Griffon: With contracts having come to an end, we today say farewell to three players who were part of the squad during last season - Falcao, Pato and Marco Amelia.
Falcao joined the Blues on a season-long loan from Monaco last July and made his first appearance in a Chelsea shirt during our summer tour of the USA, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in Charlotte. He was one of six Chelsea players to convert a penalty in the subsequent shoot-out.
The Colombian striker’s competitive debut came on the opening day of the season when Swansea visited Stamford Bridge, and he scored with a diving header in the following home game against Crystal Palace.
However, after featuring against Liverpool on 31 October, Falcao was not involved again until April due to injury. His return game, away at Swansea, would prove to be his last for the club.
Pato arrived on loan from Corinthians in January when our striker resources were stretched. The Brazilian netted a debut goal, scoring from the penalty spot in a 4-0 win at Aston Villa in April, and made his one start for the Blues a week later at Swansea. Amelia was brought in to provide goalkeeper cover after Thibaut Courtois underwent knee surgery.
The former Italy international signed as a free agent last October but although he was named as a substitute during the campaign, he was not called into action on the pitch.
Chelsea Football Club thanks the players for their contributions and wishes them success in the future.

Sports › Chelsea Agree Deal For Belgian Forward Michy Batshuayi by Brestar(op): 6:47am On Jun 29, 2016 |

Chelsea have acted with ruthless efficiency to secure the Belgium forward, Michy Batshuayi, from Marseille in a deal worth an initial €40m (£33.2m) as they seek to kickstart a busy summer of squad strengthening at Stamford Bridge.
Batshuayi, who scored in his country’s 4-0 win over Hungary at Euro 2016 on Sunday, had been the subject of bids from West Ham and Juventus earlier this summer before Crystal Palace had a €38m (£31.6m) offer accepted by the Marseille president, Vincent Labrune, on Monday. However, the player always had reservations about moving to Selhurst Park and, while Chelsea cannot offer European football next season, their late and surprise entry into the auction effectively turned his head.
The 22-year-old is expected to be granted special dispensation to leave the Belgium squad, preparing for Friday’s quarter-final against Wales in Lille, and undertake a medical day before signing a five-year contract with Chelsea. He will become Antonio Conte’s first signing for the club and, while his arrival eases the pressure to add further to the front-line, there remains the possibility the London club could maintain their pursuit of Spain’s Álvaro Morata, now back at Real Madrid, as they seek to bolster their options. Morata would cost in the region of £40m, but any interest in re-signing Romelu Lukaku appears to have petered out.
Batshuayi scored 17 goals in Ligue 1 last season and will become the most expensive sale in Marseille’s history, eclipsing the fee they raised when selling Didier Drogba to Chelsea in 2004, though the player’s former club, Standard Liege, are due 35% of the fee through a previous clause. He departs the Stade Vélodrome having scored 33 goals in 78 appearances for the club. |

xynerise: Belgium is the least contender in this tournament. Don't be convinced with their victory against Hungary. Portugal just wasn't organised.
I even see Poland getting to the Semi-Final. The Final will be Germany vs Italy. Least Contender? With an Inform Hazard and the team finally Rediscovering their Mojo? come on! On their day, they are world beaters anytime! |

xynerise: Germans are defence breaker as well. Beating stubborn Slovakia 3-0 is worth the hype Well, Unlike the Slovakians, Italy don't just defend, they attack and defend in a very coordinated and organized manner! you wont compare Barzagli, Bonucci and Chellini to the Slovakian back line. like Xavi said, they are a hybrid of Barca and Atletico! Attack on 3-3-4 defend on 5-3-2. The Germans have a leaky defense and fowards who find it hard converting chances [prior to the last game ].. With a Conte masterclass anyone who dont think Italy can't defeat the Germans should have a rethink. |

Mickael2: Exactly, and this team will concede a lot without retaining possession. Who in this world plays a 4-2-3-1 without any defensive midfielder? You are playing two box to box midfielders meaning that just like Rakitic for barca for example they will both push into the opponents box, who will be defending then? And please don't tell me that Onazi can play as a true DMF, his tackles are rash and late, he pressures the opponent no doubt but with him there means we will see a red card.
Then the scoring part, when was the last time you saw Nacho playing as a midfielder? You either play Nacho as the striker or play him as the SS, he is not an AMF! Your players were pretty much okay, but the formation does not suit them. My humble opinion? Ok.
The Goalkeeper and defence line will just be like you said, although I would want Alampasu to be our Casillas, you know, start playing now that he is still very young. The defence is superb although I might replace the LB with Madu, but that's just me though.
Then the midfield has to change completely. I saw with you did there when you excluded Mikel, which isn't so bad actually. But with a 4-1-3-2 which is what I intend to apply, Mikel has to start, or some other true defensive midfielder, we don't need a box to box midfielder here, we need Busquet or someone like that, Mikel can do that, i believe Ndidi can too so I will go for Ndidi. Then the 3 on top would be easy, Moses Simon and Victor Moses easily the wingers (but Victor Moses isn't always available so just put in Musa there), then the front two will be either Ighalo as the main striker and Iheanacho as the support striker or better still, Iheanacho as the main striker and Musa as the support! Iheanacho is the deadliest striker in Europe, why should we play him as a midfielder then?! Iheanacho hardly puts pressure on teams so Musa's workrate will compensate for that, not to mention his pace and trickery. This formation provides versatility, we can play a direct style of football with Moses and Simon pushing up, we can retain possession with Mikel/Ndidi and Iwobi( yes Iwobi, he is an arsenal academy graduate, holding the ball is what he does best.) we can couter attack, with Moses, Simon and Musa, couter attacks would be the norm. We can play through the wings and use our crosses(but i hate that one sha, we don't have the height and presensce so to say). And this teams has goals, from the wingers, through the Attacking midfielder to the main striker, all of them can score a shitload of goals(except Musa sha, that Aboki I no understand am) so yes, we need to play to our players strength not just playing any formation we like Get used to it bro. Onazi our DMF, Mikel plays a more attacking CM position when both of em are starting. |
