Crime › Arewa Consultative Forum Expresses Concern Over Recent Boko Haram Attacks by boboLIL(op): 9:23am On Jul 06, 2015
Arewa Consultative Forum expresses concern over recent Boko Haram attacks

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed concern about the recent attacks by Boko Haram on Monguno, Kukawa and Maiduguri in Borno in which many people died.

A statement on Sunday in Kaduna by Muhammad Ibrahim, the National Publicity Secretary of the group, described the attacks and killings by the insurgent group as worrisome.

“ACF is worried and, indeed, Nigerians are worried and disturbed with the recent and frequent attacks on villages and even states capital of Borno and Yobe by the Boko Haram insurgents.

“The renewed direct attack on the people in the Monguno, Kukawa, Maiduguri and many villages in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states is cruel, barbaric and condemnable especially in the holy month of Ramadan.

“This clearly shows that the Boko Haram insurgents are cults in form, character and operation as their claim to be Muslims is untenable.

“Islam enjoined Muslims not to fight during the month of Ramadan no matter the provocation, talk less of attacking and killing innocent people for no just cause,’’ it said

The ACF said that the activities of the insurgents posed a serious challenge to the military and other security agencies.

It commended the decision of the Federal Government to move the military operational command from Abuja to Maiduguri and the establishment of the Multinational Military Joint Task-force.

The group also lauded President Muhammadu Buhari’s visits to Niger and Chad and for soliciting the support of other foreign leaders at the G7 and African Union summits in the fight against Boko Haram.

It tasked the frontline soldiers and other security agencies to translate into action the efforts of the president to put an end to the loss of innocent lives.

ACF further urged the security agencies to employ new strategy and intelligence gathering to smoke out the terrorists from their enclaves and hideouts.

“With the adequate supply of equipment and other logistic support to the military, Nigerians expect to see offensive attack on the terrorists,” it said.

The group also urged communities in the affected areas to cooperate with the security agencies in the area of intelligence gathering.

It condoled the families of those killed in the dastardly acts of the terrorists and the people and governments of the affected states.
Crime › Kogi Inter-communal Clash Claims Three Lives, Destroys Properties (picture) by boboLIL(op): 9:13am On Jul 06, 2015
Violence erupted in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State which led to the death of no fewer than three people and property running into millions of naira worth more than N30 million destroyed following an attack on the village from youths

It was reported that the violence was reportedly fuelled by the Fulani herdsmen – Agatu/Igala crises in Bagana, which some youths latched onto to attack the Ogba, Nupe community over its alleged support for the Fulani herdsmen.

Speaking with reporters at the weekend in Lokoja, the PDP chairman in Omala Loca Government, Alhaji Hassan Abubakar, who claimed to have lost two of his relations, six houses and two cars in the mayhem, said the youths attacked the community without any provocation.

According to him, the youths were merely hiding under the Fulani/Agatu crisis to attack his community because they perceived Nupes as settlers who are prospering in business and cattle rearing.

Abubakar said: “All what the youths are doing is that they are acting the scripts of some powerful individuals who have vowed to wipe us out (the Nupes) and drive us away from Omala because they say we are strangers, forgetting that we have been living here for more than 200 years without any problem.

“I am the PDP chairman in Omala Local Government and the chairman of NURTW in the local government; these positions are being rotated among all the ethnic groups in the town, but some people now feel we the settlers must not be given any sensitive position again, whereas we power the economy of the area.

“The other day, the youths attacked the Fulanis and killed 47 of their cows; it was the quick intervention of the traditional ruler, the Ojogba of Ife, that saved the situation from degenerating further, but the Bakume youths now turned against me as the leader of the Nupes and set ablaze all my six houses, my two cars and destroyed all I have laboured for in life.

“As I speak with you, we don’t know where our wives and children are, they are all scattered in the bush. It is over two weeks since the attack took place and nothing has been heard from the state or local government, while our people are starving and dying.

Romance › Same-sex Marriage And The New Age 0f Terrorism by boboLIL(op): 8:22am On Jul 06, 2015
SAME-SEX MARRIAGE AND THE NEW AGE OF TERRORISM

That the decision by the US Supreme Court legalising same-sex marriage could elicit as much outrage as though the world didn’t see it coming is, by no stretch of exaggeration, simply contemptible. The hoopla only boils down to the fact that we live in a world that could hardly heal the self-inflicted wounds of ultra-civilisation! The stark reality that the world’s acclaimed epicentre of development and bastion of freedom has virtually degenerated into a soulless society however portends grave danger that lies ahead of the future.

Concern over same-sex marriage is borne out of the fact that institutions of marriage and family which are at the core of a healthy society appear to have been violently assailed with far-reaching consequences that would seem a time-bomb. With that reality, what however remains to be seen is how pretty bad and soon the era of same-sex marriage could exacerbate social meltdown across the world.

There is however more worrisome concerns regarding emerging picture of the licentiousness with which societies are being forced to embrace all manners of sexual perverts and deviants who demand legitimacy in the name of human rights. This readily brings to mind the inevitability of resistance across societies and the consequences within and across cultural and geographical borders. The physiological, emotional and social effects of same-sex marriage would certainly elicit more than mute indifference as institutional and physical resistance are bound to be unavoidable. In a world already torn by debilitating picturesque of terrorism, the emerging scenario posits horrendous implications.

Again, there are arguments that tend to suggest that same-sex marriage is really no big deal after all. Whereas sexual orientation presupposes preference in sexuality, legalising same-sex marriage presents a different kettle of fish. If same-sex could be legalised; why not incest, paedophile and other sexual mannerism or indulgence that could as well be presented as sexual preferences? The argument that society that endured homosexuality with its attendant conflicts could readily make do with same-sex marriage is utterly preposterous. The same way religious laden argument that tends to suggest that same sex marriage by individuals or groups should not be right judged is nothing but misleading. Without doubt, the short and long term effects of same-sex marriage would be such that the immediate environment of the family and the society at large would be subject to negative influence which would become pervasive.

There is the big question as to whether Western Countries could determine for the rest the world how to deal with sexuality and sexual orientation within sovereignties. For instance, if there are countries in Africa that consider same-sex marriage ideal, should that automatically mean that the rest of the continent could be goaded into submission? Attempts at globalising same-sex marriage through enforcement, so it seems, should be regarded as dangerous weapon in the hands of western powers with compelling desires to undermine nations whose sovereign responsibility is it to define the latitudes and confines of social interaction. The rights of a sovereign entity to preserve the sanity of her space and territory within its jurisdiction in a global world could not be undermined under whatever guise or pretext.

Happily, in the face of the seemingly pervasive madness, human dignity still calls for individual and collective resistance as much as the sense of sanity prevails. It is precisely for this reason that the stance of few African leaders must be respected; even if not applauded. As countries that have embraced same-sex marriage seek to enforce it beyond their shores, these solo but strident ‘African voices’ in the huge wilderness of silence should be seen as fitting epitaph for a soulless world waiting to be consumed in a new age of terrorism that is called same sex marriage. For, the same way terrorism by a tiny clique of religious extremists offends the sensibilities of the majority is same-sex marriage and other inappropriate sexual acts offend the psyche of the society. It is reckon that covert and overt attempts at enforcing the legitimacy of sex-marriage are being championed by western powers and their agents across the world. There are increasing likelihoods that countries and governments that have boldly outlawed same-sex marriage in exercise of their sovereignty could be treated with hostilities if they refuse to back down. That would only amount to terrorism by other means!
Romance › 10 Ways Guys Try And Break You Down So That They Can Sleep With You.. by boboLIL(op): 8:08am On Jul 06, 2015
10 ways guys try and break you down so that they can sleep with you..

There’s an art to picking up women. It isn’t an art I especially respect, as the methods themselves are literally damaging, but I will admit that it works 90 percent of the time.

It all comes down to simple psychology and the human ego.

Once you know how to manipulate people into wanting things and understand how to change their perception of themselves and their surroundings, you can get people to do things they never thought they’d do.

Throw in some liquor and other party favors and taking a supermodel home becomes easy.

This article isn’t supporting the methods of such pick-up artists, but rather reminding women to be on the lookout.

Most women are already familiar with such tricks, but in case you need a refresher course, here are 10 ways guys will break down a woman’s self-esteem just so they can sleep with her:

1. They’ll pick on you:

It’s starts off with playful pokes at the way you slouch, the way your lipstick smudges on your teeth, the way you waddle when you wear high heels.

Guys want to take your self-esteem down a couple of notches, and to do so, they need to make you aware of your little flaws — flaws that every person has.

2. They’ll insult you:

Once they make you feel a bit self-conscious, they’ll cut you down a few more sizes by insulting you to your face. They’ll tell you your dress is ugly. Your hair is greasy. Your ears are too big. Your perfume is disgusting, etc.

They will likely only insult you in one fashion at a time so they don’t scare you away entirely.

But as they are mixing these insults in with regular conversation and possibly even some flattery, you’ll feel less confident in yourself, but not so insulted that you take off.

3. They’ll give you attention and then divert it to another woman:

When a man checks out another woman while he is with his girlfriend, issues usually ensue.

However, when a guy checks out another girl while he is working on picking you up, he’s hoping to strike the chord of jealousy to make you believe you aren’t special — he wants to plant the thought in your head that if you don’t snatch him up, he’ll get snatched up by some other girl.

4. They’ll hit on your less attractive friend:

This one is a go-to for all pick-up artists and players alike. When a guy wants to get into your pants, he’ll often start off by hitting on your less attractive friend instead of you.

Doing this often makes women contemplate why it is that they, the prettier ones, aren’t the center of attention. Once he gets you to want his attention, you’re putting the ball back in his court.

5. They’ll try their best to make you feel like you’re less valuable than you are:

Women just aren’t interested in men they deem less valuable than themselves. As human beings, everything we take into consideration, we take into consideration comparatively. We weigh our value in comparison to the value of others.

When women look for a man, they want a man they feel is as valuable as they themselves are, if not more so.

For this reason, since most men can’t increase their value via conversation alone, they do their best to decrease the woman’s value — or rather, her perception of her own value.

6. They’ll compliment you, but then make you feel like you could do better:

We all have untapped potential, but we don’t want to hear that we are falling short of what we could possibly accomplish.

Hearing that we aren’t living up to our potential hurts our egos — and that’s exactly what these guys want to do.
Hurting your ego makes it more likely that you’ll be willing to open yourself up to them, as if to prove you are more valuable than these men deem you to be.

7. They do their best to make you feel as if they are doing you a favor by being interested in you:

The goal for any man trying to take you home the night he meets you is making you believe you’re lucky you met him.

He wants you to feel honored that he’s interested in you and in order to do so, he will continually cut you down while simultaneously making himself appear smarter and more entertaining than he actually is.

He will tell you whatever lies he needs to because you’ll probably never find out the truth. Or when you do, it’ll be in the morning when you wake up and notice he’s long gone.

8. They flip back and forth from interested to uninterested in order to confuse you and make you divert your attention to them:

No one likes a boring guy — but a guy who makes you feel a roller coaster of emotions — even if only shallow emotions — is a guy any person would deem interesting. When we are given attention, we want to keep that attention.

But once we know we are not at risk of losing that attention, we find ourselves to be uninterested. Guys understand this logic and use it to their advantage.

9. They’ll keep you on your toes until you practically beg them to take you home:

They want you to feel as if you need them. When it comes to picking up women for one-night stands, this usually means perks, such as money or admittance into select events.

He’ll buy you drinks or bring you to his table. He’ll take you to another bar or club and make sure it’s far enough so that you rely on him for transportation.

He’ll do his best to remove you from your friends and familiar surroundings in order for you to feel as if you are relying on him for either your safety or fun. He wants you to need him, even if only for the next few hours.

10. They will make sure you’re having a bad time so they can “save you” and show you a much better time:

That’s right, some guys will go as far as to ruin your night just so they can then save it.

How this is done depends on the guy and what he himself is capable of, but it can be anything from hiding your purse from you, knocking into someone and having a drink spill all over your dress, to literally getting you thrown out of a venue for some random reason.

As long as you are having a bad time, he has an opportunity to show you a better time. The worse time you’re having, the easier it is for him to improve your night.
