Thanks everyone. Sorry I haven't been around. Till now she has barked just once . When someone was at my dog so the gap under the door she saw shadow, and she barked just once and ran away to hide , since then nothing else . I am even tired of training her on how to shit one place she won't still learn . Mehn this dog is stubborn I just know she is stubborn . I wash my balcony all the time because of her like sometimes 3 times a day . She will shit and piss anywhere she sees her self ..

I never have this issue with mine, right from when I got him at 6weeks old. Whenever its in d cage and wants to poop or wee ,it starts barking or growling , and immediately u open d cage it runs to the garden to poop or wee, it never does any of it on the concrete ground in d compound. Even when I put him on a leash within d compound, so far he's on d concrete ,he would bark or growl whenever he's pressed. I don't know what d guys I got him from did to it.

Your dog should not bark at your friends since he knows they are your friends.

let me tell you a secret, 70% naija dogs that bark in cage won't do anything if they come out. lol I've tested it. Not all bark is a fight bark. So your dog is a reserved type of dog. One day you will see him in action. Train that dog. He needs training. He may not bark because he knows your friends pose no threat. Bring a real threat he may surprise you. My 7 months old GSD surprised me too last 3 weeks.

My wife and I always complain he doesn't bark. and truly he doesn't. Until one day one man that was shouting at my wife for silly reasons was displaying. He pounced on him. WITHOUT BARKING. They were telling me the gist when I got home. So calm down. Your dog may surprise you.

I have a feeling he would thou... Because there's this suspicious look he gives every stranger that comes into the compound from its cage, it also raises its snort up trying to pick up the persons scent, but it's almost asif he doesn't know what next to do after that...Lol.

Then the other reason behind d feeling is usually when hes outta the cage , he has alot of energy whenever me or my siblings play with him, he jumps,bite and keeps running in circles around us, atimes we even get confused as to whether he's actually playing with us or he's bn aggressive towards us.

Then on two different occasions I was told he barked at my mechanic and at a friend of my helper, but on both occasions he was outside its cage when they both walked into the compund.. could the caging thing be one of d reasons he dosent bark at strangers??..

Alright.. I sure hope he turns. My friends that come visiting usually laugh at him, that he can't bark. I hope he starts pouncing on them soon.

That was how I paid him a surprise visit and found him in lala land. I waited outside the room for him to finish, guess what the idiot said next He said he was teaching the girl Bible study that he has converted the girl to a christian. The former owner na wicked human being . Why would you have a dog in the first place if u know you wouldn't have time to care for it. I'm happy you rescued it from that miserable owner and caring for it this way. The dog needs a lot of protein for now, to recover some weight. You can opt for one of those canned dog foods or you go for chicken parts(legs,head and insides) which is quite cheaper .

Check out my boy. I only trained him to be okay with whoever I want him to be okay with at a given time. As for visitors, please you need to call me first cos even while in his cage, you're still scared.

I dont understand where Nigeria is heading to. I just moved in to Isashi area of lagos and within a period of 3months we have been attacked by armed robbers three times. The last incident was on Saturday 10th june around 10:30pm. My estate security man called that some men just drove in into the street and that we should be vigilant. These nen came with a white SUV and when interrogated they claimed they missed their way. Not up to 10minutes they left, we heard our dogs barking and then their voices changed as if they were been attacked or fighting something. So we peeped through the window and behold the durber man dogs were defending us by attacking the thieves. So we called Ijanikin police station and told them of a robbery in progress but we were surprised when the lady that picked the phone was asking if the armed robbers were armed, and i was like WTF is wrong with you people. She told me they are coming and we did not hear from the police till today. I have given up on Nigeria Police and i just wish Governor Ambode can do something to provide security for people living in this my axis of lagos. People are now abandoning their houses and these robbers are now increasing in their activities on daily basis. I just wish Bakassi can be brought back to cleanse Nigeria of its crime. Please mods move to front page.

How did it end? Did d dogs succeed in chasing them off or u eventually got robbed?

My own dog sha don't bark ladies for long ...just to give signal and he's calm and ladies can play with him but my friends has known that dog for two years and still he barks them as if is the first time he's seeing them. Before anyone near our gate, he calls me on phone.

From the look of that dog, you pet it too much and feed him with nice food constantly. Feed him but when he's hungry. Hunger brings out the beast in them too. That dog is like four months old... Too healthy with lots of petting. Make sure strangers don't throw food to him also

The cage was built in front of the house, so it gets to see everyone coming into the compound. That's the reason I use the leash on him so that I keep him at the back of the house where he dosent get to see people very often. The cage was constructed with bricks mounted to the fence, so its immovable.

Your very right with the petting ish too, he's my first dog in like 8 years, so I kinda pamper it a lot. But I'm also cutting back on all that now.

Hello guys, meet Terry my 6 months old caucassian. The thing is my dog only barks when it wants to poo or wee, or when it sights its food close by, or when I get back home from work and it wants to come off the lease to play with me. He dosent bark when a stranger comes into the compound, although he gives them this scrutinizing/suspicious look, but he never barks at them. Although there was one instance he barked at someone who was taunting him from outside his cage. I feel its territorial instinct should av started manifesting by now.it's parents are quite aggressive,it's late grandfather was a terror in the area bk then. I'm kinda worried because part of the reasons I got him for was security inclined. Its always in the cage or on a lease for most part of the day, I hardly release him at night because he's very destructive, av lost count of the clothes it has destroyed, plants , slippers and he keeps digging big holes in the garden, although I've bn releasing him at night in d last 2 days after I've riddled the compound of likely things he can destroy.

I really don't know what to do.

Hello guys... Im new in this importation thing from China. But something seems to bother me a lot about the whole process, the shipping and clearing fees. D chinese company i buy from charges me 4$ per kg, the guys at the custom charge me 850 per kg, i end up spending almost half in value of the purchased products on shipping and clearing. Please is there a cheaper way Around this. Thanks

OP, its difficult to tell what breed(s) ur dog is. But regardles of watever breed it is, I like d way u described the dog, it shows that u care a lot about the dog, and that's very key in owning a dog. Don't let people make u feel bad by calling ur dog all sorts of horrible names.

So I mix d noodle waste and food fat together, and then boil with a little water, I boil the insides of the chicken seperately as it takes a longer time to cook. Then I add the cooked insides to the cooked noodles+food fat with a tablet of vitapet and serve the dog. Believe me ever since I started this combo my dogs size has improved tremendously. Local dogs don't usually grow very big, no matter what you feed it. Although you can Try feeding it with noodles plus food fat to reach its peak growth potential.
