sola0004: Hello Guys,
I have been a silent member here since last year.
I submitted my application on the 6th of November, got a notification for biometrics the following day and i did immediately.
Documents Submitted.
>>Normal CIC documents >>My CV >>Statement of Purpose >>Transcript >>Employment Letter >>Copy of My international Passport >>Letter of sponsorship from my father, closing balance of 1.3m tbills investment of about 24mill
I got a call for medicals on The 2nd of January 2018, i did medicals on 3rd of January, i saw the notification that i passed medicals on the 5th of January, few minutes later, i got another notification that my request has been approved that i should send my original passport. immediately i went to the VFS office at lekki to send my passport.
School is lambton college PGD.
This application was just God because i didnt add the required docs that is normally preached here. I didnt submit police report, i didnt submit my birth certificate. i just submitted the things they requested on the application page.
I am a first time applicant and God did it, God will do yours too, just be sincere and let God handle the rest.
Please anyone resuming Lambton in September should be inbox me or anyone that is there, i need help on how ti prepare. email: gbadamosihope@gmail.com. Congrats bro! Seems police report is no longer required as the space to upload it online is no longer available. I believe in online applications as you would know what’s required and not add irrelevant documents. I strongly recommend people applying through paper route to create a profile online to know the required documents. Too much documents may increase processing time and it might depict desperation. Congrats once again. |

Sleemzy13: Hello house, Pls advice me on this My Dad asked me not to include my Step Siblings in the Family form that i should jst put, N/A, as in i am the only Child. Though the truth is, My parents are divorced and my Dad is a UK base living with my step mother and 3kids. So i was thinking, wouldn't this people (VOs) later find out about the truth? Coz you know, i will surly upload his Int'l Passport's data page, And i am thinking they might use the info on it to run a background check on him. He said, i should not include my steps siblings coz, it might leads to too much questions like it happened 13-15 years ago on the UK Visa he tried to get 4 me but couldn't and he wasn't even sure if it was a denial or not.
And again, on the Visa denial section on my Visa application, should i say yes that i have been denied Uk Visa before or No cause, like i mentioned above that Dad said is was 13-15yrs ago (during my JSS level) and wasn't sure if it was a denial of not but wasn't given then cause they required more info and he said he thinks, they may not hold the record for that long. So pls guys, what's your opinion on this? I don’t think they will run a background check on your dad’s profile. People have applied without their parent’s ID and still got approved. On the visa denial section, I think you should mention that you were denied because if the embassy request for more info within a set time-frame and you don’t meet up with the deadline, they will reject your application. |

kylexy61: I am also an applicant to University of Toronto Civil Engineering department. They stated on their website that students do not need to contact a potential supervisor. I still went ahead to contact some of them and one replied that he will talk with me in January, after I have submitted my application.
All admitted students are guaranteed full tuition waiver + CAD$16,000 minimum annual stipend. I pray we all get in. It’s a great school and their funding is massive. |

Lemia: Also did the professor agree to fund you? He humbly requested me to go ahead and apply. I am praying he doesn’t change his mind, because those profs can be funny atimes. All individuals offered admission into MASc. and Phd. programs of Electrical and Computer at UofT automatically receive a funding package worth at least 40,709 CAD per year as supervisors are encouraged to pay more than that minimum. I think other departments at UofT have similar packages too. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Bright9412: 10:51am On Jan 01, 2018 |
Lemia: Hi,
Schools like University of Toronto are extremely competitive so you definitely have to secure a supervisor first before you apply and pay application fees. It's almost certain you won't be admitted for a research based program if you don't get a supervisor. Unless you probably have a perfect GPA, amazing letter of intent and awesome letters of recommendation and even at that, it's not certain.
Also I must say that some departments don't require you to get a supervisor first so you have to find out what the requirements for your department are.
Getting a supervisor is a very difficult task when you're looking to get funding from the professors but if you're funding yourself or you have an external scholarship, it's way easier. You just have to state it in the email.
All the best man. See you in Toronto soon enough. I am also an applicant to University of Toronto ECE Department. I secured a potential supervisor. What’s your course? |

minaty: @Lemia pls can i ask if you have paid for the application fee at University of Toronto yet? I want to know if I am supposed to find a supervisor first before the application fee It depends on the program you are applying to. Read the admission requirements to know if you are required to secure a supervisor or not before application. |

Josh1996: Good evening Bosses, Is it still necessary to contact potential supervisors of a school despite the school stating it's not necessary as (supervisor distribution is managed during the review process ) It’s good to secure a potential supervisor by contacting them. It increases your chances of admission but doesn’t guarantee your admission. During review process if the supervisor finds a better candidate he might not recommend you for admission. There was a time I secured a potential supervisor. After the review process, he contacted me that he would take only one student and it’s one of the PhD applicants. Tho I got admitted but it was converted from MASc to MEng on recommendation of one of the associate deans. |

I want fun funding but am scared they might not give admission for full funding especially with a CGPA of 4.4/5.0 I need your suggestions pls Thanks Be optimistic. Your CGPA is fine. Just support it with a strong SOP to stand out from the remaining candidates, even those with higher CGPA. Good luck. |
