@ OP, good topic and nice logos. To other contributors, gud comments ( although we should be more constructive with our criticism). Talkin about branding, can we think of brands we knew from the '80s and how many of them seem to have lasted up to the moment that everyone seems brand aware/concious? I think it's true that Nigerian business don't still recognise the importance/value of branding. I think lack of branding (logos and every other component) is the reason why we don't have (truly indigenous) business that are passed on/survive a generation. Some of us can think of strong indigenous brands (however few they might be) e.g Dangote who have succeeded in creating what many previous commentators have identified as the core components of a brand. For those looking to start up businesses, SMEs and all, please invest in a good business identity system and strive to create a distinctive, world class brands. Study local/foreign business/brands who are currently in the industry you're going into. Nigerian businesses should set goals beyond breaking even or just merely being self sustaining or merely being profitable. Dream up business larger than life but start by giving it a good and distinctive identity and character.

samilo88: Nothing pisses me off than watching this recent glo advert. For God sake why put all nig music stars in one advert just to tell us they have some money to throw around yet dem no fit give u small mb to take browse or free credit to make call. When boys full street wey go do those stupid advert for almost nothing. They should borrow a leaf from Guiness, coacola those are the brands whose advert I'll love to watch any day.

that's like the most annoying of all adverts on TV right now, is it just my perception or glo's ads r always off the mark? Saka's porting Video's still flawless...

I'm a self-taught graphic designer looking to make money off my skill. Some of my work has attracted attention and I'm beginning to get clients who are willing to pay for my services.

What i'd like to know is how other professional designers charge for their services, either by the hour or per job done. In this case, the client wants me to state what my charge per ad page (print), 6 page programme/brochure, 12 page and so on.

I have a minimalist approach to my design and employ great creativity in my process.

Would be glad to get your cordial and knowledgeable responses.
