As a sign of appreciation to the gesture done to him by impeached Governor Murtala Nyako, prominent political associates of Nyako made the list of appointments made by Governor Bala James Ngilari yesterday in Yola. Governor Murtala Nyako’s political associates had played prominent role in the court case instituted by Ngilari over contention in respect of whether he has sent his resignation letter to Governor Nyako or not which led to the sacking of acting governor, Ahmadu Fintiri. The Nyako’s men who were in the list include Mr. P.P. Elisha who was initially appointed by Nyako as a commissioner but was rejected by the Fintiri led House of Assembly which made Nyako to appoint him a special adviser on Government House Matters. Elisha is now the director of press to Governor Bala Ngilari. Another Nyako’s political associate who made the list is Hon. Abdul Rahman Bobboi who was also an adviser to Nyako but was brought by Ngilari as chief of protocol. In a press release signed by the chief of staff to Governor Ngilari, Chubado Babbi Tijjani, Ngilari appointed Ibrahim Andrew Welye as the secretary to the state government. Others are Prof. George Moses who is the Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Ujulu Amos Personal Physician to the Governor, Usman Hamidu Maiha, Auditor General (LGS), Ibrahim Iya Gurin, Ag State Auditor General, Usman Bukar, Coordinator Millenium Development Goals (MDG’s), Dauda Bello Furo, Executive Chairman State Universal Education Board, Ambrose Abasu PA to the Governor and Maxwell Dukku as Press Secretary. |
The fear of Walcot is the beginning of Football! Mourinho: I heard that Walcot is back? John Terry: Yes o! That's what I heard too, but why the question coach? Mourinho: Nothing much; just that am really afraid of that guy. John Terry: We've played them and we've collected 3pts from them. Mourinho: O yes! Arsenal will never loss or draw any match again!! John Terry: That's a big problem coach! Van Gaal: Giggs, who's this Walcot that's everywhere, is he the owner of EPL? Giggs: Hey! Coach, Walcot isn't God or owner of EPL but Arsenal player who's returning from injury. Van Gaal: And why is everyone afraid? Giggs: That guy is too much, he's Arsenal CR7, in fact every coach fears him so much. Van Gaal: That means we are in big trouble! Giggs: That's just it, but why did he return now? Van Gaal: if u ask me who'll I ask? Pellegrini: This Walcot again, thank God we've played Arsenal! Kompany: That guy can disturb, in fact he plays like CR7. Pelegrini: let's pray he'll not be there in the 2nd leg tie. Kompany: I hope so coach. Roggers: Why would Walcot come back now? This surely a wrong timing for us. Gerard: Coach, it baffles me a lot . You know we don't have Suarez anymore. Roggers: That's why am disturbed, I was even thinking that we would play Arsenal before their CR7 comes back. Gerard: let's just pray they he'll get injured again or we'll collect enough from them! |
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, on Thursday explained the idea behind his administration’s initiative, “Horn Free Day” coming up on October 15, 2014, describing it as a step towards sensitizing residents to the harmful effects of noise pollution. Speaking at the State’s first “Lagos Drivers’ Appreciation Day” held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry House, Alausa, Ikeja, Governor Fashola said that the Horn Free Day was an initiative of his administration to persuade citizens that there is a better way to live than indulging in noise pollution which has been found to be harmful to their health. Re-enforcing the remarks of the Guest Lecturer who put the harmful noise level at 70 decibels and above, the Governor said that there was need to bring this figure down significantly because according to the global standard for measuring noise, “90 decibels is rather too high and harmful to human health”. “It is for our own good, it is for our own health, it is for our own life. It is not because Governor Fashola said so. It is not because Lagos State Government said so. It is simply because it is good for us. Doctors have told us it is for our own ultimate good”, the Governor said. According to him, “What we see in a way that we now choose to live is that because we live in a very noisy environment, which we can really diminish, we tend to be very noisy ourselves. We speak at the top of our voices, we play music at very high decibels and we do very many things at very high levels”. The Governor pointed out that the campaign against noise pollution was a response to the petitions and complaints of “citizens and tax payers who, on daily basis, write and petition us that somebody is preventing them from sleep either from the noise they are making or from other uncharitable activities they are carrying on without regard for the well being of their neighbours.” He further recalled, “Occasionally, when you hear a siren you know something has gone wrong in that system; you know that either an ambulance is on its way to an emergency or firemen are on their way to a fire or policemen are tracking and chasing criminals; and I said then that why should we be different, are we not Nigerians?” Saying that such a change should start from Lagos, Governor Fashola expressed joy that the Ministry of Transportation and all its affiliated agencies, the Drivers’ Institutes, the Transport and the Law Enforcement Institutes, have all taken the Horn Free Day challenge up to the level of implementation. He declared, “We are gathered here today to sensitize ourselves in preparation for the day we have chosen as a Horn Free Day; the No-Noise day or whatever you chose to call it, but let us just bring down the noise in our society. On that day we will not be gathering like this. Each one of us and all of us will be consciously doing something to start this very exciting journey in order to reduce noise in our society”. The Governor charged the audience, “I want you to remember as we leave here today that starting from the 15th of October, whether we reduce noise or not starts from you and I. If you and I make the commitment to do something positive in order to reduce noise, clearly you and I will benefit”.

Boko Haram can not really thrive without inside help, hence the military need to be more vigilant. I heard they have arrested several soldiers, who were discovered to have leaked vital security information on the troops’ strategies and tactics to Boko Haram that led to a series of ambush and killing of over 30 Nigerian soldiers by the rag-tag terrorists in recent times. Sources say ,most of the arrested soldiers serve as orderlies or ADCs to Commanders of Troops on the field. Can you imagine that? “The situation became so bad that there was mutual suspicion among fellow commanders, the Brigade headquarters and even the Division headquarters. But at last, the moles were found out to be some of the orderlies and aides of Commanders. What they do is that after operational briefings and troops take off, these moles immediately pass on the information through calls.” According to Vanguard, the alleged moles among the soldiers leaked the information on the deployment of soldiers from Maimalari Barracks in April this year to the terrorists which led to an ambush and killing of so many soldiers of the 101 Battalion that consequently led to soldiers’ mutiny and the shooting at the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Major General Ahmed Mohammed. His armoured official car saved his life. It further gathered that the activities of these moles may have been responsible for the recent shooting of the Nigerian Airforce Alpha Jet on September 12 which took off from Yola airport and was reported missing until Boko Haram terrorists said they shot it down and killed one of its pilot, which was confirmed by the Facebook account of friends of the military. Speaking under condition of anonymity, a reliable source said Commanders on the field had for long wondered how information on strategies for deployment, type of weaponry and fall back tactics easily filtered out to the terrorists to the extent that soldiers’ movement, timing of deployment, and routes to take, became known to Boko Haram insurgents. Asked why it was difficult to discover the traitors before now, the source said, “Who will suspect that an orderly or the ADC of a Commander will be the one giving out information. He does everything for the Commander and he is with him all the time. He is the last person that would be suspected. But thank God, they have been exposed; the truth is now known”. Already, the source noted that a Board of Inquiry (BOI) has been set up to carry out further investigations into the activities of the traitors and to try to find out if there were fellow fifth columnists still existing among the troops, after which a General Court Martial will be constituted to try the soldiers for Criminal Conspiracy among others. Also, Vanguard was told at the weekend that six officers taking part in the offensive to flush out the terrorists from the Adamawa axis recently shot themselves in parts of their bodies that were not life threatening with a view to escape being drafted to the battle field to confront Boko Haram terrorists. After allegedly shooting themselves in the arm, hip, foot and making sure that the bullets did not affect any bones in these parts of their bodies, the officers ran to a military hospital and claimed that they were shot by terrorists. Medical experts attached to the hospital in Vintim, after carrying out several checks and x-rays on the gunshot wounds, discovered that the officers had ‘clean gunshot wounds’ which meant the injuries were 99% self inflicted. Vanguard gathered that the Army High Command ordered that further medical tests be carried out to be doubly sure and that the x-rays were sent to Abuja where experts did further analysis and came out with the same results of ‘Clean Gunshot Wounds’. |
