Did you get your laptop yet?.

I am sure you have already been provided very good advice to facilitate buying your laptop. For the benefit of anyone who may in the future read this thread, I wanted to add that I think that after zeroing in on a specific laptop, anyone looking to buy a laptop should always always do some of their own legwork/research to estimate what might be the retail value of any item they intend to purchase. You need this information to ensure you are not paying too high a price.

In your particular case those laptops are european models so I am not familiar with UK prices and sources. But it appears HP UK had one of them (#1) on sale at some point for 899 pounds.

I don't know what the excahnge rate is now to the GBP but 899 pounds converted to =N=206K approx using the current rate from XE.COM (1 GBP = 229.506 NGN ). This is already higher than the sale offer price you received for that laptop. Perhaps they were available at a much lower price earlier on?.

Anyhow, hope this helps someone else looking to buy.

Well, that card has quite an interesting history.

First time I ordered it they sent me a MicroSD instead of a MiniSD . And i didnt find out until it arrived Naija. So I ordered another and this time it was MiniSD alright but not 80X. Boy are there some incompetent suppliers out here. Well once beaten twice shy, I caught it on time and sent it back before shipping to naija. Third time around I was already peeved, and was really anal - asked them to physically verify the part number of the one they planned to ship and also double checked it when I got it. Finally got it right. Good things certainly come to those who wait!. Voila - finally hayprof got his card and was real pleased.

Anyhow lesson learnt. Now I check stuff more thoroughly before shipping (no more trusting the whole barcode/inventory thing to work correctly or other smart Oyibo systems).

Yeah?. Well what I have is a transcend 2GB and it is a MicroSD by the way. I guess you are in search of an SD card - right. I can surely look into getting you a transcend 1GB SD card if you wish.

ready boost provides an alternate means of speeding up applications under windows vista.

it can be achieved either with a flash drive or with an SD card. the problem with using a flash drive is that you have to remove it whenever you pack your laptop. an SD card is thus far more convenient.

the maximum size of readyboost cache is 4gb.

What order of magnitude improvement in startupspeed have you observed in vista and autocad?.

Truth be told, there are a lot of "compatible" or "replacement" batteries that are alleged to work as good as the original OEM batteries which come with your laptop. However a lot of them don't even fit talk less of working as expected,

So If you got a new "OEM" battery that has the same part number as the one that comes with your laptop, then I will expect that to work perfectly well; but if you got anything else i.e. one of those "compatible" or "replacement" or "equivalent" batteries then in an ideal scenario you should verify from independent sources that it actually is known to work with your laptop before you buy.
