This sounds pretty familiar. As far as I recall HP created an advisory about a batch of laptops that were identified to have been manufactured with some power related defects. The full advisory is still available here :-

And here the symptoms relevant to the dv 6000 series :-

The following symptoms apply to the dv6000, dv9000 and v6000 series notebooks:

*
The notebook does not detect wireless networks and the wireless adapter is not detected in the Device Manager.
*
There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor.
*
The notebook has no power and no active LEDs.
*
The notebook does not start.
*
The battery charge indicator light does not turn on when the battery is installed and the AC adapter is connected.
*
The notebook issues a single beep during boot indicating no power.
*
The external monitor functions but there is no image on the notebook LCD panel.

HPs remedy AFAIK is a 2 year extension to affected notebooks.

I would suggest that you read the limited warranty service enhancement advisory very carefully and then determine based on the symptoms you are experiencing and your laptop serial number if your laptop is elibigle for the 24 month extended warranty.

If your laptop is eligible and I think based on the description of your problem that it might be, then you may be in a position to claim the extended warranty.

I dont have that precise spec on hand.

The one that I have which is pretty close is #32 in my last post.

The differences from your spec are :-

1. It has a 6-cell high capacity battery
while you require the 8-cell high capacity battery
2. it has a 250GB 5400 RPM harddrive
while you require the 320GB 7200 RPM harddrive
3. It does not have the Mircosoft office student edition. As with most new laptops this laptop only comes with only the trial version
4. No TV tuner.
5. No blu ray technology or roxio software.

I can do you a quote for your spec of laptop if you are willing to wait 4 weeks to receive it.

Note that item #32, the dv6700t comes with a High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery which provides at least one extra hour of battery time over and above that provided by the regular 6 cell batteries. Anyhow to give you an idea of what the total cost is, basically if you find a specific laptop you want on an applicable web site (e.g. HP online store, etc) , then add approx $250-$275 ( for nigeria shipping and clearing) to whatever the US base cost (i.e. US$ price + US taxes if applicable + US shipping if applicable) of the laptop is here in the US.

Per logistics, It takes anywhere from 10 days (if all ducks line up in a row i.e in a perfect scenario in which every leg of the laptops journey to Nigeria is completed in the shortest possible time) to 1 month to get the laptop from the US to nigeria from the moment you place your order. Realistically I find that it takes approx 3 weeks on the average for stuff to ship and clear to Nigeria once I have received it here in the US. A lot of people find that this time is significantly too long (of course most people are not willing to fork out the significantly higher cash outlay required to get stuff in 3-5 business days if they require it that fast). However for those who are looking for specific items which they cant find on local shelves in Nigeria it perhaps is a viable option to wait to receive it in 3-4 weeks.
