Foreign AffairsUN Security Council Approves Russian-drafted Resolution On Syria Ceasefire by bonechamberlain(op): 2:05am On Jan 01, 2017
The UN Security Council has unanimously passed a resolution drafted by Russia that endorses a nationwide Syrian ceasefire, which was earlier brokered by Moscow and Ankara.

Security Council members welcomed the agreements reached through the mediation of Russia and Turkey, and stressed the importance of its “full and immediate implementation.”

The Security Council also expressed its support for the “efforts taken by Russia and Turkey and aimed at stopping violence in Syria and launching a political process.” Council members stressed that they see the Astana meeting as an important step in the process toward the reconciliation of the Syrian conflict.

The UN body also reaffirmed its commitment to the “sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic” and reiterated that the only way to resolve the Syrian crisis is to begin a complex inter-Syrian political process.

Western countries expressed cautious optimism about the agreements brokered by Moscow and Ankara. The US deputy ambassador to the UN, Michelle Sison, said that the US expects the truce to be observed across the whole of Syria while the British deputy UN envoy Peter Wilson said that a system is required to independently monitor the ceasefire.

Russian UN envoy Vitaly Churkin called on his colleagues not to confuse and complicate the situation and not to discredit the agreements brokered by Moscow and Ankara.

At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to all UN Security Council members and thanked them for their contribution to the peace process in Syria. He particularly praised the role of Turkey in reaching the ceasefire agreement.

He went on to say that, if all Security Council members “focus on the essence of the matter” and put their private interests aside, the UN body is “capable of taking important decisions.”

The draft resolution prepared by Russia was officially presented to the UNSC on Friday, a day after Moscow sent the texts of two agreements signed by the Syrian government and seven armed opposition groups to the UN body.

The documents that “establish a ceasefire as well as obliges the Syrian government and the opposition to start direct talks in Astana in late January,” Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin told journalists on Friday, speaking about the documents he presented at the Security Council meeting together with a draft resolution supporting the ceasefire in Syria.

He also said that all groups that genuinely want to join talks between the Syrian government and the opposition in Astana scheduled for early 2017 are welcome in the Kazakh capital.

Foreign AffairsRe: Russia Will Not Expel Anyone In Response To U.S. Sanctions, Says Putin by bonechamberlain(m): 6:52pm On Dec 30, 2016
Putin keeps showing the clown Obama that he is more smarter and intelligent, always two steps ahead.

Vladimir Putin, the master of international politics.

Foreign AffairsPutin: Russia Will Not Expel Anyone In Response To US Sanctions by bonechamberlain(op): 6:47pm On Dec 30, 2016
The Russian president has rejected a suggestion of the foreign ministry to expel 35 American diplomats in response to a similar move by the US. He said Obama’s act was designed to provoke a reaction, but Russia would not take the bait.

“We reserve the right to retaliate, but we will not sink to the level of this irresponsible ‘kitchen’ diplomacy. We will take further moves on restoring Russian-American relations based on the policies that the administration of President-elect Donald Trump adopts,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a statement published by the Kremlin website.

Putin said that, unlike the Obama administration, Russia will not target foreign diplomats and their families days before New Year’s celebrations.

“We will not forbid families and children from spending the New Year’s holidays at the places they are used to. Moreover, I invite the children of all American diplomats with accreditation in Russia to New Year’s and Christmas festivities in the Kremlin,” the Russian president said.

Putin said he regretted that US President Barack Obama is ending his term “in such a way,” but that he extended his New Year’s congratulations to the outgoing US president and his family nevertheless.

“I congratulate President-elect Donald Trump and the entire American people!” he concluded.

The Kremlin said it will send a government plane to the US to evacuate the expelled diplomats and their family members. Earlier, there were reports that the diplomats were having problems buying tickets on such short notice, with airlines already booked by New Year’s travelers.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov suggested that Russia respond to the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats from the US by expelling 35 American diplomats from Russia. Similarly, the eviction of a Russian diplomatic staff from two vacation houses in the US would be mirrored by a similar eviction of Americans in Russia.

President Obama targeted Russian diplomats as a part of wider sanctions against Russian, which he justified by the alleged interference by the Russian government in the November presidential election in the US. Moscow denies the allegations.

The US claimed that the vacation houses had been used for espionage. Russia insists that they were used by the diplomatic staff to spend holidays with their families.

Foreign AffairsRussia Sanctions? Trump Says US Needs To ‘get On With Our Lives’ Instead by bonechamberlain(op): 10:56pm On Dec 29, 2016
Responding to reports that the Obama administration wants to slap Russia with new sanctions for allegedly interfering in the 2016 election, President-elect Donald Trump said the US needs to “get on with our lives,” as “nobody knows exactly what’s going on.”

Donald Trump once again contested allegations put forth by the US intelligence community claiming that Russia orchestrated hack attacks to disrupt the Democratic Party’s activities. On Wednesday, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) said during a trip to Latvia’s capital, Riga, that Moscow should expect new sanctions for allegedly interfering in the 2016 election.

Asked by reporters if imposing the sanctions would make any sense, Trump replied: “I think we ought to get on with our lives. I think that computers have complicated lives very greatly. The whole age of computer has made it where nobody knows exactly what’s going on.”

Though Trump said he wasn’t familiar with Graham’s remarks, he did note: “We have speed. We have a lot of other things, but I’m not sure you have the kind of security that you need. But I have not spoken with the senators and I certainly will be over a period of time.”

Moscow hopes that the new sanctions may be lifted by the incoming Trump administration, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s special envoy Andrey Krutskikh said on Thursday.

The diplomat added that, given Trump’s promise to reverse up to 70 percent of Obama’s executive orders, “the latest restrictions that hamper our cooperation are very likely to be part of those 70 percent,” as cited by RIA Novosti.

His statement comes amid media reports that the incoming administration may take steps towards mending Washington and Moscow’s badly bruised relationship. According to German magazine Bild, Trump is looking to lift sanctions on Russia, as has been recommended by American political heavyweight Henry Kissinger.

The article adds that Kissinger, who was secretary of state and national security advisor during the Nixon administration, has “clear ideas” about the future relations of the two nuclear superpowers.

The outgoing Obama administration and the Democratic camp maintain that ‘Russian hack attacks’ were instrumental in undermining popular support for Hillary Clinton and paving the way to Trump’s victory. Earlier in December, Barack Obama threatened Russia with covert and public payback, which he said would be carried out in a “thoughtful, methodical way” and could come at any time.

On Wednesday, Secretary of State John Kerry confirmed Obama’s intention, saying the outgoing president reserves “the right to respond to Russia at the place and time and manner of his choosing… Believe me, it will be his choosing.”

For his part, Trump has dismissed the bizarre allegations that Moscow tried to interfere in the 2016 US presidential elections as “conspiracy theory.”

The claims that Russia was behind the DNC hack have also been disputed by CIA and NSA veterans, who wrote in mid-December that “harder evidence of a technical nature points to an inside leak, not hacking – by Russians or anyone else.”

The group called Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity stressed in a memo that “given what we know of NSA’s existing capabilities, it beggars belief that NSA would be unable to identify anyone – Russian or not – attempting to interfere in a US election by hacking.”

It said the emails contained in the Democratic Party servers “were, in fact, not hacked,” but leaked to WikiLeaks and other sites that subsequently published them. In turn, WikiLeaks urged Obama to “submit any Putin documents” to them so they can “be authenticated to our standards if he wants them to be seen as credible.”

CultureRe: The Fulanization Of Ilorin; The Power Of Curses by bonechamberlain(op): 12:55pm On Dec 29, 2016
RedboneSmith:
There was no Fulanization in Ilorin. Fulanization (just like Latinization and Arabization) should have come with the adoption of the Fulani language. Since that did not happen, and since the Fulanis forgot their Fulani language and picked up Yoruba language and even names, it is more correct to say that what happened in Ilorin was the Yorubanization of Fulani people.
it's obvious from the right up that a fulani man Alimi who was invited by Afonja for protection killed him. It's not about language but desecration of culture cause up to this day what we have in Ilorin is an emir of Ilorin, not oba or Aare and emir's do they speak Yoruba or Fulani.

The message though is about the effect of curses

CultureThe Fulanization Of Ilorin; The Power Of Curses by bonechamberlain(op): 11:31am On Dec 29, 2016
Most people would doubt that curses are truly powerful some disregard it, but the most dangerous thing that can happen to any human is for a curse to be laid on you. Let us take the issue of ilorin in Kwara state as an example as written and recorded by Samuel Johnson In his works the history of the Yorubas. This is an excerpt from the book.

At the death of oyabi, the Are-Ona Kanakafo (the head of the Oyo Empire) Afonja, the founder of Ilorin demanded and was given the title of Are-Ona Kanakafo. The Alaafin of Oyo (King) Aole did not support Afonja's new position. The refusal of Alaafin Aole to recognize and accept Afonja as the new Kanakafo angered Afonja. In 1871, he (Afonja) sent an empty Calabash to the Alafin Aole, thereby signifying that he no longer acknowledged the authority of the Alaafin. Aole had no choice than to accept and in traditional fashion committed suicide. Before he died, Alaafin Aole uttered his famous curses on both Afonja and the Yoruba land.

From Alaafin palace forecourt, Aole shot three arrows, one to the north, one to the south and one to the west, saying: "May curse be on you for your disloyalty and disobedience, so let your children disobey you. If you send them on an errand, let them never to bring you word again. To all this points I shot my arrows you would be carried as slaves! My curse will carry you to the sea and beyond the seas, slaves will become your Master.

Then smashing an earthenware dish, he shouted. "Broken Calabash can be mended but not a broken dish, so let my curse be irrevocable". Many historians and scholars believe that the curse seemed to take immediate effect and there had neither been peace or unity in Yoruba land from then.

Afonja later invited Alimi, the fulani itinerant Muslim preacher to ilorin. Instead of bringing total protection for embattled Afonja, he was killed by the jihadist. Kingship of Ilorin has eluded Afonja's descendants till date.

Excerpt from the "history of the Yorubas" by Samuel Johnson.

Notable men who have one time answered the title of Kakanfo are Samuel Akintola who was murdered in the coup of 1965 and M.K.O Abiola who despite warnings to reject the title Are-Ona Kakanfo, accepted it and later died in prison.

People should be very careful of who they offend and the kind of titles and awards they acquire.
There is power in curses.

Foreign AffairsRussia & Turkey Agree On Nationwide Syrian Ceasefire Plan – Ankara by bonechamberlain(op): 1:22am On Dec 29, 2016
Russia and Turkey have reached an agreement on a plan that would involve a ceasefire between the Syrian governmental forces and the opposition armed groups on a nationwide scale, Turkey's foreign minister said.

The minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, said that the two countries have come to an agreement on the ceasefire issue and even prepared a text of the truce accord to be presented to the warring parties.

"There are two texts ready on a solution in Syria. One is about a political resolution and the other is about a ceasefire. They can be implemented any time," Cavusoglu told reporters on the sidelines of an awards ceremony at the presidential palace in Ankara, as cited by Reuters.

A source in the Russian Foreign Ministry also confirmed the existence of the agreement to Gazeta.ru.

However, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on the agreement reportedly reached by Moscow and Ankara. “I cannot answer this question now, I do not have sufficient information right now,” he said, in reply to a question about the agreement, as cited by TASS.

However, he confirmed that Russia and Turkey are engaged in a “constant” discussion in Astana of the possibilities of talks between the various sides in the Syrian conflict.

The ceasefire plan is expected to be implemented in all areas where the Syrian Army is engaged in a fight with the armed opposition and will come into force as early as midnight on Wednesday, December 28, (22:00 GMT), Turkish state Anadolu news agency reported earlier, citing an unidentified Turkish state official.

The agreement does not include terrorist organizations such as Al Nusra Front and Islamic State (IS, former ISIS/ISIL), which would not be part of the deal, Anadolu says. A source close to the Russian Foreign Ministry told Gazeta.ru that Kurdish militia units known as YPG are also excluded from the ceasefire.

If the ceasefire is successfully implemented and upheld, negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition will start in the Kazakh capital, Astana, in early 2017, the news agency added.

The talks would not include the United States and are expected to be separate from the UN-brokered negotiations that were held in Geneva several times but failed to bring any significant results.

Meanwhile, a representative of one of the opposition factions told Reuters that no agreement on a ceasefire had been reached with the opposition yet. "The details of the ceasefire deal have yet to be officially presented to the factions," he said.

A Saudi-backed Syrian opposition group said it knew nothing of the negotiations, but supported a ceasefire.

UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura welcomed the efforts by Moscow, Ankara and Tehran to establish a nationwide ceasefire in Syria and launch a meaningful political dialogue between various sides of the Syrian conflict, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Russia, Iran and Turkey said last week they were ready to help broker a peace deal after holding talks in Moscow, where they adopted a declaration setting out the principles any agreement should adhere to.

The declaration was passed by the three countries during the negotiations in Moscow on December 20.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow, Tehran and Ankara have come up with a document that aims to improve the situation in war-torn Syria. These measures are intended to help bring about “the revival of the political process to end the Syrian conflict,” he said.

At that time, Cavusoglu also mentioned the necessity of implementing a ceasefire in all parts of Syria. “Today we are talking about the ceasefire, and the ceasefire should be in all Syria,” he said, adding this shouldn’t apply to attacks on terrorist groups such as Islamic State or Al-Nusra Front.

The declaration was also approved by the respective defense ministers. The approval of the declaration at the level of defense and foreign ministers shows a willingness to “act as guarantors and jointly resolve the urgent issues of the Syrian crisis,” Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said at that time, commenting on the issue.

It's over for the Wahabbi sect of the House of Saud since their preferred stooge (Obama) leaves office and their bought and paid candidate (Hilary Clinton) lost to Trump.

From Aleppo to Sambisa to Mosul, the Saudis are cutting funding and closing down their Sunni terrorist outfits.

As far as I am concerned the handlers an coordinators of the Saudi funded Boko Haram group simply walked into Sambisa forest and ordered the end of operation jihad.

The suspicious and quick military operation to "liberate" sambisa forest with no single captured boko terrorist who they want us to believe fled (to where exactly? ) is a sham and exposed the entire lunacy of boko haram as well funded , protected and backed by northern Muslim elements in power.

Thank God for Trump!
well said, thank God we still have rational thinking humans in this country. It's very clear that all terrorist are sponsored or supported by Saudi Arabia, with the Obama administration covering them. A new leader who is not a friend of Islam and terrorism has come and the Saudis knows that their evil terrorist operations in the world would be exposed so they have the pack up and clean up before January 20.
