging renewed efforts by the Federal Government and the eventual deployment of security personnel to Kajuru, ECWA expressed grave concern over delays in response, warning that such lapses cost valuable time and embolden criminal networks.

The Church stressed that security measures must be proactive, intelligence-driven, sustained and preventive, particularly in vulnerable rural communities.

ECWA therefore called on the Federal, State and Local Governments to strengthen intelligence gathering and early-warning systems, ensure swift and effective responses to threats, transparently prosecute perpetrators and their sponsors, and provide adequate protection for places of worship and other soft targets.

The Church also urged traditional rulers, community leaders and citizens to promote unity, shared vigilance and peaceful coexistence, while reaffirming its solidarity with all victims of insecurity and its commitment to prayer, peacebuilding, advocacy and practical support for affected communities

PoliticsBandits’ Lynchpin Bello Turji’s APC Membership Card Forged, Says Ruling Party by Bobloco(op): 10:01am On Jan 27
The party’s spokesman in Zamfara, Yusuf Idris, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress says it has discovered a fake party membership card in circulation, describing the action as a mischievous attempt to spoil the party’s name.

The party’s spokesman in Zamfara, Yusuf Idris, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Mr Idris stated that the party came across a forged APC membership card doctored to contain an edited picture of the notorious bandits’ kingpin, Bello Turji, making him appear to be a registered party member.

“This was carried out by mischievous elements who are not happy with the smooth, successful and coordinated manner in which the ongoing e-registration of members is going on in the state.

“Even to the man on the street, the forgery is detectable right from the card in which there’s the emboldened ’26’ on the date referred to the 26th day of January. Similarly, the photograph of the hardened criminal used on the card is his picture, popularly known by both security agencies and Nigerians in general,” Mr Idris said.

Mr Idris added,”No person can be duly registered without a NIN number, which Turji hasn’t, and therefore making nonsense of the efforts of the mischief-makers for failing to realise that APC programmes are mostly flawless.

“The forgers forgot that before any person is enrolled by NIMC, he must fill a form that will contain his full information before he is captured. How then could NIMC capture him with a military uniform and gun on his shoulders, or are they blind or had forgotten that such features are not acceptable?”

The APC politician added, “Also, from our records of today’s registration from Kware ward, we did not have the ID number with the initial ID code ’26’, which is for Niger, but forged for a Zamfara membership card, talk less of the name.

“Preliminary investigation has already linked the mischievous card to one of Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi’s boys, Babangida Aliyu Shinkafi (Waziri), who was recently suspended from participating in the ongoing e-registration programme due to his dubious attitude. The forgery is linked to him because it first appeared on his Facebook page.

“Bottom line is, the APC e-registration coordination in Zamfara and indeed the state’s chapter of the party wish to completely debunk and distance themselves from the fake membership card with registration number: ID: APC 261113000102.”

According to him, the code that starts with 26 is for Niger, not Zamfara, which starts with 36.

“This clearly shows their ignorance on the registration,” Mr Idris said, “We therefore call on the well-meaning citizens to disregard the card while an investigation into the fabricators is being conducted.
We have reported the forgery case to the security agencies, and we are sure the perpetrator will be arrested and prosecuted soon.”

PoliticsMakinde Turning to Opposition spokesperson after Tinubu rebuff - Ayo Fayose by Bobloco(op): 7:00am On Jan 26
Makinde turning himself to opposition spokesperson after Tinubu snub - Fayose

Makinde Turning Emergency Opposition Mouthpiece Because President Tinubu Rejected Him

That Seyi Makinde's derogatory comment against President Tinubu at Osinbajo's birthday further confirmed that he got a cold shoulder from the President during his last visit to the Villa.

Like I made public, in his attempt to do a damage control on his public speech against the President, Makinde met the shock of his political life when he visited Asiwaju last week.

It is now obvious that after getting that cold shoulder from the President, Makinde must have realized that end of road has come in terms of reconciliation between him and the President. This is more so that the Asiwaju made it clear that as far as Oyo State is concerned, he will support his party’s candidates in 2027.

The emergency opposition mouthpiece Makinde is trying albeit unsuccessfully to turn himself to is an aftermath the response he got from the President last week, which I made public.

Furthermore, it has vindicated me because if Makinde had gotten a soft-landing that he expected from the President, he (Makinde) wouldn't have gone to make that statement, condemning the Government of President Tinubu, by calling the President a dictator while praising the Buhari's administration.

With this assurances too, the APC in Oyo State should now wake up and slug it out with Makinde's candidate, which he will field under the ADC, knowing full well that PDP won't be open for him to use.

PoliticsNo Presidential ticket for Kwankwaso in 2027, he has been cornered - Keyamo by Bobloco(op): 6:43am On Jan 26
No Presidential ticket for Kwankwaso in 2027 - Festus Keyamo

I have always admired Engr. Mohammed Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso from a distance, but he appears to have boxed himself into one of the tightest corner in his political career simply because of his refusal/indecision to take the Olive Branch that was offered him by APC much earlier. Let’s break down his predicament:

1. FACT NO. 1 - Kwankwaso wants to be President, but none of the major political parties will pick him as a candidate in 2027. APC & PDP are going South & ADC’s ticket is Atiku’s to lose. Atiku is the owner of ADC (argue with your keypad, if you like). Only a major political Party can win a Presidential election in Nigeria. NNPP is still a one-State Party and with the recent wave of defections from NNPP (including the Governor himself), it is doubtful if it can maintain its grip on Kano in 2027. A leader is only as strong as his devoted lieutenants.

2. FACT NO. 2 - Kwankwaso WILL NOT support a Northern candidate because that ends his own Presidential ambition since he MAY have to wait for another 16 years after 2027 to get a shot at the Presidency - 8 likely years for the Northern Candidate and another 8 likely years when it rotates to the South again. That’s a gamble he WILL NOT TAKE. He will be 86 years old by then. So, this entirely rules out an ATIKU-Kwankwaso cooperation in 2027

3. FACT NO. 3 - Based on the above calculations, the only pathway for Kwankwaso is in 2031, but the alliance he builds in 2027 will be crucial to his ambitions in 2031. If his grip on Kano slips in 2027, it will water down his clout and influence in 2031 to be handed a Presidential ticket by any of the major Political parties. This is the time he can cash in on his presumed dominance of Kano politics and take a chance.

4. FACT 4: Kwankwaso’s only chance of a realistic alliance now with a major political Party is actually narrowed down to the PDP, the APC or the Labour Party (only if Peter Obi returns there and picks the 2027 Presidential ticket and he agrees to run as VP candidate to Obi). But all three options present their own challenges:

(a) with the PDP now gasping for breath, it may be easier for Kwankwaso to return to PDP on some terms (like taking over the entire structure in Kano and some North West States and returning Kano to PDP). And that will signal the death of NNPP. But with the zoning of the Presidential ticket to the South, that would mean a suspension of his 2027 Presidential ambition till 2031.

(b) If Kwankwaso decides to pitch tent with the APC, he is in no position to dictate so much terms to the Party. With the exodus of key figures from NNPP to APC in Kano, the APC’s structure in Kano is now in better stead to challenge the NNPP in 2027. The APC is therefore not so desperate for a Kwankwaso in Kano, but would be glad to welcome him into the Party. He still remains an asset. But one thing is sure: the APC cannot throw its entire structure in Kano under the bus for a Kwankwaso, especially with the Governor parting ways with him. However, the attraction of the APC for him is that the APC still has the national spread and structures to retain power in 2031. So, an APC option for Kwankwaso will also mean a suspension of his Presidential ambition till 2031.

(c) the 2027 Labour Party option for Kwankwaso is narrower because he simply cannot and will not run as Vice-Presidential candidate to Peter Obi. Take that to the bank. His own people will not even support him to give a likely fresh 8 years to the South (forget all the noise of ‘I will serve just one term).

FACT 5: From the scenarios above, Kwankwaso is in a very difficult political crossroads . The decision he makes now may retire him permanently from politics or revive his Presidential ambition. But one fact is clear: just like late Buhari and the CPC, without a handshake with another major Party, he will remain a local champion with his NNPP, but that too may soon vanish with the present predicament of the Party in Kano.

PoliticsOsun: Adeleke Defends Economic Policies, Faults APC Blueprint by Bobloco(op): 4:02pm On Jan 25
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has criticised the economic blueprint unveiled by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Oyebamiji.

Governor Adeleke also warned that the proposals could undermine recent economic reforms in the state.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, on Sunday in Osogbo, Adeleke said an assessment of the Oyebamiji’s document showed policy directions that differ sharply from the development framework currently being implemented by his administration.

According to the statement, “The Adeleke administration’s strategy is anchored on local content utilisation, grassroots empowerment and reduced tax burdens, while the opposition blueprint allegedly promotes policies that may encourage capital movement outside the state.

“Our approach is designed to ensure Osun resources directly benefit Osun residents.”

The governor outlined “ongoing initiatives, including artisan and cooperative financing programmes valued at nearly ₦4 billion, enforcement of local content policies in procurement, and the revitalisation of the Osun Digital Economy Hub to boost participation in the global technology sector”.

It added that “reforms in tax harmonisation and digitisation have improved internally generated revenue, while the revival of free trade zones and agro-mechanisation programmes has repositioned the state for industrial growth and agricultural expansion”.

Responding to similarities between both policy documents, the governor alleged that aspects of the APC blueprint mirrored projects already being executed.

“Several elements highlighted by the APC candidate are policies that are currently under implementation by this administration,” the statement noted.

Governor Adeleke also referenced recent legislative actions, including the signing of the state electricity law to regulate power generation and distribution.

He said implementation processes were ongoing to strengthen energy supply as a foundation for economic development.

On regional collaboration, the governor maintained that inter-state partnerships within the South-West were already active, but cautioned against arrangements that could weaken Osun’s local economy.

“Any framework that sidelines local content risks reversing hard-earned gains,” the statement said.

Adeleke addressed references to the blue economy, pointing to ongoing public-private partnership projects such as the Owala Lake Beach Resort, which he said had been revived after years of neglect, alongside plans to develop other inland water and tourism assets.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining current reforms and warned against policy shifts that could derail progress.

“Osun is on a path of inclusive growth and economic stability, and we remain focused on policies that protect and advance these gains,” the statement said

Deputy Governor, Others Absent As Yusuf Makes First Public Appearance After NNPP Exit

Kano State deputy governor, Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo, and several officials believed to be loyal to the Kwankwasiyya political movement, were conspicuously absent on Saturday as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made his first major public appearance following his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), underscoring the deepening political crisis in the state.

The occasion was the flag-off of the distribution of motorcycles to social media promoters at the Open Arena of the Government House, Kano. The event attracted top government functionaries and political associates of the governor, but also highlighted visible cracks within the administration.

Among those present were the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Ismail Falgore; the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Farouq; a former deputy governor of the State and chairman of the Governing Council of Northwest University, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, as well as several commissioners.

Commissioners in attendance included Yusuf Labaran (Health), Alhaji Umar Doguwa (Water Resources), Comrade Ibrahim Waiya (Information), and Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud (Agriculture).

However, the absence of the deputy governor coincided with the absence of other commissioners widely perceived to be loyal to the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement and former governor of the State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Those absent included the Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Yusuf Kofar Mata; Commissioner for Sports, Mustapha Kwankwaso; Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and the Physically Challenged, Amina HOD; Commissioner for Tourism, Aisha Saji; Commissioner for Internal Security, AVM Ibrahim Umaru (rtd); and the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa.

In a related development, resignations have continued to trail Governor Yusuf’s exit from the NNPP. A former Special Adviser on Political Matters, Sunusi Sirajo, announced his resignation in a video circulated on social media, citing his loyalty to Senator Kwankwaso and describing the governor’s defection as a betrayal. He claimed his resignation letter was earlier rejected by government officials.

Other appointees who reportedly resigned included the Provost of the Anti-Corruption Institute, Sumaila Abdullahi Esq; the Managing Director of Kano Zoo, Sadiq Kura Mohammad; and the Senior Special Assistant on Intergovernmental and Foreign Affairs, Abdullahi Ahmad Namama.

In a swift response, the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, announced the appointment of Mustapha Hamza Buhari as the new Special Adviser on Political Matters

PoliticsTinubu Planning To Remove Shettima, Replace With Sitting Gov – Primate Ayodele by Bobloco(op): 11:19am On Jan 25
2027: Tinubu planning to remove Shettima, replace with sitting gov – Primate Ayodele

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is planning to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima, ahead of the presidential election in 2027.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele reiterated his warning to Tinubu not to make use of a muslim-muslim ticket, stating that the disobedience is leading to the removal of the vice president from office.

He, however, warned that if the VP is removed acrimoniously, it will affect the party because Shettima will work against the interests of the party.

Ayodele said: “I warned Tinubu of a Muslim-Muslim ticket, but most people didn’t listen. If Shettima is removed acrimoniously, he will work against the interest of the party because they are contemplating picking a governor to replace Shettima as vice president.”

Likewise, he advised President Tinubu against making use of any of the governors who decamped to the party because it could cause aggression in the north.

“If any of the crossing governors is picked from the north, this will cause aggression in the north,” he said.

Speaking further, Primate Ayodele said: “Tinubu is working and doing well, but two things are fighting him, which are nemesis and betrayal.

“People who are applauding him are looking for his downfall; money can’t buy it at all. Some of his aides are also blocking access to him for those who can actually help him.

“On insecurity, no matter the security formation you put together, the US doesn’t like your government, and they know where to puncture this government because they already know the secret of your security.”

PoliticsDon’t Insult Kwankwaso, Kano Govt Warns by Bobloco(op): 8:33pm On Jan 24
The Kano State government has warned supporters of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf against making inflammatory statements or insulting the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, saying such actions will attract disciplinary measures.

The warning was issued the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, during the distribution of motorcycles to party members at the Open Space Theatre, Government House, Kano.

Daily Trust reports that Governor Yusuf was present at the event.

Bature said the government would not tolerate acts of indiscipline or disrespect towards Kwankwaso, describing him as a political leader whose role in Kano politics must be acknowledged, regardless of ongoing political developments.

We will not accept indiscipline or insults against the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Anybody who engages in such behaviour will face the consequences. We will not accept it,” he said.

He urged supporters of the governor to conduct themselves with restraint and maturity, especially at a time of heightened political tension following recent realignments in the state’s political landscape.

According to him, the government remains committed to maintaining peace and internal cohesion among its supporters, stressing that political disagreements must not degenerate into personal attacks or abuse.

Bature also reminded party members that respect for leaders and discipline within the political structure were essential for stability and effective governance.

The warning comes amid ongoing reactions and debates following Governor Yusuf’s recent resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), a development that has generated mixed responses within the Kwankwasiyya movement and Kano residents.

The circular highlighted steps for the loan repayment.

Less than two years after disbursing loans to tertiary institution students through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), President Bola Tinubu’s administration has requested repayment from beneficiaries of the scheme.

A circular dated January 23, signed by the University of Benin Registrar, A. A. Bobola, informed indebted students on the procedure for NELFUND loan repay from the federal government.

It stated, “This is to inform all students of the University of Benin who are beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) that the University Management has received the official guidelines for the repayment of student loans.”

The circular highlighted steps for the loan repayment, urging indebted students to “strictly follow the two-step procedure.”

The circular noted, “Please ensure that you follow these steps carefully to avoid any delay in confirming your loan repayment. Members of the university community, particularly affected students, are hereby requested to please note and comply accordingly.”

Request for repayment of the loan came barely two years after the loans were given to student to support their education in various institutions of higher learning.

In 2024, an Act establishing NELFUND was signed into law by Mr Tinubu.

Earlier in January, Managing Director, NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, said “1,361,011 applications have been received, 864,798 students have so far benefited from the loan scheme, and a total disbursement stands at N161.97 billion.

PoliticsDefection: ‘i’m Not For Sale’ – Kwankwaso by Bobloco(op): 7:50am On Jan 24
The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has declared that he is not for sale after Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano state left the party.

Kwankwaso made this declaration on Friday while speaking to supporters immediately after Governor Yusuf’s exit from the NNPP.

DAILY POST reports that Yusuf on Friday officially resigned from the NNPP, citing protracted internal crises and legal disputes that he said have weakened the party’s cohesion nationwide.

Reacting, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, said he is committed to his political ideals, declaring that he would not compromise his principles for personal gain.

According to the former Kano state governor, his long-standing political struggle had always been aimed at the emancipation of ordinary Nigerians.

I’m not for sale. Our political convictions keep me grounded. If I were in it for personal gain, I would have taken the easy route and you would be looking for me elsewhere, not in this place,” he said

PoliticsMass Abduction: Stop Denying Security Problem, ADC Blasts FG by Bobloco(op): 8:27pm On Jan 22
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed anger over the failed cover-up attempt of Kaduna abduction, saying such development reflects dangerous obsession with public relations.

The ADC, which warned the federal government to stop denying security problem, condemned the failed cover-up attempt by the Kaduna State Government and the Nigeria Police Force of the mass abduction of Nigerians, who gathered for worship in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area.

The party described the attempt as part of the APC government’s preoccupation with hiding the truth in order to look good.

ADC, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, also criticised the Federal Government’s stone silence on this latest abduction of Christian worshippers, describing it as a sign of fatigue.

Expressing grave concern over the attempted cover up, ADC, which said that the incident was later confirmed by the same authorities after public outcry, added that “this episode raises a fundamental and dangerous question for our country: can a government whose first instinct is to withhold information and hide the truth be trusted to protect lives and improve security?

The deliberate denial of a verified mass abduction is not a communications error. It is the behaviour of a government obsessed with looking good rather than solving problems. In moments of violence and emergency, truth is the first line of defence. It guides response, enables rescue, mobilises communities, and reassures a frightened public.

“However, when a government chooses silence or falsehood, it compounds danger, delays action, and deepens trauma. A government that lies during a security crisis does not merely fail its people; it actively places them at further risk.

“Credible reports that journalists, civil society actors, and independent observers were prevented from accessing affected communities make us wonder what exactly the government was attempting to hide.

“A government committed to solving problems in a time of crisis asks for information, not suppresses it. When official institutions dismiss verified accounts from families, community leaders, and religious bodies as falsehoods, they erode the very trust upon which effective security depends.”

ADC further said that the incident has also exposed serious contradictions in the so-called Kaduna peace approach, adding, “while the government moved swiftly to deny a major kidnapping in order to preserve a public image of peace and security, senior officials have openly acknowledged negotiations and concessions to bandits and criminal elements. This approach may grant immediate wins, but it is not sustainable; it is a dangerous gamble that rewards criminality while leaving law-abiding citizens vulnerable to further attacks.”

The ADC also condemned the Federal Government’s stone silence on this latest abduction of worshippers, adding, “this silence does not only suggest a lack of empathy; it indicates a government that is frustrated and has therefore chosen denial and silence. But silence by the Federal Government is not a strategy. It only reveals a government irritated that the public image it seeks to sell is being undermined by the reality of persistent insecurity in the country.

“The African Democratic Congress therefore calls for immediate and transparent rescue efforts for all abducted persons in Kurmin Wali and across Kaduna State. We further demand an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the initial denial of the abduction, including the role of all security and government officials involved in disseminating false information.

“All restrictions on journalists and civil society organisations seeking access to conflict-affected areas must be lifted without delay. Finally, the Kaduna State Government must fully disclose any agreements, negotiations, or arrangements entered into with armed groups, including their legal basis, terms, and oversight mechanisms.

“No Nigerian should ever have to beg their government to acknowledge their suffering. No family should be forced to prove that their loved ones have been taken by violence before the state will act. The ADC stands with the people of Kaduna State and with all Nigerians who believe that leadership begins with honesty, that authority carries responsibility, and that the first duty of government is to protect life, dignity, and truth.”

PoliticsI Am Comfortable In PDP – Makinde Declares After Meeting Tinubu by Bobloco(op): 8:20pm On Jan 22
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has dismissed speculations about a possible defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying he remains comfortable in the party despite recent political realignments.

Makinde made this known after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, where he was asked about reports that some PDP governors and leaders had defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Responding to the question on whether he was considering a move to the APC, the governor said he had no such plans, stressing that his loyalty to the PDP remains intact.

“I’m comfortable in the PDP,” Makinde said.

“Again, we may have issues in this country where a bipartisan approach is required. It shouldn’t be a situation where only the APC is talking or only the PDP is talking. We must look at what puts our best foot forward in the interest of our nation.”

He added that when national interest is at stake, cooperation across party lines becomes necessary.

“At that point, you need everybody on board,” he noted.

The governor’s comments suggest a willingness to engage in bipartisan dialogue at the national level, while firmly maintaining his political base within the Peoples Democratic Party and rejecting any immediate move to the All Progressives Congress.

DAILY POST earlier reported that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday.

Makinde arrived shortly after his colleague from Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), arrived at the State House

PoliticsRigging Has Begun – Atiku Blasts Senate Over Electoral Act Amendments Delay by Bobloco(op): 1:56pm On Jan 22
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the Senate of deliberately frustrating efforts to amend the Electoral Act 2022, warning that failure to reform the law could fatally undermine the credibility of the 2027 general elections.

In a post shared on his verified X page, Atiku described the 2023 general elections as a “major setback,” blaming loopholes in the Electoral Act 2022 for enabling what he called brazen electoral rigging and making it nearly impossible for petitioners to successfully prosecute election cases in court.

According to him, meaningful reform of the legal framework governing elections is the only way to prevent a repeat of the flaws witnessed in 2023.

“It is imperative that if the mistakes of the 2023 election are to be corrected, the legal instrument for the conduct of the 2027 and subsequent future elections needs to be reviewed,” he stated.

Atiku, however, expressed concern that the National Assembly, particularly the Senate, appears unwilling to fast-track the necessary amendments.

“But as things stand, it has become obvious that the Senate is determined to frustrate the passage of amendments to the 2022 Electoral Act,” he said.

He also referenced a recent investigative report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), describing it as both an indictment of the Senate and a call for urgent legislative responsibility.

“The credibility of the 2027 general elections hinges on the urgency with which the Senate treats this crucial bill,” Atiku warned.

The former presidential candidate stressed that the amended law must be finalised and in force before the 2027 elections, insisting that any delay would amount to a deliberate attempt to compromise the process long before voting begins.

“Anything short of this is a deliberate attempt to rig the election long before the ballots are cast,” he added

The Nigeria Police Force has said that it is still collating names of the victims of the mass abduction in Kaduna State.
Speaking during an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television monitored by DAILY POST on Wednesday, the Force spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin said the police will update Nigerians when they have more information.

He said, “We are still collating names, but we have an estimate. This is an investigation that is actively ongoing.

“It’s not like we have CCTV camera in that place that can tell us what happened. The moment we have further information, we will update Nigerians.

“But for emphasis, we can confirm that the incident happened and we have deployed all our resources there.

“In fact, Today we mobilised one of our helicopters to go there for air surveillance. That’s how seriously we are taking it.

“The IGP gave that directive this morning. Also the Commissioner of Police had to go there to supervise things himself.”

Politics‘we Never Promised Miracles’ – Oshiomhole Defends Tinubu’s Reforms by Bobloco(op): 2:52am On Jan 22
Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has said that the APC-led Federal Government did not promise Nigerians instant miracles, insisting that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is implementing gradual but significant changes.

Oshiomhole made the remarks on Wednesday while fielding questions on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme.

According to him, although the Tinubu administration has been in office for about two and a half years, noticeable changes are occurring daily as a result of ongoing reforms.

He argued that critics who previously demanded a departure from old approaches are now questioning the government for adopting a radically different path.

Oshiomhole said the president is not merely reforming the system but undertaking far-reaching and fundamental changes aimed at correcting long-standing structural problems.

He maintained that the administration should be judged based on the direction and substance of its policies rather than expectations of immediate outcomes, stressing that meaningful change requires time.

Oshiomhole said: “We did not promise miracles. In two and a half years of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, every day there is something changing.

“And like I said, this is a society in which people like Peter Obi will say, ‘you can’t keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different outcome.’

“Okay, now Tinubu is doing something totally different, not just reforming, but radically reforming. And then you say, ‘Why is he reforming?’”

PoliticsRe: US Strike; We Were Told That FG Provided Intelligence by Bobloco: 9:33am On Jan 20
Tinubu did not come to provide good governance. Instead, he came to promote ethnic bigotry and tribal hatred.

First, it was IPOB. Then came the claim that it was Igbo secessionists exaggerating claims of Christian genocide. This was followed by another claim that it was Biafra secessionists. Most recently, there was the claim that an Igbo trader in Onitsha market provided intelligence to Trump to bomb northern Nigeria.

Given all this, it is not surprising that many people question why the Tinubu administration appears so fixated on the Igbo ethnic group.

What, exactly, did the Igbos do to Tinubu, his family, or the APC?
PoliticsGovernor Hope Uzodimma Sponsors Imo REC, 27 Electoral Officers On Pilgrimage To by Bobloco(op): 10:54pm On Jan 19
......To Jerusalem

SaharaReporters gathered that the pilgrimage is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has sponsored the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), seven Heads of Department, and 27 Electoral Officers on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

SaharaReporters gathered that the pilgrimage is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Multiple sources within the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed to SaharaReporters on Monday that the officials would depart Imo State for Jerusalem as part of this sponsored religious trip.

According to the sources, the delegation is set to gather at the Government House Chapel by noon on Tuesday, where prayers and formal send-off activities will be held before their departure.

"The Rec, 7 Heads of Department, 27 Electoral Officers will leave Imo State for Jerusalem tomorrow by 10pm for pilgrimage, sponsored by Hope Uzodimma," a source said.

Following the gathering at the chapel, the 27 Electoral Officers will proceed to the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, at approximately 3 pm.

The group is then scheduled to depart for Jerusalem at 10 pm the same day, marking the start of their sacred journey.

"They will assemble at Government House Chapel by 12 noon tomorrow, then proceed to Imo airport around 3pm, depart for Jerusalem by 10pm," another source added.

Political or electoral patronage is common in Nigeria.

On December 3, 2025, SaharaReporters reported that president Bola Tinubu has presented a set of luxury vehicles, including a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep, a Toyota Hilux, and a Hummer bus, to each state coordinator of a new political mobilisation structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Multiple sources confirmed to SaharaReporters that the vehicles were handed over under the platform known as the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.

The group is a nationwide campaign network spearheaded and fully coordinated by Imo State Governor, Uzodimma.

According to the sources, the presentation took place in Abuja, where state coordinators gathered to receive the vehicles and instructions regarding funding for the 2027 presidential campaign.

“Each of the states was told to contribute N1billion to the purse of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors for Asiwaju’s 2027 campaign,” one of the sources said.

“Governor Uzodimma is the Director General, and everything was done under his supervision.”

Another source revealed that Tinubu’s public endorsement of Uzodimma as the face of the Renewed Hope campaign was deliberate and tied to this new mobilisation structure.

“Do you know that the President purposely announced Governor Uzodimma as the Renewed Hope Ambassador for the Asiwaju 2027 campaign? This is not accidental. The vehicles are part of the political machinery being put in place,” the source added.

One of the sources told SaharaReporters that the timing of the luxury car donations showed a deep disconnect between the federal government and the lived realities of ordinary Nigerians.

A top insider expressed shock that such resources were being deployed for political preparation rather than security reinforcement.

Politics2027: Respect Power Rotation; Let Tinubu Finish Second Term, APC Chieftain Tells by Bobloco(op): 10:08am On Jan 18
.....Atiku, northerners

Mr Okechukwu said Mr Abubakar did not have the interest and unity of Nigeria at heart if he decided to contest against the turn of the south.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, Osita Okechukwu, has urged Nigerians, especially northern politicians, to allow President Bola Tinubu to finish his second term.

Mr Okechukwu, a former director-general of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), made the call during the flagging off of the APC e-registration at Eke Ward in the Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State on Saturday.

He noted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would be presumed the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primaries and urged him to adhere to the Nigerian presidency’s zoning and rotational formula.

Speaking after his registration, the party chieftain endorsed Mr Tinubu for a second term, calling on Mr Abubakar to allow him to complete his second tenure before power rotated to the north.

“By the time Tinubu finishes in 2031, any southerner who is coming for president, we will not allow the person because it will be the turn of the north,” he said.

Mr Okechukwu said Mr Abubakar did not have the interest and unity of Nigeria at heart if he decided to contest against the turn of the south.

He explained that Mr Abubakar benefited from the same rotation in 1999, when he became the vice president under President Olusegun Obasanjo.

“If not for good faith, restraint, and self-censorship, Alhaji Abubakar Rimi, Umaru Shinkafi, Adamu Ciroma, and Bukola Saraki were all qualified by any standard but conceded power to the south.

“This was how Abubakar became vice president under Obasanjo,” he said.

He disclosed that the origin of rotation began in Switzerland in 1848, and it was based on the principle that individuals should place the unity of their country first, with equity and a sense of belonging for every group.

“Other countries practiced it in one variant or the other, but for us, after the military coup and the long reign of the military regime in Nigeria, some Nigerian patriots came together.

“Their conclusion was that the only place to shift power was the South, and also to please Abiola and his followers, was to do a rotation convention whereby it would be the turn of the South, after which the north takes over.

“And that was exactly what happened because from 1999 to 2007, the South finished and handed over to a northerner,” he said.

He recalled that in 2003, Mr Abubakar breached the same zoning arrangement that brought the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into crisis, killing the party.

“So to sustain economic reforms of Tinubu, Nigeria’s democracy, and the peace of the country, the south under Tinubu should be allowed to complete their eight years in power,” he stressed.

Mr Okechukwu said the economy was bouncing back, expressing optimism that Nigerians would see more gains from the reform in Tinubu’s second term

Burob:
This should be a question for the individual state governments, anyone asking this questions from the center, must be a mentally lazy person.

What concerns us in Delta State with the activities in Lagos State, or Kebbi State?
Calling this a question for individual state government is either disingenuous or a misunderstanding of Nigeria’s governance structure.

The eight-point agenda is President Tinubu’s federal agenda, not a state government manifesto. He campaigned on it nationally, was elected nationally, and is being assessed nationally.

That’s the wrong question. The issue isn’t whether the ADC stands a chance without an Atiku/Obi ticket; it’s whether any election conducted under Tinubu in 2027 will be credible at all, or remembered as one of the worst and most compromised elections in Nigeria’s history. When state institutions are openly bent to serve the ruling party, the problem is no longer the opposition’s candidates but the integrity of the entire electoral process.

The destruction of the PDP and LP has failed to slow doen the opposition so they are on another wild goose chase. Tinubu’s only pathway to re-election is if he's the only candidate on the ballot on election day, which is impossible. He has no other way.
This is reminiscent of the behavior of unpopular, despotic, sit-tight leaders across Africa and the rest of the world. Such leaders manipulate every available means, weaponizing state institutions like the electoral body and the judiciary, to crush opposition and entrench themselves in power, ensuring they remain unchallenged.

It has long been foretold that Tinubu is on a deliberate path to becoming Nigeria’s Paul Biya.
