In a recent interview that popular comedian, I go save Exclusively had with habanaija.com, he talked at length on so many issues happening in the Nigerian Comedy Industry and on some personal issues as well. Here is the interview: Otas Igo Save whose real name is Otaghware Otas Onodjayeke is one of the biggest names in African comedy, he came into the limelight after performing at Opa Williams night of a thousand laughs in 2000. The Warri born comedian steadily rose to stardom over the years, the moment he launch his comedy show I Go Save back in 2009. Quite unusually for a comedy show, especially in Benin City, I Go Save sold out before the show date. Ever since, I Go Save has become an annual event, firmly established on the Benin City Comedy calendar. The popularity of I Go Save with his audience is just on of the several feathers in his cap. He is very popular with critics too, his witty jokes and spontaneity has won him dozens of awards including Daniel Merit Award for Best Youth Comedian, Pink Awards Nigeria for Comedy of the year, Akwaba Awards Ghana for comedy of the year, Ehiglad Entertainment Recognition, Settlement House honor as youth peace Ambassador, EBS Recognition Awards, RCORN Organisation Awards for humour brain of the year, NDDA as comedian of the year and many more. Otaghware Otas Onodjayeke’s talents is not limited to live stand up comedy alone, he is an actor as well. He has starred in a several Nollywood Comedy Movies including Warri Connection and My House Help. Mr Onodjayeke was kind enough to find time from his busy schedule to grant an interview to Bubemi Ekengbuda of Haba Naija. Otas I go save was Born may 20th 1979 in Warri delta state to the Onodjayeke’s family, OTAS I GO SAVE hails from Ethiope East local government area of Delta State. Attended Aileru primary school and Essi college all in Warri, Delta state and later Federal Polytechnic Auchi where he studied painting and general arts, graduated in 2004 and served his NYSC in Lagos, in 2005. In 2010, his annual I go save unusual got bigger and better. Bubemi: How will you describe your sojourn in the entertainment industry? I Go Save: We just do most of the physical which we always see as the best but i give God who oversees and guide my steps to th right path all the glory, so i would not say i am a sojourner since i have God by my side and i keep working hard daily to upgrade and sustain my brand of comedy, Otas i go save is enjoying the trade of making people as it gives me joy to see others happy. Rita Mae Brown once said ” moral passion without entertainment is propaganda, and entertainment without moral passion is television” so the passion for Otas I go save in doing what he loves keeps him going i go save sleeps, eats, drinks, and thinks comedy, and how to emulate laughter encompasses my thoughts daily since There’s no retirement age in comedy. It is not like music or football and that is why you still find Steve Harvey in the trade. Bubemi: What does it take to be a toast of big comedy shows home and abroad ? I go save: As you grow in a job so your commercial value increases and constant research to be informed, challenging yourself of making non offensive happenstance to emulate laughter and most of all self decline has been the major key. Bubemi: If you take a trip down memory lane, would you say everything is working according to plan ? I go save: Well that is why i don’t stop thanking God, they are working more than i planned. Embracing comedy as a teenager made all plans towards a direction but as you grow in what you do new decisions and goals starts coming in, though there are some plans i am yet to execute because of few set backs but they must be achieved as i have told myself so i see a lot them and even some i never planned for working and some not, “i believe in serendipity. one of the things I have found out about life is that it has a way of surprising you; you don’t know what’s around the corner” Bubemi: What are some of the survival strategies of I go save ? I go save: I pray, because i think that when human strength, ability and intelligence are exhausted, then its the good lord who can do it. i think happiness is a decision and i try not to allow what is happening to me decide the temperature inside me. I wish admin would push this to the front page let my fellow Manchester united fans share their opinion too ![]() |
One thing most Manchester United fans all agree on, is the need for a robust, bossy midfielder, and have been linked with so many big money players who don’t seem to be willing to join the club. However, there are some that may be easy to get that moyes seem to have put as his last resort or may not want to sign. Here are the analysis of 5 top players in Europe that would fit into the Moyes’ Manchester United midfield, perfectly! Midfielder #1 Marouane Fellaini Strong, Tall, Fast, ability to hold the ball and score goals regularly. Marouane Fallaini is a nightmare for even the top defenders of the premier league. He can play both as a playmaker and a striker. David Moyes being the former manager of Everton, it would have been a perfect fit and he could have easily bought Fellaini while his release clause was still active. However now that the release clause has expired it seems United will have to offer good. amount of money if they want to buy the Belgian midfielder. Midfielder #2 Riccardo Montolivo With a very good technical ability, creativity, range of passing and versatility Montolivo can play anywhere in the midfield but his two main roles are deep-lying playmaker and attacking midfielder. Montolivo is also a regular starter for Italy, and is hoping to be part of the squad for the World Cup in Brazil. The current AC Milan captain’s experience along with all his other attributes might just be what’s missing in Manchester United’s midfield. Midfielder #3 İlkay Gündoğan Gündoğan is one of the best midfielder’s in the world at present. Usually a playmaking central midfielder Gündoğan is best known for his passing abilityand technical qualities. Manchester United could look at Gündoğan as a midfield option for buying in this transfer window. Midfielder #4 Yohan Cabaye Cabaye is a box-to-box midfielder who possesses excellent vision and great ball control and provides great technical quality. He is also known for his free-kick and penalty taking abilities. Cabaye also has great work ethic which would make him a suitable midfielder for Manchester United to buy. Midfielder #5 Arturo Vidal Vidal is also a box-to-box midfielder with the ability to assist both in defense and attack. He is a very hard-tackling and tenacious player. The Chilean able to drop deep to either pick up possession, track runners to nullify off-the-ball movement made by the opposition. Along with his defensive attributes Vidal can also score goals too. All in all, Vidal could fit into Manchester United’s midfield very nicely. Source: http://www.habanaija.com/top-5-midfielders-who-would-fit-perfectly-in-to-the-manchester-united-midfield/ |

What if i told you that the UEFA Champions League and Europa League draws were rigged by UEFA? Well you could say being a Nigerian i have blinded by the amount of rigged elections in the past. But let me try to convince you a little. In the past, there were no draws made for the semi-final stages of this competition as the winners of quarter-final 1 would play winner of quarter-final 2 that’s just an example of how it’s been done in the past. This year was different, as there were draws for the semis and no reason was given for this pattern, that’s when i became suspicious. The draws then took a Germany v Spain pattern which again now looks like a coincidence to you, but as we know the UEFA president is a fan of the Spanish language liga, so we then concluded its going to be an el classico final. A friend who has followed football longer than i have told me “if Bayern Munich defeat Barcelona then Borussia Dortmund would defeat Real Madrid” it sounded a little bit strange as i could see the Barcelona defeat but not the Madrid defeat. But so it happened. Let’s look at the score lines: The Bayern v Barcelona was played on 23-4-13 if you add that up you get 40 the game ended 4 – 0. The BVB v Real Madrid was played in 24-4-13 if you add that up you get 41 the game ended 4 -1. Does lightning strike twice in the same place?? You might ask why? Here are the ratings of how our new look eagles performed against a full strength Venezuela side 8 – Austin Ejide Nigeria’s man of the match as he pulled off several big saves particularly in the first half which Venezuela dominated. He was commanding between the sticks and should now press Vincent Enyeama for the Eagles No.1 shirt. 7.5 – Solomon Kwambe The 19-year-old right back capped his debut with a great display especially going forward. He provided the assist for the first goal with a superb ball across the face of the post for Ideye to finish off. 7 – Elderson Echiejile He was commanding at left back again and often covered for the fumbling centre halves. He knew when to join the attack and was a real stumbling block to striker Solomon Rondon as he cut him off time and time again. 4 – Godfrey Oboabona He struggled and was shaky. He generally lacked composure and gave away balls in the vital area one of which led to the Venezuela goal. 4.5 – Azubuike Egwuekwe The giant central defender was sluggish and not commanding as he could not form any meaningful combination with Oboabona in the heart of the back four. He lost his man several times and his passing was terrible. He did not make a strong case for him to be included on the squad to the AFCON. 7.5 – Nosa Igiebor The Real Betis playmaker had a brilliant game in the midfield. He was an ever-present in the middle dictating the pace and spraying razor sharp passes. He started the move for the first goal and his superb 40-yard volley for second goal was superb. 4 – Henry Uche Started well and was combining well with Igiebor and Onazi before he was substituted in the 33rd minute due to injury. He didn’t have much time on the pitch to really show what he is capable of but he showed great tactical awareness. 7 – Ogenyi Onazi The SS Lazio midfielder was one of the top performers of the night as he was everywhere on the pitch marking and delivering good passes. He thwarted several attacking moves of Venezuela. He scored a fine goal on his second game and first start for Eagles. But he could do better by not dwelling too much on the ball. 6 – Bright Dike A surprise starter who almost scored on his debut but for the bravery of Venezuela goalkeeper. Powerful, very mobile, tenacious, very fit and relentless in harrying defenders. Certainly a decent shift by the US-based midfielder to brighten his Eagles chances. 5 – Obafemi Martins A lot was expected of the Levante striker, but it seems he tried to do too much and at the end of the day he was a pale shadow of his former self. He played too deep in the midfield and twice when played on goal, he could not find the back of the net. Not a convincing showing for a man of such high standards. 7 – Brown Ideye He got a chance to show he should be considered for the AFCON after some great displays for his Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev and he took it with both hands. He was denied twice by the goalkeeper Daniel Hernandez though he could have done better with his first chance when put clean through instead of shooting straight at the keeper. 5 – Raheem Lawal A first-half substitute for the injured Henry Uche did just enough, even though he lost the ball at least twice in dangerous positions. He did not lack commitment. 5.5 – Shola Ameobi The Newcastle United man finally debuted for the Eagles and made an appreciable impact as he provided the assist for Onazi’s third goal. His hold-up play was great and he brought his taem mates intoplay with an influential display. Merits another look. Given a decent chance, he could be a valuable addition to the squad to South Africa. 4 – Ejike Uzoenyi He was a substitute and was then replaced after 20 minutes. He struggled again as his tricks failed to work against the South Americans. he is gradually working his way out of the Eagles frame Sunday Mba: Did not enjoy enough playing time to be rated as he came on for Nosa Igiebor in the 90th minute. Umar Zango: Like Mba, the Kano Pillars defender cannot be rated as he was a stoppage time substitute for Uzoenyi. http://four33sports.com/2012/11/nigeria-v-venezuela-super-eagles-player-ratings/ |
