Phones / #superstrength What Happens When You Hit Your Lumia Phone With A Hammer by BrosMayowa(m): 11:41am On Dec 20, 2015
Lumia devices bearing the Nokia and Windows logo are really, really durable and can withstand very severe hits, and the plethora of tests that people across the world performed are living proof in this regard.

We've seen Lumia phones being thrown out of the bus, put in the oven, or simply smashed to the floor, but in most of these cases, these devices actually survived and they did it with style. Watch what happens when it's hit with an hammer.

Business / Top Reasons You Shouldn't Use Ebanking by BrosMayowa(m): 5:39pm On Dec 17, 2015
Counter-thread to https://www.nairaland.com/2807571/5-reasons-why-should-use..
Just for the fun of it.

Security Risks

Most banks make sure that their websites are secure, but no bank website is immune from cyber crime and hacking. Hackers target bank websites to swipe account information. Not only can identity theft put you out of hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of naira, but it can take time to correct the damage, and it's estimated that only 25 percent of cyber crimes are resolved. So even though your bank may claim that its site is secure, you should always proceed with caution, especially if you're banking from your mobile phone.

ATM

One disadvantage of Internet banking relates to withdrawing money. While most businesses accept debit and credit cards, people still like to have cash on them too. Hence, you can't withdraw cash over the Internet so you still have to visit your bank's physical location, or eat service fees by withdrawing money at an ATM that's not associated with your bank. This becomes even more challenging if you belong to an online-only bank, as you may be forced to withdraw cash through snail mail or paying ATM fees at every withdrawal.

Deposit Limitations

It's likely that your paycheck is directly deposited into your bank account, saving you a trip to the bank. But there are still times when you'll have to make a deposit to your account. Although many banks have released mobile apps that allow you to scan a photo of your check for automatic deposit, this feature is beneficial only for people who own smart phones. Those who don't must visit their bank's physical location to deposit money or send the deposit in via snail mail through online-only banks.

Customer Service

Although online banks have implemented chatting features and offer customer service numbers for those with questions and inquiries, it still doesn't compare to the customer service you'll receive by banking at a physical bank location. For instance, if you are onsite, you can meet with employees and receive information on important topics such as financing, credit card rates and types of loans all in addition to standard banking.

Stolen Cards

When a credit card is lost or stolen, it may be used for illegal purchases until the holder notifies the issuing bank and the bank puts a block on the account. Most banks have free 24-hour telephone numbers to encourage prompt reporting. Still, it is possible for a thief to make unauthorized purchases on a card before the card is cancelled. Without other security measures, a thief could potentially purchase thousands of dollars in merchandise or services before the cardholder or the card issuer realizes that the card has been compromised.

Computers / Technology And End Time; Any Coorelation? by BrosMayowa(m): 9:11am On Dec 03, 2015
The way people attribute advanced knowledge and disciplines to the Devil nowadays is baffling. Someone beside me just asserted that aircrafts are able to levitate through witchcraft and diabolical powers (even when there are astute laws of physics explaining how it levitates).

Another said mobile phones transmit signals through diabolical powers.. Even this issue of BVN is being attributed to signs of the 'End Time'.

Isn't it barbaric to think that mobile phones are truly powered by witchcraft when we're all aware that the engineering and knowledge behind it can be taught, learned and developed?

Does it mean that studying, acquiring some knowledge and using it to alleviate the problems of mankind implies that I'm carrying out the signs of the 'End Time'?

If Yes, then that means that we can attribute the knowledge behind computers, television, biometric cyber-security, aircrafts, smartphones, search engines, sound mixers used in churches and anaesthetics administered by doctors etc. to the knowledge acquired from the Devil abi?

So, we should stop using them because they're 'devilish' abi? These knowledge and ideas couldn't have come from God; the Creator of the universe and mankind himself abi?

4YM you've killed it!

Well, if you're applying for a consulting firm, then you find out 1+1 is not 2 or even 1 cos you have to walk them through your thinking process.

Also, 1+1>2 according to synergy

Like i said earlier, it's not as easy as it seems.

Like my firm says, there're no silly questions :p

Interesting theory.. 1+1 can be 3 in terms of mergers and acqusitions.

i'm kinda lost. Do these companies recruit engineers too? Civil engineers to b precise.
Truth is I've no idea what the big 4 is

What I do know is they recruit university graduates with a minimum of 2.1 in any discipline even if it's Yoruba. Yes, I know that for a fact. You just have to pass their aptitude test and some other 'practical test' as well and they'll handle the rest.
But of course, you must have interest in one of their specialties.. For a civil engineer, maybe their IT section will interest you.. It depends on you as majorly.

Who told you that Nigerian celebs don't undergo plastic surgery? You think they will broadcast it of they did?

What irritates me about your post is how you make it look as if it's only women that gains weight in marriage. The men's own is even worse. I was going through one of my friend's Facebook page, she's been married for seven years with two lovely boys yet she still maintains her nice figure. Her husband on the other hand has almost trippled in size you'd think he was the one that had the babies and is expecting another. Same thing goes for my hubby, he has gained almost 15kg since we married five years ago and I've not gained more than 7 kg. He has changed wardrobe more than three times since we married and his some of his new set of cloths are also starting to cling. And FYI not all women gain weight after babies, me and my sisters and some of my friends got our pre-baby figures back.

If women can get back in shape after babies, men that grow big have no excuse. They're just plain lazy.

You seem to have forgotten or ignored the part that your 'genes' played.. You didn't 'actively work' for your genes. Did you? So don't feed that idea of you and your sisters returning to whatever physique.. Thank Your genes instead.
Moreover, FYI too, there are more obese women than men..

Education / Sorry Ladies; Science Says That Men Are Smarter Than You by BrosMayowa(m): 8:12pm On Sep 21, 2015
I keep pondering over this issue most times as I have always found intelligent girls very attractive. Now going by the traditional definition of intelligence and smarts which is made up of a range of cognitive abilities that include reasoning, problem-solving, spatial ability, general knowledge and memory, it's unfortunate to inform our e-feminists angry all over the world that men are smarter.

While I'll try not to be sexist in my post as (you will soon discover) I can only come to conclusion than men are just on average smarter than women. It's just a debate most learned people have come to agree to. Discussed below are the premises I have based my conclusion;

1. Men do better on standardized tests
At the near-genius level (an IQ of 145), brilliant men have consistently outnumber brilliant women by 8 to one ever since Alfred Binet designed the first IQ Test. That's statistics, not sexism. This only explains why, in almost 110 years of Nobel Prize history, only two women have ever won the Prize for physics and only four have won the Prize for chemistry. Now can someone explain why no women at all have ever won the coveted Fields Medal for mathematics in over eight decades of trying undecided

2. Top Positions are dominated by men
Women account for only 5% of the top executives at the Fortune 500 companies. When even career-driven women get close to the top, they are simply out-numbered by highly intelligent and often ruthlessly ambitious men.

Why? One might ask. An answer lies in the evolutionary demands of nature back in the days of hunting and gathering. As the hunter part of a hunter-gatherer society, men were faced with complex, life-threatening problems that needed solutions on a daily basis. For example, how to kill that elusive deer? The hunters that used all their mental capabilities to come up with the answers, successfully killing animals day after day, were clearly the most intelligent.

3. Men engage in lots of mentally stimulating tasks
This particular one I'm about to discuss is pretty obvious - there are more male musical instrumentalists than females (and even chess players). Playing music, (as nearly all neuro-physiologist have agreed to) is the only activity that uses nearly the whole of the human brain.
Playing music has been found to increase the volume and activity in the brain’s corpus callosum — the bridge between the two hemispheres — allowing messages to get across the brain faster and through more diverse routes. This may allow instrumentalists (usually men) to solve problems more effectively and creatively, in both academic and social settings. The truth is that men today still have physically bigger brains than women, even after adjustments for their different-body size and stature. Also, 80% of the world's genius in history have played at least one musical instrument. Albert Einstein for instance, played the violin.

4. Men are more motivated to succeed at all times.
Thanks to the men's hormonal system oozing the brain with lots of testosterone, men are more motivated to succeed. Listen ladies, for a man - at least as far as his hormone system is concerned - succeeding, competing and beating his rivals is very much still a matter of life and death. Yes, I mean that.
The result is that ambitious, high-achieving men typically work harder, compete more aggressively and become totally immersed in their careers, while even the most high-achieving women will often admit to finding themselves distracted by their genetically preconditioned aptitude for nurture, support and ultimately their priority in care giving (child rearing). See #2 again. cry

5. There are more male professors
Now this one may be rather too weak a point; but look around your university. How many female professors do you see? Do the math and determine the average.
The bottom line is that men will always outnumber women in certain disciplines and vice versa (say engineering and theatre arts for instance).
This doesn't mean we don't have individually intellectual women around, we just have to come to the terms that there will be few of them and the world we live in makes women winning Field Medals a very, very unlikely event.
By all means we need to educate our girls and encourage them to be at their peak; I personally would love to be addressed as the 'First Gentleman of Nigeria'. grin

P.S: My arguments are not based on crude chauvinism (as some people may disagree to), but a good understanding of statistics, law of averages, basic research and deductive reasoning.
