Dreamchacer2: Transit free routes (transfer without a visa) from Lagos/Abuja to Barbados are tricky. It's easy to list Istanbul, Havana, Panama City, Luanda and Brazil and say they are transit visa free. One should consider which airline is flying the particular leg of the journey, is it in a partnership with other airlines (star allegiant), what terminal the airline is entering in a particular airport, what about checked luggage, and how long a delay you have in connecting between flights.
GRU, Brazil, Sao Paulo is not entirely transit free. If you arrive in one terminal and have to depart from a different terminal, you are NOT free to transit WITHOUT A transit VISA. You will have to pass thru Immigration Control. I don't know for a fact in practice because I never had to test the theory BUT I did contact GRU Airport and ask them directly, along with TAAG Airlines and the Brazilian Consulate. If you arrive in Terminal 2 by Ethiopian or Royal Air Maroc, then you need to stay in Terminal 2 and depart with a partner airline, if you are headed to Barbados. All of the large, commercial airlines like Emirates, Turkish Air, United, etc arrive in Terminal 3 of GRU Airport and none of these airlines fly to Barbados from Terminal 3.
Obviously obtaining a transit visa is urged, as you don't want to be the test subject, who gets turned away by Immigrations and told to return home. Not sure what this conversation is aimed at but you need a transit visa only if you intend to exit the airport for most countries ie Most major cities have more than 2 airports so if your flight landed in one airport and your connecting flight is in another airport in same city, you will need a transit visa bit if its same airports bit different terminals, you don't need a transit visa but the visa of your final destination.I have had many connecting flights to europe when i didn't have a visa and it wasnt a problem since i was not exiting the airport for any reason but if your layover is long and you need to be lodged in a hotel outside the airport, you will need a transit visa but if there are no plan of exiting the airport you arrived in and your connecting flight is same airport but different terminals then you do not need a transit visa for most countires |

Supernaturalone: It's only an interview that gives you the opportunity to present your case and documents that support your intention to give birth. You cannot do that via interview waiver aka drop box. I'll suggest you call the contact line to ask if you can switch interview type, failing which you may have to make a new application. Still not cast in stone..yeah many of us have been invited for 221g but a friend did drop box recently with her hubby.she had her baby in 2017 in Dallas.Bill was approximately 11k because she had a labour scare.well they both got their Visas renewed via drop box this March.Truth is we are not sure really what these guys want or are looking for..Maybe its the bill spent but she didnt even have the opportunity to present her bills via drop box...Its so confusing sometimes..but nothing is absolute |

aamey15: Thank you for your prompt response, i have been refreshing the page since.
Hmm just what i tot, i guess hubby just felt its going to be an earlier date, so can i have an option of changing from interview waiver to normal interview and maybe then search for emergency application date? or i have to do another application The suggestions here are not absolute...I mean no one is a Visa officer here..You can try your luck otherwise follow your heart... |

FOLALANA: My Wife had a similar issue. We got our visa in Feb 2016 but she was not pregnant at that time. When we decided to have our baby in the US before the expiration of the visa, we sent an email in March 2017 to the embassy to seek clarification our current visa was valid for the trip or if we needed to apply for another visa..
The feedback from the US embassy was that there is no legal requirement to inform them that we seeking to give birth in the United States or that your purpose of travel has changed. We were advised to show the border protection agents upon arrival in the U.S our birth plan, which would include correspondence with your doctor, the cost of the delivery, any receipts showing prepayments for care and evidence that we have the ability to pay for all costs while in the U.S. up to and including living expenses.
Hope this helps.
Regards My dear that was then when the Embassy were still lenient on people travelling on a B1/B2 Visa.A friend of mine who got her Visa for tourism and used it for vacation 3 times sent same Intent notification and her Visa was revoked immediately and she was asked to apply for a medical visa and schedule an interview. With all that is happening its just best to be upfront.I applied for a B2 visa in January for Vacation via dropbox but was called for a 221g.I choose B2 even though i was not pregnant because I knew i was trying and it could happen within the 2 years validity so I will mention that upfront..Things are more stringent now so its just better to be safe |

I think its to send in your budget sheet and the correspondences you got from doc and hospital.Same one you used in getting your Visa.If youre sponsoring then you may want to include your bank statement i guess |

NIFES: Hi mama. Have you been able to pick a date for your follow up interview now?
I have joined the search o and the hourly checks are tiring. My dear I am still on it o..No date yet..I recently initiated a feedback on my page and complained about not getting dates and my travel period being close, also asking if i could be moved to Abuja just incase Lagos is fully booked..Atleast when I checked yesterday I saw the feedback had been escalated unlike the other ones where they will just respond saying dates are the discretion of bla bla bla and cl9se it out so hopefully something comes out of this escalation |

VeraPee: Good Day Everyone and happy weekend to you all. I have been following this thread for a while and have found it very useful. Thanks to everyone here who has kept the thread alive and active.
I intend to travel to the USA to have my second baby. So my story is this.... I initially applied for a vacation visa October last year via drop box. But I was asked to schedule a follow-up interview which will be in May this year. In between this long wait, I am now pregnant and would want to have my baby in the US(I had my 1st there too and paid all my bills). My questions:
1. I intend to declare to the VO my change of plans during my interview but what is my chance of getting a visa since the original purpose is now different from the reality on ground?
2. Does anyone here have a Dr's contact in New Jersey who I can contact to schedule an appointment? I have tried a few but they are not willing to issue any formal evidence of appointment which I can present at the embassy (in the event that they ask for it)
3. In my application, my destination is New Jersey, however, I already have a Dr. in Texas who is willing to birth the baby and also issue an evidence of appointment. Do I stand a chance at my interview since my original application is to go to New Jersey?
Your kind opinions will be highly appreciated....Gracias Plans can always change giving the long months between you drop box application and interview....Any thing can happen with 4 months plus including pregnancy. Just be truthful and say it as it played out.Your destination can change too if your plans change.Youre no longer going for vacation but birthing so you can switch to Texas too.You don't exactly need an appointment from a dr.Just quotes from them on the cost will do and your budget sheet. But be careful not to present a quote from NewJersey which is some worth pricey and then you get your visa but end up using Texas with a more cheaper rate. This is currently some of the struggle so if you present a quote and your visa gets issued, use that medical facility or another within the same price bracket to avoid the wahala everyone has now |

Please guys quick response..My friend applied for visa via drop box in November but was invited for interview in December. She finally got a date for the 14th of March. The purpose of her trip is vacation/attend a wedding...A few days ago she found out she is pregnant and her interview being so close she started contacting hospitals but yet to get a correspondence given that she found out barely a week to her interview. Her purpose of visit remains valid as she still plans to go for the wedding in May but now that she is a few weeks pregnant, the story has changed...What can she do given her close interview date...
Secondly has anyone gotten date recently for interview..I am still unable to get a date o..Its been 1 month now..I have written and called but still discretion response |

CoCoLav: They haven't opened up an interview date for your file because they are still running their background checks. As soon as they have received a recommendation on your file, they will open up a date for your interview. This is why interviews are usually brief, because most times they already have the full information they need and a decision/recommendation has been made. When they are ready for you, they will give you an interview slot. I don't think so o as I saw some dates that first week I picked my passport but I needed to be sure I would make it as I w9rk and I dont live in Lagos or Abuja which means I need to plan a travel. So i didn't pick a date till a week later and since then all the dates are gone.I think its about availability rather than checks |
