PoliticsA Call For Secession? by bobofellaini(op): 11:19am On Sep 18, 2017
WHY ARE WE HERE?
I have been following the developments emanating from our political locale for quite a while now with extremely keen interest especially the continuous agitation for secession. I suppose, as a true Nigerian, who looks beyond the present situation we have directly and indirectly created for ourselves due to our much concern about political, religious and tribal differences, it is high time I unequivocally mentioned my own view and suggested panacea to the seemingly lingering problem.
To start with, we should stop dwelling on the fact that historically, it was late Sir Lord Luggard that brought this avoidable problem upon us which was supposedly born from the amalgamation he initiated in 1914. Need I say that God has the reason for bringing us together as an entity despite the arrays of our divides. Arguably, Luggard was just used by God to actualize such mission.
As a Yoruba man having Igbos as my closest friends, I have been privileged to visit a lot of major towns and cities in the North and South West- Rijiya Sambo and Dorowa in Sokoto, Sabongari in Kano, Monday market in Maiduguri, Victory road and Church road in Suleja, Orile and Surulere in Lagos just to mention a few. I am always proud of how Igbos happily transformed these areas among others to their abode not thinking they are not in the East. The aftermath of such transformation is visible socio-economic development in such cities.
Majority of the Igbos I know (though there are always ‘bad eggs’ even among all tribes in Nigeria) are naturally industrious, lively and adaptive (they can stay and do their businesses anywhere they know they can make ends meet). These are just three of the colossal qualities they possess. They do not rely on the politicians to dictate the way they survive for them. They troop out in millions to different destination across the country and beyond every year to look for greener pastures.
Why then should we subject ourselves to be used and wasted by the political big guns who care only about banking on our ignorance to achieve their personal aggrandizement? Why will somebody with overseas residence who can run away in the darkest part of the night when conflagration is hot use us to enrich his bank account with multimillion rewards from his Principals? How many of his relatives lost their lives in this struggle?
With these, we need to have a rethink as this will wake us up to the reality that our so-called political office holders, not only from the South East but across the country are our main problem. Do we bother to wage war against our non-performing Ministers, Governors, Senators, Chairmen, Traditional Rulers, Honourables etc . Just 40% of the fund they are pocketing from the National treasury alone can register our country in the comity of the advanced countries of the world.
To this end, I beg to ask- do we need to subject ourselves to avoidable loss of lives and property due to the ignorance that every so-called struggle in Nigeria, be it Boko Haram, IPOB, Niger Delta campaigns etc have political undertone? Our astuteness and discernment is urgently needed in this wise. Secession is not the solution to our problems. Restructuring would have been a better option but also at the mercy of our greedy politicians because they will enjoy more out of it. Until we learn and are ready to hold our egocentric leaders accountable for their misdeeds while holding political powers, our problem may have come to stay for unforeseeable future.
GOD BLESS US ALL AND MAY GOD ALMIGHTY CONSOLE THE FAMILIES OF THE PEOPLE WHO RECENTLY DIED IN THE STRUGGLES.

Nairaland GeneralMultichoice To Launch Pay-per-view by bobofellaini(op): 10:24am On Sep 15, 2017
Multichoice Nigeria will be launching a pay-per-view (PPV) option in the country. The company emphasized that the PPV concept is a cable or satellite television system in which consumers pay an additional fee to watch a particular programme.

According to a report by Telecompaper, the Head of Public Relations of the company, Caroline Oghuma, at a press briefing in Lagos, said it is a concept allowed in pay TV operation, but it is different from pay-as-you-go which has been misconstrued to mean pay-per-view. Oghuma stated that pay-as-you-go, as believed by some customers, is not obtainable in the pay TV business.”

“Pay TV operation is not like the telecom version where you pay for the amount of airtime you want to use,” said Oghuma.

The Head of Public Relations highlighted that the concept is only obtainable when there is a super programme showing exclusively to customers who want to watch said programme. In the case of Multichoice customers, those on the premium bouquet will watch it. She added that when such programme is beamed, a dedicated channel pops up and disappears after the programme is aired.

Oghuma noted that everywhere in the world they pay to view special programmes or events, even in the US, adding,“Paying for PPV in Europe and the UK is equivalent to paying for two months subscription in Nigeria. We know Africans love boxing that is why we are bringing the best thing that is happening in the world to Africa.”

Why I dumped my $6000 job for music – Mr Eazi

By
Fikayo Olowolagba

Nigeria singer, Mr Eazi has revealed why he went into music.

In an interview with Beat Fm, the singer revealed he had to dump his job which paid him about six thousand dollars per month in order to find fulfillment in music.

According to him, his family hated him for leaving his job but love him now since his breakthrough after two first shows in London.

“After I came back from Ghana, I got a job in oil and gas in Port Harcourt that paid about six thousand dollars per month but I quit because I was not finding fulfillment in it. I mean it was the same thing everyday, the same routine over and over again.

“The decision to quit the job finally hit me when my boss’ wife left him even with all the money he had.

‘After I left my job, I got my Masters degree and with all that qualification, I started selling phones in computer village and everyone thought something was wrong with me.

“Even my mother started praying special prayers for me but my father didn’t add that final voice that would have decided my fate.

‘My break finally came after I got an invite to do two shows in London that made me twelve thousand pounds which I used to shoot two videos. When I told my mother what I did with the money, she stopped talking to me for about three weeks.

“I had to move in with a friend because even my relatives didn’t want me around but everything finally changed when I went back to London for shows that fetched me really good money”.

The ‘Leg Over’ crooner admitted he is in a relationship with Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire, Femi Otedola.
