I doubt that the app is available on blackberry. You should get it as a addon for chrome browser on your Computer instead. ambassadorgozie: |
Lol, its not stalking. Stalking would be going to your prospective employer's house or kid's school. DonUjay: |
You should configure it on a web browser first. Get the add-on for chrome broswer, Link your gmail with your side kick account. I haven't really tried out their app yet. gideonjeta: |
It’s a new year and most job seekers will want to intensify their job search efforts especially as we are in a time of mass retrenchment due to the current economic downturn. It’s mostly going to be a game of survival of the fittest the first few months of this year as it relates to job search. One thing I have discovered about most job seekers is that they don’t know how to appraise themselves or monitor their progress. Most jobseekers keep applying for jobs without keeping track of the progress they have made and as such often get frustrated. I am going to show you one way you can be more productive in your job search I am sure you know that the first step in getting a job is getting noticed. You might have the most desirable skill set in the world but it won’t mean anything if no one notices. As a job seeker, the best way to put yourself out there is by sending out your CV to prospective employers via email or job portals (Applicant Tracking Systems). You might have sent in several mails last year and not get a single feedback. I want to put it to you that one of the reasons for this is because the recruiter didn’t even look at the mail at all. The question(s) now is (are), is there a way you can be sure you getting the attention of the recruiter? There is a way to track the mails you send to a recruiter, you can even check the number of times the mail was opened and from where. Discovered this wonderful application mid last year. It’s called Sidekick by Hubspot. Sidekick by HubSpot is actually a CRM software that allows sales persons track their campaigns. This works for the job seeker too since he/she is also selling his abilities and should track his/her campaigns. The software shows you who opens your emails with instant notifications, it even tells you where they opened it from. Sidekick is a Chrome extension and works with Gmail, Outlook for Windows and Outlook.com. The downside of this is that it doesn’t seem to work with Yahoo. It is available as a web app, a chrome add-on and as an android application. Its free to use but with the limitation of 200 mails a month. There are other email tracking applications out there that might work for yahoo, but if you are a Gmail or Outlook user, I suggest you add this to your 2016 job search tactics. It can be used for Nigerian jobs too. Just add Nigeria Lagos to the search query to further narrow it down. Tried it with brassring.com and it gave me results from Nigeria. The results don't compare to that of the international scene but its worth a shot. Kbworld: |

Most job openings at most companies go unadvertised—that is, they're posted on their site, but they're not farmed out to recruiters or posted on massive job boards. That also makes them harder to find. Thankfully, Google can do the job for you. Use these search strings to uncover matching gigs. The market for new jobs is so competitive that most companies don't see a need to spend a ton of money hiring third-party recruiting firms or posting their jobs to the top of big job boards just to get candidates to apply. Between internal referral programs and word-of-mouth, posting a job to the company's "Careers" page is usually enough. To uncover those unadvertised openings, all you need is a little Google-fu. The folks at the Glassdoor Blog explain that all you need to do is cast your net over the major employee applicant tracking systems that companies use to post and manage responses to their job postings Do you know what an applicant tracking system is? Wikipedia defines it as “a software application that enables the electronic handling of recruitment needs.” As a jobseeker, you refer to it as the electronic blackhole that eats up resumes. Specifically, it’s the system you interact with when you apply for a job on a company careers website. One of the more popular applicant tracking systems is produced by a company called “Taleo.” With a little help from Google, you will be able to search company websites that are using the Taleo system. In this way, you will be able to find jobs that are not posted on (insert leading job board name here) and have an edge on your competition. Let me show you how. In the Google search below, I am asking Google to look only on the Taleo.net website (where their system hosts various unadvertised jobs that are typically obtainable when a jobseeker does a search on a company’s careers website). I do this when I search: “site:taleo.net” Afterward, I ask Google to find only those webpages that have “careers” in the title. This is what “intitle:careers” means. Finally, I add in the job title “programmer” because that is the job I am looking for. Of course, just adding a job title is giving me too many broad results. I narrow it down by adding more keywords like “SAS” and “macro.” In short, to search all sites using Taleo, for example: site:taleo.net intitle:careers JOBTITLE OTHERIMPORTANTWORDS Repeat the process for any other applicant tracking systems you know are in wide use, like Kenexa's BrassRing (brassring.com) for example. Nice! |
kunbit:Been a while. Guess sometime in January. You should call them. I am sure they haven't forgotten you. |
Emanehi:Management consulting |
DgRaNdShErifF:Please don't limit yourself to just jobs in core science. There are very few opportunities for those without work experience. I would advice that you look beyond the core sciences and into the management sciences. I am not asking you to abandon your field. You have nothing to loose cos eventually when you do get a job in core science, you would have the advantage of being multidisciplinary. Cheers |
trizzy123:Yes, wrote the test in November 2014, was scheduled for AC sometime in June but had to defer it. I am currently in line waiting for the next one for my dept. |
Read in an email blast that some departments already had interviews. Can anyone confirm this. |
sonofananimal:Ok |
This question, like most interview questions, is not a function of right or wrong. I want to believe the interviewer wants to understand how the applicants thinks. I would advise that one answers this question in context. Pick a particular context, give your answer and explain in that context. Brevity is also very important so dont just go off in a tangent |
Emmanbayo:Yes chrome browser for Android works fine |
For those who applied last year, did you notice that the reference number in the mail from last year is the same as that from this year. |
krystalklear:Thanks. Please Where can I get the hand made ones, or even if you know a place I can order for the machine made ones |
I need some one who can make these kinds of jewelry pendants. It's urgent pls let me know through here.

Well said. This should be in FP |
FunnyDude:You should check with your department to see what others have done in the past. The Specifications in my school then was 25pages, double line spacing |
I have actually never used an actual Applicant Tracking Software before, however I have done a little bit of research. The free CV scan/appraisal jobberman was offering and is still offering is actually done by a software and not an actual person. That software gives an idea of what these softwares do and require. Check their site to try it out. It would give you a basic idea of how the system works Anyways these softwares are programmed with keywords based on individual job requirements. Have you ever applied for a job and got disqualified almost immediately? That was probably a software. Let me try to give an example This actually happened to friend whom I helped check how much his Cv matched a job requirement. The major requirement for the job was 2 years FMCG marketing experience but he had Durable goods marketing experience in his CV. He got a regret mail only a few minutes after submitting. Basically, the software looked for that key word, didn't find it and rejected his application. Basically, the software matches the CV or cover letter to the job requirements and does some form of weighting. The recruiter might ask for the best 200 that match. Only these 200 will then go ahead to be scanned by a human being for discrepancies cos the software can be easily deceived. Other issues relate to formatting, too much formatting can be an issue for ATSs http://www.quintcareers.com/understanding-applicant-tracking-systems/ Open the article in the link above for detailed information on some common dos and donts when submitting a CV to an ATS Hope this answers your question tasceige: |
Looking at your CV now 1.First thing that caught my eye was the fact that you put your date of birth at the top. I want to believe you have a plan, otherwise please let it come much later. 2.Professional profile? Personally, I prefer a summary of who you are and what your CV holds. This way its personal to you and not just some cliche that is on every CV. For example, "A highly focused and self motivated individual with 2 years of work experience in electrical enginerring with interests in advanced circuit design, seeking opportunities to further expand his professional repertoire in a fast paced environment" something like that You would need to rewrite the professional profile if you want to keep it. One or two issues with grammar and tense. 3. Why did you decide to put ur Education next? Please before writing a CV, always ask yourself what information will be useful to the person reading it. Your Education is not a selling point especially at entry level. This is because an entry level person will be re-educated most times. For subsequent CVs that you will write please let your education be on the second page unless the recruiter specifically lists education as a major requirement. 4. These skills and competencies should have come in place of education. However stating that you can do smt doesn't hold water. You need to communicate these skills in the form of achievements. State how you have used these skills to solve problems. Follow the PAR approach. That is Problem Action Result. For example, you say you are highly numerical yet there is only one instance of numbers on you CV... Hope you catch my drift. I could send you a sample CV, send me a mail through my profile. 5. Work experience should also follow the PAR approach. 6. Your interests...not very interesting. These are hobbies not interests. Example of interests - Data collection and analysis etc. Your CV doesn't show that you are creative writer. The reason why those companies may have not invited you is probably cos your CV was scanned by a software. These softwares look for keywords. A lot of the CVs we write in this part of the world often get these softwares confused. For example, you are still entry level age but maybe the softwares they use couldn't find your age at the top of the CV. Let every section in your CV have headings. That been said, here are my final wordwordsbas regards this 1. Delete this CV and forget that you ever had it. 2. Write another CV for the each role u want to apply for taking into cognizance the key words used in the advert. Also take note of what the recruiter is expecting to see and prioritize the info on your CV as such. Once again, feel free to contact me, just you cos I like the fact that you reached out for help. I dont have any job to give but I can always give my opinion every now and then. All the best P.S the gist above may seem a little disjointed, wrote it in a hurry |

Seun Osewa, Founder, Nairaland.com ” All my business projects before Nairaland were failures.........my web hosting business failed after just 3 months with only one customer and I ran out of money, ..... I couldn’t execute many other projects....my blogs and the mobile phone forum were successful but not profitable." Like Bill Gates, dropped out of Obafemi Awolowo University to pursue his dream. Was encouraged to get certifications and regular job after business failures For 2 years, k ept researching business ideas and presenting them to friends and family, but no capital was forthcoming By March 2005 (at 23 years), started Nairaland as a general purpose discussion forum website with a bias towards issues of interest to Nigerians. Got assistance from Mr. John Sagai Adams, who posted a link to the forum on his mailing list and Mr. Yomi Adegboye (click to read his profile- Mr Mobility: Used over 135 phones) Opened a long overdue office in 2013 at Ota, Ogun State, after managing the largest online forum in Africa for 8 years with over one million registered users, attracting zero external funding, no official logo, no registered office or employees, except for its founder and a few freelance moderators On 22 June 2014, hackers gained access to the website's host server and backup, and maliciously deleted all its content. Three days later, Nairaland was back online after some data had been recovered from a remote backup....data from 10 January 2014 through the date of the attack was lost. Nairaland over the years, kept its simplistic nature and only optimised its content for mobile devices in July 2014 Such is Seun’s abhorrence for fame..... little or no interviews . So anti-social is Seun that the car he drives is not even in public domain Today, Nairaland currently has over 1.4m registered accounts and considerable number of unregistered users 8th most visited site in Nigeria (and the most visited indigenous site) , 3% of Nigerian Internet users are registered on Nairaland Has a monthly average of 16m visits from 6.9 m unique visitors and 60.1m pageviews Source: https://www./nairalands-33-year-old-owner-kayode-osokoya cc: seun, lalasticala
