Many people have been asking me if investing in agriculture is profitable or not.
In all fearness I understand the reason why they are asking this question.And some of the reasons are;
1. Many of them have invested and incurred losses
2. Many of them have esterblished but could not sustain it.
3. Some people that in the business are also complaining.
4. The social status of most Nigerian farmers is not encouraging.
To mention few.But the fact still remain the same; as long as human beings continue to live and multiply the demand for agricultural products also will continue to increase.And any country that doesn't Prioritise agriculture will pay bitterly for it.Hence this economy recession has opened our eyes and everybody want to invest in agriculture,which is a good thing,but has to be done properly.
FACTS ABOUT AGRIBUSINESS
1. It is a project that required reasonable capital.
2. The adequate standard operational procedure must be considered in the esterblishment of the project from the beginning to the end.
3. It is very profitable,more than any other business you can think of.
4. It is not a lay man’s business, you have to be technically sound and organized before you can manage any agribusiness.
5. Experience is also required,if you don’t have,get somebody that has it.
6. Basic requirements for the management and daily routine must be given priority.
In summary fund,technical know how, experience and good management practice are requirements for esterblishing a successful and profitable agribusiness project.
But the fact is you don’t have to possess all these requirements before you can invest in agriculture.
The good thing to know is that if you have money you can collaborate with somebody that has all the required attributes listed above with good business idea but must be backed up with legal agreement for documentation and reference purposes.
Hence the purpose of creating this thread is to ;
1. Guide investor on how to properly invest in agriculture
2. To coordinate collaborations between investors and existence agribusiness owner with adequate and appropriate legal documentation.
