UdechiHD: Former Senate President under Shagari! His enthronement to the number 3 position was one of the exploits of the Igbo when in authority. An Ogoja minority got the number 3 seat in government position.
VP Alex Ekwueme and others ensured that the whole south got their due. But the reverse is the case under Yoruba headship. If it doesn’t go to Fulani, the remaining crumbs is thrown to the SW.
Southerners should compare and contrast.
South under Igbo leadership
Below were the positions the south got under Igbo leadership (1979 - 1988)
No. 2,3,4 and 5
1. President - NW - Shehu Shagari 2. VP - SE - Alex Ekwueme 3. Senate President - SS - Joseph Wayas 4. Speaker - SE - Edwin Umezuoke (NPN/NPP Alliance) 5. CJN - SW - Justice Atanda Fatai William
South under Yoruba leadership - (2015 - 2023)
1. President - NW - Muhammadu Buhari 2. VP - SW - Osibanjo 3. Senate President - NC/NE - Saraki/Lawan 4. Speaker - NE/SW - Dogara/Gbajabiamila 5. CJN - SS/NW - Onnoghen/Muhammed
NB: Under the Igbo headship, the south took part in government decisions and the country were united and prospered. No official among the top 5 were undemocratically removed as Buhari did to Onnoghen etc. However, under the Yoruba’s the south are treated like second class citizens. Permit me to share |

Ijaw struggle hinged on enriching the politicians and cultist, while the ordinary man is left with crumbs. But when you give them the opportunity, they won't utilize it. GEJ spent 6 good years as President and his impact was barely felt by the Niger Delta.

macIB: You are very right. Infact, Alagba was a babalawo who emigrated from ilesa to Lagos before he married Erelu kuti. You’re right. Alagba is from Onigbongbo compound in Ilesa. He trekked from Ilesa to Lagos lagoon and was ferried by the Awori fishermen for the sole purpose of marring Erelu Kuti. He really tried, because as at then, they were no capable sons of Eko fit enough to marry the the last Benin regent and the need to inform Osun Yoruba’s for help. |

helinues: And all are Yoruba names..
Then who are those claiming Lagos is no man's land when none of their grandfathers ever attained the position? Yoruba names but a strong and verifiable Benin origin. Oba Akiolu and his Eko chief wouldn’t mind throwing any indignant Yoruba to the lagoon for trying to change their history. Eko is Benin land not Yoruba - Oba Akiolu 2015 |

seunmsg: Stop lying. SL Ikoku was not imprisoned with AWO. He ran away to Ghana.
Enahoro did not support Awo’s presidential bid in 1979. He didn’t even join UPN. If he had joined UPN, he would have been elected the governor of Bendel state instead of Ambrose Alli. How would you expect SL Ikoku and Enahoro to stand with UPN when it was a gathering of tribalistic Yoruba’s. What did they gain supporting Awo? If not for the military coup Enahoro would have ended his youthful years in prison. The notable thing SL Ikoku gained from supporting the Yoruba’s was a street named after him in GRA Ikeja. How would you feel if you were in the shoes of SL Ikoku and Enahoro. |
Politics › Re: How Yoruba Delegation’s Indecision Denied Awolowo Joint Presidential Ticket by Bonessaw(m): 7:55am On Apr 05, 2020 |
seunmsg: Stop revising history. Awolowo supported SL Ikoku with everything he had. He defeated his father to emerge as the only AG member in the eastern house of assembly because of Awolowo’s support. After that, Awolowo sacked Ayo Rosiji as the party’s Secretary General and replaced him with Ikoku. That decision was why Akintola left the Jos convention of 1962 angrily and everything broke down between him and Awo.
Your assertion that Ikoku went to prison with Awo is false. When Awo was arrested, Ikoku ran away to Ghana. He was in Ghana till the military took over. He never went to prison.
In 1979, did he join Awo’s UPN? Did he support Awolowo’s presidential campaign? Did he betray Awo or not? He did not betray Awolowo. SL Ikoku was sentence to prison with Awo but as you said fled to Ghana. And for your information, AG didn’t win the Arochukwu federal election because of an unknown Awo in the east, it was solely by the political Mavericks of a young SL Ikokwu who emerged a strong opposition to the NCNC in the eastern house. Awo saw in SL Ikokwu a trusted ally! He saw similar traits in Enahoro and had to make these guys his eyes and ears. And these men repaid the faith by sticking their necks for him. |
Politics › Re: How Yoruba Delegation’s Indecision Denied Awolowo Joint Presidential Ticket by Bonessaw(m): 7:48am On Apr 05, 2020 |
seunmsg: That was why I concluded that Akintola was right. People like Enahoro, J.S. Tarka, S.L. Ikoku that instigated the AG crisis all betrayed Awo when it mattered most in 1979.
Awo had the right ideas about governance but his politics was something else. He should have listened to Akintola’s advice and forged a good relationship with the Hausa/Fulani political elites. The Igbos he was trying to win over never gave a shiit about him. Nonsense, yet the same Enahoro and SL Ikokwu we’re sentenced to prison with Awolowo for treason, while the so called Akintola and his Yoruba betrayers supported the north into incarcerating their own. |

seunmsg: [s]What concrete facts are you talking about?
Awolowo contested the same election with an Igbo running mate so what’s your point? Did Igbos vote for the Awolowo/Umeadi ticket? Did Azikiwe contest with a Yoruba running mate?
Awolowo wanted the alliance more than anybody but Zik never wanted it out of jealousy. He preferred Shagari to win the election and acted as a spoiler for Awolowo. Even at that, Awolowo still demonstrated his willingness to work with Igbos by choosing a running mate from the south east despite protest from so many of his party members. At the end of the day, Igbos opted to vote for Shagari. After the election, they even formed a government of national unity with Shagari’s NPN similar to the NPC/NCNC alliance of the first republic[/s]. Lies! Zik’s NPP was alone. And Igbos didn’t vote for Shagari’s NPN. NPN was dominant in the SS states and north, while NPP won Imo, Anambra and Plateau states. The SS didn’t even vote Zik. The SW are the only tribalistic tribe who always vote theirs while push the buck on others. |

Guy Ikokwu is a pure Awoist. This was a man who was at loggerhead with his father Alvan Ikokwu, was a thorn to even Azikiwe himself and was even sentenced with Awolowo to prison for treason.
Today the Yoruba’s don’t even mention his sacrifices for their tribalistic struggle. The same way they cornered the NADECO struggle and made it a post Yoruba nationalism. Guy Ikokwu must be reeling in pains now for fighting a foolish agenda with the Yoruba’s. Any non-Yoruba fighting for the SW political struggle ends up being forgotten and disgraced. Ask the late Nwankwo and Enahoro the NADECO leaders. |

Be grateful for the amount you earned, while doing basically nothing. Some of you have been feeding on government money since the first batch and have refused to relinquish that position for recent unemployed graduates.
If the government is not callous, the N-Power idea should be a 3 years intake thing where new Graduates are given an opportunity to benefit too. But that’s not what it is. |
