Customs impounds vehicles, poultry products worth N65million at Idiroko, Ogun State The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it has intercepted vehicles, poultry products, bales of used clothes and general goods valued N65 million at Idiroko, Ogun. This is contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Uche Ejesieme, in Lagos on Thursday. According to the statement, the Idiroko axis monitoring team of the command intercepted the goods on May 27, at about 3:25p.m. The statement quoted the leader of the team, Deputy Comptroller Yahaya Usman, as saying that his team had a stiff battle with the smugglers before they were eventually subdued. “We intercepted vehicles, poultry products, 413 bales of used clothing and other general goods suspected to have been smuggled through unapproved routes. “We had mounted surveillance along some of the unapproved routes and we are very optimistic that the anti-smuggling strategies being carefully articulated will always yield desired results,” the statement was quoted as saying by NAN. According to the statement, the FOU Headquarters Monitoring Team Idiroko Axis has been in close collaboration with other Customs formations. It said that the collaboration is to ensure amputation and decimation of the smugglers’ supply chain and sustain the ongoing anti-smuggling campaign.

Cleric advises gay persons to seek medical, spiritual intervention Msgr. Francis Ogunmodede, the Episcopal Vicar/Dean, Lekki Region of the Catholic Arch Diocese of Lagos, has advised gay persons in Nigeria to seek spiritual and medical help against their condition. Ogunmodede gave the advice in an interview with NAN on Thursday in Lagos. The said that being gay was a combination of psychological and medical abnormality that needed treatment because God destroyed gay nations in the Holy Bible. “They are not well, let them admit it, it is not a good thing to say you are a gay (person) and so you remain like that, they should go and get treatment. “They are not well, psychologically, spiritually, morally, it is like people who have all kinds of schizophrenia for example. “They should realise who they are, they are no better than schizophrenics; they should go and get treatment. “It is not a normal way, if God were to create Adam gay what would have happened, would there be procreation? No. “God created solo cum solar, solo man, solar woman to meet together to procreate, if it were just gay, there would have been no procreation in the world. “They are aberrations and of course it is condemnable, from the book of Genesis we have seen it, Paul talks against it in the book of the Romans. “They should be treated, they should go to the doctor, they would be counselled. “The human nature spreads across and so, it is an aberration which you find everywhere, among big men, among small men, poor men, rich men, man has to control himself and his sexuality.” The cleric said that the act was devilish, adding that victims could become normal if they genuinely made up their minds to be converted. |
KIDNAP: Police rescue 100-year-old woman in Kebbi State A 100-year-old woman ,Hawwau Amarea, who was kidnapped by gunmen at Kudin village of Mahuta Local Government Area of Kebbi, has regained her freedom. The Assistant Inspector-General of Police ( AIG ) in charge of Zone 10, Sokoto , Alhaji Bala Hassan, disclosed this to NAN in Sokoto on Thursday. He said Amarea was freed by the operatives attached to the new anti-kidnap squad set up to apprehend those involved in the nefarious act. Hassan stated that the kidnappers demanded for N10 million ransom. “Part of the money was made available and was taken to a point where they were supposed to collect it. “The police then swung into action and rescued the old woman after a gun battle with the kidnappers,” he said. The AIG also said that the kidnappers abandoned the money and fled, and that none of them was arrested, yet. He said the zone had set in motion the machinery to apprehend all those connected with the incident and any other criminal activities in the area. “We are battle-ready to prevent any form of crimiality in our areas of jurisdiction,” he said. Hassan called on residents of the zone to give more support to the Police by giving intelligence report that would help them and other security agencies to discharge their primary assignment diligently. He also solicited the support of the Sultanate Council of Sokoto and the traditional rulers in Kebbi and Zamfara in sensitising the people to the need to be security conscious .
