Hmmm...It is good to know that. Thanks. |
EagleScribes: How do you do that? |
A lot have been said about comedy in the church in the modern day Christianity. Recently, I stumbled on a Rev. Olusola Areogun's view about this controversial topic and it got me thinking deep. Here is what he has to say: "You can't play with Quran and the Muslims leave you alone, why should we let it be done with the Bible? have you heard of a comedian going to Osun shrine before? Or have you heard of a comedian doing comedy in the mosque and begin to joke with verses of the Quran? WHY ARE WE DESECRATING THE ALTAR OF GOD? Where have we gotten these pastors that didn't understand the terms and the consecrations of the calling?" These days,stand-up comedy, comedy drama and all sorts are everywhere in the church. I don't want to mention names because the intention of this thread is not to judge anyone but allow us to rethink and act right. My view is that we need to ask ourselves if the essence of the gospel is to pass a message to the world about the birth, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus for the salvation and transformation of our soul or to entertain the world. Please let's get it right. What is your view? #TechDisciples

But why did they allow a mentally unbalanced person to be a church priest (leading the congregation of sane members) in the first place. He could have done more harm to the church members than he did to the bank. I smell rat though...it may be an attempt by the church to cover his mess. Let's say NO to violence from anyone in any form. #GodBlessNigeria |
HubertHarold:Hmmm...Multichoice Nigeria really need to step up their game. The market will soon be competitive. |
Good write-up...scammers are everywhere in Nigeria. |
Lagos is really dirty. |
In fact, Ambode really mess Lagos up. |
Ambode fall my hand well well for this matter. Kai! ![]() |
nautieonline:Mr "I too know", you also need to work on your tenses and use of English in general. I beg, leave Nigeria alone. Haba! |
Na wetin we no go see for this world today? |
Exactly my thought. Wetin person eye no go see for this naija? Poor service delivery everywhere you go. My recent terrible experience was with GTBank. I used their Mastercard debit card at a Sterling bank ATM spot and my account was debited with no cash dispensed. There was a dispense error on a Friday morning. #YepaMogbe was all I could shout afterwards because i know that nothing works for Naija. I didn't get any reversal until 2 weeks after. The saddest part was that I was going to withdraw all I had in the account to get something very important. Terrible! @Op I share your pain and I know how it feels trying to pad-up a system that fails to work. E don tey wey I don give up on Nigeria. As per yur post, I sabi Afterlife Cleaning, na dem we dey use for our office. |

ArcFresky:Na so o.They are coming up with new strategies day by day. |
"On March 5, 2017 I received a call from one ‘Honourable’ Philip who requested that a key person from our organization should come to Omumma Local Government in Rivers State to inspect the LGA facility and give a quote for concentrated fumigation service. I did some quick research on the person and the local government because I had never been to Rivers state. ‘Honourable’ Philip promised to foot the bill of my transport to and fro. On March 6, 2017 I booked 10 O’clock flight to Portharcourt but my flight was delayed till 2 p.m. owing to bad weather. I arrived at Portharcourt airport around 2:45 p.m. and shortly after my arrival, I received a call from ‘Honourable’ Philip that someone would come and pick me up and drive me straight to the Local government secretariat. Everything looked perfect to me as I engaged the driver in some conversations as we journeyed towards what I later realized was the land of misfortune. The driver suddenly linked to a bypass. As we drove down the scary, rugged and muddy road, some armed men (about ten of them) came from the bush and intercepted our car. There and then I realized that I was tricked all the way from Lagos only to end up in the territory of the kidnappers. So, for real, I was kidnapped; left stranded in the bush for three days with no water or food to eat. I was blindfolded, hands tied, legs tied for 3 days. Despite all the beating and threats to take my life if my family did not pay the 10 million naira ransom they demanded, God spared my life. I was dispossessed of my phones, laptop and my bank accounts were emptied but I held unto my faith in God and believed absolutely in Him. This is my testimony. Brethren, join me as I thank God for saving my life and restoring my soul. I say a big thank you to my inestimable family and wonderful friends for their relentless prayers, financial support, advice, time, hospitality, calls, messages and all for the past few days. May the almighty God reward you accordingly. N.B. The same group that arranged my kidnap is sending text messages to contacts found on my phones using this format: ‘Gudmorning Adebowale, is me eMMA am now with Agip oil and gas company in Bayelsa branch. An employment is on now, if you like it let me know.’ Mine was contract, this is employment, please beware; don’t be the next victim. Let us share this post until it gets to someone you won't want to be the next victim." https://web.facebook.com/kurlarday posted on March 19, 2017. Modified: Here is another new tactics some upcoming kidnappers use. Never give a stranger your account number. Some dudes (it may even be your neighbour or your not-too-close friend)may approach you that they would need you to give them your account details that their brother/sister wants to send money to the account for them because they have BVN issues with their account. You can't tell who is sending the money. Some upcoming kidnappers ask their victims to send money to random account numbers so as to avoid being traced by the police. According to the victim above who happens to be a close associate, he said in the process of paying the ransom, his family was asked to pay money into several bank accounts which were later submitted to the Rivers State Anti-Robbery unit for further investigation but nothing has happened till date. His kidnappers were even smart enough not to withdraw directly from the ATM, using the debit cards collected from him, they withdrew the money using POS. A lot of things are happening these days, there is no security anywhere. This victim is just an ordinary citizen of Nigeria just like you and me. Our politicians seem not to bother about the security of common men because they and their family are guided by gallant mobile police every here and there. May God continue to be our guard. I hope you have learnt a lesson from this experience. God bless you all and God bless Nairaland. |
dingbang:@OP Thanks for making my day. Many Nigerian celebrities really need to read this. This post is front page worthy. Highly Recommended. |

@OP you just made my day. Oya uncle lalastica, do something. Let them learn from this. I am tired of hearing break up news up and down. |
Lamina, I remember how we had nice conversation on phone, we had BBM chat too but I never saw you for once. Tawa and Motunrayo made me know you; we still mourn because you left without telling. May your soul rest in the Lord. |

Elision is better used in spoken English than in writing. The major difference between Queens English and RP is that RP focuses exclusively on standard pronunciation while Queens English is also concerned with aspects such as grammar, vocabulary and style. So, in the context of your post on pronunciation, I think RP is appropriate (although I quite agree with you that Nigerians relate to Queens English better than RP). I really appreciate your polite response. #WeLearnEverday |

British English: Yes American English: Yeah If you know some Britons who say 'yeah' instead of 'yes', it does not change the standard. It is your responsibility to correct them to use language appropriately just as you choose to do here on Nairaland. |
@OP take note of these few errors in your post. Phonetikkks:Correction Take note of these I hope you are having a great weekend. ...if you wish to speak Queens' English BTW, why do you encourage us to speak Queens' English? Why not RP? Have you ever heard of Received Pronunciation? |
