The Students Community (COOU) have decided to boycott the visit of the wife of the Governor of Anambra state Mrs Obiano on basis of the aforementioned reasons. 1) For the past 3years Governor OBIANO has been in office, the first lady has never attended any school/students function in/around the school not even our matriculation for once, Never sponsored nor supported the institution. I know the Office of the Wife of the governor started existing after the swearing of the Governor in 2013. 2) Madam first lady has never asked after the welfare of the students even when our school fees was put on hike in 2013 and also in 2015 which lead to a two recorded bloody riots around the institution. A student died in 2013 during the course of the school fees hike riot in 2013, Madam first lady had never even intervened nor interceded on any issues of the harms and challenges of the students especially that of the heavy burden of school fees of Anambra only state university. 3) In other states in Nigeria, first Ladies has sensitization programs, gender equality movements, scholarship scheme and other special projects for the girl child. This is to protect the future of our girls, the future of the state and the entire Nation. Mrs Obiano has never done any of this little things first ladies do with motherly spirit with the power of their office. No new projects for our girls in the hostel, They suffer water challenges over time, not even renovating their toilets and other hostel facilities. Except for the benevolence and love of Our working VC, the girls hostel would have been in total sham. therefore, the entire students of this institution wish to categorically state that *"Mrs obiano cannot come to us 3weeks to gubernatorial election in the state to seek support for her husband reelection"* Its is unacceptable... Madam first Lady you are not welcomed here. Please go and get your votes elsewhere. You have never cared for us as your children.. *In fact we have never seen you b4 sef* *We no know you!* *Who you EPP?* Biko don't come. ..Please share until she do something for the girls.. *Mrs obiano do something for the girls o*

Da Vinci portrait of Jesus expected to sell for $100 million at auction Long thought to be lost, the painting is considered the "Holy Grail of art rediscoveries" he last painting by Leonardo da Vinci in private hands will be sold at auction next month, Christie’s announced. With a pre-sale estimate of $100 million, Da Vinci’s depiction of Jesus, entitled “Salvator Mundi” (Savior of the World) was until recently considered lost or destroyed. “This is truly the Holy Grail of art rediscoveries,” said Alan Wintermute, Christie’s senior specialist for Old Master paintings, told CNBC. The painting was found after its owner, whose family had purchased it at an auction for £45 in 1958, brought it to New York art dealer Robert Simon in 2005. Initially, according to a CNN report, Simon thought the painting might have been the work of Leonardo’s associates or pupils, which alone would have made it a valuable work of art. After removing layers of varnish and paint from the painting, Simon and art conservationist Dianne Dwyer Modestini began to get an inkling that the painting, which depicts Jesus Christ with one hand on a crystal orb, and the other raised in a blessing, was by the great master himself. What tipped them off? First, there were pentimenti , corrections painted over but visible under special lighting, in the way Christ’s fingers are positioned and the draping of his stole. Da Vinci often reworked details of his paintings as he experimented with how to depict figures in space. And second, Jesus’ curls. “I was looking at the curls and St. John the Baptist at the Louvre, who has this huge head of massive ringlets and they are exactly the same,” Modestini told CNN. When Oxford art historian Martin Kemp was brought in to help authenticate the painting he told ARTIFINO that he knew right away the painting was a Leonardo. “It was quite clear. It had that kind of presence that Leonardos have. The ‘Mona Lisa’ has a presence,” he said, The painting, which is one of only 15 oil paintings by Leonardo in existence, was made for Louis XII of France between 1506 and 1513. Its existence was first recorded in the art collection of King Charles I of England in 1649 After Charles was executed and the English monarchy abolished, the painting was sold, and later passed to the Duke of Buckingham, whose son sold it at auction. In 1900, Sir Frederick Cook purchased the painting, which by then had been damaged by overpainting, and Cook’s descendants in turn sold it for a pittance in 1958. After exhibitions at The National Gallery and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the painting was sold to Russian collector Dmitry Rybolovlev in 2013 for $127.5 million, making it the most expensive Leonardo ever purchased. Since then the painting has been the subject of a legal battle between Rybolovlev and his former art advisor who acquired the painting for between $75 million and $80 million. According to a spokesman for Rybolovlev, after buying the painting, the agent then “flipped” it to Rybolovlev, pocketing $47.5 million, reported Artnet. “Now, the forthcoming auction of this work will finally bring to an end a very painful chapter for the Rybolovlev family,” Rybolovlev’s spokesman said.

Nigerian Singer and show promoter Rafioso recently reacted to Timaya’s video where he called out Eedris Abdulkareem. Recall that Abdulkareem called Timaya an ingrate saying that he helped him to become who he is today and he has refused to help other artists. Rafioso, in an interview with Saturday Beats, said Timaya is not telling the truth, as, according to him, Eedris Abdulkareem treated everyone under him with respect. Rafioso who claimed he was Eedris Abdulkareem’s manager at the time when Timaya was serving under him, shared how Eedris Abdulkareem saved Timaya’s life when they went for a show in Ogun state. According to him; “There was a time we went for a show at Ogun State University. I was already asleep in my room during the show but I learnt that Timaya insisted that he wanted to perform last after Eedris was done with his performance. The show promoters were not comfortable with the arrangement because Eedris was his boss. Eedris agreed and when he went on stage, the tempo was very high but when it was Timaya’s turn to perform, they were not feeling him anymore. The people began to insult him and Timaya insulted them back. When he came down from the stage, the cult boys in the school followed him because they wanted to beat him up. The next thing I heard on my door was a loud bang, it was Eedris at my door shouting that I should wake up because the boys wanted to kill Timaya. We went to where Timaya was and brought him to my room where he slept that night. You can ask Timaya or the show promoter, Offshore, he would tell you the truth. Spydaman was at the show among other artistes. The cult boys began to look for Timaya for insulting them but we hid him in our room. Early in the morning, we had to move out. So when I saw what Timaya posted about Eedris, I felt it was like an insult. I don’t know why he called my name and said that I am nowhere to be found. You don’t say that. He should speak for himself and not for me. I am doing very well. I am an artiste and a show promoter; I also have other businesses I am into. I have houses and tenants. I don’t understand why Timaya mentioned my name. I was with Eedris for more than 16 years and he helped me. He showed me love just like he did to everybody.” According to Rafioso, “Eedris can cut his arm and leg just to help someone.” He also added that he was Eedris Abdulkareem’s backup singer before becoming his manager. ”Whenever they gave him money, there was a boutique where he normally bought clothes; he would call the owner of the shop to bring costumes. We would all pick costumes and Eedris would be the one to pay for them. After everything, he would still give us money. Timaya was not based in Lagos at the time, he was in Port-Harcourt and he only came down to Lagos anytime he heard we had a show. Whenever we had a show, we had a stand-by bus that conveyed us to the venue and back home but since Timaya was coming from Port-Harcourt, we could not wait for him so he had to come and meet us at the venue of the event. Eedris treated all of us fine. The problem is that when Timaya came, he did not come to Eedris as a singer but as a dancer. He is a very good dancer. Eedris could be harsh when he wants to advise you so he advised us on how to explore our different talents. As for me, I was into acting before I got in contact with Eedris. I was in Kiddies Vision 101 with Denrele (Edun). When I met Eedris, he advised me that I could sing because I have a good voice. He put me through and he encouraged me.” Continuing, Rafioso said: ”When I watched Timaya’s video and saw that he said Eedris did not treat him right, I did not understand what he meant. When I first joined the crew, I did not get to see Eedris all the time. He was always inside so we had to relate with his manager. He was not someone you could walk up to like that because there was protocol. The compound was very big so whenever we got to his place, we would sit under a tree and we ate whatever we wanted to eat because they would bring food for us. Timaya was not the only one with Eedris, there were so many people with him. I remember Eedris told Timaya then that he should stop singing and try to sing a song about his dialect or where he is from. I sincerely apologise on behalf of Eedris to the likes of Tuface, D’banj, Davido, Mr. Eazi and every other person he insulted except Timaya.” Speaking about Timaya calling Eedris Abdulkareem a “dirty-looking igbo smoker,” Rafioso said, “Ask Timaya if he smokes Indian hemp as well. That should answer your question.”

Stephen Paddock has been named as the shooter responsible for the mass killing in Las Vegas As the terror group’s caliphate continue to crumble in the Middle East desperate jihadis have claimed responsibility for attacks they have not carried out. The ISIS statement read: “The Las Vegas attack was carried out by a soldier of the Islamic State and he carried it out in response to calls to target states of the coalition.” Another statement said: “The Las Vegas attacker converted to Islam a few months ago.” But despite the claim, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said no motive had been found during their initial investigations or had any connection with a militant group. The Stephen Paddock's family said he had no political or religious affiliation. Brother of suspect in Route 91 shooting massacre at Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas, Stephen Paddock, breaks down on TV His brother Eric Paddock said from his home in Orlando, Florida “He was just a guy. Something happened, he snapped or something.” ISIS claimed responsibility for an attack on a casino in the Philippines that killed dozens of people earlier this year. But police later identified the attacker as a heavily indebted Filipino gambling addict, saying it was a botched robbery that was not terrorism-related. The extremist organization has suffered a string of major setbacks in Iraq and Syria, where it has lost much of the territory it once claimed as part of a self-styled Islamic caliphate. But the group remains active in recruiting followers on social media, and has repeatedly called on its supporters to carry out attacks in Western nations.

Las Vegas Shooting Near Mandalay Bay Is Said to Kill at Least 2 A gunman opened fire Sunday night at a concert outside a Las Vegas casino hotel, sending people fleeing as SWAT units searched for the attacker and the police investigated reports of shootings elsewhere in the city. At least two people were killed and 24 others injured, hospital officials said. Reports said that the shooting happened near the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Video posted online showed a musician performing outside the hotel at Route 91 Harvest, a country music festival, interrupted by the sound of automatic gunfire. The music stopped, and concertgoers ducked for cover. “Get down,” one shouted. “Stay down,” screamed another. Several SWAT teams were sent to the hotel, and officers reported being pinned down by gunfire, according to emergency radio traffic. Shortly before midnight the Las Vegas Police Metropolitan Police Department reported that “one suspect is down,” and soon thereafter the police said they did not believe there were any more active gunmen. Confirming that one suspect is down. This is an active investigation. Again, please do not head down to the Strip at this time. Twenty-six people were admitted to the hospital, Danita Cohen, a spokeswoman for University Medical Center, told The Associated Press. Of those, at least two died, 12 were in critical condition, and the rest were being evaluated, she said. In the confusion after the shooting, the police also descended on the Ali Baba Restaurant, about a 10-minute drive from the Mandalay Bay, and they also investigated reports of a shooting at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino. The police reported clearing out the Mandalay Bay’s 29th floor and working their way up to the 32nd floor. A police Twitter post described reports of an “active shooter” near or around the Mandalay Bay Casino One officer reported that civilians were “trying to take patrol cars,” but it was unclear why. Shooting in Las Vegas. Two concertgoers, Robyn and Matt Webb, described hearing round after round of gunfire. “It just kept coming,” Robyn Webb told The Las Vegas Review-Journal. “It was relentless.” They said they saw about 20 people bleeding in the street. “That’s when we knew for sure it was real,” Matt Webb said. The police reported closing off about a mile of Las Vegas Boulevard and asked the public to steer clear of the area. Police radio reports suggested that at least three people were transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center for treatment. The police were told not to bring additional casualties — unless the injuries were life-threatening — to University Medical Center, another nearby hospital, because it was at capacity. McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas said that some flights destined for the airport were diverted because of police activity. The airport is just east of the Mandalay hotel, and after the shooting there were reports of people fleeing the concert by running onto an airport runway. https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/10/02/us/las-vegas-shooting.html

Sergio Aguero car crash: Man City statement on injured star; could be out for two months SERGIO AGUERO has been injured in a car accident after attending a concert in Holland. The Manchester City striker was attending a concert in Amsterdam featuring Colombian singer Maluma last night. But the taxi reportedly taking Aguero to the airport to fly back to Manchester was involved in an accident leaving the Argentinian with suspected broken ribs. And Manchester City have now released a statement on Sergio Aguero, but refused to rule him out of their top-of-the-table clash with Chelsea tomorrow (5.30pm). City said: “Sergio Aguero will be assessed by club doctors today after being involved in a road accident on Thursday. “The City forward was in Holland on his day off and has sustained injuries.“He will return to Manchester this morning and his status will be checked ahead of tomorrow's Premier League clash at Chelsea.Early reports at the scene say Aguero was wearing his seat belt which has limited the damage he suffered, with the car looking a write-off. Pictures have emerged of the alleged incident showing the taxi had careered into a pole. The car looks badly damaged as a result of the crash, while it seems hugely unlikely that Aguero will feature at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
