Politics › Re: Why Was There Little Call For Biafra When Jonathan Was In Power? by Bukast(m): 11:04am On Sep 04, 2017 |
OkunrinMeta: One would imagine that in five years that Jonathan was in Power, if these protests and loud requests for secession was brought forward and it was this loud, It might have been easier for the Igbo nation to get what they seem to want.
Of course there is also the question of whether the agitators actually speak the mind of the Igbo Nation. This is because in my corner of the country, the Igbo men I know do not seem to be very much in support of Master Nnamdi. Still, these issues should be addressed by way of logical two way discussion.
So my questions are:
why is the demand for Biafra more pronounced now?
Did the agitators forget what they wanted before? Did they not want it at the time?
What exactly is the reasonable expectation currently?
Do you want the Hausa man to go and face his onions and cow while leaving the oil for only the east to enjoy because they are very selfless like Jesus?
Would it not have been easier to ask Jonathan to do that?
Are we willing to go back to 1967 to make it happen? answers (1)the demand for biafra is more pronounced now because only few people knew more about biafra then. As the day comes and goes, more people understand the reason behind the agitation, when nnamdi Kalu was Arrested, he was made popular, people started reading meaning into what he has been saying, some felt cheated thereby making more people to call for biafra. people out of frustration due to the hardship in the country joined the agitation (2) No, the agitators didn't forget rather ignorance was their problem, some never had any reason to call for biafra because they never knew about it until nnamdi Kalu gave them reason to, some of the agitators never knew what they have, nnamdi Kalu took his time to tell them what actually belongs to them and gave them reason to understand that they were not meant to suffer because God has blessed them. When the agitators was now well acquainted, they join the agitation (3) those who knew about biafra wanted biafra but remember there must be a leader. Some of them out of fear kept quiet, suffering and smiling, some felt that all hope for biafra is lost so they kept mute. (4) the reasonable expectation is to divide the country because the "biafrans" felt cheated in spite being blessed with natural resource to be wealthy, they felt they are not suppose to suffer. The igbos will ask "how do you expect one Nigeria when a real igbo man has never been president apart from nnamdi azikiwe since 1960. (5) yes they want the hausa man to go and face his onions and cows because they were facing their onions and cows before the discovery of oil..the hausas were surviving before so don't think without oil they won't survive..don't lay much emphasis on oil.. some country survive without oil and they are doing fine.. (6) No it wouldn't have been easier for jonathan because there has to be an agreement, and the northerners are not ready to agree, it's not something jonathan will easily get, and if he force the call for biafra, it might lead to war. Also during jonathan's tenure, the economy was healthier than today's economy, people were not really suffering compared with our present day situation. Only the few people who knew about biafra never had a strong voice..present hardship made people join this agitation (7) we are not willing to go back to 1967(war), we are not that foolish, no war because violence won't solve the problem, people have died, mothers fathers uncles aunties brothers sisters children, no need to go to war were more lives will be perished. Even nnamdi Kalu the leader of the agitation said "no war".. just peaceful protest and agitation.... Hope I answered your questions without any insult? Now I have my own question, please answer. Even if you are not in support of biafra or the agitation, are you happy about the situation of the country Nigeria?? |

hedonistic: You people are so annoying. Why are you trivialising the unprofessional conduct of the Army? "The only thing is that they did wrong by stripping her". See how you casually waved that off and went on to talk about section 109, as if that's more important than the CRIME committed by the soldiers (sexual harassment, assault). That is the real issue here. The so-called 'guilt' of the girl is not the issue; it is petty, hence why the option of fine prescribed by law is a measly N40.
Since you're pretending to like the law so much, why not emphasise the penalty prescribed by law for the offence? Does any law empower these bunch of uneducated misfit idiots in uniform to administer arbitrary punishment on any offender? Address that because THAT is the real issue! . Yes I'm not in support of neither the girl nor the army. I just want to clarify what was posted before..take it easy. You are the one that is annoying |

Is there any law that says civilians can't wear camouflage ? yes. There is a written law guiding wearing of camouflages. Remember too ignorance is not an excuse. The truth is that we were told not to wear camouflages to enable the army to know impersonators.. she is guilty of misdemeanor but I don't support them stripping her |

The NA makes it very easy for us civilians to hate them. Even when they die in battle I don't pity them!
Is there any law that says civilians can't wear camouflage??
If yes is the prescribed punishment striping the suspect?
If no, then who the hell do they think they are to tell people what to wear??
It is written law that a person cannot be punished for a crime not know to law and punishment therein prescribed. What are we if we do not have laws?? Bloody babarians!
The western world is right when it thinks of us Africans as such. We have no atom of civility.. . Yes there is a law guiding the wear of camouflages. And the punishment is imprisonment. Don't forget it is also written law that ignorance of the law is not an excuse. Though I'm not in support of stripping her. |

SUPERPACK: she is nt impersonating anybody with that cloth, when did army men start to wear tight trousers, and who gave the army the right to strip civilians, read the law below. . Read section 109 very well she is guilty.. the only thing is that they did wrong stripping her in public, but don't forget section 109 made us understand that she is guilty of misdemeanor and liable to imprisonment for one year. That's is is she was charged to court.. |

As far as I am as rich as dangote, she should not help me.like I told you before. It still depends on the type of work the father does. You said what of woman that work? Now the question is what of woman that don't work? I don't know how to explain this again but just know that a father only helps when there is time for that..you never considered all those scenario I mention, are you telling that a wife whose husband has gone a week business trip is expecting the husband to come back from the trip to be bathing the kids and changing diapers? My dear some father's see their family once in a week. The chance to help might not be there for him...If the father comes back 10pm and leaves 5am the time won't be there. Unless the father is someone who comes back early from work.. see let me tell you. what's bothering woman these days is not having a husband who will be helping them but having a husband who can and will provide more than enough for the family.. most poor men always help their wife all the time because they don't have any good job they are doing. they are always @home..I will help my wife when I am chanced. But don't say it as if it's my full time duty.. |

PaperLace: Lols. Only (prospective) tyrannical dads have this paranoia... I am closer to my dad_ at the rate my husband is going, I won't be surprised if our kid(s) are closer to him. If I tell them to go buy me something, from there they'll reach Crunchies fast-food and start sending me selfies. I won't see them, nor what I requested _for an hour+.
On this same NL, we have seen lots of men say their own is to provide money. I have seen one say he can never bathe or feed his kids, forgetting that's the best time to bond with them.
Some Nigerian men would never take their wives for antenatal. They don't know how to bathe a child or wear a diaper. When mummy isn't around, the whole house will be in disarray.
You think kids are blind? The earlier y'all get it into your heads that fatherhood is beyond paying school fees, the better. Mummy works too, manages the home and still bonds with the kids. You don't have an excuse.
I have never seen kids neglect a good dad, except they're bewitched or plain stupid. Proud Daddy's Girl the truth is that before you blame all father who can't bath their children of change a diaper, please consider the type of business he does, what if he is a military man, whose death can come knocking anytime? They won't even allow him to visit his family always. What if he is a pilot Who flies from Monday to friday? When will he have time to bath the children? What if the father great merchant who travels to diff countries to do business? Will they actually have time to rest talk more of changing the baby's diaper. Before you think of seeing any father bathing his own kids, first check if he even have time for himself, time to rest, to for leisure, he is human being too..if eventually I become a father, it's better I go and look for greener pasture while my lovely wife take care of the kids. It's just division of labour. I don't think it's normal to see a man bathing his kids when the wife is there doing nothing. My culture doesn't supports it. Bathing my kids is not the only way to show them love..whenever I come back from work, I will be very weak to carry out those activities, a good wife suppose to understand that..my dad will never bath me. I still love him. That bond is still there. I love staying with mum. But whenever I see dad there is a different joy I derive because dad will always provide all those things mum couldn't. Sometimes dad will make me work hard by promising to buy a bigger thing. Whenever dad travel, I personally wait for him as I wait for the 2nd coming of jesus because he must carry a small bag where all the goodies come out from..sometimes when you tell mum to buy you something. She will tell you to go and meet your dad..this also makes the bond btw u and dad very tight.. if I can provide almost everything for the family it will reduce the burden on my wife and she will have more time to look after the family..whenever I'm coming back from work. I can get them something to eat like fruits, ice cream or even sharwama. Lol |
