Romance / Re: How I Lost My Friend In A Swimming Pool. by brainhack(m): 8:59pm On Aug 24
bobonla:
I was close to the pool when he push me in, I went beneath the water after sometime i surfacedand started floating. I was like guy so u can't swim? He said he can't ooo. Then he asked if that place was deep. I said no its not deep oo. He didn't know I was floating, but that place was over twice my height or so.

One thing that can save your life is learning to stay calm in life or death situations.

Op should have told him it was deep when he asked so he could have prepared his mind. It was that unexpected slip in footing that made him panic.

I remember when i was Junior secondary school, I went for my first swimming lesson.

I saw my other class mates in the middle of the pool. I had to ask how deep it was, i was told by one fool angry it wasn’t deep. Then he led me by the hand to that spot.

Omo immediately he let go, the water covered me by about 10 inches. The young fool had already looked away and was swimming to where babes were. You would think people would easily notice someone drowning, nay that is far from the truth.

Since i was young but i had learnt to stay calm and think in dire situation. It was God and that instinct that saved.

I couldn’t swim at that moment. So i just started leaping forward to the swallow side. Those 1-2 minutes were the longest period of my life. I would sink covered by water, then leap when my legs touched the floor of the pool. I kept going forward to the shallow side inch by inch.

Ifeanyi if you are reading this, God will give you the appropriate punishment for the event of that day angry

The gods of theater won’t forgive me, if I don’t mention my favorite TV show moment thus far:

Interview with the Vampire (Season 2, Episode 1)
I had to recorded this scene.

Scene - Louis and Claudia leaving Romania in a carriage after a failed attempt to find more (vampires) like them. Claudia was clearly depressed under the weight of her potential eternal existence.

The music that ushered in the scene, made me believe that how well light classical music can fit into a scene is the litmus test for the concentration of magic within it ✨

The dialogue that ensued was… poetry. I must warn, it is not suitable for the heartbroken; hiding behind huge emotional defenses. Don’t watch this scene, those walls would come crashing down.

Louis (to Claudia)

- “I wanna say something to you.”
- “I don’t need to hear anything back, I just need you to hear me.”
- “Hard words and soft words.”

- “The Hard.”
- “Our life is shit. It’s been shit.”
- “It is shit. It’s gonna be shit again.”
- “Stop feeling sorry for yourself.”
- “No one’s watching, no one cares.”
- “A shit life beats no life.”
- “But where we’re going now, we can’t be running away again.”
“Doesn’t mean we forget what we saw. What she did in front of us.”
- “If I see you going that way, I’m going pull you back. I don’t need that from you.”
- “As long as you walk the Earth, I’ll never taste the fire, you understand me?”
- “We’re going to find others like us.”
- “And if it ain’t here, cos life is shit, or I Bleep it up again, or you Bleep it up.”
- “we’ll go to the next place.”
- “We can’t be the only good ones out there.”

- “soft words.”
- “If you were the last vampire on Earth, it would be enough.”

Yesterday I was thinking 3 Body Problem is the best sci-fi i have seen this year.

Then i started Dark Matter today, though it’s predictable (I immediately knew the masked guy hassling him, was “him from another world”; coming to steal his life)

It did reduce my expectation a tiny bit because I like my sci-fi with a side of what the fork is going on but still its looks like I’m in for a ride.

When it comes to sci-fi, we are eating good already. Come June 13, it’s gonna be Diabolical

The Ass and his Masters - Aesop

An ass, who feels he 's been over labored by his present master who is a herb seller made a petition to Jupiter to be released from his present service and provided with another master.

Jupiter, after warning him that he might not be favored in the hand of the new master, granted his request on his insistence and caused him to be sold to a tile-maker.

Shortly afterwards, the same Ass finding that he had heavier loads to carry and harder work in the brick-field, regretted his action, he petitioned for another change of master. Jupiter, warning him again that it would be the last time that he could grant his request, made it happened and he was sold to a tanner.

After few days of the hardest work done in his entire life that would send him early to grave, the Ass found that he had fallen into worse hands, he groaned and said; "It would have been better for me to have been either starved by the one, or to have been overworked by the other of my former masters, than to have been bought by my present owner, who will even after I am dead tan my hide, and make me useful to him."

Solid 7 rating for me, though i believe it’s writer could have evolved it to something more, given its promising premise.

Erenjp:

So Gojo should have willingly murdered thousands of innocent civilians...

And choosing not to murder them made him incompetent?

Gojo is not a villain.

From your moniker, you should know my answer to your question. Look at how many more people that die needlessly afterwards (all people he was trying not to kill died, more humans from the upper level of the train station died, after sukuna’s final fight more than 90% of humans in that barrier had died, more than 3 members of his school died).

The consequences of his incompetence was real devastating. If Gojo had use his domain expansion from the start, he could have killed all three. The only causalities would only be the human on that floor (given the situation, either way death was their fate). He wouldn’t have gotten sealed, would have had time to save his teams from Dagon and the rest, Sukuna wouldn’t have awakened but Gojo didn’t want to shoulder that responsibility. The aftermath of the Shibuya accident is all on Gojo

Hamas held hostages, did it stop Israel from raining missiles?

War is not a tea party. Itadori understood this well in Episode 21.

If you want to be good, be good all the way; if you want to be bad, be bad all way. Even the biblical God hates indecisiveness, faithlessness and half measures:

A - “Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord“

B - “Since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth”.

Being made in His image; I like to see anime characters that are evil all the way. Evil that makes other characters be overcome by awe and great fear, which almost immediately turns to reverence.

The Gaza conflict …..

You beat me to it. Though I was going to compare it to Gojo fight against Mahito, Hanami & Choso. Hamas has taken hostages, does that stop Israel from raining missiles on Gaza: of cause not. Israelis would be fools to hesitate or show weakness.

Again Gojo’s idealism has no place in the real world (talk less his own more brutal anime world). Paradox of tolerance is real and very unforgiving.
TV/Movies / Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by brainhack(m): 8:00am On Oct 03, 2023
Baddestguyp:
it is a far harder choice than what you're describing...

Would you use your own hand to kill innocent people who did nothing to you just because you're sure you can't save them all?

Let's be real, even in his situation, most people won't do it...
It's one thing to try to save people but fail at it...
It's another thing to use your own hand to kill innocent people

Okay let’s be real. I have mentioned it before in “real life”, in war a perfect condition in which you take out your enemy almost never exist. There are always causalities, innocent bystanders.

Now Imagine 5 of the world’s most wanted terrorists are having a meeting and at the same venue You and 5 of your friends are having a picnic about 50 meters away.

One hellfire missile at a press of a button/trigger, (so it is not “hard”) would quickly change these terrorists’ status from living to dead but it would also take you and your 5 friends out.

Question: do you think the leader of whichever free world taking the lead on this operation won’t push that button? You would be greatly mistaken if you assume he won’t.

If you were the leader in question, even you would push that button because you are aware of the demands of the duty and responsibilities placed on you by your country. If in situations like that you don’t have what it takes to make such judgments call, then you should expect to be replaced soon by someone who can act and also live with the consequences. (If your country fails to replace you for your inability to take action, there is very high probability your country would be a pile of ash in the nearest future).

This is “real”. The real world is not always black and white, there are so many grey areas in which you still must act.

Like in this hypothetical but real situation the cost of your inaction would outweigh the consequences of your action.

*********************************
This conversation just made me dislike Gojo even more lol, he refused to save them accepting they are beyond saving yet he didn’t want to use a technique could kill the enemy cuz he didn’t want to kill the humans himself in turn endangering the whole world. Smh. Such a fallible thought process. Smh.
TV/Movies / Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by brainhack(m): 5:05pm On Oct 02, 2023
Baddestguyp:
Gojo doesn't really have a high moral compass imo...

He is ready to accept the death of many humans if he sees it as inevitable...as shown in that battle..

If this is true then it just shows that he didn’t analyze the situation thoroughly. Cuz now that he has been sealed, these humans are sitting ducks, Fake Geto can kill them with a flick of his finger.

It’s a lose-lose situation. He carried the two Ls. He didn’t eliminate the threat and he didn’t save the humans. You don’t want to see clips of American military carrying out operations and the cost (civilian lives) that comes with it. This is the real world.

Their death was inevitable from the beginning, he should have done the needful. Now the fate of the world hanging in balance (evil has the upper hand right now).

If anybody’s ideal can be said to be most flawed, I would say its Gojo’s ideal. I secretly hope he dies for it lol, now or in the future. (Spoiler Alert: Gojo d*** in the manga)
TV/Movies / Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by brainhack(m): 4:52pm On Oct 02, 2023
Baddestguyp:
while I agree that Geto's ideals were not nonsense, they did pose some flaws...

The fact that regular humans didn't know about the existence of curses...

You can't really blame regular humans for everything when they do not even know they cause the birth and existence of curses...

There is also the fact of punishing Innocents e.g kids and babies who have absolutely nothing to do with what is going on in the Jujutsu world

Humans kill baby animals too. We kill things that don’t know we exist. Well I do get your perspective.

That is one thing about ethics & ideals. There is no universally correct answer. Right now I don’t bother about ethics (right or wrong), I only bother about legality (as regard the laws I hold myself accountable to - Nigeria & Heaven).

With my legality there is no or very limited grey area. What you refer to as evil might be well within my rights. I guess this brings us to the issue of extremism lol. Well like I mentioned earlier is no universally correct answer to ethics.

It has always seemed to me to be a tool developed to hold others in shackles, even people that developed it backtrack when it no longer suit their purpose. This is state of the real world.

Jujustu Kaisen

I really really hope patchface dies. Like I need his death to be long, excruciating and gratifying to me. I just need him to suffer.

Next episode will be chaotic and the real pandemonium. I can't wait.

Lol Mahito is one my favorite characters, he is so adapt at using his power he reminds me of Hisoka (Hunter x Hunter).

He would definitely be a very hard kill for anybody apart from Gojo.

One thing about some anime is that at some time, you sit back and think of the ideals presented. Sentiments apart Geto’s ideals were not utter nonsense, they were quite grounded.

As humans, we kill cows, goats etc for food, hunt them for pleasure because we are a higher life form. Curses are superior to humans shouldn’t this same ideal hold true. Sorcerer stand tall above curses & humans, why should they be in the shadows and take their place of authority over all?
TV/Movies / Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by brainhack(m): 4:06pm On Oct 02, 2023
I was glad to learn Gojo had the cojones to kill Geto.

But Gojo not wanting to use domain expansions from the start cause he didn’t want to kill the humans present was a mistake:

1) It is obvious that those top tier cursed spirits wouldn’t face him without something sinister and powerful up their sleeve (going up against Gojo is suicidal). If I were Gojo, that was enough reason to kill them fast.
2) Gojo dying would spell doom on the world. Imagine such power imbalance, billions of humans in the world are at risk just cuz he didn’t want a 100 or so to die.
3) For every second wasted in the fight pain taken beatdown, it was obvious more humans could be diverted to the venue.

The optimal solution was use domain expansion from the start, kill Mahito, Hanami & Choso. Well that is what I would have done.

From comments on Reddit, So many people felt the same way too. No doubt Gojo’s moral compass is impressive but at what cost?

What you're thinking is S2 of Kengan is actually part 2 of season 1. Season 2 drops this September.

Jigokuraku has a nice momentum, I didn’t expect to find out the “gods” are killable so soon, though I knew from the beginning they would be 🔥

Netflix is just milking Kengan Ashura. Season 2 is actually a continuation of the tournament.

I doubt if they would even conclude it in season 3 (droping in September 2023)
