CareerRe: Doctor Compares His 7-year Salary In Nigeria And 6-month Salary In The UK by btoks: 3:46pm On Oct 19, 2025
Of you averagely doing well in Nigeria, can you find same life I the UK?
Please define averagely doing well in Nigeria. Cos in UK, if you're legal and pay your bills there is a standard of living which means you will have access to running water, uninterrupted power supply, gas supply, security, free primary & secondary schools, free healthcare at point of need, free medication for children, free opticians for children, police, fire service, refuse collection,

How many Nigerians have their kids in private schools?
due the relative good level of education in public schools and being free, people do not need to send their children to private school. Each school is inspected and given a rating. Parents tend avoid the few that are rated inadequate. Some Nigerians do send their kids private school if they can afford this for extra curricular activities and lower teacher to pupil ratio.

How many stay in highbrow area and live in conducive apartments like they did in Nigeria?
Every area has access to basic amenities and you can choose to live in a less or more expensive area. Arguably, these standard areas compete favourably in amenity access with the highbrow areas of Nigeria. The so called highbrow areas of UK are extremely expensive and not necessary to live in to have a good life. There are no absolute ghettos in UK.

How many have work-life balance like they do in Nigeria?
It'll be interesting to see how you've worked out how there is better work life balance in Nigeria?! Last I checked, your working hours are your working hours in UK, there is less traffic and more modes of transport, there are working regulations to ensure people are not effectively slaves. To work longer hours or more jobs is by choice as you're expected to live within your means. They don't play with holidays and breaks in UK. It's obviously a different lifestyle ( you are expected to spend more time with the children and that's just the way it is.) weather is also different, meaning people are not always outside.

You will only appreciate that side of the world when you were never averagely balling in the Nigeria.
How many people are actually balling in Nigeria compared to the entire population as I see a lot of people hustling for a daily bread as well? You might be surprised at the number of those balling in UK as well although this comes across differently. E.g. the number of foreign travels every week just for a weekend break even by students as young as 18.

What you call doing well over there is still poverty and mental stress for some of us.
A few might be at a level in Nigeria where they don't need to work as they have legal residual income (or illicit funds!), the same is the case in UK. However, the majority have to work whether in Nigeria or UK. That is how the economy works. A few cases here and there of people balling in Nigeria or our flamboyant nature of parties and celebrations doesn't defeat this point.

If Nigeria were to become a developed country, you'll find that most will just be working in a system that runs the economy, shikena. It is very easy to view these situations within a very narrow view but facts and figures remain true. I thought I should add my 2 cents

Every country obviously has some level of crime but it's about crime rate, likelihood.
As you are likely aware there is crime data on absolutely every street in the UK, the likelihood of being a crime victim ( never mind violent crime)is much lower in UK than in Nigeria. There is also a higher probability of getting justice in UK.
How many crimes are dealt with in Nigeria to victims' satisfaction or at all?

Most feel there needs to be a shake up of the current system to get tangible improvement.

God never told anyone not to marry or have sex

You can serve God and still have sex in marriage

Both the priests and Rev Sisters are just punishing themselves unnecessarily, The Catholic Church should also abolish that law

Not everything in the Bible should be copied, that Paul never married doesn't mean we should copy such, God never told him to abstain from marriage
You are mistaken in your point. No one is forced to become a nun, priest, monk etc. If you do want to become one, you have to abide by the disciple laid down by the church, it's been like this since early christianity.

Don't mind that fellow. You're absolutely right that she resigned under pressure. Most of them don't follow these things.

I had to go through my YouTube history to post this link of a video I watched days ago of her being pressured to resign in parliament or that the PM should sack her.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUbwB2v1skI?si=kG5455OBIq8QU2lC
She followed the process of referring herself to the PM's independent adviser, adviser found she breached ministerial code, Rayner then resigned.
British politics is very adversarial and the opposition will find any opportunity to put pressure on Government. It's just their way. You sometimes have to fight your corner otherwise they would be resignstions every week.

Ultimately, even though Rayner was deemed to have integrity, she didn't seek the specialist tax advice as recommended and thus underpsid tax. That was just food for the opposition
Foreign AffairsRe: UK's Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner Resigns by btoks: 4:30pm On Sep 05, 2025
Politics is supposed to be real serious business with those leading held to very high standards.
Unfortunately Angela Rayner's position became untenable with not paying the required tax, they couldn't care less about her family circumstances.
Also, the conservative party put so much pressure on her to resign or be sacked as she did the same when she was in opposition. Unfortunately in British politics your poo cannot stink otherwise na pressure to resign.

There are 10 times worse events that occur in our own politics with no consequences.

In the Blue Zones (regions of the world where people live really long and healthy lives, like Okinawa Japan, Ikaria Greece, Sardinia Italy, Nicoya Costa Rica), people walk about 8km on average as part of their daily activities. See quote from researcher Dan Buettner - “Walking five miles a day or more provides the type of low‑intensity exercise that yields all the cardiovascular benefits you might expect, but it also has a positive effect on muscles and bones – without the joint‑pounding damage caused by running marathons or triathlons.”Dan Buettner, The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer From the People Who’ve Lived the Longest

I'm sure you can you can do much more than 2km a day with no problems. We humans are designed to keep moving

RIP Chief Kanran.

Does anyone remember the film called Adun he acted in alongside Alade (RIP)? I think it was released in 1993 or 1994? I've been looking for the movie's soundtrack as there's this particular song in it that I loved a lot back in the day. was played when someone had gone mad walking the street, as I recall.

Doesn't appear to be any detail about the movie online.

F1 is the most expensive sport in the world in terms of logistics.

It's not just about good roads
Certainly up there, logistics would include transporting hundreds of tyres, cars, equipment and feeder races ( F2, F3 etc) equipment within a week. We can't cope with that now and will get into serious debt problems.

I reckon the almost 100billion naira annual hosting fee alone would be better spent trying to electrify Abuja. There are other much cheaper ways to increase tourism. The fact is, tourism and investment will come once we get the basics right in the country.

NOT EVERYTHING CAN BE ACHIEVED BY FIGHTING.

IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIGHT THE NUMBER THREE MAN IN THE COUNTRY. YOU MAY NOT LIKE AKPABIO, BUT THE OFFICE HE OCCUPIES IS A VERY POWERFUL OFFICE. HE CAN SET MODALITIES AND IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT IS ALSO DIFFICULT TO PROVE.
THE PEOPLE OF KOGI CENTRAL CURRENTLY HAVE NO SENATOR. THIS IS NOT GOOD.

I HEREBY NOMINATE HONOURABLE HELINUES TO TAKE OVER AS THE SENATOR FOR KOGI CENTRAL. I AM SURE HE WILL LOOT THE SENATORIAL ZONE DRY.
How do we expect to progress as a country if we constantly adopt a defeatist mindset, especially when it involves powerful individuals? The idea that people should "rest" in the face of injustice is part of the reason impunity reigns supreme.

If she believes she was wronged, she has every right to speak up and pursue justice. We can't keep encouraging silence just because the accused man is the senate president.

And while it may be difficult to prove sexual harassment that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be challenged. The more we speak up, the more we create room for accountability and change. Until we start fighting for our rights, we’ll keep complaining about the same issues till thy kingdon come with no real progress.

Ironically, the gregorian calendar widely used today was established by the catholic church and won't change anytime soon.

How come other countries can manage to stay clean without shutting down economic activity with overzelous uniform men then taking advantage to brutalise people.

What exactly is the duty of the local government of they can't take care of waste disposal, drainage maintenance and environmental cleaning in 2025? And shouldn't people be cleaning their own houses and compounds regularly, anyway! personal responsibility doesn’t need government impositions but education and a working system.

All I remember from environment sanitation Saturdays during the military regime was a whole heap of gutter dirt scooped out and left at the roadside for weeks, surely there are fundamental issues that need to be looked into to improve level of cleanliness.e.g proper waste collection system, public education on hygiene etc.
Until fundamental problems are addressed, no matter how many sanitation saturdays are imposed, we’ll just keep scooping dirt from one gutter to another and blaming each other while the floods rise.

How come other countries globally are able to maintain an acceptable level of public cleanliness without resorting to enforced business shut down and restriction of movement.
Only Rwanda practices something similar to this environmental sanitation although theirs covers more than sanitation exercise.

Dtruthspeaker:
The invalidity of your church is based on its anty-Christian and anti-bible conduct and behaviour.

Every other church recognises, admits and confesses The Truth that it is taking and subscribing to a foreign religion which originated from Isreal.

Whereas your church is trying to steal the same foreign religion and trying to claim it as theirs through stealing Peter and claiming he is yours.

Whereas, Peter is an Isrealite and Catholicism is a Roman institution.

And stealing and not declaring the Truth and not giving honour to whom it is due are all anti Christian and anti bible activities.

Not to talk of your church now raising it's own version of anti biblical activities.

These are the basis of their invalidation.

And no you know you Lie (see you are doing what your church does) in saying a few bad eggs. Whereas you have millions and millions of bad eggs.

And I have given you the opportunity to bring the proper and valid evidence to prove that claim of your church but you do not have it. Which is still the same result I got when I checked for it. Thus, I dismiss it because of its absence of Truth Full and valid evidence.

I have told you severally that this it's hearsay evidence is absolutely not admissible and acceptable
For someone who didn't even know about Eusebius just a few days ago, you sure are making bold and sweeping statements, albeit misguided.
Please do some more research sincerely on the fate of peter and come back to this post in a few weeks/ months( May God give us long live).
About the so called atrocities of some church members this is a strawman argument and doesn't invalidate the good.

While doing some research, have an open mind about what Catholic church actually is and teaches without 21st century lens divorced from Christian history as well as the prejudice you already exhibit, so that you can have stronger arguments even if you don't agree with the church.
You may find you have no valid basis for even believing in the books of the bible talk less of your own misguided sola scriptura interpretations. Shikena

Do you understand that this does not make sense? For Enckakar, Ogboni, Jw, 7th day Adventist do this too?

And this is not to forget that your church committed atrocities which are called crimes against humanity. Is it Jesus Who sent them to those things?

As I said 'by their fruits ye shall know them"!

Anyway, all these are a departure from post and the bottom line is that the Catholic church does not have any valid proof and evidence of their claim. Thank you
cheesy It won't make sense to you because you dismiss church sacred tradition and believe sola scriptura with no context, as though there was not a church already existing.
We all know when these groups you listed started and can't even be brought into the conversation.
Eckankar – 1965
Ogboni – not Christian
Jehovah’s Witnesses – 1870s
Seventh-day Adventist Church – 1863

Why not try going further back to the 1st few decades and start from there. Go to Ignatius of Antioch, Irenaeus, Justin Martyr and others who were taught by the apostles or their immediate successors.

Your argument stlye is what I call 'clutching at straws'. Ok there where some bag eggs amongst the faithful, how does that invalidate the entire church(is it the crusades or the inquisition you're to - there were valid reasons to start those)? I mean, look at the men Jesus himself selected, did Peter not deny him, Judas nko and his betrayal ,did the other disciples not flee when Jesus was taken! Do you think the protestant churches that came after did any better? (so many atrocities carried out)

Your claim that the Catholic church has no valid proof of its claim ignores both scripture and history. You don't have to agree, but dismissing it without engaging the evidence is not the same as refuting it.

As I said, the closest I will get in answering this question is that "by their fruits ye shall know them"!

The bold was not part of what Jesus established.
You can see seeds of what Jesus established here:
Luke 10:16
“He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.”

Matt16:18–19
“You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven...”

Matt 18:17-
“If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.”

Research how the early church functioned. Unfortunately you can't get all the info from sola scriptura because the NT came out within a living church with its structures and tradition already in place.

You are mistaken, Catholic Church and Roman Catholic church are not the same thing. You need to take a cue and study the history of the early church and apostolic track. Most of the early apostles were killed in Rome or by Rome, they have nothing to do with the Roman Catholic church which was remodeling of the Roman part of the Pentarchy when they claimed first among equals. shocked shocked shocked
Penta means five episcopal Sees, as they were five main church centers back then, including Jerusalem, Antioch(Antakya, Turkey), Constantinople(Istanbul, Türkiye) , Alexandria(Egypt) and Rome(Italy). This is why Vatican calls itself the Holy See.

So go and learn your history and thank me later... grin grin
Topic was always going to get derailed! Fyi - the term Roman Catholic was made up by Anglicans after the Reformation. the Church has always referred to itself simply as the Catholic Church which includes over 20 Eastern Catholic Churches in full communion with Rome.

The real historical split was between East and West( the Great Schism) dividing the Latin Church and the Eastern Orthodox Churches.
